The condo was fresh, immaculate, better stocked than most, well decorated and very comfy. It was so truly inviting. We found the ocean front view spectacular, even better than expected. We so enjoyed many hours on the lanai. From the lanai we saw many turtles, whales and the gorgeous sunsets. We saw not only many rainbows but double rainbows!! We did not want to leave. We even tried to extend our stay but the airlines didn't cooperate. Oh well, at least we will be back to stay here very soon and many mores times after that. We've stayed at many nice places while in Hawaii, but until now, we've never found such a perfect place for such a remarkable price.

If you are coming…read moreto Hawaii to relax, this is a perfect place to ditch the kiddos, sit on the Lana'i and watch the gorgeous views. There were turtles right outside the sea wall everyday, we could even see them from the Lana'i. There's a small beach that you can swim in if you walk down the stairs as well. The condo itself was just like the pictures. Bed is pretty comfortable, shower is completely renovated and very nice floors. The kitchen has a nice big island and plenty of room in the refrigerator. There were also beach chairs, a rolling cooler, and beach chairs for us to use which was perfect. Kahana is pretty close to Kaanapali but if you want to spend time in Kihei or further south then it's kinda a trek (about an hour each way). That was the only downside. We also got a text from the property manager a day into our trip making sure everything was ok which was appreciated. We would definitely stay again!

It is the tropics, this is bound to happen when a house is not properly cleaned. We found beef jerky under the couch to be the culprit, rightly so. Lots of holes in the screens. The manager, Yvonne, I just don't even know where to begin. For whatever reason she felt compelled to share a story about a terrible stench in her yard from a pig in a plastic bag covered in maggots. She said the word maggots so many times we both stopped eating our ice cream. I asked her to please stop with the story, she just kept going. While we were there we dealt with so many unfortunate events that it really just ruined a full week of the three weeks we rented. The safe batteries died, my wallet was locked in the safe for four days. The pool wasn't heated, as advertised. Ice machine was broken. The largest hairball ever lodged in the upstairs bathroom sink, I did finally call and ask someone to come take care of it. Toilets never stopped running. Infestation inside the house of knatts. Holes in most every screen, some large holes from the rats coming in, but mostly just big tears. I spent a morning duct taping the holes and tears in the screens, yay vacation! Lots of rat poop, lots. The first morning we were there we woke to an amazing amount of ants coming out from under the bread box on the counter, we moved the breadbox to find a half rotted, half eaten lizard. I wrote a letter to the owner, no money was refunded. I called the company we rented through, they did not return my calls. We did previously rent this house, winter of 2016, our experience was so lovely that we decided to rent for three weeks in the winter of 2017. Our 2017 trip was awful. The house had changed so much in a year, management was burnt out and rude.

When I was looking for reasonable accommodations for family and friends to stay on Maui for my…read moreHawaiian wedding, I checked out several condominiums in the Kihei area. From all the reviews I read on various sites, Koa Lagoon was the best choice. After talking with Linda, the on-site manager, I was sold. My family, friends and I booked several rooms, including two bedroom and one bedroom suites. Everyone was impressed and very satisfied. I stayed in a two bedroom suite, room 304. We arrived late, and our key was left in a lock-box on the door. I must admit that the Koa Lagoon is not much to look at from the outside (kind of reminded me of a college dorm) but the inside (and the lanai) more than made up for that. The condo is right on the ocean, and each room has a lanai with an ocean view. Our two bedroom had one master bedroom with a king sized bed and a private bathroom, and the second bedroom had two twin beds and a bathroom across the hall. The beds were comfy and there were extra linens in the closet. The bathrooms were fully stocked with several sets of towels. The condos are fully stocked with everything you might need and things you didn't realize you needed, but end up using. We were pleased to find boogie boards, large beach towels, beach blankets, shade tents, a beach umbrella, a cooler, grill utensils, and everything you might need in the kitchen, except the food. Our group saved a lot of money by cooking in and grilling as we purchased most of our groceries at the Safeway nearby. The condos each have a washer and dryer and this was a huge benefit. We didn't have to return home with dirty laundry, and were able to do all our laundry for free in our own rooms, rather than lug them to a laundromat or community laundry room. They provided us with laundry detergent as well as dishwasher detergent, but we ended up getting more mid-trip to replace their stock. The ocean view is amazing, and actually, this condo sits in a great spot. We watched whales from our balcony daily, and also noticed some things that kept popping out of the water, but from our room, we couldn't tell what they were. Unfortunately, we didn't find out until our second to last day that the beach directly south of the Koa Lagoon (a two minute walk) is a turtle nesting area. What we had been seeing were sea turtles. It ended up being a great area to snorkel, and is fully protected by the reef. It is also a great spot for wading if you aren't that big in to snorkeling. There is an in-ground pool on the property also, and we used this frequently after we had finished our beach hopping for the day. Most of the people by the pool were residents, or long time guests, and it was never crowded. We had several people tell us they spend months there each year, and one woman even offered to let us borrow her kayak to go out to see the whales. We watched her kayak out right near whales the day before. Amazing. The Koa Lagoon is centrally located and is close to a lot of great restaurants & beaches. It's not in the heavy touristy area (that's a few minutes further down on S Kihei Road) and this was really nice. We always felt like we were alone in our condo complex, and rarely saw other people. It was great, because we used the grill every night and never had to wait around for it. I will definitely be headed back to the Koa Lagoon for my next Maui trip. Now that I have stayed there, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The value, location, management, and added comforts were beyond what I expected and I couldn't be more pleased that this is where we stayed :)

We had to last-minute book a place a month before we headed to Maui because our original AirBnB…read morecanceled. This was the the only option in our area, so we had to select one of their condos. Check-in was fine, but we had to go to their main office specifically between 3-4 or a different location if we checked in after that. We signed our papers and then headed to Kihei Akahi. The two stars are for the location - very close to food and the beach as well as a good jumping off point for starting the road to Hana. Our door has a key code lock so that was a nice touch. However, there was no hot water (or even water hotter than lukewarm) and when we called the building manager, they suggested we use a pool house outside of the building if we wanted hot water to shower because their water heater was broken. Also, you have to empty the water pan under the AC unit frequently or else be charged $100 if it leaks onto lower units. We checked in right before leaving for a luau and luckily we went to see the water level - it was already overflowing and we had just gotten there! We had to bail it out with bowls from the kitchen before emptying it out into the kitchen sink. Additionally, after coming back our first night from a luau, we were horrified to see tons of tiny ants and cockroaches running around the kitchen and on the walls once we turned the light on. We realized they were coming from the sink and after we killed as many as we could or knocked them down the drain, we put a bowl over it to try and keep them out. Didn't really work, as we found some on the walls of the living room area and bathroom. If we were planning on cooking our own meals, we would've had to buy disinfectant or something first because after seeing all those bugs I would've felt disgusting using the kitchen and I avoided it as much as possible. You can only call this company between 8am and 4pm, so I couldn't call that night. We left for Road to Hana at about 6:30am and didn't get back until 6:30pm, and I never had service on that trip so I could call and let them know. When I did get a hold of them before checkout, the woman said she wished I had let her know earlier so they could have sprayed it before the next guests arrive. She apologized a few times, but it wasn't very sincere and I wasn't impressed. Lastly, checkout is very involved. You have to throw out all the trash, start the dishwasher, and start at least one load of laundry, although they ask if you can start a second if you have time. This is because they have like a four-hour window to turn condos over before the next unsuspecting guests walk in and get to experience the mess this condo was for us. Bad customer service, gross and outdated condo, but good location.
