I believe in supporting local independent businesses...but sometimes it bites you. Before reading this review, I want you to know that due to my job I can potentially be exposed to Covid-19 on a daily basis, and rather than thanking any chances of exposing my family, I have been living in our RV since March, including the night before we took it in the Sunset RV. Mind you we keep the RV under cover at home...and brought it in because of cracked vent covers that leaked and an electrical issued. When we arrived and met with the guy, we went over the issues and he wrote down what we wanted done. After we had covered everything, he said they would contact me in 3 day, I didn't hear from them, so I called and left a message on their voicemail. (we had over 2 inches of rain that night) and the next day I still had not received a callback, so I tried emailing them...still nothing. The following day I called again but didn't leave message since they didn't respond to the first one. They finally got back to me to say the electrical issue was taken care of and to ask if we want them to repair the vent cover? Seriously??? That was on our list...so I said YES and asked where our RV was being stored the last week since it had been raining so much...he didn't answer, just asked when we wanted to pick it up. I asked when it would be ready...he said he'd have to check and get back to me in the afternoon (Surprise...no call until the next day). When we arrived to pick it up, I was concerned to see it parked on the street (same spot we'd left it a week before)...AND that only ONE of the 5 vent covers had been replaced. When I went inside to check it out...OMG, there was water behind the bathroom sink (where they HAD replaced the vent cover) AND a puddle of water on the bed....as well as the bed soaked through to the mattress...the severity I didn't even realize until I got home and removed the bedding & mattress from the bed...and found the bed platform wood wet! Upon further inspection, I found that we now have mold around the windows which I know wasn't there the day we took it in because I took Christmas lights off the dining area windows that morning before we took it in. The veneer on the bedroom cabinets is peeling off and the entire RV smells, and I'm still not done checking everything out. When someone brings you an RV and tells you that it leaks, and you only have it for one week...during which there is torrential rains, and the RV LEAKS....you shouldn't act surprised. Why wouldn't you cover it or store it in a covered area if it leaks?? Why wouldn't you done a walk-thru BEFORE the customer comes to pick it up? Now I have to replace the mattress (less than 2 years old), spend hours cleaning the RV, most likely replace the veneer on the cabinetry in the bedroom, dry out everything and who all knows what else!!! My support of this local business is now going to cost me several hundred dollars IN ADDITION to still having to get all the other 4 Vent Covers. I will NEVER take my RV to Sunset RV again!!!! read more

If I could give Sunset RV a minus Zero if I could. I brought my trailer in for an estimate on damage caused by a blow out on one of the tires. I was told they would get right on it. I called and called, wrote emails and they finally get an estimate 16 days later. When I dropped the trailer off I was NEVER told there was a $165/day storage fee. By the time they did tell me the cost of fees was already up to $2,560. It took several more weeks for them to respond to my insurance company. I finally told them I don't want them to fix my trailer and they told me there was nearly $10,000 due for storage fees. My insurance (Geico, who have been fantastic during this whole thing) finally settled with them for a reduced fee of $5,775. They accepted but when I said I would pick up my trailer they told me I was responsible for the other $5,000+ in fees. And they said I was also responsible for parts they had ordered. Well, I checked with their supplier (Gulfstream Corp who are the ONLY ones through which they can order the parts) and was told by the Parts manager that no parts had been ordered. So they lied and said they had already ordered the parts when they had not and that they could not return them and I was responsible for those parts. The Gulfstream parts manager refuted that saying they can certainly return parts. I initially OK'd the work on the trailer and the owner Steve told me they had ordered parts right after our phone call on July 26th. I cancelled the work order on July 29. I received an email from the parts manager telling me they finally tried to order the parts on Aug 1st which is well after I cancelled the work order. So he was trying to charge me for parts he had never ordered and then tried to order the parts just so he could charge me for them. When I confronted Steve with the facts he became angry and hostile as his lie was found out. He told me that if I come on his property he will have me arrested for trespass. I was deceived and lied to from the very first day I dealt with them on June 5th. It is now August 2nd and I am facing over $10,000 for storage fees I was never told about when I dropped off the trailer. All I wanted was an estimate and now I'm losing my trailer. This company has lied to me, tried to cheat me, and is now, in the words of the owner Steve "gonna take your trailer for the storage fees". Sunset RV is a predator. DO NOT for any reason give your business to them and certainly do not let them take possession of your trailer or they could take it from you based on lies and deception. