I have come to this place on two separate occasions, the second time leaving a better impression than the first. My go-to for breakfast is a yogurt fruit harvest, in addition to coffee with maple syrup. The eggs and meat are all well and good, but I found the fruit seems a bit off, as though it's not completely fresh. On my first visit here, we had to wait 15 min before our orders came through. Our server was rude and looked reluctant to clean up our table. I did not have a good experience. On my second visit, our server was much more hospitable and accommodating. The wait time was shorter, so we got our food quickly. Overall, coming here is hit-or-miss; you'll never really know what you'll get. Still, Cora's is an adequate restaurant to get some breakfast or brunch. read more

The worst thing is that I did not know the pepper and mushroom are charged extra ($3,4 dollars before tax for these two). I was not being asked for this when I order - only notice this on my bill. My companion and I tried Cora's for breakfast today. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Luc brought us coffee quickly and took our orders. She ordered the fruit crepe and I ordered the Kale Mango Smoothie Bowl. Our food arrived promptly with larger portions than we expected. Both dishes tasted fresh and delicious. Ordered something through Skip the Dishes and it was just a mess. For some reason, whoever assembled the order didn't think to pack the custard separate from the rest? So not only is the waffle super cakey (probably could've stayed in the waffle iron longer), it also turned to mush with having the custard sitting on top instead of in its own container. The strawberries looked like they were going bad and they weren't cut properly (bits of leaves everywhere). I don't want to be too harsh or anything but this seems like the bare minimum? This is my second experience with Cora's (previously went to the place at St Laurent and the only thing I remember about it is that coffee is somehow not included... for breakfast... seriously?). I just think this recent order just put the final nail in the coffin for Cora's and I'll just be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I'm always baffled by how inconsistent Cora's throughout Canada is. I mean it's breakfast, the easiest meal of the day to cook. I've tried it in MTL and it's always been really good, I've tried it in TO and it's ok, the one Niagara Falls is terrible. This Ottawa Cora's is ok. Like most other Cora's you get a side of breakfast with the fruit that comes! The prices are reasonable and the portions large. The staff here is pretty nice as well. The #1 thing I appreciate about Cora's is that most, if not all, of their dishes come with fresh fruit. The #1 thing I don't appreciate is the waiting time. The line, especially on the weekends, usually loops around the entire waiting area inside the restaurant and goes all the way out the door. When you're finally seated though, it's a pretty fantastic breakfast. My favourite here is the Eggs Ben et Dictine, which has the standard English muffin, poached eggs (2), and Hollandaise sauce, but also has asparagus and cheese. I'm not sure about their specific cheese choice, though, as some friends of mine have received brie with their order, and others have had Swiss. I honestly can't remember which one I had at this location, but it was tasty nonetheless. It comes with roasted potatoes and a variety of fresh fruit, and I opted for some bacon on the side because.. well, I love bacon. I can't complain about anything! The eggs were poached well, the potatoes weren't greasy, the bacon was crispy, and the fruit was actually fresh. The service was fairly fast once we were seated, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. They offer a pretty good selection of breakfast/brunch items, including eggs, bagels, crepes, waffles, french toast, fresh fruit, cottage cheese, and yogurt. Their lunch items include paninis, wraps, soups, and salads. I find Cora's to be much more expensive than your usual breakfast places, but the quality also seems to be higher. read more

