Sunrun enjoying my roof.
LoveMyBabies S.

I inherited Sunrun from Vivint. Do you know what the difference is between a pig and a pig with lipstick? Nothing. Do you know what the difference is between Vivint & Sunrun? Nothing. Sunrun monitors my panels. Do you believe that? Me neither. I need a new roof. A roofing guy tells me I have a cracked panel. I call Sunrun to make an appt for the panels to be doffed & ask about the cracked panel. They apologize. Apologizing is free. I get a new roof. Awhile later, the panels go back on. I have no idea what I paid these Sunrun peeps to sit on my $8.900 roof but I'm not happy. Installation is complete, they leave & guess what? they leave the broken panel behind. I call a few times and I'm told that the panel was picked up between '8 and 9 PM' the same night. So I guess I'm hallucinating the presence of a panel in my yard, a locked gate, a blank security camera tape and 3 dogs that didn't bark. Did I also mention that their monitoring didn't reveal that my panels aren't working? They apologize. Apologizing is free. A mystery person will call me: their phone # is confidential as is their area code and time zone. Top secret crap going on here. Their supervisor hasn't called me yet, my panels still aren't working and I'm still hallucinating the presence of a panel in my yard that I was told for the umpteenth time does not really exist.

These suckers are 300lbs each.

I was so thankful I caught the first company's voicemail. That lead me to Christina, who offered to come out same day and saved me $750 in service costs for an inexpensive part. She fixed the issue very quickly and exceeded expectations taking the extra time to make sure I had confidence in the system and protective measures in place. I was delighted to find out she was the owner, because it was clear she takes personal pride in the work and truly cares about her customers. That kind of responsiveness, knowledge, and genuine customer service gave me something I hadn't found in a while: peace of mind! I'm incredibly grateful to find a service provider I can count on.

SO GOOD I offered to buy the company! I know great service and great products and great business…read moremodels when I see it. I talked to both owners, Christina and Jared, because they both came to my house at different times during the installation, and I'm an inquisitive and demanding customer (Warren Buffet was my neighbor back in Omaha) ... you make me happy, you're the best at what you do! I even offered to buy a percentage of the company, but they turned me down saying, "This is our life's work. We love what we do." They killed the competition. SunPro/ADT ($45k) was almost 50% higher than the price of Bay Area Solar ($31,776). A third less memorable competitor was 20% more and far less professional and friendly. Installation was fast and professional. I've been researching solar panels for 30 years so I knew what I was getting, and I got the best bang for the buck. No money down, $8261 Federal Tax Credit, $160 a month for 20 years, written guarantee that all my panels will produce 95% of what they produce the first day of installation, or Bay Area Solar will replace them for free. My bill with Duke has consistently been the minimum $35.96, with a few winter months around $60 due to more cloudy days and angle of the sun. My neighborhood was built in 1978, and my neighbors consistently pay $300, $400, and sometimes $500 a month. Other than buying my Toyota Prius, I've never been more happy with a product in my life.Other than buying my Toyota Prius, I've never been more happy with a product in my life. Loving my new solar pool heater…read more Everything went super smooth from the sales process to the installation. After doing some research I found out that there are really two major solar pool heating companies in the area. I scheduled to get estimates from both of them. Jim, from Solar Source, showed up wearing a mask. I thought that every responsible adult would show up wearing one, but that's not the case as I'll write about later. Jim was great. He gave me all the information, including that they have a 10 year warranty that includes all parts and labor. He told me that they are the only ones who do this, so it will cost nothing if anything ever breaks. After the 10 years, it is 50% covered, so I'm still getting a deal then. He showed me an example of the solar panel. The one they have drills fewer holes into your roof. Jim also showed me the device that allows you to set your pool to whatever temperature you want. Since I was doing all of this in September, they had a deal where you get one panel for free, which saved me about $500. In the end my total was a little over $4,500 (which surprisingly is on par with electric heaters, which I thought would be less). In comparison, the other solar rep showed up not wearing a mask. He told me that their warranty also includes parts and labor, but when I called back later, I found out you still have to pay a certain amount every time someone comes out (so it's not completely free). The other rep also didn't listen to me and ended up quoting me an electric pump, whereas I wanted solar. You really realize how great one company is when you have another one for comparison! After signing with Solar Source they set up a time to come by and survey the house and another time after that for the installation. Everyone I dealt with was awesome. They have people dedicated just to calling and scheduling these appointments and I found everyone showed up exactly when they said they would (which is not always the case with contractors). The guys who did the installation were super friendly. When they came down to show me how to set the temperature, they put on masks. Again, I've come to really appreciate people who do this, since I've found it is not the norm. It started raining the day they did the installation so they said they'd come back the next day to finish...and they did! I've had a lot of stuff done to the house during this pandemic and I can tell you that a majority of people who say they will be back at a certain time, do not come back. They didn't charge me until all the work was done. Now it's October and our pool is a toasty 90 degrees (at my husband's request). I'm already patting myself on the back for making this purchase.

Unfortunately that company went out of business and thankfully referred me to Solar Source. I have been extremely happy with my new relationship with Solar Source. They first inspected my existing solar system, determined my needed repairs after damage from Hurricane Milton, and gave me a quote. I was very happy with the subsequent repair work that Solar Source performed. They adjusted my estimate to properly reflect the actual repairs performed, and they did excellent work. I am very pleased to have Solar Source in my corner going forward for ongoing solar rooftop PV array maintenance as needed. It's a huge relief to me to find another solar company that I can trust and rely upon for their much needed expertise. I highly recommend Solar Source as a trustworthy solar provider. They came to my recue when I really needed them, delivered top notch service, and I am very glad to have found such a reputable company. !!!

After the new roof was put on we had a leak in the master bedroom closet and the guest room closet . The roofers removed the siding a little while doing the roof and did not nail it back on The Gables . When I told them about this they insisted it was not their fault but they could put new siding under where we have siding for $1,700 . They claim it is not them and they are not responsible . I had a roofing company come and check out what was going on and they told us the roofers from advantage Roofing did not nail back the siding allowing water to seep in at both Gables . I would not recommend them . We use them because we have solar panels on the roof and they had to put those back after the new roof was put on . I believe if you are in business you would try everything to keep your customers and get good reviews but this was not the case with them .

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! Solar Advantage does not even deserve a fraction of a star. All they care…read moreabout is getting new customers, who are not aware of this company's bad reputation, poor workmanship and lack of regard for existing customers . I had solar panels installed through this company in 2019, I am lucky if I had 6 months smooth service. A nightmare cannot adequately describe my experience with this company so far. AND THE NIGHTMARE CONTINUES!!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!! For the past two years, (atleast) everytime I contact the company about a problem with my system, I keep hearing that they are only catering to newer clients and I am out of my two year free labor warranty. Not sure who told them I wanted free labor. There is also the excuse that the company is experiencing labor shortage. Trying to figure whose fault is it that they cant keep employees? As if to appease the situation they gave me the contact information for this partner they claim to have, who does not return emails. Why am I not surprised Funny enough the first review I wrote the owner contacted me and fixed the issue I was having. He asked me to either remove the negative review or update the review to reflect a positive outlook. I updated the review. After updating the review it didnt take long for the system to malfunction again. One of my inverters has not been working since 2021. As far as I am concerned the panels on my house serve as decoration because I am not benefitting from these panels. My light bill is still high. BE WARNED!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL REGRET IT!!