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would....I have given this place 3 chances.... each time I've gone in, they are unprepared to help, don't have supplies needed, are unknowledgeable in the products and just wanted to read the instructions to me, which I could have done myself. This is a garbage business. The sales person Steve is extremely hard to deal with and very unreachable most of the time. The paperwork mistakes and lack of knowledge this company has has inconvenienced us for several months and possibly cost us an 8% fee through our credit union for the delays. Also, the "Vintage Cruiser" we purchased brand new has plastic parts falling off and the stickers already peeling. Only been three months! I realize there is good and bad with any dealership, but it is our recommendation to avoid this place. This is a really nice place that does restoration of vintage trailers. I don't own one,, wish I did but they sure were cute to look at. So... A week has gone by... A while back, Joe's RV & Collision recommended Sunset RV to me when their workload wouldn't allow me to be added as a customer So... I call Sunset RV. No answer. I leave a message. no return call that day. The next day goes by. Nothing. I find their website, and I fill out a contact inquiry form. No reply to that for the remainder of the day and on into the next day. I call them. Leave another message. Nothing. ...but... Joe's RV & Collision recommended them, and Joe was pretty highly rated in Yelp, so I persist. I drive the 20 miles to their facility and speak directly to a woman there. I ask her if I could bring my RV around next week to have them look at it. She says sure; BUT... They'll charge me $198 dollars to do a 24 point inspection no matter what. I agree to that. Luckily, my RV is parked about a half mile away at a storage facility. I say "lucky", because the next week at the appointed time I show up, and am told that they really need for me to wait until the following Monday morning (another week away). The following week, I show up with my RV and Steve does a walkaround with me. I explain that the RV is coming out of 2 months of extensive mechanical work, and I need the following work done: 1.) I have a Microphor Microflush LF-210 air assisted toilet in my rig which is working fine, but it has a leaky valve and its internal water system needs some work. 2.) I have a Webasto DBW210 diesel fired heating system that doesn't appear to be coming on. 3.) My basement cargo doors aren't latching or locking properly, and I'd like for those to be fixed. 4.) I have some delamination on the body of the RV, and I'd like an estimate on repairs (both the complete "Tear Down" repair costs, and/or the inject epoxy laminating resin into bubbles and clamp down body). Finally, I tell Steve that my RV has a windshield appointment in Coburg, OR in 11 days (a week from that upcoming Thursday); so, I'll need to pull the RV out of their shop and drive it to Coburg to get glass work done, and then if there's additional work needed, I'd drive it back to Sunset. He says that's perfectly workable. I head back to work. A week goes by. It's now another Monday. I haven't heard from Sunset this whole past week, and I didn't bother them because I didn't want to be a pest. I call again. Again no one answers (no one ever appears to answer). I leave a message reminding Sunset that I'm pulling my rig on Thursday afternoon to get its new glass installed. Finally, my very first returned call - Steve calls me back the following morning. He has bad news. The toilet? That was a poorly designed unit that never worked well. He's recommending that I replace the toilet with a newer toilet. Plus, the current toilet is piped into the upper side of the black tank. That's bad. It should always just go straight from the toilet right into the top of the black tank. He's recommending pulling the old toilet, cutting a new hole in the floor, pulling the tanks and rearranging where the black tank is to dump straight from the toilet into the top of the tank. He can do all this for $4,000!!! The Webasto Heating unit? That'll run me $3,000!!! The RV itself cost me $30,000 so with these two items, we're now near 25% of the total cost of my RV. Steve senses I'm getting frustrated, and says he'll show me what he means, and we'll cover the other items when I arrive on Thursday to pick up the rig. Thursday afternoon arrives. I show up at 3:15pm to pick up my RV. Steve meets me, tells me my rig is across the street in their other lot, and he'll grab the keys and meet me there. Except.... No keys. Another customer arrives just as Steve and I are heading out the front door. She's pissed that he gave her the wrong key for her outdoor shower. He dances a bit, spins a tale, and she eventually gives up and leaves. The search for my keys continue. All the techs on site are polled. None have the keys. Its 4pm. Now 4:30pm. Steve appears and says they can't find the keys, but they can have a locksmith onsite to make new keys tomorrow (Friday) morning at 11am (3 hours after my windshield