I was approached in Lowes by someone working for SUNRUN about adding solar additional solar panels. I agreed to a consultation. I spoke with Darnell from SUNRUN and scheduled an appointment. I called back the next day to cancel. Darnell became super aggressive on us leasing some panels from SUNRUN. After telling him "no" for the 5th time Darnell hung up on me. Update to my review of Sunrun. Received a call from an Escalation Specialist ( named Carrie) saying she wanted to help us resolve our issues with Sunrun. Was hopeful until she began her questions . It was apparent she wasn't looking to help us, but to show Sunrun did everything right . She asked for 12 months of PG&E bills to compare our usage. As I told her we had just moved to Bakersfield and purchased our home so there was no bills to compare, so I don't see the validity of sharing my pg&e bills with Sunrun today. I stand by my initial review in that Sunrun DID NOT PROVIDE OR DESIGN AN ADEQUATE SYSTEM IN THE VERY BEGINNING TO TAKE CARE OF A HOUSE THIS SIZE...ALL ELECTRIC! We explicitly told the Sunrun Rep that we wanted more panels than we needed to operate efficiently because of our age and medical conditions! That wasn't done!!!! SUNRUN'S FAULT!! But now our issue. One year later with an enormous tru- up bill I called Sunrun to complain. Was told by the Rep we needed to add more panels!! (12 to be exact. ) If you have to add that many more panels in a years time, that proves to me it WAS NOT AN EFFICIENT DESIGN IN THE FIRST PLACE! We were not happy! And not happy today. That's a VERY significant increase for one year later when we asked Rep for more than we needed! Well, he didn't and now we have 2 contracts and nothing can be done about it! Carrie told me if I wanted the contracts together , she couldn't help me. My point is it shouldn't have happened in the first place! Their Design for our home is not adequate to eleviate the high tru-up bills even today. We are elderly so we are very frugal in our usuage of appliances and always watch consumption. Long story short, the only resolve is on us! Either add more panels for third contract or battery pack which either will cost us thousands of dollars and another 25 year contract. The HOA we live in used Sunrun as a contractor. They were very unresponsive when we tried to get them to turn on our service and it took months before they returned a phone call. We've been dealing with them for over a year and they still have not fulfilled their contract. They were recently replaced with another contractor and it's pretty obvious they are only looking to install a system and not service it or their clients. Very poor customer service experience. Apparently their calculations after a site survey and revised system design were wildly inaccurate as we've only produced 3500 of the 6300 kwh we were contracted for. Sunrun is trying to pass the buck. It's been 6 weeks and more than half our home is taped off with visqueen. They don't answer calls and when they did contact us it's always 'we're getting right on it". 6 weeks and counting. They did major damage to our home and did a half-ass job. The salesman who went over everything with me was very knowledgeable but that is as far as I can go with any kind of praise for this company. Two months after installation and I still do not have final inspection. Phone calls locally and to headquarters are met with promises, excuses, canned music while on hold, and more excuses. "We are busy" seems to be the buzz word and nothing can be scheduled. My project manager won't do emails and texts are just more promises and excuses. The wrong heat sensor was installed in my garage for the Tesla battery and now getting the correct one is once again holding up final inspection. We bought our home with Sunrun Solar Panels previously installed and got swindled into keeping them based on the previous Owners contract. They charge per KW used and the monthly bill was literally $10-$20 less than what PgE would be. Not worth it at all. I wish I had a way to remove the panels from my home but I am told they cannot be removed and only "deactivated". Worst decision I have ever made. read more

I initially installed with Vivint Solar 7 years ago. I have been very pleased with the service. This year, I got a huge "true-up" bill from PG&E so I contacted them to add more panels and found that Vivint is now Sun Run. The sales guy recommended 11 new panels and a battery. It was scheduled and when they arrived, the electrician said they couldn't install the battery where previously agreed and since I had stuff in front of the wall, they would have to reschedule. I offered to move the stuff (it took 15 minutes), but they left. They left stuff here, as well. After no reschedule call, I called the sales guy and he set up a second install appointment. They showed up and did the install of the panels, but had problems installing the solar battery. The electrician said the electrical panel would need to be completely redone and he would call me the next day. I never heard back. From anybody. To make