Really wonderful groomer on the west side of Bend. They take excellent care of my medium hair dog (border collie mix), making her look wonderful and breed appropriate. She is always in great spirits when I pick her up, and she does not hesitate during the drop-off, which are both good indications that they do what they can to make it a low-stress experience. I highly recommend them! As a side note: they are located near a Safeway, dry cleaner, wine shop, and lunch spots, so there are plenty of things do to (fun or chores) nearby in the hour it takes them to pretty up my girl. read more

We have a rescue that is completely averse to nail trimmings. We've bathed her at home since we've had her and this was her first professional grooming. We vetted a few businesses and felt confident this would be a good place. The drop off went smoothly and the staff was super comforting, to our pup and us. We were told it would be two hours and the service was finished sooner than expected. We picked her up up and she looked so lovely. Her hair was trimmed really nicely and her nails successfully cut. These folks really know dogs and clearly know what they're doing. We won't be going anywhere else. read more

I feel lucky to found this place near the crossroads of Century Dr and Simpson Ave. I hadn't given my dog many bath before, so they were really kind and helpful. The first time I went in. They also recommended a detangling shampoo that worked wonderfully with my Doodle's complex coat. They were calm and patient in trimming my dogs nails, even though he has anxiety. I will not be returning here, and have advised my mother with the same breed to not return here, as well as my other family members. I had previously worked with the owner and other members on the timing and types services for my Newfoundland. At my last appointment upon returning to pick my dog up, I walked in and heard several employees behind the swinging doors (with no one at the front desk) and they were all going off about what a horrible own I am bringing my dog in for a brush out instead of a bath (which I was advised my the owner to do, in between baths), how much they dislike the owner, talked about me personally, and then yelled "and if she doesn't like it, she can go elsewhere with her damn dog" Needless to say I was appalled with other customers overhearing and wide eyed. When I called the owner, she didn't have much to say except "I'll get back to you" and she never did. The staff has become so incredibly rude (everyone I encountered). My family and friends who went there, have noticed as well. Unless you want to leave your dog with incredibly disgruntled and frustrated employees, and not know what they are going to say about you when you leave.. I would advise going elsewhere. read more

I have taken my dog to Muddy Paws many times for a nail trim and self-wash. Until today I was satisfied with the service. Today, my opinion of MP has changed and I will never return. I heard my dog crying out in distress - something he has never done during prior trims. When I went to check on him, I saw 3 techs restraining him while the nail tech dremmeled him while he cried out. I stopped the service and when I checked his nails, I understood his distress. They had cut past the quicks. They should have been attentive to his distress rather than forcing him to hold still. This is inexcusable and inhumane. I will never entrust MP again with my dog. read more

We brought our pup here for a self-wash, and it was a great find! The tubs are large enough for giant dogs, and the walked us through all of their products, and how to use everything. We were told they'd bring us a better (more efficient) dryer from the grooming area (our dog has a heavy coat) but they didn't, so we used the one at the wash station, which was OK but didn't do the job. It seems like a good place, there was only one groomer on call - but like I said we just did a self wash. The price was a bit more than I pay in Portland, and the products were good - there weren't as many grooming tools as I'm used to seeing. However, the self wash did the job and my pup is no longer caked in dirt. So yay. read more

Took our pup for her 1st grooming appointment. When we picked her up that evening her eyes were very red and she seemed in discomfort. Things looked even worse in the morning and we took her to the vet. They diagnosed a corneal ulceration and said the injury could not have been preexisting. Basically this groomer cut my dog's eye. Called to speak with a manager - she denied any wrong doing and said they didn't use instruments around her face. This was a total lie as her face and eye area were significantly altered. The manager ended up saying that maybe our dog scratched her own eyes when they put the "happy hood" over her head. I NEVER would have consented to having a bag put over my dog's head. Wish I would have know this before leaving my sweet dog with these people. No apology or offer to help with the vet bill. She repeatedly referred us to the website stating no refunds. The money isn't the issue. The problem is that they damaged our dog's eye (hopefully not permanently) and offered no resolution. I had hoped they would take steps to prevent this from happening to someone else's pet in the future but that was not the case. Keep your pet safe and stay away from this place. read more

Long story short I wouldn't recommend it. They did a good job on my spaniel , my Pomeranian looked awful though, patchy and out of proportion. The customer service left us feeling awkward frustrated and unsatisfied. Also it's overpriced. Bummer because I wanted to like them because of the self wash option. I had more problems with them surrounding ... confusing and somewhat unprofessional handling of scheduling and greeting .. but I'll try to chalk that up to covid 19 adjustments. read more