appointment in Coburg). Instead, I call another mobile locksmith and get my keys made by about 6:30pm that night so I can keep my appointment. Sunset paid ($250) to have the keys made, and I did not pay the $198 inspection fee. In the end, when I pulled away, Sunset lost about $450 on the deal due to their extreme incompetence. I wasn't able to get all keys made, though. While in Coburg, I had the sneaky suspicion that I should get the rest of my keys made. I did. For another $130. That was Thursday - May 17th. It's now a week later and I never heard back from Sunset. No calls to say, "We've found your keys". No calls to say, "Sorry". No calls to even say, "Let's talk about your 24-pt. inspection". Nothing. BEWARE OF THE REPAIR DEPARTMENT! I tried to support a local business but now (and after reading the other bad reviews which sound a lot like this one), I'm glad I didn't. First, just try to call them. Just try it! Right now. They will not answer. They will not return calls if you leave a message. When I finally got through to "sales" to ask to be transferred to repair I was told that they were so busy that they didn't want more work. Just drop it off. They are my closest repair place (and I've actually had them do a battery job before which was fine, but I had just stopped by, rather than trying to call). I had called about a warranty repair to an awning, but they never called back (see above), so I stopped by yesterday to get an appointment for the estimate. The women in the office, who are nice, said come in anytime between 9 and 3 and I could get an estimate. I went in this morning around 10 am, and Steve said he was too busy and I would have to leave it for a couple of hours. The woman in the office arranged for me to be driven home. Around 4 pm, I hadn't heard from them, so I tried to call. Knowing that they wouldn't answer, I went to the name directory and tried the name of one of the office woman. Somehow, I ended up getting Steve, who is the repair guy. I asked him about my estimate. He said he hadn't gotten to it. I asked when it would be done. Steve said that I would just need to leave the RV there from now until they finished the repair. (The woman who helped me said that it could take 4-6 weeks for the replacement awning to even come.) I told Steve that I didn't want to leave the RV there indefinitely since it is summer. He berated me and told me that if I had to have a car collision repaired, I would need to leave the vehicle there. I told him that there is no reason for my RV to sit in his lot while we wait for the parts to come. He told me I should wait until I had a period of time that was long enough to leave it and then they would do the estimate/repair. He told me that was the way the RV repair business worked. He asked me if I had ever run a RV repair shop. I didn't bite to continue the discussion. I asked him to send someone to pick me up so that I could take my RV home. He said that they did not offer rides, but I told him that I had been taken home that very morning (approx. 2 miles). He said he had nobody available. I asked if I could be picked up in the morning - he said no. It was almost 4:30, but I decided to walk over because I was honestly starting to worry that there could be trouble getting the RV back from them, probably because Steve was so hostile to me on the phone. He told me I had to be there by 5 pm (but their website said they were open until 6 pm). I walked in at 4:55 and said I was there to pick up my RV. Steve pointed out my key on the counter, I took it and left. My RV was exactly where I had left it on the street that morning. After I got home, I called CampingWorld to find out their policies. I take it in to get the estimate, and then once the parts are received, they call me to set up a repair appointment. How hard is that? Why would I leave it at a place that never answers the phone for an indefinite amount of time in the middle of the summer travel season? If you've read this far, just try calling them. My husband and I bought our first RV from a private owner out of town, he assured us it was a good RV with no water damages or anything. we we're in love of what we saw and was hearing, we didn't know what to look for or what to inspect, we went with his word and it's beauty.Unfortunately we noticed after we bought it, it had over the cab issues that was Rotten and delamination. delamination is bubbles that is on the outer skin of the RV water damage, we have never heard of this before. we called Sunset RV to get it inspected. They told us it would take approximately a week to get back to us with all the inspection details and costs of repairs, just to bring it in and drop it off. So I said okay I'll be coming in dropping it off.I drove up in the RV and a kind gentleman came out of his office, I guess he was one of the inspectors I had forgotten his name. He was kind and asked to look at the RV right then and there. I told him what had happened and showed him the inside and everything. he knew right away that the RV that we have bought with every dime we had was junk. It was Rotten. the owner just covered it up.he asked if I had any lung problems and I said yes I do, I have asthma and a little COPD he asked if I could smell that oder I said yes he said that's mold. To be honest, we didn't smell that