matters worse, I discovered my oven no longer has power. I called the Vivint/Sun Run national support people, because I don't have a local number. They spoke to the manager who they assured me would call back in 15-20 minutes. An hour and a half later, no call. I called national support and got noting but the runaround. "Your panels seem to be working". "The county needs to do an inspection which could take up to a month". I don't even want to talk about the battery. It won't do what it was promised to do - be a whole house battery. I have questions about what it actually will do for me, but nobody seems to know. They just promise to find out and call me back... If you're looking to buy a solar system or expand your current system, I would recommend looking elsewhere. I recommended them to 6 people when they were Vivint, who put in solar systems. Now I feel bad. If I could give sunrun a negative 5 I would. We inherited sun runs solar from the previous owner of our house and it has been nothing but a nightmare. We noticed leaking from the roof into our living room and enclosed patio this last winter. We notified them in February and they sent out their roofer who agreed it was sun runs fault. Long story short we have talked to at least 6 different sun run representatives with nothing done. It is now almost July and we have done the leg work for sun run by getting quotes for the repairs to our home as well as the roof proposals and no one has answered us back. We have had three roofers out independently from sun run come out and look at our roof and they all say the work done was very poor quality. One roofer said he has fixed 3 other houses for the exact same issue caused by sun run. We have been been more than patient. Just fyi for anyone who has the same issue with sun run, there are multiple lawyers who will take them on. I also urge you to make a complaint to the California State License Board and with the BBB. read more

This was a terrible experience. The technician over phone was doing his best to follow the script but I'm truly unsatisfied with the overall experience. He suggested that I check my own inverter and I explained that I'm not home and work away, and when I'm home I value my family time. He then said he wasn't able to move forward. That he'd check with a supervisor, then explained that I would have to pay for a service visit to determine if my inverter is not working. The system is degrading at a faster rate than promised and no one seems to care about this. I have a leased system and service was suppose to be included which it clearly isn't. I know my system is older, and we are using more energy however year after year the system underperforms. They give us a small pittance of a credit but doesn't dent the large true up I get. FInal Update.....After speaking with several Sunrun Customer service personnel, sending 12 months of utility bills to an "esccalations expert", i was finally able to get things resolved by speaking with my utility company. Sent 12 months of billing statements to the "escalation manager", and she only outlined our increased power usage, completely ignoring that net metering was not reflected on any of those 12 months of bills. The contract says that sunrun would make the neccessary communications with the power company. After everyone that ive spoken to with Sunrun, and the audacity of them to request 12 months of bills just to produce a report, when all that was needed was a call to the utility company shows negligence on Sunrun. Currently at a negative balance of around $3k with the utility company which is great, but no thanks to sunrun. We had our panels put in March or April and the sales guy Brandon gave us a big spiel about how he was more than a salesman and would be there to answer our questions and help for as long as we had the panels. We were told that we had so many panels that we could never use all the electricity that they would produce. It is now October and on top of our Sun run bill of almost $300 dollars we are paying $400+ to PG and E for electric. Brandon does not answer our calls, I went back to Costco and spoke with Monita and she stated a manager would contact us. This has not happened. I have sent my pg and E bills to sun run as customer service requested with no response. I called Sun run again and this time they said that the panels were not working correctly and they would look into this. Nobody called back. I am currently on the phone with Paula and have asked to escalate to a manager but she says she cannot do that unless I send her my pg and E bills which we already sent. The absolute worst. We contacted multiple times because our true up doubled. Their response was to tell us it was our fault and our panels are working fine. I'll spare details on the extent to which we have gone to make our home more energy friendly. Another company provided a design and permitting to add additional panels to our roof to reduce our true up. We contacted Sun Run to ask if it was possible for them to add more panels so we didn't have to buy from the