I recently bought a brand new diesel from Justin and Daniel. They were awesome!!Daniel was really laid back and helped me pick out my dream truck. Justin then made sure I was comfortable with all the numbers. Within 30 minutes I was back to finance, where Cynthia did the paperwork. She was very sweet and low pressure. All in all I was there about 2 hours and was down the road in my new Duramax!!!! I can't wait to come back and get my free oil change & car wash!!! read more

On Thursday my transmission gave out so I decided it was time for a new rig. The requirements were simply, everything I had from my Denali but newer and reliable. So I only made one pass through in the parking lot at their Puyallup location. Saw the vehicle I wanted the and the rest was easy. Mike Jones we able to relate, speak freely and I didn't feel like I was in a high pressure sales dealership which I have in the past. Not only did they work with me on the price and resolving some issue I had with the vehicle their finance person, Marissa, was great with my kids when we went back to fill out the paperwork. I've been one of those folks that have spent 5 hours closing and I knew what I wanted and didn't want. Made my experience much better. When you spend less than 2 hours driving, pricing, negotiating and closing on a vehicle that's winning. read more

Bought my truck here new back in 2015. They always take care me and my truck with friendly professional service however, today i am here for a 7am appointment to take care of a safety recall. I was told when i made the appointment that it takes about an hour. I said i would wait for it to be finished. The problem is the technician that does that repair doesn't start work until 8am. So i am thinking i will probably be sitting around 2 to 3 hours. They could have told me that when i made the appointment. Nice way to spend a day off of work. It turns out that they were able to do the work and get me on my way in 45 minutes. Great job guys. read more

Service is excellent! Brought in my 2008 Impala to get the recall service on the ignition and keys. They gave me the info I needed, such as how long I could expect to be there and what to bring (all of my sets of keys for that car). I also purchased my first car from Sunset over a decade ago, and it is nice to see that their high service standards haven't changed at all. The service center people are polite to deal with, speak to you in English, and explain everything that you need to know when you come in. I really appreciate that they are my local dealership and would always choose their service folks over other dealerships in the future! read more

I purchased a new 2015 truck from Sunset on 12/5/15. I knew I wanted to buy a new truck but was undecided on the engine and options I wanted. Salesman Sean Stead really took the time to listen to what I needed and thoughtfully provided knowledgable answers to my myriad of questions. He spent a lot of time with me and never made me feel pressured or rushed to make a decision. I couldn't be happier with the truck I bought or the selection process Sean patiently walked me through. As a long time loyalist to another dealer I was almost expecting to be let down by Sunset but instead Sean easily converted me to a Sunset customer. He is a great asset to Sunset and a pleasure to do business with. Thanks again Sean! read more

MORE LIKE SUNSHIT CHEVROLET!! DON'T BUY A VEHICLE HERE. Worst customer service on the planet. If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst customer service and worst vehicle I purchased ever. My vehicle has 80,000 miles, IS under warranty still, been brought in 2 times for the same thing already, and here we go again. However they will try to NOT honor warranty, but I know better and they have to....KNOW YOUR LAWS IF YOU BUY FROM THEM! Had an appointment at 9 and vehicle is still there 5 hours later. Called to see what going on twice, and was told someone will call back! Still waiting..... The employees act like they are bumping into the walls. Go somewhere where they don't lie and steal from honest hard working people. Disgusted by what they deem as customer service. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! BUY FROM ANYWHERE BUT SUNSHIT CHEVROLET. read more

Jake and Craig went above and beyond. My husband and I have thrown around the idea of trading in our manual 2012 Chevy Cruze for something automatic for the last year or so - however after all of the extended warranties we had purchased and the GAP insurance we were upside down and it didn't make any sense for us. Jake called me on Thursday letting me know about the great rebates that they have right now on the Cruze and said that he could likely get us out the door with a brand new 2015 model with no down payment and they would apply our warranty buybacks to the purchase m- all without drastically changing our payment. He invited us in over the weekend to take a look at what they had. Fast forward to Saturday. We walked in about 20 minutes after opening and just a couple hours later were the proud owners of not a 2015 but a 2016 Chevy Cruz. It is more than we even hoped for - the features on it are unbelievable and we have an automatic again! While we were waiting for our turn with financing the guys even got us breakfast sandwiches from McDonalds. You can tell they care about their clients. The financing process was incredibly smooth for a Saturday and we drove home in our brand new car with a very minimal change to our current payment. Starting over at brand new with a lifetime powertrain warranty and 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is a HUGE relief as we REALLY used our warranties on our previous car. We couldn't be happier with our new car and I am super impressed that the guys took the time to call us just to make our lives easier! I'd highly recommend Craig and Jake if you are in the market for a new car - or even if you aren't! read more

