Filthy. You should not have to complain about bedding that has not been washed and floors that are dirty and a toilet that still has remnants in the bowl from previous guests. The owner posts rude comments responding to anyone who dares stand up for being cheated out of hard earned money to come for a well deserved get away to be misled by some beautiful photos and what I imagine area couple of nice cabins and the rest like the deplorable Bait and switch we were suckered into. The cable tv IS in the cabin, but they neglect to say it is cut and hanging from the wall....No we did not ask for a refund for the night we did not stay when we left early because it was so horrific. We believe in karma and letting people know About your false advertising. Shame on you. read more

I am sadden by my first experience at a mountain cabin. My main issue with this place was the housekeeping. I found a used condom in my bedside table and the next day I found used boxers between the nightstand and wall. It made me question if our sheets were clean. It was brought to the attention of management and they didn't seem to take me very serious. We were later sent a nice basket with snacks and wine. It was a very sincere and nice attempt but the crackers were open and expired by two years. The cheese had expired by four days and gum was expired by a couple of years. (Photos posted) I hate to even mention this but with the cost of the cabins, I expect something different. We stayed in a larger cabin with a loft, 2 bedrooms, 2 bath. The cabin design was neat but I recommend adults to sleep in the bedrooms as anyone sleeping in the main room or loft can hear anything, and I do mean anything. The 1970s couch in this cabin was horribly old and broke down. (Photos posted) My son was unable to sleep on it. We would have brought an air mattress had we of known. The wooden floors are not stained or sealed so anything dropped on the floor stains it. It doesn't look very clean. (Photos posted) The bed in our room was comfortable. I did think I should have brought a fan until the room cooled off by the mountain air. I believe this place has the potential to be so much better. It was very peaceful and easy access to the mountains and town. You will need to bring lawn chairs as there is not enough seating on the porch. It was nice to sit out on our porch to watch the wildlife and listen to the creek. The other couple who went with us addressed all these issues with the owner and he basically said he didn't care. His marketing people would take of any bad reviews. read more

I never made it there, booked two nights to meet out of state friends there on a motorcycle trip. Ten miles out of town I was involved in a near fatal motorcycle vs. truck collision and was taken by paramedics to Gunnison where emergency surgery was needed. In the meantime, my friends contacted the owner/mgr to explain my circumstances. He reportedly told them if he could rent the room he refund my money. They didn't believe him. They checked in and said that their accommodations were OK, but is their spousal units were with them they would not agree. Having cheated death, I checked my credit card statement today while convalescing and noted true to form, The Texan Resort billed me. Point is that this establish has no business sense, moral code or sense of compassion. I did read some very concerning reviews on other sites as well, some good, some not so. Buyer beware. read more

We stayed in cabin #34... what a treat!!! We were right on the river and could hear and see the waterfall... I enjoyed sitting in the front porch listening to the river ...BLISS!!! Beds were comfortable, we had room for everybody... the resort is just outside of town so it's super easy to get to... all of us (7) said we would love to come back!!! Some of our friends stayed in other cabins, they are all different do u would suggest looking at the pictures posted on the website to ensure you get the cabin and amenities you are looking for... we will be back read more

Housekeeping is a joke. The washer in cabin 38 leaks because they didn't plumb it correctly on the water outlet for draining the washer. It comes out and water goes everywhere. I went to get 2 towels and older guy with pony tail and glasses told me I could have towels if I come back between 4-5PM. This was at 1PM. So I'll just leave the place flooded I guess. These idiots can't even run the right hose to keep from flooding the place. Morons. I was trying to help and he wants to give me lip. The sheets and towels were dry and crusty when we showed up. Kind of gross. We usually stay at Woodlake Park outside of town and it's so much better. I'll never stay at this rat hole ever again unless it changes owners. No paper towels and only 1 towel and 1 wash rag per person. It's not well stocked on essentials. You have to beg for extra trash can liners and toilet paper. It's ridiculous for what you pay. The coffee maker was gross too and we found a rogue sock under a bed. Not sure they really ever clean anything. Photos of coffee maker attached. The microwave didn't work either. read more

The cabins range from Texas hunter cabins to huge beautiful family vacation cabins. Customer service was excellent for our situation, they worked well to accommodate our needs. Do you like everything in the cabin to be old, the bed to be extremely saggy, the comforter stained, the TV not work, and sounds or mice scampering all night? Then this is the place for you. If this is not what you are looking for, I suggest trying other locations. OH yeah, and if you do stay, there is a note on the door stating that this is not a room service location and that if you use any dishes, silverware, pots and pans, you must clean them, or there is a "big fine". Same with your trash - take it to the dumpster yourself. We were in cabin #5 and we stayed there September 17th. read more

