Tyler of AME Medical Supply in Whittier was extremely helpful when we went in search of a more useful walker chair(lighter wt.). By nature walker/chair devices are use specific. My wife had been reviewing light weight devices when she went to AME in Whittier. Tyler was there to HELP with experience he understood what we needed. He directed us to combination walker/ wheelchair. He demonstrated a model that was light, transportable, with innovative wheels that provided convertibility. It was an innovative transport development that we had not seen before. TYLER asked us to try out, lift/weigh, sit/fit, try/drive a fully immersive demonstration. I can tell you that there are number of stores, online vendors that provide equipment/devices for a growing Senior segment with needs beyond Wheelchairs. Fortunately we have retailers like AME, Whittier Calirornia who have not abandoned their customers. They are here to serve our needs. We need to give them them the opportunity to show us what is available now. Our physical abilities may have diminished but AME of Whittier may the right store for you too. TYLER was there for us, a telephone operator, a customer service representative, product representative was not needed. Amazon, Wal-Mart, SAM'S, COSTCO are all good purposed vendors. Service Needs are not all the Same. AME Whitter, may be able to meet your needs in a professional environment with products, you can, see touch and evaluate for yourself before you make a decision. I have always had great experiences using AME services. I have gotten 2 breast pumps and formula for my children. I had the best customer service I was able to call in and put things on hold so when I went in everything was ready for pick up. They do work with insurance company's so it was super easy and hassle free. All I needed was a prescription from my dr. My insurance paid 175 dlls for a breast pump, and today I received a breast pump without a box ( which makes me feel I got a refurbished product ) the Brest pump is a " real bubee " which sells for less than 40 dlls.. not at all what I was expecting. I have a baby girl at the NICU and really need a good quality Brest pump. Very disappointed with the service and product. Would not recommend doing business with a company so deceiving. read more

i love 'pardon our construction' signs. usually means the location is getting a facelift, so even getting to the good can be an adventure. i felt like i was in that ET tent scene walking through a maze, finally getting to the sales floor. where i was greeted by a big ol' smile from a cute young lady. i told her what i came here for and she delivered. i was in and out in 7 minutes tops. they do take plastic. and there's six parking spots if i recall correctly. they've got a good selection of equipment for your medical needs. check em out. read more

Over the phone quoted $75 and told if I rent in the PM on a Sat. I could return Monday morning and only pay for one day. When I got there, they were out of $75 scooters and I was told I had to pay $90 and for 2 days at $180. But, since it was Mother's Day, they'd give it to me for a week for $175. Needed a hospital bed for my dad recovering from a major accident and surgeries. Had little time because needed it to be at the house before he was discharged from hospital. AME was super helpful on the phone, delivered the very next morning and showed my mom how to use the bed. Really helped him be comfortable and recover at home. read more

I have to say that today I was very disappointed! Had to pick up a hospital grade breast pump, got it home and there was no suction so I had to use my house one which worked a whole lot better. It hadn't even been 24 hours we took it back and the piece they had us buy which was almost the same price to rent the pump. They wouldn't reimburse nor work with us on giving some of the money back. Very disappointed that the knee scooter I need is not available. They say they have 17 people on the wait list for the 25 knee scooters they own. I've received equipment from them in the past without any difficulty. A wheelchair is not a viable option for someone who wants to be independent and active while recovering from surgery or an injury. read more

Called to get replacement parts for my grandma's cane, asked customer service rep if they could wait 2 minutes for me to pick up the part, and she said no. I literally live 2 minutes away, I even told her I'd be right there it was 4:58, she told me no, they were leaving, and I can try another time. I get that everyone wants to head home at the end of a long day. But I live a half mile away and she didn't care. If that's not horrible customer service, I don't know what is. read more

I went into AME today with a list of supplies for my 87yr old mother in law who is coming home from rehab. I had circumstances with making this purchase. I spoke with Tyler, he understood my situation what I thought would be a problem wasn't. He was so polite, helpful, friendly and GREAT customer service. I literally stood there and read off my list and he grabbed everything. I explained what kind of wheelchair I needed and the first one he picked was exactly what we needed. The worse company I have ever deal with! They are liers and will never deliver the equipment they promise. I came out from a total hip replacement surgery and I was in the need of a walker and a comode and this people left me in a hotel room laying down in a bed not being able to walk to a bathroom because they never provide the equipment. For a day! They always have an excuse they will send my stuff with a special carrier but couldn't provide a name or a phone number to contact??? Experience with AME has been nothing but excellent in regards to customer service. I, however, haven't been to the store. I corresponded with KT via email regarding my breast pump order. I received their information off the Medela website and decided to give them a try. Since we first started communicating, KT made it such a quick and simple process. I provided my insurance information and was told the pump was covered. I needed a prior auth from my physician and unfortunately AME wasn't the DME company my insurance recommended. I mentioned this to KT...a little disappointed because I had already been dealing with AME. I was told not to worry, send a copy of the prior auth to AME to see what could be done. Within a day I got a reply and was told the pump will be sent to me. I received it with next day UPS shipping! Thanks for the wonderful customer service. I needed a kneeling scooter after breaking a bone in my foot on Labor Day. Tyler was extremely helpful and polite. He explained everything I needed to know, showed me how to use the scooter--even gave me a "little driving test." I was really nervous and scared about having to use the scooter for 4-6 weeks, but after leaving the store, I felt so much better.
