The Valvoline auto change places are all different... Depending on which one you go to for service this one I've never had a problem with they're always prompt and very nice and informative... They do ask you for upgrades but that's their business $ ..... no pressure sales. This place is convenient for In-N-Out service to keep your car running well. read more

Brought my 2018 Tundra for an oil change, shop forgot to put an oil filter sleeve back, 4 days later my truck broke down on I-5. Then the Sumner manager responds to my customer service complaint asking them to reimburse me for the $219 oil change sleeve part they forgot to put back on, and he refused to cover the cost of the part (with receipt for that amount from a shop that fixed my truck). The manager acknowledged that my truck cannot function without an oil sleeve, stated that my truck had no sleeve on it when it arrived, but had no answer when I asked how my truck had just run for 5,000 miles without a sleeve prior to showing up at his shop (this was his theory, that my truck rolled up with no sleeve). Then he hung up on me. The incompetence is sad. Don't trust this place with your vehicle, you'd think that it would t be impossible to screw up something as simple as an oil change, but they found a way to on my Tundra. If I could give zero stars, I would--negative stars if possible. I took my car here back in February for a standard oil change. After driving the recommended mileage, I went to a different Valvoline location, where I was told the previous place had put in 11.3 quarts of oil when the recommended amount is 6.4 quarts. The rep doing my oil change expressed concern about the overfill and advised me to contact the Sumner location immediately for a full inspection. For a place that specializes in oil changes, I'm completely baffled, perplexed, and confused as to how this could happen. Seriously, how is that possible? When I called the Sumner location to share my concern, the resolution was even worse--they suggested I bring my car back to the same place I no longer trust for a proper inspection. I had to wait over 40 Minutes just to get in the bay. Took over 30 minutes to change oil. I asked them to make sure my skid plate was securely attached. That was, but they did not reconnect my air intake hose after changing my air filter. This turned into a serious issue as we drove over to eastern Washington and back with it not attached. I will now pay that extra 40.00 to the dealer. They had 6 people on top and only 1 guy in the pit. The ones on top were on their phones more than not. DO NOT GO HERE. I used to love Valvoline at other locations. Here at sumner was a nightmare. They broke a part in my car during the oil change. I went back to have them fix it the next day and they couldn't figure it out so they told me to go to a mechanic asap. When I did the mechanic told me they broke a part. I submitted a claim and Valvoline manager denied it with lies saying I didn't go back to Valvoline to let them fix it first. I had spent 2 hours there while they tried to fix it before they sent me away. The mechanic found the issue in 4 minutes. Now im down 300 dollars. DISHONEST manager and terrible work. read more

Beware. This place prays on young women customers. Our teenage daughter was being responsible and brought a coupon in for an oil change. She came home crying because she'd ended up pay OVER $100 MORE than what she expected because they told her her car needed a different type of oil and a new filter without informing her of the new price, as neither qualified for the coupon. When we contacted the store they were completely unapologetic. Hopefully corporate will understand and coach their management. If you must use a Valvoline, avoid this store. The one on Canyon in Fredrickson honored the coupon at the correct price, no hustle or pressure. read more

Valvoline used to be my go-to location for oil changes. However, their business practices have become progressively worse by recommending service upgrades and not being upfront with the price. I came in for an oil change, and they checked the cabin air filter and said "This is the air you're breathing in" showing me the current air filter. He asked me if I wanted to replace it, and seeing how it was just a little paper air filter I assumed it was nothing. I was shocked at my end bill. They charged $50 for this little paper filter and didn't mention the price. I am done with VIOC and will just do my oil change myself or find another business that values their customer base's money. read more

Was most disapppointed after having had my last service at Valvoline in October of 2025. After just a little over a month of having had my oil changed, I notice my car engine making a funny sound. Knowing my car as I did, I knew something was wrong. After taking my car to a mechanic, we learned my car was nearly out of oil (no leak detected and yet it took 3 quarts of syntheic oil) and my engine was apparently burning through oil. It was determined the wrong oil was put in my car at my last oil change. It should have had OW - 20 high mileage syntheic oil. The mechanic was quite frustrated by what he found. Thankfully, he was able to service my car and ensured the correct oil was provided. I've not had another issue and thankfully, there was no permanent damage to my engine that we could find. That's not to say the could be an issue that has not yet been noticed. The time prior, their service team failed to fill my other fluids, or check my lights as they typically do. Additionally, I don't like not having the monitor screen to watch the service being done. I can't....I won't go back there now. I can't afford to have the car I've cared for very well over the years, not receive the proper products to keep it functioning. read more