So I called Roman my salesman to see what they could do for me as far as reference to get it fixed. Not only did they refer me they are going to set it all up and get it done for me at their dealership. They called me?! Wow unbelievable these days for a business to take care of their customers like they do. Always friendly and helpful no matter what my needs are for my truck. Thanks Tyler Foss and Roman seriously Sunset Chevrolet is the best! They all have been awesome from the start! Happy with purchase and care afterwards. read more

This is a long awaited review that these guys highly deserve! I purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee from this dealership back in September of last year, and from the moment I entered the door this establishment was courteous, helpful, and made my first new car (the newest I have bought to this date) purchase one I will judge all others against in the future. Instead of just describing the experience as a whole, I feel it necessary to give each individual person their own just deserves. DJ Geifer: Sales - This man's character is comparable to none. It is obvious that he truly cares not only about you as a person, but in benefiting the world every day that he can. I didn't think I would ever say this about a car salesman, but DJ has an amazing soul, an amazing presence, and leaves no doubt in you that you are going to be well taken care of by him. It felt as if I was working with a long-time friend, and not someone I had just met. Mike Hayburn: Financing - As if my time with DJ wasn't great enough, Mike continued the excellent interaction on by going above and beyond to find me a loan provider that gave me an excellent loan payment and a better interest rate than what I had been able to acquire on my own! The relationship that he has with lending institutions is next to mythical, and I am very confidant that I would not have been able to buy the car that I did if it had not been for Mike. He even kept me updated as to the status of my loan proceedings days after I had signed all the paperwork, and made me feel as if I was a top priority of his. Colton : Service - After buying my car I noticed that the brakes were a little shaky when decelerating from high speeds. Since I had to bring the car back to have some warranty work done anyways, I asked if the brakes could be addressed as well. Colton was not only knowledgeable and upfront with me in terms to what my warranty would and would not cover, but was also courteous, helpful and genuinely wanted to get my car fixed properly. I look forward to working with him and will for sure bring my car back to Sunset service for all the work I need done. Juan : service - Upon bringing my car into the shop to get the aforementioned work done. I was in severe need of a ride to the airport afterwards. Juan took time out of his day to drive me from Sumner to Sea Tac, did it with a smile, and wouldn't even accept the tip that I wanted to give him. "It's all part of the job." he said, and I will never forget the kindness and generosity that it took to say that. I want to thank all of the people a Sunset Chevrolet for an amazing buying experience that I will not soon forget. You have an amazing team there I will certainly recommend your establishment to all of my friend's an family members. Congrats on a job well done! read more

It's pretty frustrating the lack of communication this dealership suffers from. When I originally scheduled my services I was informed it would all be covered by my warranty, "free oil change for life," or so they claim. When I arrived to drop off my vehicle not only was I hit with an outrageous price tag for services that I shouldn't have to pay for, but I'm also informed I'll have to pay for the oil change as well. When I asked Scott, The guy with the worst attitude I've ever encountered, why I don't qualify if it's "free" for life, the only logical response he could come up with is "you just don't." Thanks, Scott, for your excellent deductive reasoning and horrible customer service. This place is a sham, built on false promises to lure customers in. read more

We had a terrible experience here today with a total pushy, rude sales man named Dareon. He talked to me like I was a idiot, was big headed and didn't want to work numbers with us at all. By the time he finished everything my husband and I still have no idea what was going on price wise until we ended up in a financial office and by that point I was so pissed off I tried to leave and thank goodness for Brian there financial guy because not only did he get us in the car we wanted but also did the job of the jerk we started with and negotiated a better deal for us! read more

