Sunrun as a whole is an absolutely horrible company. Had them install panels on my house that have never performed as expected. The installation was abysmal. The crew that came to do the installation damaged my house. Then when I said that I would complain about the damage, the crew boss (supposedly), James Kiser got upset and threatened me. To add insult to injury when I contacted the company, no one ever responded. I don't know if these were employees or subcontractors but this was a horrific experience. Customer service is basically nonexistent -- endless hold times, no callbacks, and zero accountability. The solar panels themselves? Useless. They don't work anywhere near how they were promised, and the savings they brag about are pure fantasy. These solar scammers keep coming up to my house every 6 to 8 months and every time their scam message is the same but a bit different. They ramble about Edison increasing the electricity rates because of (insert a recent wildfire event or other disaster) and then try to scare you about that. Of course we never buy from door to door scammers and decline yet they continue to talk and talk. Usually as we close the door on them, just like this time, the sales jerk says some nasty insulting words out loud which are picked up by our security cameras. I guess it makes them feel better about scamming people when they can insult the ones that did not fall for their speech? This review is for Sunrun in general, not at Redondo Beach location. I read all the reviews and totally agreed with them all. I wished I took these reviews seriously then I would not loose my money for Sunrun. I paid off the system in December 2024. For the last five months it works beautifully. Suddenly we received an electrical bill for $300. We checked. The circuit breaker was off. The system was disconnected for two months. The Sunrun app and their team did not send us any alert at all. We reset the system. It ran but still had hiccups almost everyday. We had to keep an eye on it and reset the circuit breaker every time it was off....so frustrated!! When I called Sunrun, they said I would need to pay $585 for a diagnostic test and then pay for whatever the cause of this error. Basically, they are done with my house and I should deal with it on my own:( I am so regretting! Do not buy solar system from Sunrun! read more

Sunrun is an unethical company that preys upon the elderly. A door to door salesperson visited my 82 and 89 year old parents three times. The third time, the salesperson came with an aggressive male who convinced my parents to sign a 25 year contract for solar panels they did not need. My mom understood that everything would be free and that her electricity bill would go down. Installation was free and her bill did go down, but my mom was blindsided when she started getting a $166 monthly bill that will continue for 25 years. She was paying $80-$100 month prior and the salesperson knew that. My mom would not have agreed to paying double for electricity if she had fully understood what she was signing. When I filed a complaint to sunrun, they said they have a recording of my mom agreeing to the terms of the contract so there is nothing we can do. read more

I live in Torrance CA and purchased Sunrun panels in full. Every time I have a problem, it takes months to get it repaired. The last issue I had, I had to sign a form for them to come out to fix it. Repairman said it was not a fault of mine so I didn't have to pay the $584 fee. Now, every week they call and want me to pay this. Rep says it's the inspection for them to repair it! Sunrun is such a ripoff. I wish I never should have dealt with them. And of course, they were supposed to be servicing it between 8-12 noon. He came at 3 pm. read more

