I have found Solar Source to be an excellent company for my solar rooftop array. My solar array was installed quite a few years ago by another company which I thought was great. Unfortunately that company went out of business and thankfully referred me to Solar Source. I have been extremely happy with my new relationship with Solar Source. They first inspected my existing solar system, determined my needed repairs after damage from Hurricane Milton, and gave me a quote. I was very happy with the subsequent repair work that Solar Source performed. They adjusted my estimate to properly reflect the actual repairs performed, and they did excellent work. I am very pleased to have Solar Source in my corner going forward for ongoing solar rooftop PV array maintenance as needed. Be careful signing a contract with these guys? the salesman sold me on the fact the company would come out and remove and reinstall the rooftop system for a roof replacement one time for $800 when the roof needed to be replaced down the road. 5 years later a called them and wanted to schedule removing panels so we could install the new roof. Low and behold the wording was not in the contract and they wanted 12k. So make sure this is in writing with these folks!!!!!! read more

I was having a new roof installed and needed my existing pool water solar panels replaced. I got a quote that was pretty pricey but I was told this was a good company. After the installation of the new panels I discovered Solar Source had failed to recommend or install the proper valves in my updated panel system. Now the company wants more money to complete the update/install correctly. I will find a reputable plumber to help me with the valve installation. I am the customer, not the technician, Solar Source should have informed me what was needed to update my old system, not try and piece it together afterwards. read more

Well, a problem identified remotely and solution arranged quickly. On my original installed panels I noticed the other day that four of the panels were showing 0 Mh. I took a screen shot in the morning and then again in the afternoon and then I emailed Mr. John Zimmer at Solar Source. After looking at the data Mr. Zimmer identified the issue and asked if this coming Monday would be okay for one of his maintenance technicians to come out and replace the optimizer on the four panels. All of this accomplished by email quickly and professionally. Loving my new solar pool heater. Everything went super smooth from the sales process to the installation. After doing some research I found out that there are really two major solar pool heating companies in the area. I scheduled to get estimates from both of them. Jim, from Solar Source, showed up wearing a mask. I thought that every responsible adult would show up wearing one, but that's not the case as I'll write about later. Jim was great. He gave me all the information, including that they have a 10 year warranty that includes all parts and labor. He told me that they are the only ones who do this, so it will cost nothing if anything ever breaks. After the 10 years, it is 50% covered, so I'm still getting a deal then. He showed me an example of the solar panel. The one they have drills fewer holes into your roof. Jim also showed me the device that allows you to set your pool to whatever temperature you want. Since I was doing all of this in September, they had a deal where you get one panel for free, which saved me about $500. In the end my total was a little over $4,500 (which surprisingly is on par with electric heaters, which I thought would be less). In comparison, the other solar rep showed up not wearing a mask. He told me that their warranty also includes parts and labor, but when I called back later, I found out you still have to pay a certain amount every time someone comes out (so it's not completely free). The other rep also didn't listen to me and ended up quoting me an electric pump, whereas I wanted solar. You really realize how great one company is when you have another one for comparison! After signing with Solar Source they set up a time to come by and survey the house and another time after that for the installation. Everyone I dealt with was awesome. They have people dedicated just to calling and scheduling these appointments and I found everyone showed up exactly when they said they would (which is not always the case with contractors). The guys who did the installation were super friendly. When they came down to show me how to set the temperature, they put on masks. Again, I've come to really appreciate people who do this, since I've found it is not the norm. It started raining the day they did the installation so they said they'd come back the next day to finish...and they did! I've had a lot of stuff done to the house during this pandemic and I can tell you that a majority of people who say they will be back at a certain time, do not come back. They didn't charge me until all the work was done. Now it's October and our pool is a toasty 90 degrees (at my husband's request). My consultant, David Spanier, is knowledgable and responsive. The communication from start to finish - and even a year later - has been exemplary. The installation was flawless. The crew was on time and finished exactly when they said they would. There was no mess left behind and there have been no problems at all so far. The system itself is great. Absolutely terrible customer service, don't return phone calls, schedule appointments and don't show, and you have to call and call and call - with fingers crossed. I used Solar Source to install panels for my pool four years ago. That experience was pretty decent. I haven't had any issues with the product. I needed to have my tile roof replaced. The roofing company had somebody they use for this purpose, but I went back to Solar Source to take the panels down and put them back up. Solar Source was $400 more, but I wanted to make sure any warranties wouldn't be invalidated. I found out a this time that they had installed different panels than were listed on my contract at the initial install. There were supposed to be 7 of a certain size but they had instead installed 8 smaller ones. I was not notified of this change at the time and I don't really know what the cost difference should have been or the difference in heating output or why this change was even made in the first place. The cost for panel removal and replacement is based on the quantity and not the size. They adjusted their quote for the panel move to match the contract, which seemed very fair to me. From there the experience was very different as they definitely don't prioritize customers with panel moves as opposed to their install jobs. They only do panel moves on Fridays and its a minimum of two weeks out. For taking the panels down for the roof install, it was two weeks. When the roof was complete, it was over three weeks from the time I called to get it scheduled, which took two phone calls. They showed up at 8 am on that morning. It started raining so they had to quit. It rained for 20 minutes and then was a bright sunny day. They didn't come back. I called the office that same day to reschedule. They said they'd call me to reschedule. Two days into the following week, I had to call again. At that point it was another two weeks out because other customers were scheduled in front of me. I was unhappy due to not being able to put my car in my garage (holding solar panels for months) and not being able to use my pool for Memorial Day guests. I felt they should figure out how to work it into their schedule since they abandoned the job and didn't return the day it rained for 20 minutes. Not that I don't understand they can't work on the roof in the rain, but they could have come back. The lady on the phone offered an additional discount, but that was not provided at billing time. When I reached out, they responded that they felt that discount they gave me up front for the variance in the product they installed vs what they contracted four years ago was sufficient for their bad service this time. My advice to anyone looking at this company is to make sure they deliver the product they write in your contract and also don't use them if you need your panels moved for a roofing install. read more