smell when we first looked at the RV. He said You can't sleep a day in this. This RV had more problems than what the RV was worth. I was literally shaking of all what I was hearing. And quite devastated. He showed me how to inspect an RV and what to look for. He told me to turn around and put our RV back up for sale and put project in the ad he said cut your losses if you have to, and then when you sale to let him know and he would would find us an RV that didn't need work. Our RV ended up sold within 24 hours with all our money back. my husband and I were both relieved. we can start over but this time not to be in such a hurry,to be patient is what the inspector advised. he showed me how to inspect a RV or trailer. Sunset RV just doesn't fix or Sale RVs they are there for you for all.your RV needs, if you need an inspection or pre- inspection before you buy. I think they should have a training class for first time buyers like ourselves so we can learn more of what to look for in buying used RVs. I'm sure a lot of people would come it would be so beneficial to Alot of people. and will appreciate learning important information that would save them time and money but most of all the devastation of what we went through. Steve Bacon was very rude. As soon as he found out I was a Trump supporter, his professional demeanor was icy. I listened to him explain that there was dry rot damage that he wasn't able to patch up. While we didn't see eye to eye on what could be done about the repairs, I just couldn't shake the feeling that he felt hostile towards me because of a disagreement about politics. Eventually, after being lectured about how I shouldn't own an RV because I'm neglectful, I asked him to move the RV outside the gate. He asked me if I didn't didn't trust him. Had a very nice buying experience at Sunset RV. Picked up a gently used travel trailer. Buying process was easy and professional. The salesperson followed up, but wasn't pushy. The trailer was completely cleaned, serviced and all issues we identified presale were fixed upon pickup. Service did a great job of doing the post sales walkthrough and was very detail oriented. Questions we had were answered. The owner said they'd take care of anything that we might find post delivery to ensure satisfaction as we couldn't test it all on the lot, and he was true to his word. We bought a trailer from them...as is...and yes, I know what that means. But, when Dominic (a salesman) was talking to us about it, he flat lied. He told us the tip-out top had been replaced, that what looked like water damage was really just wear & tear. The ant infestation in it took me over a month to get control of...costing me many nights in hotels as this was purchased to be our retirement home (Snow Birds 'n all). When I asked him to be honest so I knew what I would need to get repaired, he assured me the trailer was in great condition. We were told we would get a full pre-purchase inspection that we would be part of, but when we arrived to pick it up, it was rushed through by Robbie (unknown what he does there), Dominic wasn't even present & Steve, the manager, acted put out by us. Since then, we've found 7 different leaks, a tip-out that doesn't come all the way out & a broken awning unit...which we were told by Robbie, was 100% functional. We were given a 30-day appliance warranty, but when the refrigerator was not keeping cold, and having called daily, and ignored, for a week before we had finally had enough and just drove out there. Steve, the manager, was rude and told me they were too busy to make calls due to an RV show. WTF???? I will NEVER go back here...nor would I EVER recommend this place to anyone!!! Thanks Sunset RV for the worst vehicle purchase experience of my life! Nice folks, but, like other reviewers I have found them nearly impossible to reach by phone and the communication between them is nonexistent. I made an appointment to pick up my new RV and it wasn't ready, and was absolutely filthy. I decided to take it anyway and spent many hours cleaning it. Sawdust, wood scraps, and pink antifreeze were in every area of the unit. It was obviously not checked out as it had multiple issues that I elected to fix myself. Their business office was unable to complete my transaction within a reasonable time and the only thing that prevented repossession of my trade in was my relationship with the bank. After two warranty trips they still were unable to have the vehicle ready to use so I will be forced to pay someone else to do the upgrades that I ordered (and was assured would be over a week ago. Stay away from these people, they are polite and friendly to your face but their words and promises mean nothing. I bought a nice slightly used travel trailer just before the shut down. It was a very fair price and like any new RV purchase required a few upgrades to meet my needs. These upgrades were written into the purchase agreement before I was to take possession. I'm happy to say that each addition met with my approval and was accompanied exactly like we agreed upon. I also like the fact that if and when I need service I won't have to wait until I can be worked in. Everyone in sales as well as service has bent over backwards to be of assistance. I bought a vintage Aloha trailer back in November and I couldn't be happier