It has now been 7 months since my first review so I figured it was time for an update. This company an the owner are theives. They have been paid for a product that we dont have 11 months later. One day it was at customs and Ross was on his way to pick it up. That never happened. One month it was being certified and a month later we were told the same song and dance, it's being sent for certification. At this point due to the dollar amount paid for a product not received, the $$ needs to be returned or this turns into a theft case. We've asked for communication regarding the status from Ross who did agree but has yet to provide a status without being prompt and then he chooses when wants to reply. I'm extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the with the customer service I've had to deal with since signing my solar contract with Solar Tech Elec LLC. From empty promises, missed deadlines, to now ducking my calls and text messages. My rebate check was and is still lost in the mail. When I received the replacement sent through zelle it was short from what was agreed upon. My solar has now been installed now for going on 4months, with the new meter from my local electric company just being recently installed, no fault of Solar Tech elec LLC. However, the electric company did say the solar company not sending documents caused some of the 3month delay. As of today December 4th I'm still waiting on my battery bank which was only 6 weeks out from my solar installation day back in August. Do the math on that one I've now made my 3rd solar payment on equipment I don't have in my possession in addition to paying my high local electric company bills. Between the two I'm now paying over $600 a month for eletric when I specifically asked if this would happen and was promised that would not happen, the Solar payments would be taken care of until I was 100% setup. Since installation day my calls have been forwarded to voice mail, along with my voice mail and text message requests to return my calls still yet to be answered. When my partner was finally able to get a hold of someone, Jesse requested the solar bills be sent, which they were that day.....crickets every since. My savings continues to be depleted during a time when at any minute I may not have a job to return to. Very poor sales representative, shame on you for making promises you had no intention of keeping. I read through the companies replies to reviews found on other sites, the customers with larger systems as mine seemed to have had similar issues as me. Solar Tech LLCs replies were saying how busy they were and that's great, I love a company that is busy, but being busy is no excuse for poor customer service with empty promises. Don't they have office personal??? OH wait they do and they are just as bad in the customer service department....remember I'm still waiting for the "lost" check. And for their leadership to not take any responsibility in the people they hire tells me they're both crooks with no care to ensure their customers are taken care of as promised. Ross straight up said all promises Jesse made were between Jessie and I. Very poor customer service all the way from the top to the bottom. The correct thing should have been that he would talk with Jesse and have him address it directly with me. Again poor customer service. I wish I would have went with another solar company, but Jesse seemed to be the most genuine. Now I understand he was being a genuine sales person. In addition to the shitty customer service I've had, I've now experienced multiple power outages during the day since the official switch over to solar....one would think the power should NEVER go out during the day when using solar. Maybe it's due to my missing battery bank????? And where is the monitoring that's supposed to be going on. I would have excepted a phone call that there is/was an issue and possibly what caused it or that the cause is being researched. I didn't hear from anyone....I guess the shitty customer service trickles all the way down the chain at Solar Tech Elec LLC. Solar works great just wish we could enjoy the full benefits of what we paid for. read more

