Started our solar journey, hesitant to get it really , then we met our rep. Came to the house , gave good points and why Sunrun was the best and Yada yada.Yada. we chose sunrun, ran our credit applied for a loan . We were told in September that it would be set for October, then November, asked why it was taking so long and was told it was due to permits, (since September) in December we had to follow up because our rep wasn't contacting us at all. I text him and emailed the one person who emailed from Sunrun, never heard back. A month later a new rep emailed (no call) to say he's taking over that he will follow up with me. Again no response and this was in January. I am disappointed that the rep went out of his way to say how great this company was, but yet nobody can follow up. I replied recently to an email from CEO Mary Powell April 9th after receving an email about due to the pandemic there were alot of delays. I havent heard back but will give her the benefit of the doubt since it was only sent on the 9th. I gave a 2 star because the rep valued his job , and our concerns and needs. They came out to repair cracked tiles under our panels that caused a leak in our master bedroom. They left a mess on the roof, ruined personal property in our backyard, and left trash in our lawn that our dogs got to. And in the end, they didn't even repair what they came to do, AND they didn't plug half the system back in, so we weren't producing energy for THREE MONTHS?!? How do you give a BIG FAT ZERO for a review! This is the worst company I have ever encountered in all of my years of doing business. They have stolen $600 from my business account and are "looking into" returning it. It was stolen and it needs to be returned asap. Every customer service person I deal with on the phone has a very thick heavy accent . I happen to speak Spanish, so I'm able to communicate somewhat but I feel very bad for any Customer that's calling that does not speak Spanish. When we first started with them, they were very kind and communicative until they installed the solar system... After they installed the solar system, they do anything but communicate. And they never trained us on the system. We had no idea how to take care of it and it wasn't operating for probably the first half of the year... A service guy happened to come out at our prompting and he found out it was never working at full capacity. We even have the Tesla battery and we had no power for one day when they took the power away in our area... And that is what the Tesla battery is for. It's a back up so that you don't lose power and it failed miserably. This company quite honestly needs to be sued and I'm happy to join a class action lawsuit. If there's anyone out there that would like to start it. I am BEYOND disgusted and disappointed with this so called solar company. The salesman was really good! When I say that I mean he came to my door in plain clothes and said Southern California Edison sent him out because we failed to answer their notice that mandates all homes have solar. Made it seem like an official warning and we did something wrong Listen her Americans, I'm all for a good sales hook, but this was unacceptable. We asked a few questions before it turned into a clear sales pitch from a 3rd party company called SunRun. Sales guy continued to say Edison WONT service us anymore until we convert to solar, and his company can offer us buying their Tesla power walls, and they will install solar, and we will pay the same price. WELL, Edison still services us and that was a lie... All we have to do, to pay the same amount on our energy bill, buy Tesla power walls from SunRun, fix our roof and they will install solar panels for free. We said no and he said he will do a SOLAR TEST on our house, for free, to see how much it generates. Alright come around back and do the test... "no I just need a place to sit down"... Found out there is no solar test, the guy just opened up his iPad and gave us a slideshow about the SUNRUN company and how the owner is some social media loser with a big loser family that know he's a conman. We asked this kid about the solar test and he said he's doing it by showing us a google maps picture of our house... He tried the close the deal by showing us more pictures of the loser owners social media and then going back to how we can buy the Tesla powerwalls, because his company bought them all up, the only way to get them is through SunRun... So... I buy Tesla power-walls from you because your loser owner running a social media account bought them all for a while... then, I fix the roof (if needed) Panels get installed for free I pay the same amount on my energy bill each month to Edison.. Get out of here! Biggest scam ever. What bothers me is how you acted like you're from Edison and coming to my door on behalf of Edison and a failed response to the notice... and there was no "free solar test". Do not use this company. They will promise you a $2000 check for singing up and getting solar. Then they tell you after the fact that you will get 2 credit cards. The credit cards have an expiration date. If you can't use the total amount in time you lose whatever balance is left. They will not give you a new card. I called them and they said sorry you lose. No reason they could not issue an new card. Horrible company. read more

