I had a very pleasant 1 night stay here. I had intentions of doing a tent camp using my rooftop tent, however, when I arrived the temperature had been dropping and it was raining so I splurged and got the Dry Cabin (#1). It was warm and dry, just what I needed. The bathrooms were immaculate. I was offered a ride to the restaurants in the center of town by the front desk, but I elected to walk the 15 minutes. We were just at Silverton Lake RV Resort. We reserved a small tent site for 6 nights and paid the extra trailer parking fee online even though we weren't sure we needed it. The check in process upon arrival was very welcoming. A gentleman even lead us to our camp site and showed us where to park the truck and trailer and where to set up our tent. Later that afternoon, "The Manager" came by and pretty much accused us of just taking yellow tags and writing our info on them, told us we needed to move and was very rude! This set a very bad feeling about our stay. He encouraged the next site to make us move when they were okay with our parking of the truck and trailer. We talked with the other site customer and he was fine with the set up but "The Manger" kept encouraging them to complain about it. A day later we went in the office and the staff were complaining about large trash bags in the dumpster and automatically started blaming it on the "tent camper". My husband spoke up and said if you don't like tent campers then don't have them and that he was a tent campers. This resort is very crowded and the sites are very tight. The PROs the bath house was clean, and the laundry facilities were nice to have available. We left early from our reservations. read more

Rode in to town on a dirt bike off the other side of Engineer Pass for maple Syrup that was forgotten prior to two weeks of camping in the woods. Have not been to Silverton in probably 4+ years , and to my amazement it's now a $fine to ride OHV in town - Silverton Lakes campground to the rescue - I pulled in to double check on the town riding rules as they are at the end of the road for OHV by a sign stating $300 fine- Upon hearing my dilemma, they first offered to go upstairs and get me syrup , but I was on a mission at this point. They helped me get in and out of town while offering safe haven for the dirtbike while I went shopping. They were also nice enough to loan me the air compressor to inflate my flat tire - good people , great help ! Campground looked really peaceful and nice and had moose meandering through it the morning I was there. Nice spot / Nice people !! read more

The very best customer service! I told them that I had my daughter with me who had never been to the mountains, and I wanted her to experience the beauty Silverton had to offer. They gave me a spot at the very end where we were able to see moose in the morning and truly get the full mountain experience. They were always eager to help and answer any questions. We stayed in the South Park that is in town. It was perfect for us. We stayed two weeks and walked all over town and up Kendall Mountain. The bathrooms and laundry were very clean and very close to all campsites, and the park was quiet. Having a dog was no problem. There was plenty of space to walk the dog. If in this area again, we plan to return to this park. Note, we have a Jeep and do not have ATVs. ATVs are not allowed to be ridden in town, so if someone has one, the main park outside of town might be better. read more

If you ever go to Silverton, Colorado and need a park to stay at, do not stay at Silverton Lakes RV Resort. I called to cancel due to our accident and they said they would only grant a partial refund. They said it's their policy. I told them we had every intention of being there, but with the accident we could not. The lady's response, "the accident wasn't my fault. We could have not given you a refund at all." We stayed here for 7 days and loved it. We stayed in both the full hook up and dry camping spots. The office was very clean and the staff was friendly. The bathrooms, showers and laundry room were kept nice and the place was full of families and OHV enthusiasts alike. It is a short two minute drive from town and a few minutes from the trail heads accessing hundreds of miles of trails. read more

