I'm 32 and have since been asked about my great complexion. Additionally, I've subsequently found out the "laser" there is not a laser. I'm not an expert, but from pictures on their website, it's a Palomar StarLux 500, which uses Intense Pulse Light or IPL, and is somewhat outdated (and relatively inexpensive) technology. With what was being charged for a year of sessions, I could pay for the machine myself. Overall, I felt pretty self conscious after my initial consultation and wondered if my presupposed budget was wildly off base. After talking to friends and other businesses, this is by far the most expensive package I could find, and it doesn't have the technology, results, or added value to merit the price.

I consider the unlimited package an advantage for hair growth driven by hormonal causes as hormones may fluctuate and you may need ongoing touchup sessions. A word of caution that the pain can be intense, especially as sessions go on. I wish they offered a free trial session so people could see if they can handle it before committing. The office here in Beaverton is clean and the staff has been friendly and welcoming. Scheduling is simple but they are quite booked up. As a customer you're able to visit any office in the United States, but this one has been the most convenient for me.

I asked how many sessions it could take for complete remover, he said up to 18 sessions. Again, he barely went over and and missed a lot of it with the laser. I paid $80 for this session, which made no impact in the color or density of the tattoo at all. If it takes 18 sessions at $80 each session this would end up costing $1,440 to remove. It's a simple Chinese character. About 2" by 2". After I mentioned he missed areas he stopped talking to me. I have had tattoos removed in the past. Very unprofessional. I asked for a refund and he said no. I will be filing a complaint with licensing board. Not acceptable at all.

After I did some research on various lasers on the market, I chose Pain Free Laser. They claim they have the best tech and they actually do (!!!) The Soprano XL is a phenomenal laser and is a fairly new addition in the market. The technology is top-notch and it really was pain-free (and surprisingly fast). I couldn't find another place in the Portland metro area that had comparable laser equipment. Marietta runs this place on her own and she does a darn good job at it :) She is extremely knowledgeable, communicative and highly-skilled at what she does. I explained to Houda that I have dry, sensitive skin and am on tretinoin, which further sensitizes skin. Certain ingredients don't mix well with tretinoin and if you're doing a peel, micro needling, etc you have to stop tret use for several days leading up to treatment. During my facial, she applied a salicylic acid mask that immediately burned my skin, to the point that my eyes were watering and it was unbearable to leave on longer than about a minute or two. By the time I got home, my skin was bright red, like a bad sunburn. By 10/11, my skin was peeling off in chunks. I emailed Houda and she replied some dryness and tightness is normal. I am now 4 days out and my entire face is still peeling in large pieces. If I was there for peel, that'd be ok, but I just went for a facial and had no intention of getting a peel and it was never discussed. Houda's response to my concerns has felt a bit dismissive and told me this is a normal reaction. If that's the case, I wish the communication had been better- I had no idea she was going to use a product that'd cause my face to peel intensely for days on end. After looking into the product used, it is not intended to cause peeling. It seems like this product shouldn't have been used on sensitive skin or on a client using tretinoin. The manufacturer of the product advised me to see a doctor regarding this reaction. Based on other reviews I know Houda can do great work, unfortunately I don't think this is a good option for people with sensitive skin looking for a facial.

Houda, the proprietor, zapped them in a matter of a few minutes and they are now completely gone. Houda also does tattoo removal - for people who lacked the good judgement not to get dolphins and Garfield that Cat tatted to their ankles back in the 80's. The salon is gorgeous and she works Tuesday - Saturday: 10 am - 6:30 pm and her prices are lower than other salons that I'd checked out. If you want to get rid of some cherry moles or ridiculous tattoos (that your mother warned you not to get), give her a call.