A salesman showed up at my elderly parents house on a Friday evening and gave them a BS story about their electric bill more than doubling if they didn't get solar. Not even four years into solar and our roof/ceiling/beams are damaged from their incompetent installation job! They have admitted fault and our warranty clearly states their promise to fix it and pay for it all! But over a month later still sitting here with a soggy ceiling and ruined roof! They sent an incompetent or say shady contractor who though he'd get away with a patch job lol um NOPE then we were told we could get our own contractor, I went above and beyond taking time from my job and got three bids and still they blowing smoke! The stress is off the charts and the panels off is costing us money! Our damages are over $30k And more rain coming is more damages since they neglected to get the house tarped after panels removed. The first tarp job caused more damages and was done wrong! My life's mission is to make them accountable! I eat, sleep, breathe and defecate this situation!!!!! The reviews posted here with 1 star and with the bad experiences, I can attest (with our experience) are true. Prior to installing with SUNRUN (they talked to my husband as they were selling at COSTCO) we never had any issues with our roof. We installed in 2019 and to this day, we have had issues with leaks, water in our ceiling, about $30K in additional out of pocket repairs (all pushed on to us by SUNRUN, they would not take any responsibility to pay/reimburse or to even just help us get things fixed). This is our biggest regret with our home since we moved. All of the additional roof issues and expenses we have had are directly related to the SUNRUN install. We have come back from vacation to find our ceiling bubbled with water and leaking on to our rugs (and our hardwood floors). We are worried with every rain. Each time there's an issue we have to get roofers back out, and they ultimately let us know there was another issue, with panel install, etc. etc. We have never had such a terrible time with a Costco related provider and we are incredibly disappointed and frustrated. I do think if you live in an area that gets a lot of sun, that solar panel install could be a good idea for you. Please do your research, meet with different companies. I would not recommend SUNRUN; they cared only about selling the $30K install, then stopped providing support/warranty/service afterwards. To make matters worse, sometimes their panels are not functioning correctly, and then we don't benefit from solar savings anyway. If we can save another person or family from spending unnecessary money, and from the time/frustration from dealing with faulty installs, SUNRUN people giving you the runaround, and not making sure your panels/install/roof are working properly, then we should. We are on the 6th year of dealing with issues and additional costs from the install. We paid $30K for the install, and an additional $30K (no help from SUNRUN) to fix all the damage from the install. read more

I have to give a star rating, according to YELP buyt believe me I do not want to even give this company a 1 star.. This company is CRAP. We started out with the Sales Rep coming to our house. Giving a good sales pitch, she took my $500 deposit, as required. Paid on my credit card. (I had my 4 adult children sit in on the spill she gave, so we would all understand what we would be getting and know all the details.) They witnessed my deposit payment being charged. We were supposed to have the solar system, in 2 months or so. Our Sales Rep, recommended an electrician to come out to do the necessary work that was started by my husband, who was an electrician, but he passed away. Sunrun said they could not touch work that had already been started by someone else, so Jody recommended her friend, who is an electrician, to come out. This guy was the biggest flake, but he did finally get the work done. Then Sunrun was able to come out and get the system installed. I had requested extra panels put up if possible, which of course cost $9000 more, but I agreed. Well after 4 months or so, the system was up and another almost 2 weeks to get it approved by the city to operate. At the completion of the install. I paid Sunrun with a CASHIER'S CHECK, in the amount of $54,000. I have been bugged continuously from this poor excuse of a company, stating that I owe $500, the amount of the deposit. Now we all know, they obviously got their deposit paid, or they would not have come to do the installation without it. I have a signed contract, the receipt, etc. I DO NOT AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL. My Sales Rep previously was contacting Sunrun to verify that the deposit was paid in full. Went with Sunrun after a couple of years found out we had a leak. Called a roofer they instantly looked at it and said it was due to the posts being improperly installed. The roofing company told us to talk to Sunrun as they should repair it. Contacted Sunrun to have it inspected by them, they looked at our attic, and on our roof, and said the roof leak was due to pigeons not posts improperly installed. I suspect the representative for sunrun was there to document it in case we took them to court. The pigeons by the way nested under our solar panels after their installation. I called another roofing company that also does solar, they sprayed water on the roof instantly found the leak at one of the posts. I am writing this to anyone who is looking into Solar. I am not one to write reviews but the process I have been through with Vivint and now Sunrun solar is less than stellar. I had signed a contract in March 2021 for solar with Vivint, panels were place June 2021 and panel upstaged as needed. Now the fun begins, solar was never completed and Sunrun states they are waiting on inspections to be completed. I have been getting the run around from the company and now I am in the process of selling my house and this is causing problems because the panels are in the roof but not connected to anything. It is not working and having not working solar is not horrible selling issue on my home. I have had to reach out to my sales person who no longer works for the company and feel as though I am getting nothing accomplished. This company is not worth the trouble and should be avoided at all cost. Waiting on a response to for them to remove the panels by March 1 so I can sell my home. Vivint and Sunrun definitely don't work together. read more

My elderly parents signed a solar lease agreement with Sunrun in 2017 to install leased solar panels on top of their 28-year-old roof which had (and still has) original underlayment. Sunrun should have done an inspection on the roof before installing those panels, but my parents did not receive a copy of the inspection report and so far Sunrun has not been able to provide me a copy of the inspection report. My parents should not have agreed to have panels installed over a roof which had 28-year-old underlayment without first changing out the underlayment, but my parents were in their 80s and I believe Sunrun took advantage of an elderly couple who did not do their due diligence when they installed solar panels on a roof that was not going to make it for the 20-year duration of a lease contract! When I took over financial responsibility of my parents' home in 2021, I had little choice but to take over the lease contract with Sunrun. Now, (in 2024) the underlayment is 35-years old and in need of replacement. My roofer cannot do the underlayment replacement until Sunrun first removes those solar panels. The lease contract is clear that only Sunrun is allowed to touch those panels. Sunrun wants $4,830 to remove, temporarily store, and replace (R&R) the panels after the roofer finishes the underlayment work. I'm balking at paying this R&R fee because I believe Sunrun knew better than to install solar panels on top of a 28-year-old roof and then having my 80-year-old mother sign a 20-year lease for those panels. After two weeks of going back and forth with an escalation expert, the best I've been able to do is to get a $300 discount from Sunrun for the R&R fee. My advice: 1) do NOT allow Sunrun (or anyone else, for that matter) to install solar on your roof until you are assured the roof will not require foreseeable maintenance for the next 20-years (i.e. the minimum amount of time you plan to keep the panels up there). 2) Make sure you get a copy of the roof inspection report before allowing solar panels to be installed on your roof. read more

