Even though some of their dishes are fancy, you don't really have to dress up. The server was prompt and very professional. We never had to wait for refills or for dirty plates to be taken away. We had 7 in our group and they had plenty of room to sit us next to the volleyball team. The menu had a large variety to choose from. We started off with appetizers. We had bacon and brussel sprouts and those were really good. The Pretzel with the cheese, crab cakes everything was delicious .- I totally forgot to take pictures before everyone dug in, So-only have three pictures from the middle of our meal. One person at our table, ordered the Cobb salad and there was plenty of blue cheese on it. It looked fresh and it was a huge portion. My husband got the walleye piccata, which looked really good. He finished it so it must've been tasty. I got the chicken marsala. The chicken was the right thickness, so there was enough of the marsala sauce for every bite. I had to take some home because we had appetizers before hand. We had crème Brulé, carrot, cake, and the peanut butter mousse cake, and everyone shared. The carrot cake was the best in my opinion. It was moist and I don't think they put raisins in theirs, becauseI didn't find any. I forgot to ask everybody else how the rest of the meal was but nobody complained.

Sam B's holds a special place in my heart. As someone who grew up in Bowling Green, it feels like…read moreit's been around forever, and while I know the ownership has changed over the years, the spirit is alive and well. The food is surprisingly dialed in, with high-quality ingredients and deep know-how in the kitchen. Surprising only because the atmosphere and service are a little rough around the edges. Things like chipped plates take a lot away from the otherwise expertly prepared food, and the urgent nature of the service detracts from a proper date night. That said, BG is a college town, and Main Street is the epicenter of drunkenness, so I imagine it would be difficult not to have things set up the way they are -- a place built for the pace of a college town, focused on high-quality but quick meals. And maybe I just need to come back in the summer, when the college kids are gone and the townies take over. But seriously, Sam B's is almost perfect. And somehow that actually does make it perfect, for what it is.

The decor is very Southern California head-shop meets Walk-In Psychic storefront. the two colors that SCREAM at you while you attempt to eat are ORANGE and PURPLE! The only thing the space seems to be missing is a blacklight Bob Marley poster and a display of hookah pipes. The food leaves a lot to be desired. A LOT Our server was Tristan and she was perfectly fine and pleasant, but her service couldn't make up for the lackluster food and trippy decorating style. There were also THREE TVS on near the bar each running a different channel. Is it state law in Ohio that every eating and drinking establishment is required to have a TV playing at all times broadcasting banal game shows and sports news? We started with the spicy corn dip and it seemed like it was a slurry of sour cream and bottled salsa, or maybe one of those Watkins powdered dips. Too heavy, too much dairy, very bland. The chips which came with were from a bag and lacked a decent crunch and were also bland. I got a turkey sandwich and was happy to see it was real turkey, but unfortunately, it tasted like it had spent too much time in the refrigerator. before being asked to sit on my sourdough bread. Which, by the way, didn't taste like sourdough at all, it seemed like your run of the mill Kroger brand white bread. Fries are the frozen kind with the shellac of salty coating on them, not freshly cut potatoes. Alas, BG is still without a great place for food. read more

INVITING AMBIANCE!!! YUMMY EATS!!!! GOOD TUNES!! I am in LOVE with Sunset Bistro. - Lovely and personable Staff - Magnetic Atmosphere - Addictive Dishes - Good bang for your buck $$$ *The charming staff accommodated our party of five with ease and quickness. EVERYTHING on the menu sounded delicious, so the knowledgeable waitress guided us in the right direction. *I could go ON and ON about the awesome dishes. We were literally eating off each others plates and sharing food. The recommended wine selection complemented the food and was flowing. *The menu was VERY reasonably priced, especially for the high quality ingredients. Some of which were locally sourced, I believe. ( I love local business supporting each other!!) I can totally see why some of the regulars have taken to eating there three or more times a week. It's delicious and affordable. *The charming atmosphere consisted of cozy decor, sunset color painted walls, and perfect lighting which allowed us to settle right in, and not want to leave!!! Looking very forward to my next visit. P.S. Big thank you to Prudy and Paralee. ( they were a treat!) read more