I used to work for VIOC for a couple of years. So I'm well aware of the multipoint inspection.i came in last night at about 4:25pm This location didn't check all of my fluids. Didn't check my tires.didnt check my lights and did not help me reset my maintenance light. They were very nice but not the service I used to provide. And certainly not the service I've become accustomed to receiving.i understand I came in close to closing but that's no excuse. There are better locations. Bought a Groupon and sent my teenage daughter to get her oil changed. Found out that my wife had to go pay $33 extra dollars for the "extra" oil her car took along with some "fees" that weren't covered. They state the Groupon was good for up to five quarts but that 6.5 went in. I looked up the specs and the manufacturer says her car takes 5 quarts. Feeling ripped off. For the price they charge on a small 4-cyl commuter car you might as well take it to the dealer where a trained professional is working on your car. read more

Don't purchase anything with a warranty here. They won't uphold the warranty. I bought a battery a year and a half ago. The battery has died multiple times. It has a "THREE YEAR WARRANTY". When I brought it in the first time (after jumping my car and my dieselmechanic using the code reader as well) I was told it was reading healthy and to bring my battery back in a different vehicle without charging/jumping the battery, so I did just that today when my car wouldn't start. I was told I needed my car with the battery to uphold the warranty... so i asked if they would just test the battery to make sure it's the battery. They tested it and told me it is dead and not a healthy battery, but to bring it back in my car to get it switched out with the warranty.... so i went home, jumped my car and headed back to valvoline. I wait with my car running (charging the battery) and they get done with the customer ahead of me about 10 minutes after I arrived.. now my car has been running for a good 20-25 minutes since it was jumped... another tech decides to test the battery again and tells me it is reading healthy now.... I let him know ehat he is already fully aware of (the battery was tested by his colleague and failed and we were told to bring it in my car) he then says he will try calling his manager. He tells me he reached someone else in warranty and they said no giving me a new one... he supposedly tried his manager again, but again no luck. Why even have a warranty if you can't back it up? They tested it and it failed and they still wouldn't switch it out. Absolute scam and joke. Waste of time and money!! Terrible customer service. read more

When I finally got in the bay they told me they did not have synthetic oil which my warranty requires. I have been in before, they have a database of what vehicles require which oil. I am currently at the sumner store I waited over an hour in line and was told by Pedro the "manager" that he was the only manager here and that he wouldn't give me credit for having to go find my own filter at a parts store because it wasn't "certified". My son's been using Valvoline to change his oil. (2,500 miles since last change) Recently he mentioned his oil light comes on in sharp corners. I checked it out and found his car 3 quarts low. (of the 4 qts req'd) This is a car which never burns a drop of oil. Looking further, spark plugs look normal, no significant leaks aside from a tiny amount around the drain plug. A week later I opted to change his oil myself. I found the drain plug and oil filter extremely overtightened (They stripped the plug in his last car, but blamed the previous shop.) and no seal (plastic or bronze) between the plug & the pan. Best I can surmise, a.) Valvoline never put a full 4 quarts in the car or b.) Valvoline opted to overtighten the drain plug instead of installing a new seal. read more

