My mom had knee replacement surgery and we felt it would be very helpful for her to have a hospital bed to assist with movement and just trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. I called AME at 4:30pm on a Saturday with an urgent medical supply need, and Jason answered the phone. That was the first surprising thing since these days it's so hard getting to a live person. He politely quoted me over the phone and since I was coming from nearly 30mins away, he said he'd be willing to wait for me past the 5pm closing. We got there a few minutes after 5pm, and he still patiently answered all of our questions. We didn't feel rushed at all, and he didn't give us any attitude when we still had a bunch of questions. He even called his boss to ask if they could make an exception to their return policy in case it didn't fit (they couldn't). Jason is seriously a refreshing face to the retail sales experience. Probably one of the worst companies I have had to deal with in a very long time. I was in need of a low air loss mattress hospital bed because I deal with pressure woods I have been sleeping on the standard size bed since COVID. Because of purchasing rental and purchasing restrictions that my insurance has in place in regards to how often I can get new DME. I have had two beds in my room since covid, one that I slept in which was the standard size low air loss bed and another bed that I used to sleep on that was large enough for me to get dressed on. When I finally met the criteria to get a new bed I found this company through my insurance website. My mom spoke with Lorena. She explained that I needed a wider bed because of the way I have to get dressed. I am a paraplegic who had to have his hips removed so my legs tend to flop around when I get dressed so the smaller bed was no longer conducive to my needs. Lorena told my mother that they had the bed I required. She informed my mother exactly what the doctor needed to write in the prescription and medical necessity letter. After months of dealing with insurance. (Not your company's fault) I was informed that in fact you could NOT PROVIDE the bed I was looking for. She then punted me to a different company that thankfully is able to provide the equipment I needed. This whole process started in late December 2024/early January 2025. Needed to obtain a breast pump and I am super disappointed that PIH recommended this place to me. I came in on July 29th, a week after I gave birth to my son, with a prescription from my doctor. Yes, I should've gone in a month before but I wasn't sure if I was going to breastfeed. I spoke with Tyler and spent 30 minutes there, giving him my information so he could send me a list of pumps and process everything. He told me it usually takes two days from when the insurance gives the go ahead for a "case" to be closed and the pump to be ready. Cool. He was friendly and nice. THAT WAS THE ONLY TIME and probably because he was looking me in the face. Don't hear from him the rest of the week so I call him on Friday, August 2nd. He tells me he hasn't heard back from Aetna. He sounded annoyed I called. I ask if I should call my insurance to push it through. He was short and told me no. Then he tells me he'll call me Monday if I need to talk to my insurance. Monday comes and goes. No word from Tyler. I call again on Wednesday, August 7th. Again, Tyler sounds suuuuuper annoyed that I called. Tells me that he's "working on it" and needs to check with his billing department. This exact conversation repeats itself when I call back on: -- Monday, August 19th -- Monday, August 26th -- Friday, August 30th Same excuses. Same suuuuppppper annoyed and short Tyler. Only difference was on Friday, August 30th, he said he'd call me back on Monday. That he was going to "push it through." Blah blah blah. Dude. Just tell me you're not in network or that you can't do it or that you're too lazy to help. Tell me sooner than later so I can figure out another option instead of me chasing you down and calling you repeatedly like a crazy ex girlfriend. And that's what I did. I called my insurance, Aetna, and asked what the problem was. No problem. Aetna didn't understand why Tyler couldn't get his crap together. Aetna didn't understand why I didn't have a pump yet. They referred me to yummymummystore.com and aeroflowbreastpumps.com. I got my new Spectra S1 in a week. Boom. EDIT TO ADD: I was on a three way call with Aetna and yummymummystore.com when YummyMummy verified my benefits and got the approval. Took TWO MINUTES. Tyler, why you lyin', man? Ladies, BEING PREGNANT AND BEING A NEW MOM IS HARD AS HELL. Waiting around for weeks on top of weeks for a breast pump is stress you don't need. So disappointed. Dad has pancreatic cancer and have the Whipple procedure we live in Whittier but the surgery was done at Cedar hospital. Not to many people are familiar with the Whipple procedure basically the cut your a stomach open from top to bottom like a upside down Y. How to get a chair for him called told him what we needed they delivered it the delivery driver was very. However 1st off it was old raggedy chair secondly it leaned back way too far and he was unable to recline so if you have a stomach surgery was difficult to get up. This was done on late Saturday evening. They were closed on Sunday so 1st thing Monday morning we call to return it asking for a refund not or that delivery fee of $45 even though it was down the street. Just a pro rated refund for the one day we used at out of the $150 for the month. Mind you my dad is passing and We returned it as soon as possible (Monday). I've been in contact with Tayler many times and still 3 weeks later have still not received an answer regarding a refund. Truly disappointing that this company is dealing with people during times of illness. Yet has no compassion. Personally I would name given him one star but it wouldn't let me proceed without giving him 1 star. read more

