Signed up with our rep Dan back in July. Our goal was to be completely off grid since our house is all electric except for pool heater which is propane. We end up getting 47 panels, added 4 Tesla power walls to run our entire house. Since it was a huge job, install was scheduled about 1.5 month out. Between current back logs, supply chain issues and permit approvals 9/10 install was pushed to 11/3. Install day came, there was a 15 men crew maybe more that started only to find out brackets were not the right length. We have concrete tiles which is significantly thicker so they packed up and left. Matt our install manager and Dan ordered the right brackets but kept us on the loop while we waited. 12/6 was IT! Install was smooth sailing, the guys were quick, working about 6-7 hours for 3 days. We were back and forth on the location of the power walls. We had to split 2 and 2 on either side of the window due to need of 10" clearance around the unit. Fully charged the batteries on the first day. Have been running 100% on solar on sunny days. Once approved, inspection completed per county the net meter was installed a few days after. We were able to switch on system via Tesla app. So stoked we are sun powered. At the height of summer our utility bill was 375/month. We have 2 fridges, a massive freezer, induction cooktop, electric oven and 3 kids and their gadgets. Hubby also running the house very cold day and night made our bill very HIGH. Now the sun powers everything, generating 11.5 kWh with potential peak up to 15 kWh in the summer. It charges the EV and batteries which powers the house while we sleep. We also sold excess power to FPL. So I'm a happy camper. Despite delays and issues such as broken tiles, electrical line nipped etc... we really can't complain. Our Sunrun team has been very responsive and quick to resolve problems. Dan has responded to our questions even when he was at the hospital on an emergency. That's top notch costumer service right there. This project was huge, we know things were bound to happen. Dan always kept us in the loop so we didn't really worry about anything. Every time something went wrong it was addressed quickly. Yes it took longer to finally have the system in place but it's up and running and we are loving the benefits. We were approached by a Sunrun representative at Lowes. I booked the appointment because we had been thinking about solar but more so because I know these reps need to meet a quota. She said it was an amazing deal, if we did it now we would still get the tax credits, a free battery backup and a free Vivint security system. Anyway, the salesman came to give us his presentation which starts with them showing you a video of the CEO on CNBC. She seemed sincere and the salesman said he met her once. So we go thru the whole show and it starts to sound too good to be true. No money upfront, they do this and that just like everyone on here has already said. I asked him about the tax credits. No tax credit. I asked him about the free battery. No free battery. I asked about the Vivint system and he said 'oh yeah I can do that for you'. But he wasn't going to tell us about it until I asked. I asked about buying the system outright instead of the 'lease' and he gave us his opinion that it wasn't worth it. I asked about paying the lease ahead of time and he had no answer for that. All red flags. Then they sent over a 'soft credit check' for my husband to sign. He starts reading it. It sounded like a strangely worded release of liability. We started to question what the heck was going on and then he conferenced in a supervisor who tried to explain it. The supervisor had to call someone else because he didn't know! They attempted to explain that it was a release of liability for their portal. Which didn't make any sense. That's when I picked up the phone and started looking here. Our credit check was fine but I immediately said, 'don't sign anything else'. The salesman started to freak out. Telling me that people only write bad reviews and how many satisfied customers they had. I showed him some of the reviews. He tried defending it but I was already done. He kept saying 'you were so happy until you read the reviews' and good thing I did!! I am so sorry for everyone whose been harmed by this solar 'timeshare' scam! After a bad experience with a sales rep back in 2019, we swore we'd never deal with Sunrun again. But even the worst memories fade over time, and when a neighbor raved about the Sunrun battery backup system he'd just installed, we decided to give them another chance. That turned out to be a huge mistake and a complete waste of time. Within minutes of arriving, the sales rep informed us that we needed two batteries and nine solar panels. I pointed out that this was exactly what he'd recommended to our neighbor and asked how he came up with nine. His only explanation: "The more, the better." We already have twenty-four panels on our roof, with very little room left, and the roof itself is nearing the end of its life. The last thing we want is to add more panels only to pay to have them removed later for the installation of the new roof. We made it clear we only wanted batteries, but the rep insisted, without explanation, that PG&E required additional panels. That was just the beginning. He made several other strange claims, while he ignored our questions and concerns. We eventually decided to go with another company, which confirmed there was no such PG&E requirement. An a weird bank information was also used to set up autopay without my authorization. When I raised these concerns, Sunrun told me they found "no fraudulent activity." System Performance: The system has not met my energy needs. We thought that because Costco was endorsing them in store that this would be the way to go, but boy were we wrong. Using Sunrun is a