This cute little grill was situated in Landsdowne and this place is normally super lively in the evening but super quiet during the day which is always great for a quick breakfast . We opted to sit on the terrasse area which was set up by the window and has barcode scan menus which is great ! The staff was amazingly chirpy and I loved that . The food was amazing and simple too which is always great if you're not trying to have a huge meal . The reason for which I put it 3 stars is because of the following : it took almost 40 minutes to get the food out which would have made sense if it was busy but we were the newest table and there were only 2 others. Also the window that we sat by was a bit dusty ( to be expected since it's outdoors) but normally you would clean it every so often during or before a service . We came in at about 2:30 pm a Sunday for all day breakfast. Hubby ordered corned beef hash and eggs. I tried to order the smoked salmon plate however they were out of salmon. Ok. Sunset Grill is one of the many chain restaurants that dominate the new shopping centre at Ottawa's Lansdowne Park. When I decided to try this for breakfast, the place was about 40% full when i came in around 0930. I ordered one of their most basic breakfasts: 3 eggs, bacon, toast & tea. It came. And it was OK. The bare minimum: 1 container of jam, large chunk hash brown potatoes that were not really cooked through and had nothing else like onion or peppers to perk them up. The staff were friendly enough, with the manager chatting with some older folks that appear to already have become regulars. When the bill came, my total with tax was $12.14. Not outrageous, but I'm pretty sure I could get a more inspiring breakfast for as much, or less, from locally-owned restaurants, such as: Wilf & Ada's, The Scone Witch, Pressed Café or Stoneface Dolly's. An interesting aside is that as I came up on the restaurant I saw a row of 5 Ottawa Police Service cruisers on the street outside. And indeed, there were 5 OPS officers inside having breakfast. So, a word of advice to any prospective bank robbers planning to have breakfast while they wait for the bank next door to open for the day: DON'T! read more

Woooohhooo! Great breakfast spot! Nice dinner style menu, big portions, and fantastic service. After a streak of not so great meals out - this was a breeze! I went for savoury - served on peameal style bacon and English muffins topped with Hollandaise sauce. Served with home fries. Awesomeness. My friends shared a french toast served with fresh strawberries, strawberry preserves and whipped cream, as well as blueberry pancakes. I had breakfast there this morning for the first time since COVID started and I have to say that this has always been my favourite breakfast spot in Ottawa but I was even more impressed today! The owner Dean and his staff have taken every precaution to keep their diners safe and make their dining experience a pleasant one! From the time I walked in the door till I left I was given 5 star treatment! My coffee cup and water glass were kept filled without even having to ask, my "Eggs Sunset" breakfast was served hot and was so delicious and filling, and the owner and my server and the other servers were always stopping to see if I needed anything or to see how my meal was! I have always enjoyed my breakfasts at this location and have always found it to be spotlessly clean and the staff super friendly and helpful but as I watched them today and how much extra work they are putting into providing a safe and enjoyable dining experience for their customers I am even more impressed! If you're looking for a great place to enjoy a wonderful breakfast I would recommend the Sunset Grill at Landsdowne! You will be treated extremely well and you will not be disappointed in any of the meals they serve! I'm looking forward to my next visit there already! read more

The best breakfast I've ever had in a restaurant! Everything was cooked perfectly, bacon was fantastic. Coffee was better than I would have expected also. Portions are quite generous, which had me worried at first, as many places bulk up the servings to make up for bland food. Not the case here. I look forward to many, many more visits! read more

What does it cost to make a cup of coffee? not much. They want you to pay 2 or more for coffee. So you get toast, homefries and 3 super small eggs felt like 2 large eggs. Not really a great value. But then again maybe it is becuase there rent must be super high at landsdowne I don't know. Although the patio was nice and the interior had a wooden motif. casual dining. Nothing wrong in that department. Main complaint is they skimp on sausage and coffee on breakfast special..Better values at other restaurants. The restaurant is located on a side street (100 Marche Way) off of Bank Street. The side street has an old Montreal feel with the street and sidewalk covered in paver blocks. Sunset Grill has an extended roof covering the sidewalk, providing nice shade in the hot summer months which was great because the restaurant was very busy and we had to wait outside. (We did however visit on the weekend and it was Father's Day.) Sunset Grill features seating inside and outside, seating inside felt a little cramped. My Dad loved the Eggs Sunset. I enjoyed the Sunset Super, very generous with the bacon, the home fries were not all that impressive. I hope to try the waffles next time, saw another family with a plate of waffles, they looked great! read more