Ross, I am saddened to say this, We have had delay after delay and promise after promise from the beginning. 1. June 26th signed contract with your company 2. June 28th you accepted an 8k payment from me. 3. July 5th still no instal date. stating you would be going to building dept the 7th 4. July 10th no word 5. July 11th no word 6. Finally July 13th we have permits. Stated that you were 13 days out from installation. (acceptable) yet you agree to start before my vacation on July 27th 7. July 27th Delayed installation to Aug 7th confirmed you would make that work. 8. parts start arriving Aug 8th. the day after instal. 9 The project does not start until August 23th 30 days late after multiple delays on parts. 10. Aug 28th failed inspection 11. scheduled inspection was on Aug 31 and still, no work was done to fix issues with inspection 12.Sept 1st failed inspection again 13. Sept 6th engineer suppose to be getting paperwork 14. Sepy 27th engineer still no paperwork 15.oct 2nd engineer still no paperwork 16. Oct 4th FAILED INSPECTION mentioned concern about production. 17. Oct 11th Engineer still no paperwork. 18. Oct 16th still not producing and you agree it should be doing much more. 19. Oct 23rd scheduled inspection 20. oct 24th actual inspection and PASSED 2 months after the first inspection. Still no net meter 21. Nov 8th net meter installed. 22. I take responsibility for a delay for answers on replacement of the roof. 1-month nov 8th to Dec 6th I said you can proceed anytime with the fix of the system. 23. Dec11 you ask if I'm home to come and redo the bracket I was not home yet you did not have any parts to do it anyway. 24. dec 16th "parts coming in" 25. Dec 22th you say "Brackets are in" 26. dec 29th brackets will be in on Jan 4th. will start the project that day (weird, thought they were in on the 22nd of Dec) 27. Jan 4th no call no show 28. Jan 5ht reschedule for Jan 11th. 29. Jan 10th delay to Jan 13th. 30. Jan 13th no call no show You have had a signed contract and payments from me since JUNE 26th. Here we are Jan 15th 7 months later. I have paid thousands in electricity bills since I was told this would cover all of my electricity. I have had so many delays and promises and inconveniences to my schedule that is very frustrating. I have been nothing but accommodating to your delays. I even go to your Facebook posts and make positive comments despite not being satisfied up to this point. Now a year later my Roof is leaking in multiple areas. And after multiple attempts to communicate with you, you have stopped responding to me and have refused to share your insurance info with me. So after all of this, I still have a $400 electric bill and now my roof is leaking and mold is growing all over my home. And I can't get any insurance info. and I have 6 kids. read more

I hired SolarTechElec to install a 36.4 KW residential solar project. I had met with several other companies who only wanted to lease me a system. SolarTechElec (Ross) presented a straightforward Buy option for me. It was exactly as represented. Being on the Florida coast, I was extremely concerned about my homeowners insurance and any impact the system would have on my premium as well as on my roof itself. I attempted to reach out to my insurance company for assurance, but they remained silent to all my requests. I went ahead and decided to go forward with the project anyway. The contract and installation process went very smoothly. The people that installed the system were professional, they cleaned up after themselves, and overall provided a nice experience to the installation process. Then SolarTechElec encountered hurdles with the electric provider (Duke). The electric provider required higher general liability insurance on the home (unbeknownst to SolarTechElec) due to the size of the system and there was a disagreement on some of the system specifications. SolarTechElec persevered and assisted with the newly discovered higher insurance requirement and satisfied the electrical provider and the system is now operational. In one month of operation, I have already witnessed an extremely accurately predicted savings on my electric bill. I am overall very pleased with the product and the service. While they encountered some unexpected issues from the electric provider, they did the right thing, and stepped to the plate, and took care of what was necessary to keep their customer happy and deliver their product. Agree with the first review, the owner Ross does know this business but overall my experience was not great. I also was part of the St. Petersburg Winter Co-op group which selected Solar Tech as the installer. Permitting, installation process went fine with my 8.4Kw system. First inspection from County found a couple of minor things which were corrected. There was little/no explanation of how to read my inverter and I had to call the inverter manufacturer to get this information. After installation, I refinanced my home equity LOC and BAC required a release of the Notice of Commencement. Bank said typically the contractor handles this, however Solar Tech apparently had no clue and was unable to assist. I was told they would get help from the panel manufacturer. That was months ago and never heard a work back so I ended up filing the paperwork with County myself to get the refinancing completed after Solar Tech completely dropped the ball on this. System has now been live for 7 months (July - Jan). The system is supposed to provide 101% of my electrical needs and payback in a little over 5 years. To date, it has not come close. My current Duke bills are certainly lower but are still running about 1/3 of prior years which means the breakeven point for my $18.5k investment is not going to be much longer than Ross' estimate. Bottom line, decent work, poor communication/follow-up and appears the system was either too small or benefits were oversold. read more