big mistake. Our system has been down over a month every year we've had it. It takes them over a month to get a tech out to try and fix it, so they have cost us lots of money waiting for a repair while the system is down. In June it went out and after about 10 days wait they serviced it for $600. claimed that the optimizers were inop.technican told me they were installed incorrectly. it went out in August but didn't have to pay service call as the June call had a 60 day warranty. in August , I was informed they could not get out until October8 to service my system. after many calls to complain they came out after 7 days. In 2015, I paid for a lease of 66 panels to be installed on my roof by SUNRUN in Hawaii. We had a contract that SUNRUN would provide 25,661 KWH per year for 20 years, which has never been met to this date. In December 2024, SUNRUN replaced the solar panels they had installed because they were faulty (had cracks). It also appears that the inverters were insufficient to support the newly installed solar panels. In February 2025 my newly installed solar panels were taken off my roof without my permission. My wife and I were on vacation when this happened. I later discovered (March 2025) from my children that SUNRUN had taken our panels off the roof in February 2025 which led to zero Solar system power and me having to pay 100% for electricity. I was not told by SUNRUN that a new permit had to be requested, but that it would only take weeks to get and Solar power will return. This issue is causing me serious financial problems, since I retired in December 2024 not expecting this to happen to me. I am a veteran of the Navy with 29 years of active duty and 21 years of federal service, totalling 50 years of service. Worst company to deal with when it comes to SOLAR. read more

Fortunately we did not get to the installation due to the discrepancy of how much the sales rep told us we would save and how much was stated in the paper work. We were to save $100 per month and per the numbers on the final paperwork to be signed it was only $50.00 then because of some of our local power companies charges we lost another $10.00 so in reality we would only save $40.00 we started to really have doubts since we live in the woods and have a fair amount of trees, however the rep assured us we would get 92% but now in retrospect we doubt it. We have had other solar companies try to sell us solar and one even worked it up and we did not have enough sun to produce the amount of power that Sunrun estimated. Since we backed out of the deal they have been hounding us, by phone, text and today in person. I live on 3.5 acres on a rear lot, we bought this land so we could have privacy. I told them no we were not going to reconsider and he kept on trying, finally I said I can't talk to you since my husband was not home and he had all of the financial details and proof that we would only save $40.00 the guy got my husband's phone number from the other sales rep and then he pestered my husband. Tried to send me to collections because they had my info Wrong for months. Thought I was good because it was working through my electric company. Couldn't get the app to work. Get a letter from someone at my door, yet they couldn't get my app to work. Had the wrong phone number and email, which I've called an fixed multiple times. They said give it 24 hours, yet everytime I called nobody said anything about us not having paid the bill. You can cold knock on the door yet can't get the info correct on your side to fix my app, so I would have known it needed to be paid. I call Sunrun to make an appt for the panels to be doffed & ask about the cracked panel. They apologize. Apologizing is free. I get a new roof. Awhile later, the panels go back on. I have no idea what I paid these Sunrun peeps to sit on my $8.900 roof but I'm not happy. Installation is complete, they leave & guess what? they leave the broken panel behind. I call a few times and I'm told that the panel was picked up between '8 and 9 PM' the same night. So I guess I'm hallucinating the presence of a panel in my yard, a locked gate, a blank security camera tape and 3 dogs that didn't bark. Did I also mention that their monitoring didn't reveal that my panels aren't working? They apologize. Apologizing is free. Sunrun was recommended to us by a neighbor. The Sunrun sales team stopped and we ended up getting Sunrun installed as well. One of the major selling points for us was the one-time on-and-off install over the life of the 25-year lease. Because our roof at the time was about eleven years old they had a person come in to inspect it to make sure we qualified for the roof install. We were told we did qualify. Very few roofs in Florida will make it to 25 years without being replaced. Some mortgage and insurance companies now make it mandatory to replace a roof before insuring a home once the roof is past a certain age. Then came Milton. Our roof sustained enough damage that the insurance company said it needs to be replaced. When the insurance representative asked about the solar we told them Sunrun would take them off and put them on because they are leased and it is part of their policy. I called Sunrun to set it up so the roofing contractor could coordinate the timing and use the one-time removal and replacement policy. I was told by the representative he never heard of that as being Sunrun's policy. I told the rep that it was part of our agreement and he said he would get back to us. He called back and said they do have that policy but the sales people told him they never told us that, and I we were mistaken. I asked the rep how we could know about a policy he told us he never even heard of if the salespeople didn't tell us. A few days later he called and left a message (recorded). He said Sunrun does do that and he would find out what