I took my car in for an oil change and sat in the line for about an hour. My car got hot. Normal. Pulled into the bay and the guy there who was working on the cars took the cap off of my radiator while it was hot. Sprayed coolant all over my car and himself and the guy underneath. I asked if everything was ok to the other guy on the computer and he looked panicked. Scared to death like oh crap. The other guy, the idiot who took my cap off, starts laughing and says Aw it's ok. It happens all the time. I've been getting my oils changed for 20+ years and have NEVER had anyone dumb enough to take the cap off of a hot radiator. So no, it doesn't happen all the time. But he assured me my car was fine. He topped off my coolant. I paid. They sent me on my way. My work is one exit away on the freeway. Like 5 minutes. My temperature got up to 270-280 on that 5 minutes. I thought maybe the fluids just needed to settle or something so I let the car sit at my work till I was finished about 3 hours later. I got in started it and as soon as I got on the freeway back up to 280. So I went straight back to the shop where I spoke with the guy from the pit, Austin. He tried telling me that them taking off my cap had nothing to do with my car suddenly overheating and that it must be my coolant thermostat. Sorry there's nothing we can do for you. I'd get it in to a mechanic as soon as you can. So I drove all the way home. My car got to about 290 with the heat on high. I called Valvoline customer service and spoke with them to open a claim. They said that it has to go through the shop manager, who was out of town. So I waited until he got back into town. I had to get a rental car. After playing phone tag with them for about 3 days I finally got ahold of the manager. I had to call him. No one ever called me. He said he wanted me to drive the car there to the shop again and I wasn't comfortable with that since I had already drove it so far. I called a mechanic friend who said absolutely do not drive it. Have it towed and have a certified mechanic look at it. So I called Trevor back, the manager. He said he'd come look at the car at my house. Instead he sent another guy out at the wrong time. So my fiancé had to hurry home from work to meet the guy and the kid was not a certified mechanic. Was not Trevor. He wanted to again, drive the car. We absolutely refused. We told him he could inspect the vehicle in the presence of a certified mechanic and we'd be happy to tow it to the dealership. He refused and left. Long story short Trevor and Valvoline are now saying that I'm out the 1200$ repair and the 1000$ rental car for their idiot taking my radiator cap off because I wouldn't let their guy who wasn't a mechanic or the manager drive my car after being advised by an actual mechanic to not drive it. Oh and icing on the cake....this idiot doesn't even work there. Trevor admitted on the phone that this guy fills in when they need help. You have someone that dangerous and irresponsible working at your establishment and your not even going to take responsibility for their actions. He could've really hurt himself or the Austin, in the pit. Your corporate office really needs to evaluate the safety practices of that shop. read more

I pulled into line at 1305 , 2nd car back from the one on the bay. No greeting no contact with a tech. The car ahead pulled into bay at approx 1325, still nothing in the way of a contact or verbal acknowledgement. Two cars pulled in behind me a tech went out and spoke to them , both backed out and left . I stopped the tech and asked what was going on, his reply was " we're kind of backed up we're training a bunch of new people". And a walk off. I left and called the Corporate phone number. They listened and then connected me to the Asst Store Manager who also said that they were training a bunch of new people. There was little in the way of an apology or an offer of any type of apportionment ensuring I could get in for an oil change. A little of communication would go a long way and training new people isn't usually a good excuse for lack of service . I forgot to add that when I called the number on the website and pushed the option for "wait time" it said there is currently no wait time at this location. It's pretty apparent from other reviews that this branch could use some senior supervision, I hope that reviews like this will warrant the corporate office to send someone down to observe and then correct . read more

Bought a Groupon for $49.99 oil change, ended up paying $80 due to all the extra charges they tack on (group on only cover 5 quarts of oil) our VWBeetle took 6.3 quarts (that's an extra $15!), the oil filter is a special order, that's an extra $8.95, need I say more? I've been here a few times and I really enjoy the atmosphere. My last oil change required them to take out a very stripped drain plug, which saved me a lot of time and money. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They also do coolant flushes, which again saved me a lot of time doing it myself. So my mother and I pulled up to the shorter of two lines in two seperate vehicles to get our oil changed. We were in line for almost a half an hour befor the hispanic employee came out to tell us that we would have to back up and wait in the parking area of a seperate business and wait for room in the longer line due to the fact that the bay door was broken where we originally pulled up. I asked him why it took so long for him to come out and tell us and he couldnt answer the question. I then asked will you tell anyone that pulls in ahead of us to move he mumbled something that sounded like a yes. I then simply stated that he had poor customer service. He went back inside the building and eventually we got in the right line. About 20 minutes later the black employee came up to my window and said in a rude tone"look man the bay door is broken in that line so your stuck in this line otherwise you can leave. I immediatly take offense and say no I think Ill be getting my oil changed by you boy" he flared up and said fuck you we wont service you and then i said you service me all the time. We argue sharing obsenities until I can back up safely. In the mean time he goes up to my mothers window and starts the riot act with her. My mother is in her late 70s and they had very little idea that we were even together. But the just of the conversation was that she said fuck you ill never come here again and then she drove home while i drove to jiffy lube in bonny lake and got right into a bay and 10 minutes later my oil was changed.