I called this company because they are at Costco. I have always trusted Costco with everything, but after this I would never use Costco for their Solar recommendations or HVAC. Both are terrible and misleading. Sunrun came out to me for the consultation, but was ONLY interested in selling their "Service", which everyone else would call a lease. Even after I advised I am not interested in a lease, he did not stop. I asked for their estimate to purchase the equipment, and their cost was 70%+ higher than 3 other companies I have proposals from. I assume they over price the purchase only to sell their Service. Also, they are quoting inferior equipment and warranties to anyone else I spoke with. Sunrun is a big NOPE for me. On another note, they come door to door in my neighborhood and ask to see our meter and asked if it has been upgraded to digital. They don't even introduce themselves as Sunrun employees. In Sept. 2023, I had a service rep from SunRun come to my door regarding solar panel installation. I did agree to have the panels installed on my roof. However, SunRun employees FAILED to inform me that not only would I be paying SunRun on a monthly basis but ALSO I would continued getting a bill from SoCal Edison every month. In May of 2024, I paid a total of $252.00 for SunRun AND SoCal Edison. The month of June and July was slightly lower. The address 348 Main St. El Segundo, CA 90245 is TOTALLY non-existent !! 348 Main St., El Segundo, is the very large El Segundo Police complex. 348 S. Main St., El Segundo, would be in the massive Chevron oil refinery property. We called (424) 232-8426 and the man answering was evasive. The four hours we spent was instructive however. This isn't even about the product but the sales team. My neighbors were having some panel's installed. I was at home working and I had workers at my place already. A sales guy came to my door and started to give me a pitch. I politely declined and said I wasn't interested. He continued. I once again said I wasn't interested. He tried again. I still was not interested. "Why not?" He said. I said look I'm busy and I have workers here. He continues with his pitch. I said "look I'm working right now." He said "ya I'm working too". I said "well you aren't working here so thanks". He looked at me and sarcastically said "real nice". It shouldn't be that hard to get rid of these guys. SunRun's customer service is abysmal. I am their customer from May 24, 2010. I am leasing their system. Lately the LCD screens on both inverters stop working. I asked them to fix inverters. I called , sent them emails but nothing was done. They asked to provide pictures of not working LCD screens and I send them pictures on 09/14/2023. They would open the case and immediately close the case stating that system worked fine. I paid $190 for technician visit to check the system. Tech name was Joel. He came and stated that both LCD screens are not working and that he will order new LCD screens and install them. When I followed up with customer service there is no mention anywhere about LCD screens not working. I do not recommend Sunrun for your solar needs. read more

SunRun purchased our original solar company (Vivint). We had always experienced excellent customer service with Vivint with quick resolution of problems, but SunRun's customer service is abysmal. We needed to get the panels removed for roofing repair and contacted them to initiate removal. Our contract stated 30 day notice for removal, but we are well past that and I have received zero communication from them. Multiple contacts with their customer care service or direct calls to office staff have resulted in nothing. Avoid working them at all costs and if your solar company gets bought out, prepare for an end to customer service. read more

I called this company in October. They were anxious to have me sign a lease for the system with bells and whistles. I chose to get a Samsung back up battery for the system and was excited to get solar power because air neighborhood gets a lot of power outages (minimum 4 a year). It is now March and they finally installed the panels but waited for the final inspection. It failed because they installed it incorrectly and have to come back and move equipment 5 feet. Why was that not in the original plan? In the meantime I get another power outage and with all of the solar panel and battery backup sitting on my house not functioning. No reschedule to repair or replace. I would love for them to just remove it so I can get a decent company to install it right. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

This review is for Sunrun in general not a specific location because I don't even know which psychical location is was dealing with. I believe the guy on the phone did say Orange County... doesn't matter. Work ethics suck. Initially the guy was very nice, attentive and responsive. Worked with them up until the permitting process, til I started to discover a few loop wholes. Throughout the entire process I made sure to ask several times about the cancelation process and he kept assuring me that I have up until a week of install to change my mind. Well, way before we even hit installation or even got permits I started having a few more questions to which the agent started getting more and more stern and brief. Nothing was transparent, all my questions were being dodged, and he just kept texting me and emailing me irrelevant info about the company. And they only chime on the fact that they sell in Costco. So when I finally decided to cancel, he was so rude and kept saying why would you even do that you're paying triple that right now in your utilities, making me feel so stupid. And the best part after that was he started ignoring my calls and texts, like an upset child. Companies this big should know customer service a-z from beginning to end regardless of the outcome, not only in the. Egging when they are trying to gain your business they try to suck up to you and then if it doesn't work they turn to ass. read more

