Would give zero if I could. 1. Waited more than half an hour for a server to even come to us. Why? One of the people in our party had to manually go up to the counter and tell them we want to order. Not even anyone came by beforehand to ask what we would like to drink or if we are ready to order. 2. After ordering food we had to wait an additional half hour for it to come out. Meanwhile a table behind us with even more people had servers come ask what they want to drink immediately, ordered, and got their food BEFORE US. When they came almost an HOUR AFTER US. 3. Food was dry, potatoes tasted like they went bad, water cups tasted like grease. Like it was not cleaned well enough or something. 4. A disgusting amount of insects including flies, wasps, and spiders everywhere. Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. Do not come here. read more

Really surprised to see the not-so-good reviews here. We had a great experience. Food was good and Joyce, our waitress was supre friendly, efficient and helpful. Moreover, we were quite impressed about thier COVID-19 protocols. We have not eaten out for a while. We went out for a good Fall Foliage hike in the area, and came here yearning for some good old Canadian style breakfast - our cravings were answered. The cleaning and sanitizing protocols are very impressive. Joyce not only was friendly and efficient with her service, we also noticed she kept cleaning everything - tables, utensils, katchup bottles, etc. with santiziers. Bathrooms are super clean as well. This really made us feel at ease. Food was good - especially like their French Connections - 3 eggs with good thick old fashion bacons, and 2 pieces of french toasts. Alright, so this wasn't a good meal. We ordered the White Tuna on Rye with home fries & veggies for dipping. The Tuna on Rye was good but the home fries had a weird taste to them like the cooking oil they were cooked in was rancid? What I found disappointing was the ranch dipping sauce for the side veggies was served while still in the Kraft container.! They didn't even make an attempt to make the dipping sauce look homemade!! We told the server "Alex" that the home fries tasted weird & was told that they just changed the oil supplier & the fried the potatoes, not deep fried. Alex did nothing for both of us even though the home fries were uneaten. For me...this is NOT a do-over. read more

As someone who doesn't live in the Wasaga Beach area (just cottage there)- My boyfriend and I were happy to find a sunset grill as we like to go to the ones close to home on Sundays for our typical eggs sunset (poached) breakfast. The waitresses were very friendly, however, the manager does not know how to appropriately treat customers. We ordered our eggs medium ... they came to us hard-boiled and the hash browns were not cooked enough they were hard. I politely told my waitress who said she would fix it, however when the eggs came back (and were cooked properly) the manager came over to tell me that they don't poach eggs as it "is very hard to get eggs perfect when the restaurant is so busy" ... (the restaurant wasn't even busy).. I then replied is this at all sunsets? because my boyfriend and I go almost every weekend and get the same order each time and she replied that "we were lucky that the places we went to poached our eggs for us".. why would the waitress ask us how we want our eggs if they don't "poach" them. The correct thing for a manager to do is apologize for the eggs being overcooked and not try and make customers feel like they're doing us a favour by cooking poached eggs....anyways the Wasaga sunset grill is not giving a. good name for the rest of the locations which cook AMAZING meals and treat there customers GREAT. read more

This place is always a joke when we come here. We keep thinking maybe today will be different. However no, we never learn our lesson. It says during Covid they do temp checks, but nothing was done except taking my info. Food is mediocre, staff is so rude like they seem to run Wasaga beach. Short haired blonde owner walks around and pretends to do things. She'll grab a rag to make it look like she's going to clean a table, but then starts talking to customers and staff and then puts the rag down not accomplishing anything. Why don't you actually help your staff lady, then maybe you'll actually have a successful business. Having this lady run one of your franchise location has probably hurt the reputation of sunset grill all over since people from the gta come down here a lot. Got refunded because there was A LOT of oil in the eggs, the potatoes were undercooked, there was some unidentified stuff on some of the potatoes that even the chefs did not know what it was (looked like a bugs but i'd assume it was burnt pieces of shredded cheese.........i think), and even though it was empty the service was very very slow. We were watching the cook, a taller fellow with greasy long hair, yapping instead of cooking what looked like pre-packaged eggs... The bacon was stiff and dried pout, like it was microwaved. Breakfast is just average. We sat outdoors because the place was packed. I get that they are busy on Saturdays in June, but hire some more staff or something, it took an hour to get my food and my kids were on the verge of erupting. Food was ok at best. No wow factor. Place was clean and bright, but food really lacked pizazz. Service was substandard. I ordered the "Canadian Like bacon' with 3 eggs ( btw they won't poach them or soft boil) with home fries. I ended up leaving most of the bacon and fries. Again I just found it bland. Waitress never made it back to ask if I needed anything, I wanted a coffee refill. I also had to go to the cashier and tell them I need to go and can't wait any longer for the bill. For toast that is actually toasted I would recommend the customer bring there own toaster! Just never ends the sick attitude towards customers when they get those 3 or 4 busy weekends a year. The service is terrible and so is the overpriced food. Your almost told to hurry up and get out as there is a line up outside. read more

I can not believe the level of disrespect I have just faced at this establishment. My three girlfriends and I went in on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Upon getting there, about 8 people were waiting to be seating. They got sat and so we continued to wait. No problems what so ever, then after two minutes I believe it was the owner who barked at the young girl working "get them outside". So then we were asked to wait outside while we waited. First of all it was maybe 5 degrees outside and people were already waiting inside and we got told to wait outside! Never have I ever been told that I had no choice but to wait outside. So I really like Sunset Grill in Toronto. This morning, when my friend asked if we wanted breakfast from Sunset Grill, I was very excited and said I wanted to smoked salmon eggs benedict. My friend went and ordered a take out. When he came back, not only they screwed up the order for him, they screwed up my order. I don't know which planet these cooks live in that they fried the eggs for eggs benedict instead of poaching them. No capers. Skimmed on the home fries. Overall very disappointing. What makes a good eggs benedict is the poached eggs. Very very disappointed. if you don't know how to poach an egg, just give me a whole eggs and I'll poach it myself. This never happens in Toronto. We have visited this location before and the service has been mediocre at best. However, today was the worst service we have received. We did have to wait for our table, which was fine considering it was a Sunday morning. The waiting area in the restaurant is very small so when waiters move around it gets very tight. I had to sneeze so I covered my mouth but one of the waitresses walking by with food (a more mature red head woman) looked at me in disgust and then ran off to tell the manager ( a mature blonde woman). As someone who also works in the service industry I don't feel as if it is appropiate to speak poorly of your customers. They made it very obvious that they were talking about myself and the others I was with. We were finally taken to a table by the manager, with no menus, no cutlery, no napkins. I can understand that wasaga beach is a tourist area, and they probably experience lots of young rowdy people however I am a local and will be sure to share my experience with everyone. read more