This week with the best intention, we left on a trip to Bend Oregon. The best intention was that we would get our dog washed prior to leaving town. That alas, did not happen. Upon arriving in Bend on Sunday night, I started the search for dog washing spots. I came across Muddy Paws Bathhouse. It was located very close to where we were staying, so, I decided to give it a try. It was hilarious, my dog was super excited to walk in, right until the smell of shampoo hit his nose. At that moment, he knew the gig was up. I think he was most distressed because he was losing a smell he'd been cultivating for about two weeks. I know that probably says terrible things about me as a pet owner, but I digress. He had the 2 week funk going, he was sleeping on my side of the bed, and the time had just arrived to meet some soap and water. I walked into Muddy Paws and was greeted by Ken. He was very helpful and got me set up at one of the washing stations. He brought me over the oatmeal shampoo and conditioner, showed me where the blow dryer was, got towels and let me go. The entire process went according to normal dog washing standards. I did the double suds and the standing conditioner. After he was rinsed, I got him dried, mostly. There were brushes in my station, eye and ear washing rinses, and "the stuff" which Ken told me was the after drying leave in conditioner. The price was great, the people were very helpful and super friendly. I highly recommend Muddy Paws when you hit the funk o'meter and you need your dog to smell more like a flower than the dog park. read more

That being said, they returned my dog (a doodle) with matting under her ears that I can't untangle myself and did not cut her hair per our request. Very disappointment in the service at Muddy Paws. The girl who gave my pup a bath changed the price by $10 right in front of me at checkout and the front desk girl was very curt in her explanation for the change. When I called in to ask the owner, Linda Rafilson, about it, I was told that because I had previously left to follow a groomer whose work I loved, she didn't know why I would come back and that she was cancelling all future appointments. I feel like I have been punished for simply questioning why the price was increased, while also being told that my pup was very sweet and had no tangles. Anyway, as someone who is at the groomer every three weeks, I do not recommend Muddy Paws. read more

Not a fan of this dog groomer. They hacked my golden's cut and expected a larger tip than I was willing to give. I walked into do the do it yourself dog wash and I was denied even though no people were in there...no workers, no customers. The front desk people are full of sass and actually rolled eyes at me. Don't support this company who thinks we need them more than they need us. Oh and good luck having someone speak to you when you call. You get 20 min of rules spoken to you in an unbelievably rude tone. Customer service is shot in Bend. Boo on you. read more

Was there today with our golden doodle. Walked in and asked for the groomer that had always done our dog. I was told he had quit suddenly and they weren't able to tell everyone. Met the new groomer and told her what I wanted. When finished, I the woman behind the counter said that would be $87. I said what. I told her that wasn't what I paid for on all the other grooming appointments. I paid $77 in the past. I asked why $87. Her answer - price increase. The new groomer did an ok job but I was not happy with the way they handled the change in groomers, nor was I happy with the price increase. Time to find I new company to groom our dog. read more

I've always been skeptical of taking to my dogs to a groomer for several reasons but I started going to Brianna about 2 years ago and will never go to anyone else! She's patient, great at cuts, and all of my dogs LOVE her! I definitely recommend anyone with any sort of hesitation to go to Brianna! I have to agree with Just S (reviewer 4 days ago). We arrived shortly after 5 with our dogs and had constant annoying reminders from the kids that were working there that they closed at 6pm. This is no way to run a business, if you want to close earlier then close earlier, but coming by to tell me every few minutes does not help me finish quicker. As bad as that was it's not the worst thing about this place. The temperature regulation on the water does not work. One minute it's hot water the next minute it's cold water. Employee said they could not figure out what was wrong and that the new owners weren't willing to spend the money to get it fixed. All of these things combined means we will never return. read more

I have been going their for several years but I have also noticed a lot of changes. I went there today a d was disappointed to see hair all over the floor. I generally wash my own dog . The wash basins we're always sanitized and cleaned between each customer. Mine was full of black hair, the brushes were dirty and I have to go to another basin to get ear wipes. It just seems a shame. Perhaps the owner should work on the cleanliness of the place. read more

Avoid this place. The staff is rude and unhelpful. In a town full of dogs, they should be more courteous and thoughtful for their customers. They are in a service business. They list their hours as open until 6pm, but when I came in at 5pm, they refused use of the U-Wash station saying that it was already closed. They didn't offer any reason. And the staff barely looked up from their computers when I entered. I've emailed them with this feedback and no one bothered to email back. My dogs and I are rookies at the Bathhouse. When we walked in we were all a bit nervous. It was the dogs 1st time being groomed by a professional. The staff at Muddy Paws put all of us at ease immediately. Even though they were clearly busy, they took the time to answer all my questions and make the dogs feel comfortable. It's clear the staff cares about the well being and comfort of my dogs. And, the pups look amazing and even smell good! We will definitely be going back to Muddy Paws! read more

