We ordered on line for Father's Day. We have a vegetarian family member. The breakfast poutine had an option to ask for it without meat so we checked that box. When we opened at home there was meat diced through all of it. Tried scraping it out but that pulled out all the sauce leaving a few undercooked hash browns. $17.99 plus tax and tip to throw it in the garbage. If you are going to ignore variations on a dish don't put the option to change it on your order sheet. read more

So. I was hesitant to try this restaurant, because I'd had a less than average experience at the location close to me. But I saw the 4.5 stars average on Yelp, so I said, why not?! Good news. I may have found my new breakfast, lunch, brunch spot. This location is, at least so far, as good as Sunny Morning (10 minutes away in Etobicoke). Its the first breakfast joint I've found that's as good or better than Sunny's. Wow! To start, a complimentary Toronto Star, yes! Very few restaurants do this any more, and it's a cryin' shame! I HAD to try the Crab Cakes Benedict..... Only available FOR A LIMITED TIME. OMG. OMG....OMG!!!!! This is the BEST BENEDICT I HAVE EVER EATEN, and I've been eating Eggs Benedict since 1988! Dear Head Office : Please bring the Crab Cakes Benedict to your PERMANENT MENUE, ASAP!! Do NOT rob your wonderful customers and staff of this one-of-a-kind, BRILLIANT, DEEPLY DELICIOUS Eggs Benedict!! I'm begging you! The food at THIS location is outstanding. (the location closer to me, nope) I tasted every part of the Benedict alone, so I'd know what I was tasting when I ate it together! (That is a free foodie tip for any dish btw. Yes. You're welcome.) The hollandaise is outstanding, and enough for all 3 eggs and the 2 crab cakes (very important). It's extremely well seasoned, which is tricky (too much, or too little really sucks!), and very hard to find (see my soon to be posted review of Huevos Gourmet to see what I mean). The crab cake was SIMPLY SPECTACULAR!! SERIOUSLY. It had a significant amount of big crab pieces.... It was excellently seasoned! And quite a large size. I loved the 4 (too small) pieces of asparagus on top.... I buy them infrequently, so it was a lovely surprise! The eggs were poached perfectly. Soft, but yet the white was cooked, not partly raw like some restaurants. (finally I found it)! The food came out very quickly, piping hot and looking lovely! I have to say, I'm surprised that you don't have the "People love us on Yelp" sticker on your front and rear doors, plus the cardboard sign you can put at the registers... It encourages customers to READ the reviews, and to write their very own! Every location should have both prominently displayed! Now for my issues: For some reason, the potatoes were lukewarm or cold within a few minutes of my plate hitting the table. The waitress got me more, (thank God), which I AM CERTAIN were fresh made, and they were hot initially, but cold within a very, very short period of time. I'm not sure why, but store management needs to look into this ASAP. It's important. SWEET AND Low for coffee/tea. REALLY? IS IT 1980?? SERIOUSLY? At this "just as expensive as any good breakfast restaurant" prices? It left a dreadful chemically, terrible taste. I had to get a brand new cup and fresh coffee, I couldn't drink it. And there's simply NO excuse for using it. NONE AT ALL. At the very least, use Equal. Preferably, use Splenda. Your customers' health and wellbeing SHOULD MATTER TO YOU (I'm talking to YOU, Sunset head office, y'all hear me now????) DO YOU READ ME HEAD OFFICE, who alone decide what products are used at every location??? Service was good, but I had to flag her down several times, no stopping to see how the food was, etc. Not her fault, however. This restaurant is very busy early in the morning. The franchise owners must add a 2nd wait staff. Please? And, no Wifi... Are we in 1999?? (Prince reference anyone?? ). Small owner-operated, 1 location only restaurants often have free WiFi... Sunset Head Office...... Sérieusement! OK, the rant is (mostly) over. So come on down to this awesome location. You won't be disappointed. And. An important bonus at this particular location? Really small location actually. Almostttt missed it. Food was good, standard Sunset Grill fare. 3 stars for a couple of reasons: first, no wifi. (Maybe it's just me, but I feel like public wifi is helpful) and second, because the coffee wasn't as strong as it usually is at other locations. There was a fair bit of wait for the bill and eventually I just went up and paid. I'm aware you usually go up to pay, but I'm used to the bill being brought to the table and a coffee refill offered (I would've said yes.) read more

Great Sunset Grill location that is relatively new but still offers the usual favourites! Food: really fresh and delicious! I find that some locations can be a hit or miss but this spot exceeded our expectations. We ordered the Eggs Sunset, French Connection and a waffle with fruit to share. Eggs Sunset is HANDS DOWN my new favourite...essentially an eggs benny on peameal bacon. The meat was huge and the hollandaise was perfect. I usually get the French Connection because I love how fluffy the French toast is and I'm a sucker for good sausage links! Service: really friendly staff! The food was hot and fresh but it came out quickly. We did brunch on a weekday and it was relatively busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. LOTS of parking and it's free which is a huge plus. Brunch can be a nightmare because of wait times and issues with parking but this location hits the sweet spot. Sunset Grill is a weekend favourite for us and we're always looking for new locations to mix it up or dependent on our plans afterwards. It was actually terrible. Not terrible enough for a 1 star. The food is always just ok. I've been here a few times and it's just gotten worse each time. One time we had to wait for our cutlery while our food was just sitting at our table. I got French toast and asked for nutella and just never got it. Which is whatever but they still decided to charge me for it. I think the problem is they need to help train the serving staff to remember the basics. I've never stepped foot in a sunset grill before. My friend and I wanted to meet for lunch at a lunch type place, and this place fit the bill! Having both breakfast and lunch available, with brunch type options as well. Located in the new plaza on lakeshore, this restaurant looks small from the outside, but actually is really large on the inside with tons of ample seating. Having just opened in April, I don't think many people got the memo yet, because when we got there at 1215pm, there was maybe 3 small groups there. I got the sunset chicken club with a basic coffee. The coffee brew was actually pretty tasty, as was the meal. My only complaint was my sandwich was incorrectly made, but not overly a huge deal. The server was pleasant and knew when to give us space to chat, which was great. Washrooms were clean, tons of ample parking. I'd definitely come again. 4/5 read more

This new location is great! Sunset Grill is a pretty popular breakfast chain now so it's tricky to review [most people have already covered the basics] but they just opened up this particular location in the recent months despite having one just up the road and so far so good. The food & service was much better than most other Sunset Grill's I've been too. Very fast and friendly. The restaurant itself is a little strange in the layout, it's quite skinny. But everything is clean & new. There's a decent amount of seating but only the back portion has windows that face Lakeshore. I don't think you'll be disappointed by this experience!! read more

This is a relatively new location and it is great! I came here with my friend for breakfast after a 10 k run along the waterfront. I am a big fan of Sunset Grill in general as they always cook my bacon exactly how I like it and the pieces are thick cut unlike many other breakfast restaurants with small and very thin pieces. What really needs to be highlighted about this location is their service. Someone acknowledges you immediately. Our server was very friendly and courteous. Our dirty plates were cleared immediately and there was always someone coming around with refills on coffee. They are very attentive, friendly and engaging.
