Upon arrival front desk had a line of 10 people out in front of it with only one agent at 4:30 in the afternoon. The room itself Smelt, extremely musty and damp like the windows had never been opened the corners room with dingy with dirt and the utility sink of the room was dirty. The complementary breakfast was extremely sparse. No protein whatsoever except cold overcooked hard boiled eggs. Upon checking out, we tried to get a portfolio copy, and the manager wouldn'toblige us, then a verbally and physically assaulted me. This property accommodates and emphasizes their accommodations to transient construction workers, they are not interested in small time family travel. This experience will give us second thought about booking a Wyndham Microtel again.

The owners greeted us warmly and warmed up our cottage before we got there. The cottage is a very simple layout, full kitchen and ours was the Ruska which has 3 bedrooms. Even though we were there in December they did not have enough snow for cross country skiing or snow shoeing. It was a bummer but the owners let us rent our sleds and ice skates at no charge because of mother natures inability to cooperate during the holiday week. They also set up a nordic bowling game on the frozen lake which was fun. We were also able to take a hike on the snowshoe trail which also appealed to us. The negatives were that their food if you chose to eat at their little restaurant was terrible (bring your own food!) and that when you do cook you have to make sure to clean up after yourself (no house keeping) It was a nice get away with the hubby however I want our next winter escape to be a little more pampered.

The owners are TERRIBLE people who threatened us with lawyers for telling them that their business is poorly run. It is a motel that is run like an airbnb with a code you put in to get into your room. There is no staff on site. After emailing the owners about the dirty towels, dirty bedding, dirty pillows and possible MOLD they said that it hasn't been cleaned in "2 weeks" due to a family emergency in the hospital. It seems to me like if you can't clean your property then you should cancel and refund any existing reservations. People left their shampoo in the shower the last time someone was there and that wasn't removed further proving the place wasn't cleaned. The hand towel had something yellow all over it. The bedding had some type of red sauce (maybe blood?) stain all over it and was always damp due to the massive ac/heating unit that is too big for the room. We had to purchase our own toilet paper as there wasn't any and the remote to the tv had batteries that had exploded in it. We also purchased our own batteries so we could use the tv at night. The door facing the road was UNLOCKED. The owners are not locals and live in NJ and frankly do not care about this property as proven by the fact that they're trying to sell it (for 1.1 million dollars. For a potentially mold infested motel!)

While the room was rather dimly lit (as two of the four small lights in the room did not work) which I think added to the "moon" ambiance, what surprised me was the sheer magnitude of sun imagery in the room. That didn't quite make sense to me as there were more decorations relating to the sun than there were to the moon on the walls of our room. While I am a fan of all things astrological, it was merely confusing staying somewhere where the moon is allegedly the focal point. Pair that issue along with the Department of Health violation notice on the wall, which had us unsure of whether or not it was safe to drink the water, and the framed letter from Mitt Romney in the office talking about what a wonderful time it was to be a Republican, and you've got yourself a couple a slightly confused guests and a mere 3 rating. If only I could rate this Motel in number of moons, it would surely be lower as there was nowhere near as many as you'd expect at the Blue Moon Motel

The room was clean and fresh, not in the least musty like many motels can be. There is laundry service on site, as well as grills and picnic tables, boating options and firewood. We spent a pleasant afternoon sitting on the porch. The next morning the owners were there early with fresh coffee and homemade coffee cake still warm from the oven. A wonderful family run motel that makes you feel at home.
