Hear ye, hear ye! Gather 'round, good people, and lend me thine ears! On the eve of Christmas, in…read morethe fair town of Durand, Michigan, my two eldest children and I sought refuge as we visited kin in the nearby hamlet of Swartz Creek. Lo and behold, the prices of lodgings were most outrageous, until I chanced upon the Quality Inn's own website. There, I made direct contact and was bestowed a most wondrous price. Though I harbored doubts, for the price seemed too good to be true, upon our arrival, we found the chambers to be most sufficient and clean, exceeding our expectations. Verily, the price was so favorable that I secured a room for myself with a grand king-sized bed, and another room with two queen-sized beds for my dear children. We reveled in our stay, enjoying a splendid night's rest, and on the morrow, we embarked upon our Christmas celebrations with family. All turned out most splendidly, and in the years to come, I do intend to repeat this cherished tradition. Huzzah to the Quality Inn of Durand for their exceptional service and hospitality!

There is no elevator, the pool is out of commission, and the smoke detectors were all flashing red, indicating that the batteries have not been changed in possibly years. The doors were filthy, scratched up, and marred with putty. Breakfast consists of sliced bread, English muffins, yogurt, waffles, and stale cereal. My family and I occupied several rooms. The hotel was the closest to the venue my family was attending. The Quality Inn franchise needs to inspect this property, as well as the local fire dept. I didn't even bring up the creepy guy who was always sitting at the computer in the lobby.

My husband and I recently stayed the night here after attending a wedding near by. The check in…read morearea is updated, bright, and clean. The rooms are also updated and clean. We stayed in the very first room, closest to the road. Everything was fine until the middle of the night when I heard someone talking and it sounded like they were actually in our room. It was the room next door. We could hear them talking, and could hear every word they were saying. Luckily we had a noise maker to turn on so we could drown out the noise. In the morning, it was also very loud and we could hear all the cars driving by on the main road. The bed was large and spacious, but when we woke up, we were pretty sore from sleeping on it all night. Its not a typical hotel, as it doesn't have a pool, breakfast, etc. but it was very clean, which is hard to find in a hotel sometimes so I will give them that.

This was cleaner than a lot of the hotels I've been in. The woman at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. We didn't check in until about 7pm and she let us know right away that if we needed anything, the office was closing at 9pm (which was helpful for the second night). Our room was across the parking lot from the reception area and on the first floor. The motel was booked, as we stayed during a holiday weekend and there was a large family staying there for a wedding. Everyone was friendly and respectful. It was quiet at night, so no problems with noise. The room was impeccably clean and well-stocked. The pillows were quite comfy, which is saying something as I've been unable to find a pillow that both supports and is comfortable since my spinal fusion. The bathroom was very spacious and we had room to have one of us in the shower, another using the facilities, and another using the sink. Our only complaint was that the motel placed a $100 hold on the card for incidentals on top of the room charges, which caused issues with our credit union. Other than that, highly recommended!

I typically book online, and I am able to check-in on the app. Interestingly, my digital key never seems to work here (never available on the app) so I always have to stop at the front-desk. The various persons working the front desk have been polite and helpful. After a quick ID verification, I have my physical keys and I am on my way. At a previous stay, there were some issues with things in the room such as the rubber seal around the refrigerator door being nearly completely torn off rendering the refrigerator practically useless. The front desk person offered to refrigerate things for me for the night as they were not able to send a replacement, and I didn't want to re-pack and move rooms. During my most recent stay, I think that I heard a dog barking in a room down the hall in the late evening, but I didn't bother to get up to confirm it. The hotel includes a laundry room - a washer and a dryer - on the 4th floor. Breakfast is included and generally offers a decent spread including hot and cold foods (see photos). There is an on-site bar/restaurant with a limited snack section, however, I've never ordered anything from there. For me the location, just-off of US-23 is perfect. There is usually plenty of parking in the lot and the building is accessible from the back with your room key. Conveniently nearby (walking distance) is the Meijer grocery, gas station, several different coffee shops (Biggby and Tim Horton's), Dollar Tree, etc. All of these offer great places to pick up snacks, drinks, etc. if you don't want to pay hotel prices. The rooms don't have a microwave but the one in the breakfast area is available to use 24-7. I find the rooms to be spacious and the beds to be comfortable. Overall, it serves my purposes and meets my requirements, so I'll likely continue staying here from time to time.

We arrived on Halloween, and found the staff friendly and in the spirit of the season. Our room was clean, and, for a weekend, relatively quiet both Friday and Saturday nights. The few times we did hear someone arrive, we noticed that even when folks speak with normal volume, there isn't much sound insulation. So your satisfaction with noise levels will be influenced by your luck with the courtesy of your near neighbors. We booked a rate with breakfast for World of Hyatt members, and found the breakfast good for a hotel at this price point: bacon, eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, etc., plenty of options. From my unique perspective, one of the best parts about staying here is making a trip across the parking lot to the Meijer Supercenter, to load up on value-priced Michigan Wolverines gear. Thanks, HP, for a good stay.