We were new to dealing with a bone fracture and required a boot. The doctor provided us with a list of locations to choose from. Unfortunately, we picked the wrong one. Initially, I left the patient in the car while I enquired about the prescription. The person who assisted me, I believe he is the owner, stated that it wasn't necessary to see the patient. The boot proved to be too much for the elderly patient, so we returned to see if there were other options. Unfortunately, there weren't, so we returned the unused item. The boot was partially paid for by Medicare and we paid the remaining amount out of pocket. We were advised that processing the return would take around a month. This occurred four months ago in April, and we still haven't received a refund. They charged Medicare $300 and us $60 for a product that was never used and was not properly fitted. I plan to contact Medicare to discuss this further. I wanted to share this experience to caution others. read more

PRICE SWITCHERS** July 29th - I called to get a price on the rental of an over-bed trapeze. I spoke to Jason, who immediately stated that he needed to put me on hold to check the rate and whether they have them. When he returned to the phone, he said that they did have them. I confirmed that I needed one that to use with my mother's adjustable bed. He confirmed and quoted me a monthly rental price of $95.99 for the trapeze, $49.99 for the base. He asked if I would like delivery for $45.00, which he mentioned could be delivered the same day. We agreed on the price, and I requested delivery the following day to allow me time to move the bed, etc. He confirmed. And said they would be in contact to let me know a delivery time. Fifteen minutes after my call with Jason, I received a voicemail from Tyler, the manager who called to inform me that the actual price for the trapeze would be $230 per month. When I called back to ask about the HUGE price increase, Jason told me that the computer inventory system was not accurate and the available inventory was for a $230.00 trapeze, not the $95.00 one. Jason began to seem annoyed when I explained that he had specifically checked on rate and inventory before quoting the rate. He then said, "If you don't want to pay the $230, then don't rent it!" I asked to speak to his manager. Tyler, the manager, came to the phone. I explained the situation in detail. Tyler said he understood how frustrating it must be and that he would look into it further. I asked Tyler to help make it right as I still had a few days before my mother's surgery, and perhaps he would have equipment returned or could find the $95 trapeze at another store where he might have a good relationship. He said he would see what he could do and call me back in a day or two. NO RETURN CALL! To make this even worse, I mentioned the situation to my father, who then informed me that he had a similar experience with A.M.E. in April when he rented a hoist. They quoted him one price and then called back to change the price. My father was desperate and accepted the higher rate. I would like to thank AME Inc for Golden Technologies lift chair they custom ordered for my disabled wife and delivered, service could not have been better. In early August 2021 AME Inc. and Golden Technologies service took a 180 degree turn when electrical wiring problems started under warranty. They took a report and several weeks later inspected the chair, fixed it and then that failed after several service calls. In late September Golden Technologies took the chair back to the factory and eventually rewired the chair "due to manufacturing installation errors". The lift chair was finally delivered back in late October 2021. All during this time of 3 months my wife was in medical agony not having her lift chair to sit in. Now again, since April 2022 the lift chair is having electrical problems of frayed wiring and moaning creaks, 6 months after repair, we have not a definitive response as of this date June 6, 2022 from AME Inc or Golden Technologies. Emails and phone calls go unreturned as to status request updates, with promises that they will call/email with updates. What does one do when they have a disabled spouse or relative that relies on something and the vendor and the manufacturer are not responding? AME Inc blames Golden Tech and Golden Tech told us to deal with the vendor for customer service. We are patient people, but no longer. What a great find! I was needing a short cam walker, and I messaged the business to see what I would need and if they took my insurance. I received a prompt reply, letting me know what I need to provide. That same day I was sent a picture of what was in stock and told they would be held so I could try them both on. I went in and she and I went over all of the supplies that I would need to stop the leakage. I took the supplies home and the leakage stopped. Went in to purchase equipment a few days ago and service was great. Representative made recommendations of additional equipment I would need to help during my recovery and that my insurance would cover that all I needed was a prescription. Turns out nothing she recommended was covered under insurance so today's trip back was a waste. Over priced items I could purchase thru Amazon for half the price. Representative that assisted showed no empathy and more of a "oh well you were given wrong information " attitude. Based on my experience customer service is not what keeps this location open for business. I would definitely