Wait for the end... I'm going to be 100% honest. I hate the dentist. Like absolutely positively hate the dentist. But ya boy has weak enamel and is prone to cavities no matter how good I floss, and brush my teeth. But I got recommended by my mom to this place because I was having thee worst tooth pain known to man. To the point where I was popping 1200mg of advil every day. And it still didn't work. So I knew my longtime hate for the dentist was brewing again. I ended up calling Sunset and they got me in on a rush appointment the very next morning for an emergency root canal. And I was absolutely dreading it. But when I got there everyone was very friendly and they numbed me up really good. Stopping in-between to make sure I wasn't feeling anything. And honestly, they really really took care of me there, mind you I've never experienced any kind of loving treatment like that before because I always saw the dentist as a business that's trying to make money and they don't really do a good enough job to actually fix the issue at hand. It was always a mediocre job just to get you back in the chair within 3 years so they can drain your bank account. Not Sunset Dental. They really made me feel like I was family. And it was cool that they actually do all the work in house like making the fake teeth for the root canal so I didn't have to leave and come back to see if the tooth fit properly. It's truly a 1 stop shop for dental work. They really want you to have that Colgate smile and I felt that. If you're like me and you don't like the dentist. Sunset Dental Group will absolutely change your mind because I did. Now I only hate every other Dentist lol No, But sunset dental you really helped me and took care of me and honestly you didn't break the bank so I will forever be a loyal customer to you. Excellent Dentist group, I was referred by a co-worker. My current dentist was gouging me. There response was "well we only charge according to the city??" Sunset Dental was amazing. Currently having dental work done now. I am not being paid or sponsored to write this article. Im just very happy when I find a honest, kind, very clean, friendly business. They do EVERYTHING IN HOUSE so they dont have to farm out their crown work. They are family owned!! My wife says im very high maintenance LOL but I have nothing to complain about regarding this business. We are retired so we make every dollar count. I wish I could have found them earlier... Been coming here for 3 years now since I moved to the area and can't speak highly enough about this place! The entire staff here at Sunset Dental are incredibly friendly and patient, and Drs. Kronquist are both fantastic. Everyone takes their time with explaining what's being done, and they try to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible no matter how big or small the procedure. After a horrible experience at another office that left issues unresolved I am so glad to have found Dr.Amanda, she's funny, kind and patient. Her staff assisting is great as well. The office is in a cool house turned office, clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly and helpful. Dr.Amanda listened to my concerns and thoroughly looked over my problems. X-rays were taken and a ct scan done to thoroughly determine a problem with a tooth. A past office visit elsewhere left issues not taken care of and I was having pain. Dr.Amanda was able to fill both the previous issues but unfortunately neglect from the past dentist missing a key problem will leave me with having an implant put in. I'm grateful for Sunset Dental and the care they give their patients with no rushing and lots of patience. It feels so much better not being in pain and be able to eat again! Originally left a review on Facebook but not here so here it is: I've been coming to this office since for about 15 years now. Originally I came to this office to see Dr. Sanchez regarding braces. I went to different offices who all told me I needed surgery to correct my jaw, however, not Dr. Sanchez. Two years with braces and my teeth were looking perfect..I get complimented all the time. Dr. Sanchez is seriously the best. After my braces, I eventually became Dr. Amanda's patient and she's awesome. Great attitude, friendly, etc. I love that this place is family owned. This past Monday I called in an emergency to get my tooth fixed after it chipped really bad and they took me in last minute. Very happy customer. I thought I was going to walk around looking like the Mad Tv cartoon but luckily Dr. Amanda squeezed me in and fixed my tooth. Happy as can be. Let me just say one word. HATE.I hate any type of doctor's period. I have high anxiety when it comes to seeing doctors or dentist. Same thing. Sometimes, I wish I didn't have that type of anxiety but it's the fact that they might be the bearer of bad new is what freaks me out the most. It sucks but it's true. That is just how my mind and body works. I'm also a extremely nervous person. I always have to breath in and out alot and I mean alot. So my fiancé is the one that sorta convinced me to go get a check up on my teeth. I haven't gotten anything dental done in over 15 years. I never had dental insurance because I didn't feel the need too. I never had any toothaches or anything. My last check up was to see if I had any new cavities and removal of all 4 of my wisdom teeth when I was 