This is the worst Cora's I've ever been to in my life. My boyfriend and I made the mistake of coming here instead of Dunn's or Zak's for breakfast. We were seated pretty quick but our server took an extremely long time to come take our order. I ordered a chocolate milk and my boyfriend just got water and those took a really long time too. I decided on a breakfast plate, I can't remember what it was called, it had your typical eggs, bacon, hash browns, a crepe etc. My boyfriend ordered some ham wrap thing. I remember Cora's to be delicious, huge portions from when I visited in Halifax. This was completely the opposite. My plate was pathetic, you could see the bottom of the plate way more than you should be able to for something so expensive. I literally got 5 hash browns. Five. 2 of which were so burnt I couldn't eat them. The bacon was fine, but it was also a pathetically small portion, same with the eggs. The crepe was a joke, it was just a plain crepe and they didn't give me syrup or anything for it. The server didn't come around once to see if we needed anything so I didn't even get to ask for it, he was also nowhere to be found. The amount of fruit I got was also pathetic and get this... NOT fresh, at Cora's? Give me a break! The fruit is a great touch to the meal and it is ALWAYS fresh, grapes were mushy, cantaloupe wasn't ripe, it was all dry too like it was sitting somewhere for a long time. My boyfriend's wrap was puny too, he didn't finish it and he is hands down the least picky eater I've ever met in my life. The prices were also extremely steep, I think it was $30 for ours. I have never been a fan of Cora however I was staying at a hotel close by and was DYING for eggs benedict so my boyfriend and I decided to try them. Meh.... The staff was delightful. In a good mood and very pleasant however everything after that is mediocre. We were seated right beside the entrance door so every time someone would walk in, we were blasted with the winter cold air. Our table was also right beside the cash meaning if there was a line-up to pay, we had a line up of people's bums in our face as we attempted to enjoy our cold breakfast sausages and undercooked eggs. If ever you're in the area, go to a Tim's instead. You'd be happier with a bagel and coffee for $7 rather than dropping $30 for 2 and being utterly disappointed. read more

When you need a light meal, sort of a brunch, with lots of fruit, you can't go wrong with Cora. They have omelettes, waffles and paninis. I was very disappointed when I ordered from Cora's through Skip the Dishes. The food came in jumbled up and very messy with the fruits mixed in with the potatoes and eggs. Presentation was not pleasant to look at when we opened the food. We heard good things about Cora's breakfast items and was disappointed with the taste. The potatoes and eggs were very bland. The turkey sausages didn't taste fully cooked. The fruits were cut up very strange, I've never seen watermelon cut like that before and the kiwi was half cut with the peel still attached. I couldn't even enjoy the fruit salad because it tasted like the hollandaise sauce and potatoes. Food to go should still have the same effort put in as people who dine in their restaurants. Admittedly, when I think of breakfast at Cora's, I start to salivate a little bit more. Sure, sure, it's a bit pricey, some of the food isn't that healthy and the line-ups can be crazy. But there's a reason for the line-ups: the food is so friggin' good! I'm a huge fan of their strawberry, banana, kiwi, whipped cream, custard and strawberry coulis waffles...with a side of hash browns, of course. Theo's omelette and the raspberry crepe are also delicious. I can accept a bit of an extra waddle to my step upon leaving the establishment if it means eating these meals. They also have a small lunch menu, which is only available during weekdays. The staff can be friendly, but I've had some bad service. However, these people are run ragged, so I can understand. If you want a quiet breakfast, this isn't the place to go. But if you want to go to one of the few restaurants that doesn't skimp on fruit, especially the good kind (boo to melon filler!), Cora's is the place to go. If you want to avoid the fatty breakfasts, there are plenty of tasty alternatives. read more

I loved many things about this place , my biggest problem is consistency. They said that the homefries are gluten free, but the ones at other Cora's are not. So either they have different potatoes or they weren't well informed.. That made me feel a little uneasy. Overall, the food was pretty good. I came in here alone after being early for work. I got the feeling that my being alone wasn't desirable, I made sure to take up as little space as possible. Besides this, the service was decent. The food was decent as well. Menus were gross (covered in greasy film - you can tell a lot regarding a restaurant by how clean the menus are), the table was sticky from not being wiped off properly, my spoon and coffee were dirty. I know they get super busy because they are close to Rideau Centre and Byward Market, but they close after lunch. Tons of time to clean the place up. Went once and will never go again. Fuckin narst. I asked for cheddar cheese on my omelette, and they forgot to put it on so they sprinkled grated, unmelted, mozza cheese on it. We've been to a few Cora's in different cities but it was our first time at this location. The food wasn't the best. Me and my friend both had omelettes. Halfway through our meal we started having major heartburn and having bad acid reflux. We had to drive to Montreal right after and the whole ride there we were excited to arrive so that we could throw up.