be returning equipment even if I'm charged a restocking fee My review has nothing to do with what my insurance covers or does not cover. Again, it has everything to do with the misinformation you gave me which was that if I was to get a prescription for the equipment you recommended I would not pay anything else because I met my deductible. This was information you gave me after reviewing my insurance. At this point you would've known that the equipment you recommended was not covered but yet you told me no such thing. Instead my dad drove to your location and wasted his time. To make matters worse your representative did not help the situation with his oh well attitude. If I could give 0 stars, I most definitely would. Rented a portable ramp because my father is a disabled Vietnam Veteran and he fell and needed help getting inside our home. I understand the rental period is for one month, I signed a contract and of course the portable ramp did not work out for us. I rented this ramp before 6pm and took it back after I dropped my dad off at dialysis the next day, at around 9:30am. I didn't have the rental for 24 hours and guess what? I was charged $190.75! I took it back and was told the rental didn't go through and I wouldn't be charged and low and behold, the next day, I was charged. I called AME and was told due to policy and because I rented it for a month, the company was going to charge me. I explained that I took it back as soon as possible and I didn't even use it because it didn't fit and no, due to policy there was nothing that could be done and I was going to be charged. My father is a disabled Vietnam Veteran. He is on a fixed income. It's not like he has $190.75 to just throw away. If a company would rather focus on their policy than on a customer, who did everything to make sure they wouldn't be charged, than I urge anyone who is thinking of going to this company to think twice and go somewhere else. I get it, we are just a number and a company has to make money, but if this is how they make their money, well, it's quite sad. I will be sure to never go back now and my dad and I have been coming here for quite some time. But when nothing can be done and it's not like $190.75 is chump change, I will make sure my dad and I go elsewhere, where we are not just a number but treated with dignity. read more

The worst dishonest company ever. They took deposit twice and never return it for over a year. I rented a hospitalized breast pump even i paid some high amount of shipping fee( i live in CA but i paid more than 30 just for shipping). The delivery was late it was shipped three days after my labor day, but i understood. I rented the breast pump Nov. 2014, and then i shipped back the breast pump within the rental period. ( maybe May 2015) Couple month ago, me and my husband realized the deposit check from AME hasn't been received. So we asked about the deposit by mail and checked our card statements just for sure. And we found out AME took $500 deposit twice which was amount $1000, and did not return it. We mailed AME about this situation, they wanted us to attach our bank or card statement so we did it. AME answered that they could not find out our deposit history but would look for it. (Dec. 14.2015) so we waited again. Today I call AME ask about my deposit, they answer me couldn't find the deposit history, and would look for what happen was. Almost over three month, AME has tried to find their deposit history, but they still did not know it. This is a reason they hold $ 1000 as a deposit for a year. Does anyone think AME even concern a bit about customer? I will update it until i get my deposit check and a proper apology about the laziness and dishonest. Popped in this afternoon to purchase two replacement screws for my Mom's wheelchair arm rest. I was promptly assisted and advised by Tyler that the screws would be free of charge. He even offered to reinstall the arm rest if any assistance was needed. In this day and age where most businesses seek to squeeze every nickel and dime possible, I felt this was truly generous. While it might have been a small gesture for the Staff of AME, this kindnesses made a long lasting impression on my family and me. Thank you Tyler and AME. One last thing I feel the need to express: Prior to leaving negative reviews for medical suppliers like AME, be sure that you're criticizing the correct entity. Remember AME is the middle man between you and your insurance carrier (perhaps Medicare). Any delays, refusals, billing issues, etc. may NOT be AME's fault...it could be a problem on your insurance company's end. Don't take out your frustrations on the messenger. However at the end of our contract when we returned our rental, what we were told was now diffetent. Janelle was unfriendly, unprofessional and lacked social skills. Someone actually picks up every time i've called them, and it's either been the very person I need to talk to, or I am transferred right away to the right person, who picks up right away. When is customer service ever so easy?? They responded right away to all my questions, explained my options clearly, and took the time to go over things a second time when I needed it. very helpful! and cheery :-) the pump is supposed to go out tomorrow, so I may update after I receive it to let you know my experience with getting my order. but, so far, so good!! definitely recommend. they were WAY more helpful than my insurance company in knowing what would actually be covered! PS I found them through the Medela company's website that listed them as a DME that took insurance. my insurance company only gave me 3 options for DMEs when I called them, and none of them carried the pumps I was interested in.