19. After the removal of 4 wisdom teeth, I said F F F this shit. I ain't going back to a dentist in a long time! Anyways, I went to this visit with my fiancé. This dental place has been my fiancés for over 20 years. He has been getting all his work done here. I can see why. Everyone was super welcoming and nice. I can't ask for better service. They did an X-ray on my teeth. Mine was examined by Amanda. One of the dentist working there. She was super cool and sweet. She immediately told me I have strong teeth. I do have to get some work done... which I'm not looking forward too. I have to get some fillers done and one of my teeth needs a new crown. Other than that, I don't have any gum issues and I'm glad I have strong teeth. Yay! Cavities I kinda already knew because I previously had crowns put on my molers before. All my cavities are on the back side of the teeth. I need to brush them more now. I ain't perfect and that's that. Afterwards, my fiancé suggested that I get a cleaning. Oh boy, that was fun. Those metal tools they used on me. I was in a little pain for the rest of the day, but the lady doing the cleaning was very nice. She gave me breaks because I kept making noises due to my anxiety disorders. She gave me a tissue to wipe my face but I turned that into an anti stress ball squishier LOL! I felt bad for her because she was so worried because I was making a lot of mouth noises. I told her don't worry about it. I got a few breaks into between my cleaning. I was like whew! After it was all over. My fiancé also has to get a bridge done but I think we will be ok. One step at a time. I left the place with a free t shirt, a tooth brush and some floss. The lady that check us out was also very sweet. Yes, with all my anxiety disorders and nervousness I did manage to get through the whole process. I'm pretty proud of myself LOL! I ain't looking forward towards my next visit, but I know it's important to get a cleaning once in awhile. See you guys in 6 months LOL! read more

This was my first time going to this dentist, and honestly my first time going to the dentist since I've lived in OC. I was super anxious because I hadn't been to a dentist in a long time. I feel really blessed that Mo was the one who cleaned my teeth. He was so nice, and so understanding about how i was feeling. He went above and beyond. genuinely the best experience i've ever had in a clinic, everyone is so knowledgeable, kind, patient, and passionate with what they do and i felt so comfortable and taken care of. i received a consultation exam, x-ray, thorough cleaning, and all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth taken out while they were offering their time for their collaboration with @transitionsoc and @lgbtqcenteroc to open more access to their excellent dental care. everyone wore a mask during our visit too! the cleaning was straight forward and very detailed, and the wisdom teeth extraction went wonderfully. they numbed me and got everything out with very mild discomfort and lots of cute humming and encouragement i'm definitely going to be coming here from now on for my dental care, and this experience reaffirmed my passion for community building and i'm so grateful for everyone involved who made this possible!! wonderful team :) there is a narrow alley that leads to the back of the building with about 10 parking spaces, i was able to snag a spot coming in early but there is street parking close by i cannot recommend them enough, i'm honestly overjoyed with the care i received and it made going to medical visits a lot less daunting read more

I used to have an AMAZING dentist, he was kind, gentle and efficient. He was old school and his office wasn't pretty but he had a wonderful bedside manner. Then he retired, we tried out the new dentist who had bought his practice. She fixed the place up and she was a nice person but it just wasn't the same. This was over 16 years ago. Since this time we have seen at least seven different dentists and the experiences range from bad to worse. I hate going to the dentist now and unfortunately my kids have picked up on that, they hate it too. We actually have an excellent orthodontist that we love but he doesn't do dental. We've even gone to a place that he recommended and even that was a negative experience. So I went back to trusty old Yelp and found Sunset Dental Group. It's close to home, has good reviews with dazzling smiles looking at me from the pictures. We decided to give them a try. The administrative experience was challenging because they had a difficult time verifying our insurance. I had to call the insurance company myself and hand the phone over to the receptionist to confirm benefits. The office was very clean, comfortable and aesthetically it was just darling. Dr. Amanda took care of my boys. They said she was very gentle and she was funny too! They loved that. She explained everything that she was doing to them and she didn't condescend. I really appreciated that she treated them like equals rather than kids. The review could end nicely right here and it would still be positive but...when I tell you that Dr. Amanda goes above and beyond just listen; our appointments were finished and we were going to leave but my car battery died! I had just cancelled my AAA insurance because I hadn't used it in 4 years so I was stuck. I went inside the office and asked