Hear ye, hear ye! Gather 'round, good people, and lend me thine ears! On the eve of Christmas, in the fair town of Durand, Michigan, my two eldest children and I sought refuge as we visited kin in the nearby hamlet of Swartz Creek. Lo and behold, the prices of lodgings were most outrageous, until I chanced upon the Quality Inn's own website. There, I made direct contact and was bestowed a most wondrous price. Though I harbored doubts, for the price seemed too good to be true, upon our arrival, we found the chambers to be most sufficient and clean, exceeding our expectations. Verily, the price was so favorable that I secured a room for myself with a grand king-sized bed, and another room with two queen-sized beds for my dear children. We reveled in our stay, enjoying a splendid night's rest, and on the morrow, we embarked upon our Christmas celebrations with family. Drive past this nightmare! Dirty, filthy bathrooms, the toilets overflowed. The water in the shower backed up in the tub. The air conditioner was hit or miss. There is no elevator, the pool is out of commission, and the smoke detectors were all flashing red, indicating that the batteries have not been changed in possibly years. The doors were filthy, scratched up, and marred with putty. Breakfast consists of sliced bread, English muffins, yogurt, waffles, and stale cereal. My family and I occupied several rooms. The hotel was the closest to the venue my family was attending. The Quality Inn franchise needs to inspect this property, as well as the local fire dept. I didn't even bring up the creepy guy who was always sitting at the computer in the lobby. read more

The hotel is clean, but needs some cosmetic work. It looks like management is working on it. In the room, it was clean, the bed was comfy, the heating worked, the water was hot, and the damn key card worked the FIRST time. The continental breakfast room was spotless and offered waffles, Eggs, sausages, pastries, etc. We have not stayed at a hotel this inexpensive in a LONG time. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality. If you're looking for a motel off from 69, don't let the price deter you. When the updates are completed, it'll be a 5 star review. read more

Spent some time at this property. While here i was helped by multiple people that provided great interactions and good experiences. I enjoyed the breakfast and 24 hour coffee. The wifi was fast and made it easy for zoom calls. read more

First night, domestic situation occurred from ~3:30 a.m. until the police arrived at 5:30 a.m. Woke up to screaming, banging and yelling. However, the front desk person had their headphones in and did not hear the disturbance. The evening of the second night, I got back to my room to find that housekeeping had entered my room without permission. My things were moved around the room. On day three I realized I was missing a few articles of my personal property. Upon contacting the front desk, Justice, was very unconcerned and actually hung up the line without even getting my contact information. I requested someone from the property call me back the following business day to discuss the matter. When I did not hear back by the end of that day, I called the property again. Again, I got the same employee who made it clear that she did not wish to be bothered and when I told her that I got the impression both the night before and this time that she did not care. Her reply was literally that she still did not care and hung up. I am still awaiting a resolution. read more

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. We checked in at 8p on a Friday and there were children running the front desk (one looked to be about 15 and the other was maybe 12); no adult in sight. They gave us only one room key (there were 2 of us staying). There was no elevator, but luckily it was only a two floor hotel. When we opened the door to our room, we were nearly knocked back by the marijuana wafting through the air from one of the adjacent rooms. We saw immediately that they gave us a double room instead of the king we booked. I picked up the phone to call the front desk about this and the cord fell out of the phone. It was when I went chasing after the cord that I noticed the handset was sticky and there was a gooey brown substance on the base of the phone. I put the cord back in and dialed the front desk. We were told they were completely booked and couldn't offer us the king we booked. Why bother booking online if we can't have what we booked and paid for? Went to put our beverages in the fridge only to find the fridge didn't work. Went to get ice and found there was no ice bucket. Had to use the coffee cups in the room for ice. When we showered the next morning, we found they had only given us one washcloth for two people for a two night stay. Refusing to use the sticky phone, my husband went to ask the front desk for more washcloths and clean towels and he was told he had to bring down the dirty ones first. He asked why housekeeping couldn't come switch them out and he was told, "Due to COVID, housekeeping only cleans every 3 days." I doubt the room was cleaned prior to our stay. There was a large white stain on the floor. The shower curtain was moldy. We had to use the heat the first night and it smelled like an electrical fire when we kicked it on. During the second day, I decided to try unplugging the microwave to see if the fridge would work and, lo and behold, it did. You see, the fridge, microwave, and TV were all plugged into an outlet extender and the three couldn't function all at once. Bad customer service. Bad housekeeping. Bad covid policies. Filthy room. Poorest Quality Inn I've been in. Company booked 4 nights here while working locally for a week. Carpets with stains in room and halls. Wall lights were about to fall off. Wall mount tissue box fell off the wall, they obviously know about it, the tissue box that goes inside was sitting on top of it. Carpet was always wet near a/c unit. Came back after work for a 3rd night, had fresh towels but bed was unmade. No elevator. Entry at the end of building wouldn't let me in with my key card. The phone kept ringing once about every 5 minute from the moment I arrived...no voice mail either. Maintenance said they would check the phone, so I left to get dinner. It was still ringing when I came back an hour later. Had to unplug the phone. Came back after work for a second night....and iPhone cord that was near the bed was damaged and wouldn't provide a charge any longer. Luckily I had a spare in my truck. It looked as if it was chewed up by the vacuum. The TV would no fill the entire screen. Approx 75%. I checked the setting, any changes made it worse. The unit has a microwave and mini frig.....both working. And coffee at breakfast was good. So wasn't 100% bad. read more

