Philthy Philly's was one of them. This eatery is in Clarkson, just south of the GO station. Clarkson is growing on me as a neighbourhood. It is roughly twenty minutes away from my workplace, so it's quite a distance from my home. I drove over here after work on evening. I pulled into this plaza, which has a bunch of stores that I want to check out when I'm back. I parked and walked in. There is plenty of parking. There was one person placing an order. It was enough time for me to review the menu and figure out what I wanted to get. Philthy Philly's has recently introduced Broad Street burgers to its menu. I love a good burger, but I was craving a cheesesteak more. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Grow-Op burger, which is a veggie burger. The person helping me with my Groupon was helpful and cool. The redemption was straightforward. I ordered a regular cheesesteak. I got steak, with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, swiss cheese, and apple butter mesquite sauce. I also got a Phil-sized bacon poutine and a Diet Coke. I got my Diet Coke and waited for my order at a table. It gave me time to observe the artwork around me. My order was ready. I picked it up and thanked the guy. I was ready to chow down. I was hungry! The bacon poutine is the best at this Philthy Phil's. The bacon was crisp. The gravy was perfect, melting all the cheese curds into the perfect cheese pull with every fork helping. One word: fantastic! My cheesesteak was so good. It was my first time trying the apple butter mesquite sauce. It has so many complex layers of flavour. I loved that it was almost different with each bite. Yum! This place has a single women's washroom, which was spacious and clean. I saw two guys go into the men's, so I can't comment on that and don't want to speculate! I thanked the staff here when I left. It's my favourite Philthy Phil's so far in my cheesesteak journey within and around the GTA. (304)

We made reservations a day or two in advance for a party of 20, to ensure the restaurant would know we were coming. We sat at 6:45 and ordered our first round of drinks easily enough, but things went off the rails from there. Multiple orders came late and/or inaccurate. My own, for example was a simple burger. I never received the first attempt at filling my order until the rest of my table already had empty plates. By the third attempt at delivery my burger (seriously, cheese, lettuce and tomato...that's all I wanted), I finally just ate the last one. One of the kids in the group was asked multiple times what she ordered (just poutine) before hers finally showed up. No one, at any point, attempted to clear the empty plates that sat for over an hour. When it came time for the bills, our waitress was no where to be found. Another waitress stepped in to help (she was amazing and deserves better). One person in our party raised this issue with the manager/owner who proceeded to just blame his waitresses while he completely avoided any accountability. After the displeasure was raised to him, he did nothing to help his staff. Rather, he cowered in the doorway to the kitchen while his overworked/under appreciated staff worked to try and rectify this situation. I believe the waitress that stepped in to help out was named Michaela. She was fantastic and should she look for a better restaurant to work at, should be hired on site. We have made an annual group trip to the area and now dined at this restaurant twice. There will not be a third time. We will take our business down the sidewalk to Dave & Busters.

They bring your order to you, but if you need a coffee refill, or milk and cream, you need to pick them up yourself at the station. Coffee refill was a challenge for us, since we had to go through all other tables and wait for the staff to refill our coffee, and even there were times they were out of milk and had to drink our coffee black. We ordered "Key West Eggs", "Crepe au Fraises", "Slow Roasted Lamb" and "Canadian Peameal Back Bacon". Our food was delicious and we would love to go back and try more of their menu items. The Balsamic Chicken (with bacon, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, spinach and pesto aioli) was fantastic, and had excellent flavours. The side dipping sauce was delicious. The Florence St. Sandwich (with tomatoes, artichokes, Asiago and sun dried tomato pesto) was good, but I didn't enjoy the flavours as much so would probably try something different the next time. I would have preferred to select my own bread since the ciabatta and panini was hard to cut through with a knife - it got messy. It would have been better if it was cut in half before being served to the customer to make it easier to eat. After ordering from the counter, there was sign to wait to be seated. Service just to get seated was extremely slow. In the end, we asked someone if we could seat ourselves, which we did. The food was then brought to the table, but it was confusing since we had to get up again to go to a different counter to put cream and sugar in our coffee. Although the portion size of the chicken and ingredients were good, the sandwiches were pricey considering there was no table service, and seating was disorganized. It would be difficult to host large groups or families here. It would have been ok to reduce the amount of chicken to cut costs and price since there were two thick layers of meat. Ambiance was good.

I liked a lot of things about it and there was nothing I didn't like particularly other than maybe the bottom bun was a little soggy. Picture shows overfill container of purple 'kaleslaw' you get itty bitty container of normal coleslaw mostly, half full. Tasted pretty good. 1 / 10. Burger just didn't taste that good. Meat seemed OK, sauce didn't taste right. Soggy buns, untoasted, just not that great. Wendys is way better. 6/10?. Paid a dollar for garlic aioli. Terrible. Tasted like miracle whip, sweet and nothing like garlic. I expect garlic aioli to taste like garlic. Very small container. Their steak sandwich looks great. Maybe stick to that and the chicken and you'll do alright.

Tried some different items from the menu this time, and though I love the burgers and steak sandwiches (the better option over burgers IMO), this time I found the beef to be a little salty (it could be because of the cheese and other ingredients that have salt + the salt added in the patty itself) and the chicken tenders too bland. I also tried "Unleash my Hunger" which was amazing (with the mozzarella!). I have tried the pancake burger as well and loved the addition of guacamole. For the chicken tenders, when eaten with a burger, you won't be able to distinguish the taste since there's a lot of sauce inside the burger. However, when you eat the tender by itself, then you can taste the difference. Regardless, I still really enjoyed the tenders. The sweet potato fries and the onion rings were good. The milkshakes are also good, though the strawberry was a little sweet for me. I love the selection and the amount of variety in the burgers. I liked the addition of jalapeño poppers. There is a lot of different types of burgers and sandwiches to choose from, including a mix of beef and chicken in the sandwich. I also like that there's many side options. Would I go back? Yes. Owners and staff were friendly as well.

This private room is really well done. It is a small long room that can fit quite a long table. The lighting is great and it even has a TV at the end of it. The food is great. The vibes are great and the service is very good! Since we were part of a large group, we got a few appetizers to share like the nacho platter and the garlic bread. I had a chance to try the nachos and they were great. For my main I asked our server which pastas she recommended and she gave some great suggestions. I ended up going with the fettuccine alfredo and added chicken to it. I was honestly really pleasantly surprised that it tasted absolutely delicious and also came with a small garlic bread. I also had the chance to try their sweet potato fries which were also really good. Since we were here for a friend's birthday we did bring a cake and the staff were so kind and helpful. They brought the cake out and brought knives, cutlery and small plates for us to serve the cake. They even went above and beyond by offering to take the cake back to the kitchen and keep it in the fridge for us, they actually cut up the rest of the cake and put them in takeout containers for all of us to take home. In terms of payment, they were able to split bills for such a large party, which I appreciated. The rest of the restaurant has a very chill vibe as well. They have live music which was nice to enjoy for a bit. However, I also really appreciated the fact that the private room had doors on it which is really nice for privacy if we wanted it. The washrooms here are also very clean. Overall, I had a great first experience here, and I think I will definitely be back for their patio in the summertime.