We were approached by a sales person at the Costco off of Cabot in Laguna Niguel end of July 2020. We then started the conversation with a field representative named Chris (who sounded like a nice guy). We were encouraged to hurry and sign agreements by 8/30 so $1000 incentive can be send to my sister who recommended Sunrun at Costco. Sunrun sent two people to survey the roof for installation. A design was submitted and they were going to use two areas of the roof. Later in November they sent one of the guys back to double check the roof. Our roof is 18 years old and there is shorter roof that is only 14 years old. The design was to install panels on both short roof and high roof. On 11/30 we entered a new contract allowing Sunrun to re-roof the two areas for a fee of $2730. On 12/30 a crew of three people came to fix the roof but they were instructed to only work on the high roof! We called our field rep. Chris who assured us that he will take care of it and that both areas of the roof will be covered with the agreed fee. The roofers came in an unnamed truck and worked for two hours! We have no idea what they did. Then the game began! We would call or text Chris for an update and he will tell us to wait! By mid-March Chris had secured the roofers to come back end of April! With our persistence this time they offered to schedule installers for May 19th! We had it! To wait around for 9 months and not even be on their to do list right away!? We lost trust! Our experience was really bad. We trusted them and they didn't care that they had us wait for so long. We also found out that there was no need to fix the short roof because the design had changed! When I asked the field rep. Why we waited so long for installation when the roofers had already done the area needed for installation, he said because we wanted the roof fixed!!!! We were not happy about fixing a new roof. They forced us to do by telling us it needed to be ready to hold the solar panels for the next 25 years. Their customer care email sends an auto reply that they will get back to you in 2-3 days! We have no idea of what the so called roofers did in the few hours they were here in December. We bought our system from Verengo and I think Sunrun bought them out. The system seems to be working ok....I mean we get a bill from them every month. But the signs that are required to be installed for safety are sun bleached white so you can't read them. I've had texts with "customer service" several times and can't get them to replace them. They said "they don't fade, you painted them". I did not paint them. I even offered to pay for new signs and crickets. Once you sign, you can't even get through to speak to a live person or get anyone to come service the equipment. Stay away from them. read more

They don't show up when they schedule appointments, then tried to tell me I have the wrong date, even though I have an email and text message showing they were supposed to show up. they are the worst company to do business with!!! If I could give "0" stars I would. I have had nothing but problems with them since I started my lease and they installed my panels several years ago. To start they didn't install enough panels so I receive a yearly electric "true up" bill of about $1900-$2100. Sure they have now offered to put more panels on which would equal the amount that should've been originally installed, but of course that'll cost hundreds extra a month. Latest problem; I had them remove my panels so that I can have my roof replaced, finished that and scheduled an appointment with them to have the panels reinstalled (1 month later of course). Today was the scheduled date and big surprise, no one showed up, when I called they had no Idea what I was talking about and asked if the appointment was made with a partner company, which I had no idea about since I called the SunRun number to schedule and was given a case manager by SunRun. Energy consultant Zackary came knocking at my door stating that he represented Edison and that he needed to access my meter to determine whether it had been updated to current standards, I allowed him access (to my backyard) where he asked me to provide him with a copy of my most current energy bill, he then informed me that he required my email address. He is a solar salesperson misrepresenting himself as a representative of Southern California Edison. I called Sun Run to bring this to their attention but apparently he is performing as he has been directed by the company. Beware of these sales tactics. I would never do business with this company. Started out with a program from Vivint Solar. Vivint became part of Sunrun during our installation. Installation started in February, 2021. In July, our existing circuits were switched over to the solar equipment. It is now October and we still do NOT have solar power. However the solar equipment was operating effective 7/8/2021. Drawing power. On our electric bill. Our July utility bill DOUBLED, over $300! I asked and complained to our solar salesperson. The bill dropped some in August but was still $100 more than our normal bill, even though we were out of the country and the house unoccupied for 10 days... We contacted Sunrun again and finally were finally emailed a complaint form to complete. I completed the form and attached supporting documents. But the form was "too large to send". I deleted one document, still "large to send". I deleted all the documents. Now I'm told that the form cannot be submitted without the attachments... What garbage is this??? We're asking Sunrun to reimburse us for the amount over our normal usage in July and August. Sunrun has no published contact information that we can find. The company is hiding behind a "cloak of secrecy" that is consistent with their failure to communicate and speaks of the lack of integrity within the company. Solar is definitely the way to go where we live. Just don't contract with Sunrun. We're so very frustrated, disappointed and angry. read more