What a great company. I couldn't ask for anything better from the salesman to the installation to the warranty. Everything went smoothly. Bo and James the installers were great. In under 4 hours they had our system installed and pumping hot water into our pool. They explained everything to us. Hopefully we will be able to add 2 months of swimming at both ends of the year so we will be able to swim 9-10 months. I don't give out 5 stars very often and when I do they are really deserved. Do not have one bad thing to say about them. read more

Solar source is very professional and easy to work with. We had a very large install that took a few days. Everything went smoothly and passed inspection just after completion. After the install, Duke Energy was completely non-responsive regarding the installation of our net meter. Solar Source went to bat for us, and hounded them for over a month. This was after they were paid in full. The bottom line is Solar Source cares about their customers and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend Solar Source to anyone. read more

Solar source installed a solar system so we could reduce our electric bill. They were prompt and professional and installation went great. Communication was stellar from start to finish.They took care of contacting Duke for their part of the install and Duke Energy was out and installed new meter within a week of install, overall extremely happy. We have been watching our meter readings and so far Duke owes us, I know when it rains it will drain that credit but if my electric bill ends up being $11 monthly like my neighbors (who also has solar) instead of the almost $400 I pay in the summer I will be more than thrilled. He also strives to be the best in customer service to help solve any issues that you may have all throughout the installation process to the startup of your system. Before having them install the solar system, my roof (shingles) had to be replaced. When the roofing work was completed the Solar Crew installed my system consisting of 27 solar panels, inverter and all the electrical devices in one day! I had 6 estimates from different companies and I choose Solar Source. AAA Solar Source Solar Source Provided false information and projections/illustrations about their product that promised to eliminate my electric bill. Switched equipment to lesser capacity during install. Seminole, FloridaSolar Source sold me a $40,000 solar system based upon illustrations and written and verbal information that stated that their solar system would reduce my electric bill to zero. The system has reduced my bills by about half leaving me with an expensive system that does not perform as promised. Phone calls to their office have provided no resolution or offers to make the system perform as promised. read more

I purchased a solar water heater and attic fans. I was told the solar water heater would be heating my water and my old water heater would be used as a holding tank. When the heating element went out on my old heater I had zero hot water until I got the unit repaired. I called repeatedly and the person I needed to talk to was never available. I kept leaving messages but no one would return my call. About a year later I received a sales call from them trying to sell me something else. I said absolutely not and explained why. The person said he would look into it and get back to me. He never did. read more