Worst service dept experience ever!!! First let me preface, my husband and I have purchased several vehicles from Sunset and referred some friends who purchased a truck. We took our 2020 Tahoe that we bought new from Sunset in for a regular oil change last week. I have only ever had this vehicle touched by their dept. I let them know when booking that it was randomly having issues starting when pressing the start button so we scheduled to have it looked at the same time. They informed me, even though we paid extra for the extended warranty and 40k miles we would be charged $180 to look at it and diagnose for mechanics time. To be fair, I agreed (though I wasnt sure why this wouldnt be under warranty). I just wanted to figure out why it was doing this since we were already there. We dropped it off last tues and was told to call the following day around 3pm. When I called, I spoke with the service mgr Matt who said they couldnt find anything and would call back when oil change was done. I called my husband at work and he had questions so he then called and left a msg for Matt so he could find out what things they did to look for the problem to get better understanding. No call back. We then get a text from Matt around 5pm that car is ready for pickup so we rushed down there from Gig Harbor. When we get in the door I could sense that Matt already had a chip on his shoulder (maybe he was having a bad day). My husband already had his card out to pay then asked Matt what items were checked so we could understand the $180 price tag better and his comment was it was for his guys time (fair enough)..but again my husband asked "but what did you do though?" and he then pushed the paperwork at my husband and said "read" with a smirk on his face and attitude. We are very fair people and value peoples time. It wasnt about the $, but the principal because he then said they drove it around the block and it started no problem. Right there we caught Matt in a lie because we informed him we have the onstar smart driver app which is very detailed and shows time stamps, dates, mph and the mapping of when and where the car moves...it had not moved since we dropped it off the day before. Matt then got even more defensive and said he didnt want to deal with us. He took at as us yelling at him and said he had been yelled at all day by customer's and definitly wasnt going to be yelled at by us. I was so embarrassed and in utter shock at the disrespect he was giving us when we were trying to get an understanding (definetly no yelling involved) of what had been done to find the problem. We felt like all they did was turn the start button on then off and wanted to scam us out of $180. He said we were not valuing his mechanics time. This is beyond not who we are. We never mind paying for a service. My husband asked if he checked the starter because he had a mechanical background and was a little familiar and Matt's response was "cool". I butted in and told him I couldnt believe he was treating us this way when we have purchased several vehicles, referred and only taken our car here and he says to me"cool, we are a different dept."I was litterally shaking when we left and my husband was pissed. We never mind paying the $180 and definetly value people's time, mine included. We only wanted to understand what was done which was more than a fair question, because to be honest we felt we were getting scammed. I cant believe he is a manager too! Our friend who purchased a truck from them and picked up earlier in the day for a service said the same about their dealings with him. This is not how customer's should ever be treated. I don't care if the service dept is a different dept..they are a reflection of Sunset. Funny thing is, I always get a survey sent to me after every service...oddly enough not this time. We will be purchasing a new truck before end of the year and this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and will be going elsewhere. Try some Kindness and compassion Matt! read more

Sunset Chevy is a complete ripoff, be very careful when dealing with this company. I was sold a vehicle and bought an extended warranty, was told that the warranty would extend past the 100,000 mile "normal" warranty, but guess what, once that milage was hit, it was a complete hands off approach by the dealership. I called everyone from the dealer who sold it to me, to the general manager of the whole company and was told "sorry, you should have asked that question when you bought that" Which I stated I did, and was told different. Now they do not even answer my phone calls. Worst company I have ever dealt with in my 50 years of existence. I will never buy a vehicle from this company again. Ted Foley read more