other company. I cannot imagine a company turning down more business, but after asking for the design plans (from the other company) the rep said that SunRun would not approve more panels. Seriously. They'd rather us buy from another company rather than provide us with more panels and make more money. They claim the other company might have smaller panels. We did not pass inspection until I asked that the panels be removed from my home at the end of January 2022. I put my home up for sale and had a buyer that wanted the panels removed.SunRun ignored our request I've been asking for a reduction in my rate and told't do anything that was not possible. This has cost me the sale of. my home and over 100k. My realtor and I have tried to work with this company and all receive is that we are sorry we can't help you. I had my solar panels installed by Vivint solar before SunRun bought them out. Everything was going well, until our house caught fire at our electrical meter. After investigations, it is believed that the system installed caused too high of an influx and shorted our electrical panel, causing a fire that destroyed our home. We were told that they had to have installed a new electrical panel and meter before going online, so because SunRun bought Vivant Solar, they also bought the liability and are now bing held negligent in the case of our house fire. They will be going through court to determine who is at fault, whether it be the city for allowing the panels to go online, or SunRun for not updating our system even after they bought out Vivant Solar. Fast forward to reconstruction. We hired contractors to reconstruct our home, and they've started demo, but they can't do anything else to the house until the solar panels come off our roof. It has been and absolute fight on trying to get answers and responses. I've been dealing with them for 2 weeks in trying to get them out to my house to inspect and determine what will happen to the panels. They don't call back like they promise they would, and our case manager has been avoiding communication at all costs, always having to speak through customer care or the removal and reinstallation crew, and each time I talk to them I have to reexplain everything, over and over again. It's very frustrating. It seems as if they just glance at notes and not pay attention to our case when they talk to us. They also withhold information from us, so that we do something that can penalize us. They were so quick to allow our contractors to remove the panels, but if any of them were damaged (which most like they are damaged because of the fire) we would be held liable for those damages. We have even removed the AC unit from our house and installed a small water cooler, we have called to have our system checked but we get the same thing every time for months. THE SCAM OF ALL SCAMS! YOUR UTILITY COSTS WILL INCREASE, NOT DECREASE. Everything NEGATIVE you read about this company is true. The POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENT is a scam. It does not save you any money on your utility bills and gives Sunrun all the tax rebates and financial benefits of going Solar. They are in partnership with Southern California Edison and other major utility companies. Sunrun and your utility companies basically use your home as a makeshift powerplant that doesn't save you any money, instead benefits both of them financially while holding your home hostage. for 20 years. Furthermore, the engineers at this company deliberately design a system too small to meet your electric needs. We have plenty more roof space that could have been used for panels and actually allow us to benefit from solar. Instead we are losing money on our electric bills and have our monthly payment to sunrun increase each year. All and all it's a huge scam. Sunrun hasn't even cleaned our maintained the system as promised. No yearly cleanings, no follow up, no nothing. The Sales reps for this company are encouraged to be dishonest to potential customers and lock them into a contract by any means necessary including deceptive and dishonest sales tactics (Don't believe me, read the multiple reviews on Glassdoor from former Sunrun employees or talk to former workers). They will promise you the world, and once you sign that contract you are met with nothing but excuses on why your system isn't activated (took me six months and tweeting their CEO to finally have it up and running), why your system isn't working and why they won't fix damage they did to your home. Dealing with the regional Sales Managers is the worst because they are behind the deceptive sales practices and horrible customer service you're receiving. Dealing with them is like dealing with the most corrupt and crooked Politicians. When you try to hold them accountable, all they do is shift accountability and gaslight you. You never get any resolution to legitimate concerns. They are master manipulators who know how to avoid helping customers with legitimate grievances by pushing customers buttons and upsetting them so they don't want to call. I