July 31, 2021 I recently had the unfortunate experience of being exposed to two individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 in Pitkin Colorado. I notified management at Silverton Lakes RV Resort and explained the situation to them. I explained to them that according to CDC guidance, once exposed to COVID-19, one is expected to self-quarantine for 14 days. That being said, I notified management that I would be unable to check in to my "dry cabin" on August 1st, 2021 and asked for a refund, as an exception to policy. Oddly enough, one of their employees said she had never dealt with this before and suggested I check in to my cabin anyway. I explained to her that I would not do this because of the requirement to self-quarantine and protect against the possible spread of COVID-19. I pointed out that since I had a reservation for a "dry cabin" at their resort for for 6 days, I would still be required to utilize their common areas for showers, daily hygiene, and the bathrooms and this would certainly place other guests at risk. I asked for an exception to policy on refunding me my $541 for the 6 days, and received written notification from staff saying that the "owner is asking that you send us a certified diagnosis from your Doctor on their letterhead showing you have tested positive for Covid 19. Please email this document to us asap so we can use it in reviewing your request." I wrote back and explained I have not tested positive for COVID-19 but was exposed to two people who did test positive for COVID at a hotel which I explained the first time. Additionally, I provided them the name of the hotel, dates of my exposure, and recommended they contact management to confirm this as needed. Silverton Lake RV Resort's written response was to provide a letter from my doctor showing I tested positive for COVID which is completely oblivious to the fact that I reported "exposure to two people who tested positive" but have not yet developed COVID. It fails to acknowledge or recognize that regardless if I have tested positive or not, CDC guidance requires that I go into quarantine for up to 14 days to avoid possible exposure to other guests at the Silverton Lake RV Resort. Regrettably, out of their own self-interests, management has chosen to act in an irresponsible manner that fails to consider the health and welfare of other guests and the Silverton community at large. I have no idea what sense it makes to suggest I go ahead and check into my cabin.....or to threaten to refuse a refund because I am trying to avoid exposing other guests to COVID-19. There is an exception to every policy to allow for mitigating circumstances that a blanket policy cannot possibly address 100% of the time. I would urge management to reconsider how they handle refunds pertaining to individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19, and swiftly adopt policies and procedures that are in the best interests of all guests and not just financially based. If your criteria for issuing a refund is that someone must test positive for COVID-19 as your team has suggested by asking for a doctor's note saying so, yet fails to do the same for guests who have been exposed to COVID and are required to self-quarantine to avoid contaminating your facilities, then you've missed the intent of CDC's guidance, and the larger issue of protecting your guests against the spread of a virus. Strongly suggest you and your entire staff review CDC guidance for those exposed to COVID-19, regardless if tested positive or not: "The best way to protect yourself and others is to stay home for 14 days if you think you've been exposed to someone who has COVID-19." I would encourage other guests to pay close attention to this and similar issues associated with this resort where management gets angry and attempts to strong-arm guests into complying with their strict no refund policies. Of note, management finally agreed to process my refund as I was writing this review, with the warm and welcoming email comment of "Your threats are unappreciated, but guess that is how you deal. Refund has been processed." Good thing a refund was provided, although not without pressure from your guest to do the right thing. Next step was litigation followed by a formal written complaint with the BBB; a letter to the CDC detailing unsafe business practices of suggesting guests continue to check in even after COVID exposure; contacting local news agencies to share my story and experience in dealing with Silverton Lake RV Resort management and staff who threatened to refuse a refund for self-quarantine reasons if a letter was not provided by my doctor stating I tested positive for COVID-19; concluded by multiple reviews on social media sites sharing this experience. If you view those as "threats" as your email suggests, next time reconsider how you treat your "guests" before they feel you have left them without further recourse! read more

This is the second year we've stayed at Silverton Lakes in July. This is a great jumping off point for mountain off-road riding. Trail access is stellar. Last year we stayed in our box trailer as we stopped on a whim. The bathroom facilities were clean and private. Our space was neat had ample room and services. Staff was helpful and friendly. We decided to return this year with our 5th wheel. Our rig is large and quite heavy when loaded. The trip in resulted in some mechanical challenges and we were in need of some parts and possible service. Not a welcome situation on top of a mountain. However, the staff went above and beyond to help us locate parts locally and refer service in Durango. Jerry was the best! He went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed and offered great advice. He was instrumental in getting us back down the mountain safely. The entire staff here is helpful and friendly. The grounds are clean and well taken care of. Even the other campers were kind and respectful - no loose or loud pets, unsupervised children or late partying. A place is a place. This park stands out not only because of the clean and well cared for facilities but because of the people who operate it and work there. They treat everyone as a guest and a fellow human. They even provide individualized back-in assistance! It was great! Recommend and will gladly return in the future! read more

Our third day here of five. If you are an off road enthusiast, this is the place for you. Forest access in every direction. No trailering your toy. Just drive it in and out. Just what we were looking for. The alignment of the pull through infield is a bit disarranged and some double face to face spaces are extremely narrow. (Staff notes: remapping the park before next season) There are plenty of backin's, not on top of the adjacent spaces. Bring extra sewer lines as the connection points were not placed by anyone that would ever have to use them. Happy campers. We'll be back for a full week next time. read more