Brought my Chevrolet Silverado in because of a check trailer brake light... this is a 2017 with 50k miles... after 100$ diagnosis fee it turns out it needs a new trailer brake module which is easily accessed under the spare tire. 1100-1200$$$ for them to complete this job. I said no thank you. Talked to another auto repair shop and it turns out Chevy has to program the module so there's no getting around it. However this mechanic suggested contacting gm to see if there's anything that can be done on their end. I did this and opened up a claim with GM and after 2-3 weeks of talking to people on the phone they decided to cover 2/3rds the cost leaving me with only 3-400$$$ plus the 100$ I'm out for the diagnosis fee. Sunset then contacts me we schedule an appointment. I show up drop my truck off at 730am and go about my day as I scheduled a ride to pick me up. At 1030 I get a call saying there was a mistake and they don't actually have the brake module... it's on back order and they don't even have an estimated time of when they will get it, so I can come come get my truck that's still not fixed. I guess the majority of my frustration stands in two places. One is this part is easily accessed and replaceable after lowering the spare tire it's literally two screws and disconnecting wire harness... you need less skills to do this then change oil, but because the part needs to be "flashed" the dealer has to do it which equals in my case about $500.00. Second is the overall lack of service- from the phone calls to service department, the standing around waiting to be helped, to the appointment that should've never even been made because they don't have the part. Never go to this place. They told me I was pre-approved. I drove from Tacoma to Sumner at night in a car that was unsafe and needed repairs. They then said they said they would finance my boyfriend and not me. No, I need to be on my car I am paying for. I kept getting the run around BS from them that they are not in, waiting on a bank...blah blah blah. I said well if it is NO please tell me so I can use the money I saved for a down payment to repair my unsafe car (brakes bad). Today I found out that 3 days ago the salesman was told I could not be financed. What a liar. Just today he told me to be patient that I was going to get approved! I had a battery that kept going dead even though it was only a couple of months old. It had been replaced 3 times. I was told and told Sunset that it was probably the analog onstar gps that kept searching for a satellite. Instead of checking that out they replace a cable to the battery. Said it was corroded. I took the car home and it happened again. When I called them three more times telling them the problem was not resolved they never got back to me. I will never recommend this dealership to anyone. I was double teamed when I came in by 2 salesmen that promised me everything I asked for. Some small stuff, some not so small. I bought the vehicle July 31 and I'm still working through the details. I've left messages with a manager that didn't get returned. I do deal with one salesman that keeps telling me he would have someone call me. And that's been going on since I bought the truck. It took them a week to put sidesteps on and were supposed to replace the windshield at the same time. I was called and told the vehicle was done, so I drove all the way there and the windshield was not replaced. There are streaks on the drivers door that I was told would be rubbed out, nope!! Then I was told that I'd be getting around 500.00 back from the lender of my trade in. It also was written on my contract how much they sent. I'm supposed to get 408.00 back and I've yet to receive a call from the finance person. My salesman keeps telling me that he'll call me. I've tried to call that department and can't even leave a message. The 2 salesmen had me convinced my trade in wasn't worth anything, that nobody would be interested in it. Come on!! It's a really nice 2017 XC 90 with only 25,000 miles on it. What a fiasco!!!! There's more but my fingers are tired. Because of the dirty dealing and lack of response and the misinformation I was given, the credit union I used is going to do an investigation. Other complaints have prompted as well. read more

I am very happy with my experience at Sunset Chevrolet. From beginning to end it was a no-hassles experience. Jacob M. was a friendly, laid back, honest guy, and I really appreciate that. The next day driving out of my house the engine light came on!! So it was on the whole time , guy at dealership iota probably just the code going off bring it in. So the next day on the way to the dealer the car was hiccuping and about to overheat. I pull over to the side of freeway to let the car cool down. So by the time I got in there I was pissed!' This review is for the Pre-Owned car sales at Sunset Chevrolet in Summner. I had a great experience with buying a vehicle from them about 9yrs ago, and decided to go back. Everything was going well with my current purchase, until I went to recieve the car. Thats when I found out that it was missing a key fob. Might not sound like a big deal, but its a $500 key fob, which will require programming. When I addressed the issue, the response was " its a used car"(mind you its 1yr old)....not the right answer. It came from the factory with two, it should be disclosed early in negotiations that it was missing. I did test drive the vehicle, and noted mentally that it had a 1/4 tank of gas. When I recieved it, it was less than an 1/8 tank....my frustration was peaking. The sales staff that I was working with knew that I drove an hour and a half away, but didnt ensure that there was sufficent gas in the car to get me down the road. The gas light came on as i was about 1/2 mi from the dealer. I recieved a phone call when I left from my salesman when I was driving away to see what it was I was angry about. He did take ownus of the situation with the key fob, and promised me a fob upon tag delivery. I expressed my displeasure about the fuel level, and his response was " we are a chevy dealer, not a chevron". Sooo, If this is the way that you want to be treated as soon as your papers are signed, go there. Just saw on the news that the owner thinks he's above everyone else and thinks a car dealership (or at least his) should be above everyone else and be deemed an essential service. This is the most self serving thing I have ever heard. YOU ARE NOT AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE. I have seen their commericals many times and thought about going there when I get my next car but after this piece of selfishness I would never step foot in there. Obviously all they care about is their bottom line. Hopefully they will not be given a waiver. read more