BEWARE....We took our Morkie (7 lbs) who we've had groomed every 6 weeks for 6 years and just recently here when we moved to Bend. They quoted $50 when I enquired but when my husband took her and picked her up they charged $57-58. AND cut off all her eyelashes...when I mentioned this they told me thats a preference and I needed to tell them Not TO.....The role of the eyelashes on dogs. The fine hairs that grow at the eyelid perform several functions. Even though they are often regarded as an emphasis of beauty, their primary function is to protect the eyes from small particles such as dust, sand or debris from entering and harming the eye. We took her 2 more times with one more time she had sniffled and coughed for a day after and although her groom was OK it wasn't great so this last time because of winter I had my partner call and tell them we just wanted a wash and they said that would be $25-$35 the higher if she was matted. I brush quite often so she didn't have any knots or mat. I turned up dropped her off confirmed $25 and left 15 mins later they call my husband and tell him $30...This is just NO way to run a business and when I asked when picking her why 30 not 25 there was no logical answer other than thats halfway between 25-35 so I asked how do we get $25 and she said they don't do $25.....I had had enough of this less than professional place and refused to pay more than $25 and left. I DO NOT generally write negative reviews but after being quoted and trying to charge more twice. telling me its OK to cut off her eyelashes ( no sorry ) and that I was responsible because I didn't tell them not too. I didn't tell them that eyelashes serve a purpose as they should know that if they were groomers. My dog has been to groomers in San Francisco, Palm Dessert and I have always been happy and sometimes paid a lot more but was never told one thing and charged another. Lastly her eyes had not been cleaned properly this last time and yes definitely a LAST TIME. read more

Love, Love, Love the groomers and all folks at Muddy Paws! I live in a condo with my two critters (see photo above) and I don't have a place to bathe them. We do lots of outdoor, messy stuff and I try to get them in for baths at least once a month. I love that Muddy Paws has both self-serve tubs PLUS the great Groomers who will do full-service work on the dogs (including nails!) Peaches and Spock have been there several times. Muddy Paws is the first grooming salon where they don't try to slink back to the car before we get to the door. The folks there treat them with so much love and affection...they make us all feel like we are their favorite clients~but I know they make all their dogs and humans feel that way. I have to admit, my dogs don't require fancy grooming...just baths and a little clip here and there, so I can't attest to the quality of their specialty dog-dos. All I know is that my kids come home happy, soft, brushed out, and smelling GOOD. On top of that, one of the groomers found a swollen earlobe on Peaches that I had missed. Her observation and informing me saved us a HUGE veterinary bill and a lot of heartache. Now if only Muddy Paws served beer, Dawg Grog, and filled growlers while you self-bathed your dogs... read more

After waiting two months, due Covid, we brought our mini schnauzer in. I had been trimming her with scissors and mostly keeping matting out. When she went in for her appointment she had only two small Matt's. When we picked her up she was shaved on her body, unevenly, and all legs. They did not trim her head or ears which is a must. They are the best, I emailed them on Monday to see if they had time to do Artim's bath and sanitary trim before I head out camping next Saturday for the week. They got back to me on Tuesday and Artim had his appointment on Friday. He doesn't like the dryer and is very vocal about it. But they let him howl and talked to him calmly and did their best to keep him calm. My pup is my child and at any point If feel that my pup was abused or in danger, I would unleash my wrath...But here I don't have any worries. Their team is patient and caring. I will continue to go back to them every time. Rachel did an excellent job on bathing him and brushing him out. Huskies are a hair ball, but they make him look awesome and handsome...I have had a lot of compliments about how he looks after his spa day...lol! Just AMAZING. My German Shepard/ Husky mix is 65 pounds, though very friendly and not a hassle to bathe, he does have plenty of hair. The groomers did NAILS, EARS, TEETH, PAW TRIM, AND KEEP COAT BRUSHING with the bath. Tucker James has never been so clean and DRIED COMPLETELY! There may be a long wait, but they have a cancellation list and for me got me in two days after I called. Not a great experience. Very poor customer service from the start. We walked in for our grooming appointment and it was a little busy and the groomer was flustered.Which is fine. Didnt introduce herself or ask us any questions. The 2minutes of brief interaction we said we would like his hair short. By the end of it he came out with a patchy buzz cut. And then the groomer proceeded to lecture us about the way we need brush our dog. That he cant be brushed laying down. We have to brush him standing up. All in all. Will not be going back. Would have a better experience doing it all myself at home. read more