I really wish we had chosen a different Solar company 11 months ago!! In order for us to start the Solar process we needed an electrical upgrade and a new roof. We paid out of pocket for the roof and Sunrun took care of the electrical upgrade-ish (with a Gov't grant, I believe). The electrical upgrade was a partial upgrade unbeknownst to us. We found this out the hard way. The standard electrical panel is located at the rear of our home and we have a sub-panel in a closet inside our house. When the primary panel was upgraded the sub-pane was not. This was not explained to us. We found out this was the case when the sub-panel breakers all burned out and there was no power in the front portion of our home for more than two weeks. We had to find an electrician to come and replace all of the breakers in the sub-panel. We sent Sunrun countless emails asking for reimbursement. Finally after more than a month of non-stop emails we were finally reimbursed! Here we are 8 months down the road and the process is still incomplete. We planned to get an Electric Vehicle in September. That plan is still on hold waiting for Sunrun to get their act together and finish the job. I've email every single person in Sr. management at Sunrun and I have yet to hear from anyone of them. We started the Solar process in March 2021. We were told everything would be complete and we would be up and running by Mid July 2021. We've had 5 inspections so far and we have another RE-RE-RE-RE inspection 11/1/21. The new roof was completed in May and the inspection is going to be 11/1/21 6 months after the job has been completed. I have sent Sunrun COUNTLESS emails We have been inconvenienced time after time with inspections giving up our precious time to be home to give assess to technicians and inspectors. We were super excited to reduce our carbon footprint. I really, really wish we had chosen a different Solar company 8 months ago!! Everything was finally completed December 17th. One of the coldest months of the year. On top of everything else there was a roof leak 12/27/21. SunRun is sending a roofer 2/7/22. DO NOT USE SUNRUN! I have been trying to get solar for almost 2 years. They messed up the design multiple times, because of their mistakes we had to submit a permit revision which delayed 2 extra months, they don't tell you what's going on unless you contact them, all their people give different information on timelines, and to top it all off, after all this time my system STILL isn't running. I only stayed with them to get the better buy back rate before it changed in California, but now I think it would have been preferrable to get the lower buy back rate so I didn't have to keep being attached to SunRun. In comparison, my in-laws got solar through Tesla in less than 6 months, from the day they reached out until it was up and running. read more