could go on forever about how messed up and dishonest this company is. I have spoken to former employees who worked under Travis Leung, Regional Manager for Inland Empire Riverside county region. They stated under his leadership they are encouraged to lie to people and give false information. They are encouraged to rush customers through the contract so they question it. This sadly is common business practice that was taught from the READ EVERYTHING WITH AN ATTORNEY BEFORE SIGNING. They clearly spent millions in legal fees to draft up a sneaky and deceptive, but legally binding contract which the Sales Team rushes you to sign without thoroughly reviewing it. Once you sign and they are on your home, you're screwed. They have you hostage. I could go on about how horrible this company. They financially exploit senior citizens, hard working families and people on limited incomes all for the sake of a lousy commission. I am looking into going solar and I saw these guys at Costco. Given my affinity for Costco, I thought this place would be a legitimate business. I called and an agent helped me out and kept me on the phone for three and a half hours. After signing a litany of papers he sent me a proposal that would only provide me 72% of my power usage and told me PGE was going to raise the rates and we would be paying them ridiculous amounts fir energy. I told him any system less than 100% production was pointless, given that the panels will deteriorate to 85% by the time they're paid off, and if their predictions are true, we are going to be paying a fortune for that additional 15% we have to buy from PGE. He told me we could have a team come out and do a site assessment but we just needed to complete some forms for them to do that. He then had me apply for credit for the system I didn't want. Then he tried getting me to sign a contract for the system I didn't want, all the while saying it was just policy so we could get a team on my property to do a site assessment to develop the system I wanted. I informed him that it was a contract obligating me to the 72% system and approving the build, and he said not to worry about it, that it didn't really matter until the system was built and that's just what we gotta do to get the reps out for a site assessment. He said it was for liability reasons to protect me if the team got hurt while on my property. I reluctantly signed since I had five days to cancel. Next day the site assessment guys come out and I think we're all good, and I'm waiting on the results. The salesman calls and tells me before we can take a look at the data to see if we can build the system I want, I need to sign the loan agreement, which turns out to be a contract to fund the inadequate system I don't want. I tell him he already has the data they need, and nobody needs to risk injury stepping on my roof to do that, so why can't they just review it and let me know if we can build a system that'll work. He says it's just policy and we gotta sign some papers before they'll look at the data. He proceeds to send me a contract from the lender for the system I don't want. Yes, a binding contract which would fund the build of the inadequate system. He goes on to explain that I had to sign the binding contract with Sunrun for the inadequate system AND the loan contract with their lender for the inadequate system I don't want , so that they can check the site assessment to possibly create a new proposal for that system. Makes zero sense. Shady as heck. Needless to say, I refused to sign any further contracts and cancelled the first. Informing yelp is my first stop and Costco home services management will be my next. These guys operate in an extremely shady and confusing manner. They never even informed me that I was reviewing a contract for the system nor that I was signing for a loan, rather they tried acting like they were just forms we needed to sign to get the sight assessment done. I had to spell it out for them before they would admit it was a contract on both occasions. I would not give a star it doesn't deserve it. They are not friendly and a big liar. If I know what I know now, I would never done business with them. Nor would I lease my solar panels. I have mistakenly signed a 20 year lease with this awful company. My bill was $113 per month. Didn't realized that every year the price will go up 2.9% which means I would over paid for my panels. Plus my panels are not producing enough energy every year which means they installed not enough panels. It is why I have to pay every year a true bill to PG&E of $400. I will not recommend them to anyone. read more

We are installed and up and running! Going green through Sunrun has been a breeze. I'd recommend Sunrun to all. Anthony Lazcano {661-319-0361} sat down with us in our home and answered all our questions and concerns. He also made himself 100% available if we had more questions. There was continuous communication and updates with not only Anthony but with other support staff like Shelly, Dave, and Daniel through text, email, and via the phone.