with the deal. I had been casually looking for something reasonably priced and very simple to upgrade from tent camping. The wife fell in love with the vintage look at first sight. Lucky for me, the price on the website was less than the price listed on Craigslist. When I presented this to the salesperson, he was a bit perplexed, but did the right thing by giving me the lower listed price. The folks there were all very nice and helpful. They had me make a down payment, then wait to pick it up while they finished resealing the exterior. Since it was being sold as-is, they could have easily just sent it off with me without going the extra mile, but they truly wanted to make sure I was set up for success out in the rainy pacific northwest. The folks I interacted with were honest, and clearly loved what they do. The only downside was that they were a little unorganized (yes it was hard to reach them initially without just going in person), and seemingly understaffed/overwhelmed. They were a bit behind on sending the title after the purchase, and I can still find the trailer I bought from them posted in the pre-owned section of their website. That being said, all is well that ends well. I am extremely happy with my purchase and I would highly recommend these folks. If you are willing to be patient, you will find them to be a great place to purchase a trailer. Also, support local businesses! read more

We recently bought a trailer from Sunset RV and are overall very satisfied with our purchase. My wife and I stopped in to look at a new trailer and although it was not what we were looking. Steve was very helpful in addressing our needs and had a used trailer that fit the build perfectly. We shopped around looking at other makes and models and decided it was the one. They brought it in to the service department and went over everything making sure it all functioned like it should and even replaced a cupboard door latch. No communication at all which is very consistent from other reviews. Complaints were registered with Alda, but no apologies or explanation other than "our new summer intern must have done the work". He didn't try to sell us anything we couldn't afford and there were so many extra's that he threw in. Took my tent trailer in to SUNSET RV to be worked on. Had a crank assembly not working to raise top up. Talked to Steve November 2016. He said he would look at it and let me know the cost for the repair. He would work it in between other trailers he was working on. Would get back to me within 4 weeks. I was ok with this as it was in the middle of winter and I had no need to go camping until spring. We got hit with a few snow storms so did not press him. In January got a bit concern because I had not even gotten a call to up date me on the estimate on my repair. Left multiple message on their voicemail. No one would call me back. We decided to go by their place and see what was up, face to face. Talked to Steve again. His excuse was that RV's had come in with damage due to the storms and he put them first. Even though our trailer had been there since November. He advised he would get back to us with in 2 weeks. We waited again. No call. I drove by their place of business and noticed my trailer was still setting in their yard just where I had parked it back in November. Pretty much had decided at this time he was never going to get to my trailer. Sent my husband and son over to get my trailer so I could take it to someone who would work on my trailer. Was quote by another repair place in Dundee that he was sure it just needed the gears cleaned and oiled, would take him 1 hour and would charge me about $100.00 for that service. When they got there they were told at this time that Steve was not in, he was at the RV show in Portland. They had already done the work and there was a balance due. Well over $500. They had done the work but never call to give me an estimate or get approval to do the work at any cost. Then we were told that they could not find the crank handle, keys, hitch lock and key for my trailer. My husband and son came home with out the trailer. I was called the next morning by Alda and informed they had found the crank handle and my keys I could come get it the next week that Steve would be back from the RV show. Well I headed over after my work on Monday to get my trailer. I got there and only Alda was there. Was informed I had a balance due. I refused to pay the amount they said they were charging me for this service. I was actually told that if I would not pay the amount that they would put it back the way it was. They had not replaced any part only cleaned gears and oiled it. How in the heck were they going to put it back to the way it was. I was not about to leave my trailer there so they could damage it and then give it back to me. Did they really think I was that big of an idiot. I called the local police to have them come over to assist me in getting my trailer back. I had not signed anything. You don't just do work and expect people to pay for it. Alda finally contacted Steve and we agreed on me paying the amount the other repair place quoted me for the same service. Should have never paid anything for it but I was not out to screw them even though I felt I was being screwed. Went out to hook up my trailer and noticed my hitch lock