We decided to go climb a few peaks last week, was getting late and needed. A place to stay in Lake City. I got online and found the number for a Texan resort and got in touch with Arlan. I let him know that we wouldn't get there until 1030 as we are driving from northern Colorado he said no problem and gave me his number to send texts for updates. As we got closer I kept him informed and he gave us some excellent directions to find a place in the dark right before we arrived he gave us an upgrade to a cabin with a king size bed it was super nice. Only wish we could have enjoyed the bed for longer as we had to get up at 5:30 to head to the trailhead. Thanks Arlan. read more

We stayed in the Lincoln cabin during the Lake City Wine and Music Festival. Our cabin was dusty with cobwebs, and the kitchen utensils, pots and pans, and bowls were filthy. One of the pots had thick grease lines, and the bowls and utensils both had food particles on them. It was unhealthy and disgusting. The grills were in serious disrepair. The gas grill was missing parts and the propane tank was empty. The charcoal grill had food debris and was rusty. When I spoke with Arlan, the manager, to ask for a discount due to all this, he refused. Also, the Texan promises a discount if you fill out a Yelp review before checkout, which I feel is bribery for a good review and should be against Yelp's guidelines. read more

Have no expectations if you risk staying here. There was no cable, no wifi, no supplies (they want you to wash your dishes but will not provide dish washing soap) . Cabin #10 has a horrible smell, the sinks are rusted out and gross, the bathroom linoleum is coming up in places and looks filthy, but they do have plenty of mice. The office is never open, so they post 2 phone numbers. The woman's had a "full mailbox" the entire week and he won't respond to msgs. This is truly the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. read more

We had the pleasure of staying at The Texan this summer and were not disappointed at all. The cabins are fully stocked with blankets and towels. Our cabin had a kitchen that was fully stocked as well with pots, pans, cups, plates, utensils. Wow, what a little slice of Americana in the middle of the Rockies. I am surprised that more people dont know about this. The views, surrounded by nature, and the quaint little town of Lake City. We had a great time...the cabins were clean and cozy and the service was quick. Very friendly staff. We will be back next summer for sure! read more

This place is amazing. The owner is a stand up guy, very helpful and friendly. The cleaning crew is just as awesome, they were very concerned with our needs and comfort. The resort is comprised of about 40 cabins, some new, some old and updated, some old and in need of an update. But, as with all things in life, you get what you pay for, and at least they offer all comfort levels and needs. This is not a Resort in downtown Scottsdale, it is a quaint resort in Lake City Colorado, and should be reviewed as such. I'm not sure what people expect when they travel to a small remote gorgeous town in the Rockies, but if you are looking for a turn back time, friendly, quaint, clean, and quiet place on the outskirts of town.... this is it. read more

The folks running the Texan Resort were very friendly and helpful, but our cabin was super expensive for the size. My standard bed filled my room and there was no room for luggage and almost no space in the bathroom at all. The cabins are close together and we felt crowded just walking around. This would be an ok place to stay at about 50% of the price. read more

It was a wonderful place. The staff is friendly and efficient. Our cabin was warm, spacious, clean, and comfortable. It had a fully equipped kitchen, color TV and nice fireplace. The resort was well kept and surrounded by scenic views. A beautiful river ran through it. One could fly fish right at the resort. The Texan was walking distance to this cool little town called Lake City. There were several nice restaurants and bars in Lake City. Also in Lake City you could hire a guide to take you fly fishing and teach you how. Nearby was a beautiful lake where you could fish and water ski. It was a great place to hike, mountain bike or just relax and enjoy the mountain air. We took our dog, and she had the time of her life. We are coming back! read more

Spent a week at Texan, nice rustic cabins ours slept six. Everybody there took really good care of us with anything we needed. Place is close to town within walking distance. Theres a nice river that runs through the property. They were very accommodating with pets. Planning on vacationing there next year. Great place to stay. read more

I booked one night online at this 3.5 star rated place after calling and emailing other places in town and getting no response. I arrived in the early afternoon and stopped in to get a key before check-in so I would not bother staff when I came back late in the evening. No problems there, they said they would leave the light on for me and it was not the cabin with all the mattresses piled out front. This is what I found when I came back later in the evening: - parking area was not plowed (about 18"-20" of snow) - dirt all over the floor - couch ripped up - sweat stains down the middle of the fabric cushions of the seats - heater barely worked (-3 that night) had to hover over the unit to feel any heat - linoleum floor coming up in areas - fireplace did not work - cabinet doors were off - carpet was dirty ( a lot of hair on it) - bed was made with dirty, stained sheets, appeared to have been remade since last person stayed with no linen change - used all the blankets in the place and still shivered all night - no hot water in the morning (had to start the water heater myself) - floor bath mat was stained and dirty - tub had a lot of mildew and mold - following an ice cold rinse, towels smelled like a sweaty hairy man, not laundered, and makes me shudder thinking about it - would have been more comfortable staying in my vehicle read more