My wife and I drove in from out of state, and were extremely tired. Our room was on the 1st floor, and was clean, but the toilet seat would not stay on the toilet, and my wife fell off of it and bruised her leg. I went outside to smoke, only to find trash and beer cans laying all over the place. The ash tray was full, and cigarette butts were lying on the ground all over the area. A group of young adults were partying in 2 vehicles in the parking lot, drinking alcohol, yelling, and having sex. They left beer cans in the grass where they were parked. Overall, we should have asked for our money back, as my wife hurt herself, the grounds were disgusting, and the atmosphere sucked. It has gone downhill since we last visited there. read more

02/22/18-02/25/18 Hotel is great for the price. Rooms were clean, pool and hot tub were nice. Breakfast was good.

Positive: Didn't see bed bugs, clean sheets, fluffy towels. Negatives: The carpeting throughout the motel and room was filthy, full of stains. The breakfast room only has four tables. What appeared to be a family reunion had some of the younger people sitting on the floor with their plates. There is no elevator. The one staircase is located at the end of the building, so if you can't carry and walk a good distance, be sure you request a ground floor room. I had a choice of staying in Durand or Flint. Next time I will go to Flint. read more

Wow I can't believe we stayed here. We were a part of a large wedding group. We got into the hotel room and it wasn't even cleaned. Both beds were a mess. Towels on the bathroom floor and there was nothing they would do about it. Don't stay here. Get away and don't come back. read more

"Those of you know I worked for the quality inn of durand Michigan. I quit today. I quit for so many reasons. To begin Vikram shah, is the owner and this is a warning to everyone who has stayed there in the last two months. There are bed bugs. Bed bugs in over ten rooms. He has refused treatment. He continues to use over the counter products to try to "cure" the infestation. His words are "you girls are making a big deal out of nothing. We live with it in India we can live with it here". Two weeks ago I was injured on the job with those products. He makes us use them with out masks or any protective equipment I had chemical burns in my eyes as a result. In September of 2015 he used a commercial fogger and the entire hotel was full of these toxic fumes. There were eight rooms occupied that day and three employees there including myself. Four housekeepers and the maintenance man have quit so far due to him being negligent. This is enough. The health department won't shut him down. No one will do anything. So here it is. I am sharing because I believe this sort of information is very important to consider prior to booking a hotel. Please stay far, far away from this place! Wow, where do I begin! I called on October 5 to book a room and the lady I spoke to was very rude. I made she this girl gave me a confirmation code. So I called this past Friday to tell them we will be late to check in and the lady said she didn't have a reservation for me. I was beyond livid at this point. She told me they are completely booked and there's no rooms opened and I said this doesn't make sense I have a confirmation code. In the meantime I got disconnected and called back twice and I went straight to voicemail and then finally they called me back saying the weather is bad up here, sorry about that. She got us a room but we would have to change rooms on Saturday. I said that's fine. So we get there on Friday and there's only one bath towel for 3 adults so I go downstairs to get 2 more towels and the lady at the front desk was like how many do you need because we don't have a lot and I said 2. I'm confused they are a hotel that should have enough towels for each room and some to spare, they should have higher par level if they are low on towels. read more

We've been here for 24 hours and it has been good. No sign of bed bugs and the mattress is sealed in a pouch intended to keep bed bugs away. It's quiet and clean and comfortable. Took advantage of the pool and hot tub, and it's within walking distance to just about everything. Much more enjoyable than some expensive hotels I've stayed at. read more

Well......9/24/15 and 9/25/15 have been interesting days for the quality inn of Durand. Claims of bed bugs by ex employees but yet a clean bill of health from the county health department and a bed bug sniffing dog from Orkin. All documented in the local news paper "The Argus Press Im a local (unlike two of the reviewers that appear to be from Chicago) and have never heard one bad thing about the place; In fact, in the winter its pool is the reason locals go there. Mr Shah (the owner) good luck, I look forward to spending a cold Michigan winter night at your hotel. read more

We stayed at the Durand Quality Inn for two nights in Aug of 2015. The room was dirty.. Black sticky spots on the (dirty) carpeting. The stair well was filthy. The TV had a small picture in the middle of the screen. They advertised HBO, there was none. No TV guide. Ice machine broken. No alarm clock, just a clock that we (and the attendant) couldn't set.. It blinked all night. We complained the first night to the front desk. She said she would tell housekeeping. When we checked out after the second night nothing had been done. After returning home I wrote Quality Inn about my concerns, they wrote back they would try to do better on our next stay.. No thanks, I think I'd rather sleep in my car. read more
