Carlos was my hero for connecting with me by phone before the actual rental time. He explained where to meet with him, in detail. This was important because the Huntington Gardens had construction going on at their front entry gate, so Carlos guided me to an alternate entrance and THEN TO THE DROPOFF SITE on the Huntington property. Quite a gambit. Anyway, Carlos has the best personality. He is gracious and warm. He was prompt in meeting for the drop-off AND for returning to meet for the scooter pick-up. I called him to PLEASE pick up the scooters about 1 hour early, as we were both tired from our adventure. Carlos got to us early and with a smile. The two scooters we rented were excellent for "zipping" around the large property. The property is 207 acres, so trying to do that tour on foot was impossible for us two seniors. Really nice equipment that held it's charge. It was easy to handle indoors (in the galleries) and outdoors (commuting to and through the many gardens.)

**1/5 stars -- Started excited, ended feeling used**…read more This was my first time ever buying a car, and I walked in nervous -- I actually brought a stress ball with me because that's how much anxiety I had going into it. But talking to our salesperson, H, put me at ease. He was reassuring, made me feel like I was in good hands, and by the time we finished I was genuinely excited. I even asked for business cards because I wanted to come back and leave the most glowing review I could. That excitement didn't last. During the sale, H told us we could not install an alarm system later, could not add the KARR system after the fact, and could not use a Honda manufacturer alternative down the line. Believing him, we agreed to buy their $1,095 KARR Security System on the spot. None of that turned out to be true. Two days later, 07/28/2026, when I tried to cancel other add-ons, Financial Services rep Saul Murillo told me I couldn't get GAP coverage anywhere else -- also false, since GAP is widely available through banks and other lenders. He also told me I'd have to physically drive back to the dealership just to sign a VSA cancellation form. I brought the misrepresentation up with GM M. Stein, who agreed to process the VSA cancellation but denied the KARR claims were misrepresented and says that charge is non-refundable. What should have been an exciting milestone turned into feeling misled and taken advantage of during what was supposed to be a special moment for me. If you're buying here, record what's said in the finance office, get everything in writing, and independently verify any "you can't do this elsewhere" claims before you sign -- because in my experience, they weren't true.

As a note, every other Hyundai dealer, we went to, was downright, dishonest and misrepresented every single car they had. Even after all of that, I was still in the market for a Palisade, so I actually considered giving Van Nuys Hyundai another chance rather than driving an hour to Cerritos. That turned out to be a mistake. I called Van Nuys and was connected with John, and the nightmare continued. He was rude, condescending, hyper-aggressive, and spoke to me with ZERO respect. At one point, he actually told me he wasn't going to "waste his time" with me if I was going to price shop. He then asked whether I was the decision maker. I told him yes. Later, when he asked how I arrived at the monthly payment I was looking for, I mentioned that my husband had suggested it. .John immediately used that to tell me that apparently my husband was the one "in charge" after all and again, became just so condescending. Excuse me? The vehicle would have been in MY name, I was the customer on the phone, and I was the one paying for it. There are honestly no words to adequately describe the arrogance, rudeness, and disrespect I experienced from this man, and this was just over the phone. The bigger problem is that this wasn't one bad interaction with one employee at Van Nuys Hyundai. From my original experience, to the attempted purchase, to the person who publicly invited me to discuss my concerns and then never responded, and finally to John, every interaction reinforced the same impression: hostility, arrogance, and a complete lack of respect for the customer. The good news? I drove to Cerritos the very next day and purchased a beautiful Palisade SEL Premium. I received an incredible deal with a payment $220 LESS per month and $2,000 LESS down than what I had been dealing with here, and I most importantly, I was treated with respect throughout the process. So in the end, Van Nuys Hyundai did me a favor. They sent me straight to a dealership that knew how to treat a customer. Van Nuys Hyundai was an absolutely terrible experience from beginning to end.

My wife took her Ford Fusion there last year because the "check engine" light was on. Natually, she received no return calls, so I phoned them one day and told them, "This is [wife's name]'s husband. We are coming over tomorrow to pick up her car, which she brought in several days ago. Kindly have it ready for us." I drove her over there, and they returned the car without any fuss (we just showed them the paperwork). In fact, they hadn't done any work at all on it, so there was no charge. (Not that I wouldn't have disputed it if there had been.) You'd think that was the end of it, but a couple of days after we got her car back, my wife needed to put something in the trunk. She opened it, and there were several boxes of computer paper! Not only had Galpin done no work on the car, they casually used it for storage. I suppose we could have just kept the paper (or given it away), or at least charged them a storage fee, but we decided it wouldn't be worth the bother. We returned the paper to them.