if anyone could give me a jump. Dr. Amanda came to the rescue, she called her AAA and got him to come at lunchtime within 45 minutes. She even gave him a $20 tip, WITH HER OWN MONEY...LITERALLY FROM HER OWN POCKET! Very late review about 3 months overdue! This place EARNS its stars! From the front office staff to the dentist, everyone is pleasant to deal with. Usually at a dentist/doctors office the staff will act like you're bothering them, where here you are welcomed and everyone smiles at you. So my daughter had a bad toothache and they fit her in SAME DAY without a fuss. They took X-rays explained what was going on and took care of it. It took another visit in order to correct the issue (first to stop the pain and further damage, second once swelling was down to perform the work), but everything went well and my daughter was not in excruciating pain any longer. Both visits the staff was very cordial so it leads me to believe it's a habit and not just an exception. read more

I came here due to the amazing reviews and they delivered! Have been coming here for cleanings and all my dental needs. I needed a filling and they came in and did it quickly. I wanted to replace some old fillings too and they scheduled me quickly. On the day, they gave me some numbing shots. I get nothing. No pain or discomfort. My previous dentist was amazing but during the filling, I always felt sharp pain at the tooth but this time I felt nothing. The dentist was amazing. Super nice. Dental reviews on yelp are kind of a weird bunch. You see tons of 5 stars, then tons of 1 stars, and you really never know, especially with places that have a good mix of both. I chose Sunset initially because there weren't a lot of reviews, but the ones that were here were positive, and for some reason they looked happy in their photos. I wasn't disappointed. I'm genuinely really impressed by Dr. Amanda & Dr. Zakary, as well as everyone else here. I went in needing a teeth cleaning and also to generally figure out why I had tooth pain. I had no insurance. Some places tend to judge you if you don't have insurance, or they turn you away entirely. That wasn't the case here. They welcomed me in with open arms. They fixed my problems, and made me a lot happier having gone to them rather than someone else. During the visit, they did a lot of work to try to find the root cause of my tooth pain. They did a lot of investigation, involving tapping, looking, looking at more x-rays, etc. I genuinely felt like they took my problem seriously, and I had both doctors looking at my teeth and trying to figure out the problem. Ultimately, they suggested it might have been related to not having a cleaning in a while. They discovered and filled two cavities too, both of which Dr. Zakary pulled off (at my request) without anesthetics, same day. I felt no pain, and I actually really enjoyed how fast they were able to do it. Again, no pain, even without anesthetics (at my request, again, to be clear). The cleaning itself went off with out a hitch, and the rest of the other work was really well executed. I truly felt like everyone was on the same team, and that they were all working diligently to solve the problem and help me feel better. I left pleasantly surprised with how it went, and I'm super happy to suggest them. They're excellent. If you need dental work (you do!), there's no question: Sunset is really one of a kind, and they're a truly wonderful and polite team. read more

Dr. Amanda and her team are the absolute best of the best! My old dentist would spend 10 minutes doing a manual cleaning, maybe take some old-school x-rays, and then send me on my way. When I switched to Sunset Dental, I was so impressed by not only the caliber of the dentists and staff but also the state-of-the-art technology. My patient chair also had a massage function, which I thought was pretty great. Appointments are easy to schedule, and I'm always seen promptly. All of the dentists and hygienists that I've worked with are fantastic. Unnecessarily rough and inconsistent. Definitely did not live up to the hype. Got my hopes up thinking I finally found the right dentist, but they were dishonest and just as bad as any other mediocre dentist out there. Will keep searching for a truly gentle dentist who can also manage to be honest/straightforward instead of baiting me with false promises. Extremely disappointed. It only took two visits and I never returned. You can keep the insurance, the abuse and pain you inflict are not worth it. Mo reassured me I had no reason to be hesitant, that he would work with me in the most gentle way possible.. He never worked on me, Amanda did, and she was not terrible but most definitely not finnesse and gentle. I was *terrified* of the dentist. I had not been in five years because of really negative (borderline traumatic) experiences. This visit was dreaded but I bit the bullet and made an appointment. Dr Amanda is energetic, friendly, and reassuring. The most non-dentisty dentist ever. She walked me through my x-rays and recommendations. I have a complicated dental history due to my cleft palate and she was confident and well-informed about how to care for my implants. Moe is hilarious and took care of my deep cleaning. I won't ever call a deep cleaning pleasant... but he was patient, thorough, and attuned to when I was uncomfortable or needed a break.
