I'm so surprised by all the bad reviews here. I came here for the first time today and the girl I got absolutely CRUSHED IT and gave me exactly what I wanted based on the picture I showed her (tortoise shell french manicure), and the price was totally reasonable. As much as I want to gatekeep her.. her name is Hong and she was amazing. So I think maybe it is hit or miss service based on who you get. The place could be a little cleaner so I agree with others in that regard, but I'm still super happy with the results. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY!! I got a full acrylic set and noticed after leaving, there was a random glob of glue cured onto one nail, uneven shaping, and French tips that didn't reach the ends. Would NOT recommend anyone to come here. Their service is cheap and fast, and the quality of their work also says so. I showed the nail tech at booth 7 a picture of what i wanted, she did NOT follow the art that was on the pic. Even laughed because she knew it wasn't good. I'm sure I'm with lots of other customers when I say that it's easier said than done, to correct their art on the spot. It makes me uncomfortable. And I walked around with nails I hated for 2 weeks after that trying to justify my purchase. Also, no where on the website did it say that they accept CASH ONLY. When I booked my appointment online I was expecting a card exchange available, it wasn't until I was sat down almost done with my nails that I saw a sign that said cash only. Thankfully I was able to have someone bring me cash to pay. What an inconvenience! This place is also packed to the brim with supplies that are very disorganized and make the space feel unwelcoming and unclean. First time customer, as well as last time customer, here. Unkempt, appears nobody has cleaned, or at least picked up around this salon in years. The tech will automatically upsell your service without your consent. Even after addressing the add-ons to the tech, reminding that I did not agree, they tried to continue on. Of note, Apparently you have to request a base/top coat with your services, otherwise it's just straight polish on your nails. Which is fine if I'm doing my services myself, with light colored polish and I'm in the comfort of my home. Luckily, this was a gift certificate. To shell out any money towards this bare minimum salon is beyond me.. read more

Would NOT recommend going here. Got a full set of acrylics somewhere else for vacation (first time in a while so my nails were in good condition) and came here to have them removed. The girl used a drill instead of letting them soak properly and took way too much of my nail bed off. My nails are completely ruined and super thin. This will take 3-4 more months to grow out (I had to wait a while to take this picture to show the extent of the damage and show that this is not cuticle growth). This place also was extremely messy and there was stuff everywhere. Looked like a hoarder owned it. Can't be sanitary. Would never go here again! read more

Just moved to town and Sunset Nails is 3 blocks from my home thought I'd try it. Cleanliness made me a little uncomfortable. The staff were having loud conversations most of the time. This week marks one year that my son was murdered. The people at Sunset Nail's have gone above and beyond to make my daughter and I feel special. Even Coming in early one day before we flew his ashes to California to always asking how we are. Due to circumstances I have not been able to go to the salon for a few months until today. And boy am I glad I did. I asked Sandy to do Snoopy on my nails which was my son who died favorite character. She did A fantastic job. This weekend we will be in Huntington Beach California where my son was laid to rest in the ocean. And now I can go and proudly have Snoop Dogg on my hands which he would love. I go to sunset nails every two weeks for a rebase/set and gel nail. I few times the nails aren't cured(?) enough and I get bubbles and have to come back and get a few fixed. This last time the same thing happened and by the next day they were bubbles and peeling off. I came in to get them fixed and was told nobody could do it at all that day and to come back. But oddly enough my appointment was interrupted twice by two other clients tht had messed up nails and my manicurist stopped my appt to go fix them. They look like garbage and even said I could come back later since it's 11 am and they're open til 7 but was still told to come back the next day. Unfortunately I won't be returning. read more

