Compassionate Care - in home dog euthanasia

    Compassionate Care

In a perfect world, I would hope that no one would need to avail themselves of their service and…read moreour beloved animals would live with us forever. When that is no longer the case and tough decisions need to be made, we had an excellent experience with Compassionate Care to say goodbye to our pup. Let me start by saying that every administrative and customer service interaction was timely, clear, and concise. The last thing you want in this situation are delays and confusion. Once I reached out through the contact link on their website, the email response with details about their different services happened within 10 minutes. An intake call to make arrangements for a euthanasia visit at our home was answered by a human and only took a few minutes. They recommend making a reservation 48-hours in advance, but we were put on a wait-list and we moved up our reservation when things opened up. I appreciate that you can reschedule (with four hours advance notice) as well. They have a variety of services, Eco-friendly cremation, and memorial pieces. Everything was arranged in advance, including payment through their web portal, so when the vet arrived for the appointment it was all about our boy and his (and our) comfort. Dr. Wilson clearly walked us through the process, gave us time to say goodbye, provided options, and was a wonderful partner in the process. Cremation is done at a facility in N. Portland, but they have the option of picking up the cremains in Oregon City which was more convenient for us. Having gone through this experience with another pet where we took them to the vet's office, I would highly recommend this option for the pet's comfort. It just felt better saying goodbye in a familiar space surrounded by love.

My experience was okay…read more I made most difficult decision to let my beloved cat go after a long weekend spent mostly in ER trying to figure out why he would no longer eat. And an even longer two or three weeks before that fighting to get him to eat. Like others here, I consider pets like family. I was busy with the doctors in ER so my partner called in to make the appointment to ease my stress. He said I was primary contact, but it was difficult to make that clear all the way until the day so communications were continually going to him. Not a big deal in the overall picture, but it didn't make the experience any easier. This was my cat and while he loved my baby, I was the one with the lifelong bond. The doctor showed up within the time window allotted. We both found her a little cold. I felt like we were just a job and everything was done by number. My BF picked up my cat and took him to me, but the doctor said we should do paperwork first. I was emotional and crying. This really should somehow be handled before the visit. There were corrections to be made on the form. I was about to lose my baby and this only made me aware that I was filling out his death warrant. I am utterly heartbroken. I know holding your baby until the last minute is catharsis and closure, but I found it traumatizing. His passing was peaceful at least. Everyone's goodbye will be unique, and my example will not necessarily match what others experience. Everyone we spoke to was professional. I just wasn't feeling the compassion.

We…read moreare from Paradise California and lost everything in the fire, but we're able to get, Trudy out safely. Our son and his family went through the same thing and the only thing they got out was their dog, Abby. We both chose Riverside Animal Hospital and were glad we did. Though Abby has passed away from cancer, the care she got was second to none. I brought Trudy today for a follow up, from a urinary tract infection and possible mass on her bladder. To say I was scared was an understatement. As I walked in the office, I was greeted professionally and more important a reassuring welcome. This made me feel, so much more comfortable and I knew, It was so sincere. Each person had a caring smile on their face. I was immediately brought back to the station, for the examination. Again, I was treated with much kindness and in a real professional manner. She asked about how Trudy was doing and did an initial exam. She could tell I was scared and gave me much reassurance. After this examination, Trudy was taken to a different room and an ultrasound took place. I was so scared. Thinking the worst, and hoping that my prayers would be answered, in a positive way. After a few minutes, the veterinary staff doctor and assistant returned. They gave me positive information and I was so relieved and so thankful for Riverside Animal Hospital, for the amazing job, that they all did, from the time I walked in to the time that I left. We will go back in about a month for a recheck up and hope and pray that everything will be OK. The professionalism, knowledge, work ethic and sensitivity from the Riverside Animal Hospital team, is second to none. Thank you for letting me share my story.

We were able to get in next day for the procedure so I didn't have to wait too long knowing what was going to happen (Thank you Callie) They had a special private entrance for us which was nice because I had already started sobbing. My vet, Morgan Helfrich, and her tech were very kind and made sure we could say goodbye at our pace. They had plenty of anesthetic so she could pass not knowing what was happening. My vet said some very gentle words as my dog was passing to gently say goodbye, words I was unable to choke out at the time, but were important to say. Thank you Riverside Animal Hospital, you were so wonderful to have on my side during such a painful moment. I will never go anywhere else!

The front desk staff are kind, thorough, and genuinely personable. They have a way of making you feel like you and your pet truly matter, not just like another client number in a system. Dr. Sheen is the best DVM I have ever worked with, and that says a lot given how many vets I've encountered over the years. She genuinely cares about the well-being of her patients and consistently goes above and beyond to provide the most well-rounded, thoughtful, and personalized care in every situation. My dog Jax has terminal cancer, and Dr. Sheen has been one of our greatest advocates and sources of support throughout this entire journey. When she doesn't have an immediate answer, she has no hesitation in admitting that -- and then she finds the answer, or points us exactly where we need to go. She is kind, genuine, and carries such a quiet, loving energy that I trust her completely with my dogs' health (which, as a self-proclaimed overbearing pet parent, does not come easily for me). My only wish is that she worked with horses too! Thank you to the entire Elevate team for the exceptional care you provide. I will be a client forever.

This was not misuse -- it was a clear product failure and a safety concern for a post-operative dog. When we contacted the clinic for a replacement, we were told we would need to pay for it. After a follow-up call, the clinic confirmed they would not replace it. We have generally had good experiences with East Bend Animal Hospital and trusted them with the care of our pets. We never questioned their higher-than-average pricing because we believed it reflected better care, judgment, and accountability. In this situation, it did not. To be clear, this was not about the cost of a cone. It was about principle. Faced with a clear safety issue involving a post-operative dog, the clinic chose to stand by the failed item rather than support a client with multiple pets. We also reached out directly to our primary veterinarian to document the safety issue and provide photos, but received no response. As a result, East Bend Animal Hospital will no longer be providing care for any of our pets. This was a disappointing end to what had previously been a good relationship.