After a truly awful experience with Sunrun (who took over my original solar provider, Vivint), I was hesitant to trust any solar company again. But my roof replacement forced my hand, and I needed to get my panels reinstalled. Enter Solar Tech Elec - they were an absolute lifesaver! Back in 2021, they handled the de-installation of my 39 panels with incredible efficiency and professionalism, all at a very reasonable cost. Then, life got in the way, and I had to delay the reinstallation for almost two years. I was so worried they wouldn't honor our original agreement after all that time. To my relief, Ross (the CEO) was incredibly understanding and accommodating. His team was back on my roof less than a week after the holidays, and they were fantastic! They were communicative throughout the entire process, arrived promptly, worked incredibly fast (the whole installation took under 4 hours!), and the quality of their work was impeccable. Fantastic experience! Where do I start? I can't say enough in regards to all of the positive reasons I chose to do business with Ross and Solar Tech Elec. Excellent experience all the way around. I spoke to many different companies regarding what they had to offer from not only the panels they were selling, but even all the way down to what kind of flashing, optimizers and inverters they were using along with what finance options they offered. Ross was not only accommodating, bit also very knowledgeable and straight forward without cutting any corners in his answers. He listened to my questions and answered them effectively and even invited me to his office and showed me the products he would use during install! Of all the companies I spoke to he was the first person to invite me to visit his facility to see the way he does things...the right way. The cherry on top was his pricing. The Solar Tech Elec LLC to finished our 11,470 Watt solar system installation in just two days, and on the 3rd day they passed the final inspection. The same day when the inspection was passed Solar Tech Elec applied to Duke Energy on our behalf for a meter swap. It may take sometime for Duke to review before they can do the swap. We highly recommend using this company because they did a professional installation at the time when they scheduled it and completed it in timely fashion and passed the final inspection the next day. The communication either with Ross, the owner, or Celeste, the office manager, was friendly, supportive and prompt. We were able to electronically sign the contract and they did the installation and passed inspection even we weren't at home at that time. And we had to pay only when the final inspection was passed. Not only that Solar Tech Elec did a great job, but the price per watt was better than from any other solar company. After noticing increasing electricity bill I called Solar Tech Elec as my neighbor is happily satisfied with them for over 3 years and he recommended the company. Mr. Ross Dyson was very nice to work with from the first visit.He evaluated my needs and explained the system as well as the installation process. He designed a system at an affordable price and stated working on it right away. They designed the system as well as got the necessary permit and installed the system in one day as soon as the permit was available. The system is nice and there are no wires or tubes running on the roof and it did not affect the appearance of the house. The meter swap was also coordinated by them and done smoothly. I was kept informed of the progress at all stages as majority ok of work except installation was done while I was away. I did not any significant time in calling the Utility or the City office as this was all done by Solar Tech Elec. I had a very good experience and if anyone is planning Solar system I strongly recommend they call Solar Tech Elec. read more

I would just love to say that after Interviewing 5 Other Solar companies in the area to eliminate our power bill with Duke I could not recommend how easy the entire process was with Solar Tech Elec. Ross the CEO managed to quote us virtually after providing him with a copy of our last 12 months power bill which has now made us achieve a $0 Electric bill from Duke Energy with a fixed payment 30% less than our original bill. We also got a 26% tax credit using all American Products! Celeste in the office updated us along each step and we literally had the panels on the roof within 4 Weeks from order and meter swapped within a week. I love watching the app on my phone for per panel monitoring and my meter spinning backwards. Huge high five to the professional crew who did the install in the Intense heat with no complaints. Wow, what can I say. Before talking to Ross I had a few bids on EnergySage that I thought were really good. It was coming up on the end of the year and I knew it was somewhat of a time crunch to get everything finished, this was before the Gov extended the federal tax rebate. He blew away the competition. He installed top of the line LG 340w all-black panels, for the price of his competitors offering chinese panels. I expected when his crew showed up to be less than desirable workers because of the deal I got. Chris and his installation crew were professionals. Answered all of my nerd questions with a high level of tolerance and confidence. I had a good feeling about their knowledge level and competence. It took the county quite a while to close out the inspection and the electric company to approve net metering due to covid. I couldn't be happier, my last electric bill was $0. I love that SolarTechElec monitors wattage output and will replace panels that aren't providing appropriate power. read more