was missing. They gave me my crank handle and a key for the trailer. It was raining hard so just took it and left. The next day we went out and cranked the top up to make sure it did work. At that time I found the key they gave me was not even to my trailer. Went back in to talk to Steve to get my key, hitch lock and key. He brought out a bowl of hitch locks and told me to pick out mine. There was one similar to mine so I took it. He still had no idea what happened to my keys. Told me if I brought my trailer back in he would change the lock and give me a new set of keys. "Really" Doing any more business with them was not going to happen. When I got home with the hitch lock, my husband informed me that was not ours. Was not going back to deal with this again. To give you a time line to this. I got my trailer back the first week in March 2017. This was a nightmare that just would not go away. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

The ceiling of our 1987 motor home drooped due to water damage. Fortunately, we encountered Steve from Sunset RV at an RV show where he was showing a restored vintage trailer. We took Harvey to his shop where he quickly identified the problem, one that was inherent in the original construction of the vehicle. He devised a solution and had his associate, Nick, expertly and with great craftmanship fix the problem by reconstructing the roof and refinishing the inside. After reading a review where someone was rushed through their RV walk through I went in a bit nervous, but that was not our experience at all. We spent an hour and a half looking through the 5 year old RV we bought. Everything was throughly explained and every question answered. We were not rushed into a single thing. We bought a new Gulf Stream Vintage Cruiser from Steve Bacon and his team, and we love our trailer. Our experience at Sunset RV was very positive, and the trailer seems very well made and very thoughtfully laid out. We had a concern about a possible gas leak, took it over to Sunset and they went through it and didn't find a gas leak, it was the melted paint that you can get with new equipment. These guys are top notch. I bought a travel trailer that I thought was good to go. It wasn't very old so I figured it should be in great shape. Well the day I payed it off we took a trip to the beach and I noticed a crack in the sidewall had developed. Uh oh. So I started asking around and got a few good responses from people who have used sunset. They had me bring it right in and Roger knew right away that I had an issue in my slide. He told me it's fixable and asked if I wanted a free roof inspection. I said sure and that when it got ugly. He found rot in both corners. I told him I didn't know what I could do because I didn't have the money to re roof at this point. I thought maybe I was going to have to just sell the trailer for a huge loss but Roger told me he would talk to his boss and see if they could help me out. They called me back a couple days later and had a quote to fix everything. It was within the little budget I had somehow so I told them go for it. When I picked up the trailer after it was all done I couldn't believe the work they had done. I asked them to please stay as close to the quote as possible and it came out under. I recommend these guys to anyone with RV issues. Roger is a fantastic tech with tons of knowledge and Steve is a great person to deal with and is always looking for a solution. read more

I had a great experience with Steve and his team at Sunset RV. I brought my older Terry trailer over to Sunset RV to have them look at the trailer brakes (brakes, not brake lights), which were failing, the water heater, and furnace. First impression was, "OK, this is not a big business, but they're close by and they took me in without much of a wait. However, I was really impressed when Alda, who received the trailer asked me when I was planning my next camping trip (Note that I had come right in the middle of the busy season for their shop). I relayed a date that was less than a week away and she said their schedule was tight, but they would try to get it done. In fact, there were quite a few trailers in their lot getting repair done. I was surprised that they got everything done in time for my 10-day camping trip, except for the water heater, which had parts on back order (which were going to arrive a couple days later). Steve was also trying to find out if he could expedite the parts delivery somehow. I decided to take the trailer as-is so I could leave for my trip on-time. The furnace worked great and the brakes worked great, too. On the trip home, the trailer brakes started acting up again, so I took it back in (Steve said "no wait, just bring it straight in"). Again, they asked me if I had a camping trip planned and I said "Yes, in three-four days." Again, their schedule was tight, but they worked very quickly. They made the final water heater fixes and replaced the trailer wiring connector/plug to the truck. Now, this is what impressed me: This experience was NOT like a big shop that would turn it back to me after having my trailer for three or four weeks and say, "Works for us, too bad not for you." No, no.... These guys wanted to make sure that the Trailer worked perfectly with my truck. So, Steve called me in to work with