we need to do to get the process started. A few days later the rep called again and left another message (recorded) saying Sunrun does do the remove and replace but we don't qualify, and it will cost us $10,150 to do the take-off and put-on. He said it's not written in our contract. A couple of days later my wife and I went away for the holidays and when we returned there was an email saying the rep resolved it, and it was good talking to us. The roofing contractor (the roof is scheduled to be replaced in February) called one of the solar installers in our county that sometimes installs for Sunrun. Their price is $4,350 to do the same thing Sunrun wants to charge us $10,150 for. That's $5800 for what? - Just to call a subcontractor? I don't know if the sales people forgot they told us about the Sunrun policy of remove and replace, or if they didn't know it doesn't apply to every customer, or they just misrepresented the policies of Sunrun, but as salespeople they do represent Sunrun. Two other couples we know who have Sunrun were told the same thing as well; - that there is a one-time remove and replace Sunrun policy. I find it absolutely disgusting that Sunrun would upcharge $5,800 (coming from the main office) to remove and replace the solar panels and take advantage of not only us, but I'm sure many others who are going through storm damage and roof replacement. After this I am convinced nothing from Sunrun can be trusted because of the misrepresentation and absolute disgusting blatant upcharges they place on their customer base. Additionally: 1. Sunrun supposedly has a roofing company that does their work in the area (never heard from them) 2. We were told we are supposed to get a check once a year from our power company for the difference in what power we produce to what we use - never happens 3. The sales team only had a small laptop. They were going to use our printer to print the contract but couldn't get it to work from their laptop. They were going to email us a copy when they got to the office. - Never happened 4. With all the negatives (hundreds on line) how can we sell our home when the time comes. No one will want a home with Sunrun attached. 5. Both the salespeople no longer have their original phone numbers so I guess we are not the only people who were trying to contact them to help resolve our problems. 4 years ago, I entered into a lease agreement with Sunrun Solar. It was my understanding that Sunrun would monitor my system from a remote location to insure it was functioning properly and take action to replace/repair any parts. It was only because of an extremely high electric bill in October 2024 that I discovered that my system stopped producing energy, both to my home and onto the grid. Clearly, Sunrun does not monitor their systems. It took several weeks to have their service subcontractor (Current Home) arrive to inspect and confirm (what I already knew) that the Inverter needed replacement. Current home does not carry any replacement parts to service or repair Sunrun systems, and an inverter had to be ordered. Of note is that all during my downtime (4 months) Sunrun continued taking their monthly lease fees from my checking account! Attempts to reach management through "customer service" met resistance, and any requests for a callback were ignored. Certified letters to their CEO at their headquarters received no response or rely. In summary, NO customer service, no support by management, and a service company with no parts to make repairs. I bought a house and this company took my signature and put me in a 25 years contract without my knowledge. They make me sign a "transfer contract" so that they can provide me with the information of the prior owner. The old house owner didn't know he was in a contract, his realtor didn't know he was in a contract, the tittle company didn't know he was in a contract. I gave them a couple of days to work a deal so that I can keep the solar panels and they keep saying that is only for "new customer", I am a NEW CUSTOMER. I wish I could give 0 stars! The worst! I bought my house with the solar panels already on the house, therefore absorbed the lease. They installed the panels on a 21 year old roof, and did not put in a clause stating that they would do a one time removal and reinstall when the roof needed replaced. The removal and reinstallation costs $8500 for 36 panels. This is almost half the cost left on the lease. They will not let me buy out my lease, therefore I will be paying one and a half times the cost of the panels overall. Additionally since the hurricane, I now have a hole in the roof, and several leaks, but Sunrun says it will take 3-4 months to get them off in order for the roofers to get out here. I have a family with small kids, and we can not have a hole in the roof with leaks in FL for up to 4 months. Do not use Sunrun! We got Sunrun and were so excited about getting solar and getting rid of our power bill like we were promised. This is not what happened!!! When the representative was at our house selling us solar they did a calculation on how much power we used and then how many solar panels we would need and promised us that they calculated the number of solar panels we needed with power to spare. Best company to go solar with! Great team in Tampa, FL. They are knowledgeable, honest and have a great company concept

So disappointed with this company. We originally got our solar through Vivant, which was amazing. Then Sunrun took over, and their customer service is horrendous. Our panels stopped producing, and though Sunrun claims they monitor the system, not one let us know. Fortunately I noticed after 10 days and contacted them. It is 3 weeks later, and still no one has responded. Meanwhile, my system isn't producing, which means I will have an electric bill. Absolutely brutal. read more