I have had two bad experiences since buying my car here. First they messed up my paperwork in financing making it so we got Denied our loan after we had already taken the car home....we had to return again to rectify it. Second we were told repeatedly during our sales process that we would get lifetime oil changes, apparently that was a lie. They told us at our first oil change that they do not do them for Toyota's and their sales people would never say that...it was my fault for assuming and obviously a misunderstanding. I will never return here to buy a car. Be warned. read more

It pains me to write this having to relive the horrible experience we had at this dealership in my head, but after reading through the other reviews for the past two years it really makes sense why this place is the WORST. As stated by other Yelpers, the salesman and finance guy (probably the same one I was harassed by) are bullies, condescending, rude, don't give one shit about the customer and only care about making that deal. My fiancé and I went in on Sunday February 14. We were greeted by a younger salesman (who was obviously new but did a great job and treated us with respect). They didn't have the Challenger we were looking for, but said we could go inside and take a look at what other surrounding dealerships might have. I wish I would have just gone back to my car and left. We sit down for not two minutes before the "bigger" salesman Jason came over to wrangle us in and take us over to his computer, like it mattered. So, he finds a Camaro freshly detailed they had in the back, brings it up and I have my fiancé test drive it with me in the passenger. Its low miles, custom exhaust, wheels, etc. Needless to say it was very nice and we were ready to buy that day. We go sit down and he prints off an invoice for pricing, and at the bottom of the sheet basically chicken scratches a paragraph stating we are interested in purchasing the vehicle if they can get it out the door tax and license within my budget and goes to check with the finance guy. I sign (fully under the impression it was giving him permission to check with his manager) and before Jason goes back he looks at my fiancé and asks if we want to buy it, and my fiancé responds "possibly". We go back outside to look at the car while were waiting Jason comes out and says lets go sit down and I said we are going to take a breather and talk a little bit and make sure we are making the right decision dropping 25k CASH on a car. Jason stares back at me, now scowling so I ask "What" and he says "I'm just wondering why you signed this paper" and then STORMS off into the back. About two minutes later he brings what appears to be their closer guy, we sit at a table my fiancé next to me and the finance guy across from me and he said so what's wrong with the car? I'm like what... there's nothing wrong with the car I have told you twice now that we need to take a look around make sure I'm not going to just make an emotional decision and buy this car on a whim. And he responds, "Well where'd we go wrong?" Let me paint you a little picture. While finance guy is staring back at me, he literally begins to arch up taller in his chair, poof his chest out, and look down at me. To my left is Jason the salesman standing angrily looking down at me with his arms crossed. While this "intimidation tactic" is happening, I directly let them know "I don't like how I'm being treated" and I ask the finance guy, so basically me signing this HANDWRITTEN note is saying I am liable to buy the car. The finance guy responds "yes." (with beard and brown hair) asks me THE EXACT SAME QUESTION again and impatiently says "we're in the business of selling cars here" as to say you buy this car now because you're wasting our time. At this point I feel like I'm going to cry, so I say ok I'm walking out. As I'm leaving, the asshole says CONGRATULATIONS as I walk out the door. Congratulations at being horrible at your job? Yes. Pros: They had a nice Camaro Cons: Use a lot of games and intimidation in order to sell cars, as mentioned by others Do not care about the customer's opinions No prices on cars Extremely aggressive and belittling Cliché grease ball car salesman NOT patient NOT flexible to customer's needs I want you guys to know, if you had treated me with respect and patience (hmmm what does that word mean) I would have bought the car day of and been writing a five star instead of the ever embarrassing and business strangling one star. But instead, I had the most horrendous experience ever at this place. I will never ever be back, and neither will my friends and family or anyone else I talk to regarding buying cars. So because Jason and the finance guy chose to be aggressive and impatient assholes you guys lost A LOT of business and frankly I'm pretty turned off to Chevy's from here on out.