I've been going here for years and finally felt the urge to write a review - only b/c I've moved out of state and the fear of my girl Li being booked when I need her is no longer relevant. To address some of the other yelpers: $26 for a mani/pedi (affordable) and they'll do a design for free Dirty - well, yes, it's in a dirty dive strip mall, not a surprise, but they recently got new chairs and have tidied up the place a lot As far as I'm aware - they have cleaned the tubs after each client and the tools have been properly sanitized. I've been going here for YEARS and I've never had an infection or a fungal problem, or anything like that (gross). Li is awesome. She's very personable, and remembers everything I've ever told her - damn girl! She also takes her time with me and never rushes me. She's also fast when I need to haul ass out of there (about an hour for mani/pedi and dry time). Every time I've been in there, the service has been great! Call ahead and book Li. Her work is consistent, she's reliable, speaks english (some of them are so/so), and really sweet. My mani's last about a week (I'm hard on my hands and obsessed with washing them ALL THE TIME) and my Pedis can be good for about a month. I have brought my own colors in - only b/c I want a specific color and sometimes they might not have it. They are busy on evenings - and close at 8, not open on Sundays, and CASH ONLY. So call ahead and book an appointment, if you just show up, expect to wait up to 30 minutes. read more

BEWARE: they ONLY take cash! So make sure you are prepared with cash or willing to go to the ATM at the liquor store next door. So today was my first time at Sunset. I decided to go here despite all of the negative reviews because they're the only place I know of (besides Signature) that has nail jewels. The second I walked in I felt like I was in a sweatshop or something it IS really gross looking in there! It's so cluttered it just seems like a fire code violation. There was nail dust flying EVERYWHERE. They don't even have little fans to wick it away. They don't have a sign in sheet or even a front desk. Anyway, I went it for a fullset of pink & whites w/ jewels. $40 for the fullset and 2/$5 on the jewels. None of the staff talked to the customers except to ask what they wanted. My lady spoke good English but didn't even bother asking me how I was doing. Anyways, my nails actually turned out looking amazing. She worked very fast but didn't make it look sloppy and in love them. She also took her time making sure my nails were perfect. I didn't really get the feeling that I was being "rushed along" like other reviews have stated. I really would want to rate this place a 3.5 due to the nastiness. But my nails turned out great!! So I'm torn on the rating. If you honestly don't give a hoot about the interior of the nail salon or how the staff treats you, but you want amazing nails come here! If you need the spa experience and friendly technicians I suggest you do not come here. Got a rebase and I had to go home and file every single one of my nails myself, they were so uneven and lopsided and had lumps. He didn't spread the paint out well and it looks thick and clumpy, he didn't ensure the corners of the nails had paint on them and he didn't even ask what color I wanted until it was time to put the color on. This is not your luxury nail salon. But if you want to get a quantity set or mani that will last you for ever. This is the place to go. I have been going to the same nail salon for 2 years and moved across town and wanted to find a place close to home. I came in and was in a chair with in 5 minutes. Ive been going to sunset for years and never had a problem until the last time, i went for a mani & shellac and pedicure. She pulled the tools out for the mani and the clippers were completly in rust!!! I didnt want my nails cliped anyway so she didnt use them on me. When she finished i put my tires under the dryer because i only did shallac on my fingers. I sat under the dryer for 15 min. My toes wete still not dry. .so i left with the flip flops they give you. 3 hours later i put my socks and shoes on! A few hours later when i took my socks off the nail polish was stuck to my sock ruining all my nail polish. . 2 days later my fingers nail polish was turing brown! I generally stop here for eyebrow waxes when I can't get in at work because I'm always so last minute. I never know how fast my brows are going to grow each time so it's hard to schedule in advance. You get what you pay for cause I've been here quite a few times this past year, each time I usually have to go home and pluck some remaining hairs they missed mainly between both brows. But my brows we're always even. The last 2 times I've been here with totally different staff I wasn't happy so I think I'll find another place to stop by when I need last minute waxes. Two times ago the lady basically took the whole end of my brow off. She kind of apologized and said she made it a little thinner on one side, but in reality she basically took the 1/4 of my brow off and the other 1/4 extremely thin compared to the other side. I didn't want her to match them so I said it was fine. I've never had this happen before. The last time I was in a few days ago another lady took a chunk out of the top of my eyebrow which is pretty visible. Not sure why all of a sudden they are rushing through their waxes not being careful of the wax placement. Due to this happening twice in a row I won't be back. read more

This place is busy all the time. And there is a reason for that they have cheap services with somewhat awesome results. They offer $20.00 pedicures which is what I get. They have an okay selection of colors but I usually bring my own. When it comes to getting you nail done they thing about this place is that you have to get the right person to do them. There are few girls that can do it but do it well..... ahh no. But if you get the right girl then your nails are golden.