his technician to do some more troubleshooting with the brakes. He did a lot of checks both on the trailer, with another truck, as well as my own truck's plug receptacle. He finally decided that he would talk to a service tech at Ford to see if there were any issues with sensitivity to grounding or shorts on the truck side of things.... Clearly he went the extra mile to get this figured out. They were determined that they have my trailer ready for me to take on my next camping trip. It got all fixed and was ready to go in time! I like the more personal service, especially their efforts to satisfy me that the whole truck & trailer system worked perfectly together. You probably cannot get service like that at a bigger, high-volume company. In fact, at those bigger companies--not that they're bad at all, but I had never even met the tech who works on my trailer at the larger service centers. Here, things are clearly different. Service at Sunset RV was nice, supportive, and personal. Lastly, I was NOT charged an arm and a leg. He left some of the itemized work off the bill. I even tried to tip them, but they refused, preferring that I just spread the good word about Sunset RV. So, here it is... GREAT EXPERIENCE. read more

We brought a 1979 Western Wilderness camper to Steve to have it checked out. The darn thing needed a ton of work, which he showed us. He rebuilt all the rotten parts and sent us pictures of the work so we could see what was being done and why. He honored his estimate, although we did end up paying a little more for things that you just couldn't know ahead of time. He showed us how to work different things on the camper and instructed us on safety issues. We will be taking the camper back for free checks over the next year and for maintenance beyond that. I would not hesitate to take a camper here for work. read more

I've had multiple experiences with Sunset RV now and to say I am absolutely satisfied would be an understatement. They have worked on two RVs for me. First, I have a 1992 Fleetwood Tioga motorhome that was leaking around the rear window and I had done everything I could including recaulking the window twice so I thought it might be another problem like the window seals. Steve diagnosed the problem, gave me an estimate (mostly labor) that I thought was reasonable, then when I picked up the motorhome the bill was LESS than the estimate. Most places would have billed me the estimate, how would I know that it took less time than the estimate? Anyhow it has been 6 months and we have had several gully-washers and I have yet to see one single drop of water in the rear of my coach. Then, I decided to have slide toppers (awnings) installed on my 2013 Komfort 35' travel trailer. Camping World had a heck of a sale going, but Steve matched the Camping World installed price (he even beat it a little). AND they went to storage (not too far away), picked up my trailer and brought it to the shop to work on, then returned the trailer to storage when done. And unlike Camping World, I paid when the work was done, not 100% in advance. Sunset RV is a great example of a low-pressure, customer oriented local business. They are there to help people, not to make a quick buck. I had some other things I was considering doing to my 1992 motorhome and although Sunset RV would have benefited financially, Steve did a great job of explaining why the benefit to me would not be worth the cost. I definitely would not hesitate to do more business with them in the future. read more

We brought my girlfriends 1992 RV in to have a few things checked out on it. We didn't have any work done to it but Steve (owner) answered all of our questions, went over some things he noticed and gave us some helpful advice on possible future problems we could experience later with it. If something ever comes up that needs fixed, I would definitely give Steve a call. I would recommend Sunset RV to my family and friends. read more

Sure wish I had read the Yelp reviews before 'attempting' to do business with Sunset RV. I have a Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser 19' travel trailer....as they became dealers for this brand after I purchased mine, I figured they might be a good local 'Go To'. Not so much. It is my considered opinion that the project manager (Steve, mentioned in other reviews) has taken on a job he is not qualified for nor competent within. It took them THREE weeks to repack the wheel bearings...they did nothing to help with the awning (I think they might have actually burned out the motor, as they stated it 'worked for them'....though now the motor is burned out. The entertainment system never worked (Thanks gulf stream, eh?)...but they were no help with that either. When moving it around, it appears they bent the entry step...which I have 're-adjusted' , with a 12lb sledge. Crude but highly effective. I would suggest doing whatever you need to do to avoid darkening their door. The actual owners are absentee....the office manager, (Olga) is a gem and will actually give you the courtesy of a return phone call. Steve, never did, even after I 're-educated' him about his discourtesy.....but the inside staff cannot hold a broken system together. I suggest the owners best pay a bit of attention and replace the broken link in their revenue stream. read more