THE SCAM OF ALL SCAMS! YOUR UTILITY COSTS WILL INCREASE, NOT DECREASE. Everything NEGATIVE you read about this company is true. The POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENT is a scam. It does not save you any money on your utility bills and gives Sunrun all the tax rebates and financial benefits of going Solar. They are in partnership with Southern California Edison and other major utility companies. Sunrun and your utility companies basically use your home as a makeshift powerplant that doesn't save you any money, instead benefits both of them financially while holding your home hostage. for 20 years. Furthermore, the engineers at this company deliberately design a system too small to meet your electric needs. We have plenty more roof space that could have been used for panels and actually allow us to benefit from solar. Instead we are losing money on our electric bills and have our monthly payment to sunrun increase each year. All and all it's a huge scam. Sunrun hasn't even cleaned our maintained the system as promised. No yearly cleanings, no follow up, no nothing. The Sales reps for this company are encouraged to be dishonest to potential customers and lock them into a contract by any means necessary including deceptive and dishonest sales tactics (Don't believe me, read the multiple reviews on Glassdoor from former Sunrun employees or talk to former workers). They will promise you the world, and once you sign that contract you are met with nothing but excuses on why your system isn't activated (took me six months and tweeting their CEO to finally have it up and running), why your system isn't working and why they won't fix damage they did to your home. Dealing with the regional Sales Managers is the worst because they are behind the deceptive sales practices and horrible customer service you're receiving. Dealing with them is like dealing with the most corrupt and crooked Politicians. When you try to hold them accountable, all they do is shift accountability and gaslight you. You never get any resolution to legitimate concerns. They are master manipulators who know how to avoid helping customers with legitimate grievances by pushing customers buttons and upsetting them so they don't want to call. I could go on forever about how messed up and dishonest this company is. I have spoken to former employees who worked under Travis Leung, Regional Manager for Inland Empire Riverside county region. They stated under his leadership they are encouraged to lie to people and give false information. They are encouraged to rush customers through the contract so they question it. This sadly is common business practice that was taught from the READ EVERYTHING WITH AN ATTORNEY BEFORE SIGNING. They clearly spent millions in legal fees to draft up a sneaky and deceptive, but legally binding contract which the Sales Team rushes you to sign without thoroughly reviewing it. Once you sign and they are on your home, you're screwed. They have you hostage. I could go on about how horrible this company. They financially exploit senior citizens, hard working families and people on limited incomes all for the sake of a lousy commission. They don't pay their workers in a timely manner and over work them. Everything about this organization is BAD BAD BAD to the core. But customers are finally organizing and getting their messages out on Social media, Youtube and in person. I have saved almost 150 people for going with this company in six months (yes I keep track). Every time I am in Costco or Home Depot and I see their sales reps trying to scam another innocent person, I approach them and share my experience. Every time they thank me and walk away. Sunrun might have my home hostage and I'm stuck paying for their snake oil solar panels that do nothing. However, Myself and many other customers will continue getting the word out that no good can come of purchasing, leasing or having one of their systems on your home. If you do decide to go with sunrun for solar, purchase your system so they can't cheat you out of the rebates and you own it outright. But it's best to with a local, smaller Solar provider and avoid this Sunrun all together. There are no benefits doing business with this company. Do not even bother consulting with them. Beware of Sunrun. The project on our home began in January 2022. It has yet to pass city inspection due to shoddy work. They do not have any project managers in California. Sunrun sends the cheapest contractors and does not supervise their work. We have had a very special paint on our home and our newly painted homes paint is ruined because of the contractors lack of knowledge and we provided the special paint. We have had the incorrect electrical box installed and gaps around the box. Shoddy work! We informed Sunrun and John Mayor the so called project manager does not call us or come out to take a look and access the problems so we can move forward. I have called and emailed Sunrun to no avail. They do not deserve even 1 star but in order to post I had to select a rating. I have also contacted the BBB. Hopefully they can help. SunRun support has been nonexistent for me as a current solar purchase agmt customer. I just signed up in June. My solar has been down for a month since early September. SunRun acknowledged they opened a ticket on it 9/8 and yet despite my calls 3-4 times a week since then, and constant promises about "escalating" it, they have not called back to schedule a service appt or with any resolution...but they're super efficient when debiting my account. They came out in June with Edison to inspect our panels but the sunrun guy had no ladder so they rescheduled for the next day. Who doesn't bring a ladder to a solar panel inspection on a two story home? Needless to say they have not been back. We have been waiting for an inspection for 5 months noe and every time I call, im disconnect or transferred 4-5 times just to be told they will escalate our issue. Once the panels were on my roof, the rep that helped me with the sale, Hillary Conover, won't even return a text. They promise call backs and updates that never come. ABSOLUTELY WORSE COMPANY EVER. They are either incompetent or crooks, but I suspect they are both. Shame on Costco for choosing to partner with Sunrun (I will also notify Costco of my negative experience). After meeting with a Sunrun sales person Wendy Li who we discovered later is a rookie and has NO experience whatsoever in the solar power industry, we decided to sign a first contract which would allow for Sunrun to send a surveyor to inspect our roof. We made it crystal clear from the beginning that we were putting on a brand new TILE roof. We were never notified that this could be a problem. NEVER. Sunrun sent a surveyor to do an inspection (inside the attic, inside the house and outside as well) while the new tile roof was being started. A day or so later, I received a text message from the Wendy that the roof was perfect! "I just talked to the surveyor, the roof is all good to go" (I kept her text messages as proof and will forward to Costco when I write my complain). They sent a second surveyor with a drone... Still good to go... until I received a phone call that they cannot place solar panels on a tile roof unless we remove the tiles where the solar panels would be mounted and lay asphalt. Really??? Do you think that a company whose primary business is to put solar panels on roofs would have the decency to notify us of this earlier???? Well, if we were to pay an additional 10K than what was stipulated on the original contract, they would do it.... which of course we refused to do. Story short, unless you want to risk doing business with incompetent people or crooks, stay away from Sunrun! read more

We signed the documents in March 2021, the representative told us we'd be in service by the summer months Starting in May. First the panels were not installed until June 1st, the system was not inspected until August and it failed the first inspection when I reached out to one of the representatives he told me he had good news it had just passed which was just a plain lie as the repairs had not been completed, after a few visits by their repairman because they didn't have the required parts to complete the repairs it finally passed in September. Note that we started paying on the loan in August they didn't really care about that. So after the system was activated on 17 September more than 6 months after the documents had been I attempted to login to MySunrun account it wouldn't provide me with the code required, I've chatted with 2 representatives and I've sent numerous emails and this issue has still not been resolved. Every representative has an excuse for the issue but they don't provide any assistance. This is one of my biggest and most costly mistakes I have ever made I would not recommend this company. read more