Definitely use Solar Tech Elec for all your home Solar panel needs. Ross Dyson and Celeste and just about the nicest people. The solar panel price point is way less than every one else. What I liked most was how transparent Ross was with me during the qualifying process. I asked many many questions and Ross was always gracious enough to answer them honestly and throughly. I can't say enough about them. I gave them the highest possible ratings. If there is one thing I would like to be approved upon in the future was how long the whole process takes. So be prepared to pack your patience. A lot of these things are beyond their control, (like building permits etc.) and they are really good about following up with you to give you updates on the process. I lost a solar panel during hurricane Helene and needed a reliable company to replace the panel and check my system. My original solar company was no longer providing maintenance or support to my solar edge system. I spoke to Ross and he described the maintenance program they offer at 3 different levels( I bought the platinum program). The technician came out within a week. He was very professional and did a good job cleaning and assessing my system. He found some roof damage that occurred when the panel was torn off. I would have never known about the damage (my panels are on the 3 rd story of my house). They replaced the lost panel and transferred the monitoring and warranties of my system to them. I am extremely happy with their service, professionalism and support of my system. If you are in the market for solar panel maintenance I suggest you give them a try. read more

We researched panels from numerous manufactures and selected Sill Fab 370s due to their performance specifications and Solar TechElec for their extended warranty provided as our installer. SolarTecElec installed 31 panels, Sil Fab 370' HCs, and 31 Emphase IQ8PLUS-72-2-US 240volt micro inverters. Paired together these will allow day light power operation during power outages with a smaller battery support power supply. Solar TechElec installed a system that is a Tier 1 residential solar array, rated at 11.47 kW DC, and produced 16600.20 watts in our first year of operation. Our bill from Duke Electric was never more than their minimum monthly charge and we will be receiving a credit for the extra 1436 watts produced (about one month usage) and delivered to the grid. SolarTech Elec wasn't the cheapest, but after getting quotes from about a dozen companies, I was convinced they had the best combination of price, product, and service. The initial panels that were to be used were not in stock, so Ross, the owner, agreed to substitute a higher quality panel for the same cost. The installation took about a month longer than expect, due to city permitting and some problems with SolarTech Elec getting some paperwork done. The installation team was top notch. Chris the foreman was great; he explained everything to me and answered all of my questions . My previous energy bills were $500+ and $400+. My last two bills were $28.28 each. I expect to break even in about 7 years. Overall, I would recommend (and have) SolarTech Elec. read more

Solar Tech Elec was a pleasure to work with. Ross came out and met with me, went over all the details of the job and timeline and helped set up the financing which was great. It's been 5 months since the instal was operational. The system is producing as advertised. We no longer pay an electric bill beyond the minimal $26 base charge for connection. Are bills were averaging around $650-800 a month prior to installation. We also are producing sufficient surplus to ensure we will be able to offset any cloudy weeks. The system looks great and we feel great about knowing we are now not only using only clean energy but helping to supply some to the system as well. Would recommend them to anyone. We got a pretty large system installed by Solar Tech Elec a few months ago. Overall, we are very happy with the system. It's now producing what was promised and last month the system produced more than we used so I'll be interested to see how it plays out throughout the entire year. We dealt with a failed inspection and leak, but Ross sent someone out immediately to fix both! Ross made it right when we had issues and that's what you want in a company. We were nervous about going solar since it's a big $ decision for a family, but I'm glad we did. Every year that passes I will save more and more as E-bills grow. I'll be saving money now, but this was a long term play and will be saving a LOT of money in 10 years when energy bills are even higher read more
