I came here on a Sunday afternoon to get brunch to go for 2 people at 2:25 pm, I waited at the bar for the bartender ( older woman with black hair) to finish her long personal conversation with a patron, finally I interrupted her to try to order and she says to me " we close at 2:30, I said your website says 3 and I walked in at 2:25 ? She gave me a nasty look and just went back to her conversation. I used to like this place when the menu was more interesting and the employees were much nicer. But not anymore. I will never return to the sunroom lounge again. It appears that the Borgata does not need the revenue on food anymore, especially when they can just take you on the casino floor. Lol. Just change the hours of operation and close down the social hour that your bartender holds at the bar on a daily basis. The Sunroom was a surprisingly quiet and beautiful venue in the MGM Tower. If you're staying at either the MGM or the Borgata, having breakfast in the Sunroom is a must. My partner had the Eggs Benedict, which she said was very good. I had the Veggie Omelette, which I thought was also very good. However, we were very disappointed with the 'home fries'. In the attached picture you'll see the little square shaped potatoes look appetizing; unfortunately, they weren't. They were so hard and dry, we couldn't eat them. Came for a quick breakfast bite for the first time despite many borgata visits. 5* for the vibe 3* for food. Let's be honest guys - it's hotel food so it's pricey but pretty decent portion size. Think decent diner food quality. Fries were honestly probably the best. Eggs are definitely cooked all the way. They gave me a cappuccino 2x before my latte (no biggie other than my imminent caffeine crisis). Otherwise the service was ok (1 person for the space basically). Came here around 11am on Saturday. When walking in, we weren't sure if we had to wait to be seated or find a table. Another couple walked by and told us we have to find a table. We sat down at a small two seater table in the front of the restaurant. The waitress was nice, however she seemed like the only person working. It took soooo long for a really simple lox Benedict and eggs to come out. About an hour and a half. She accidentally charged us for a second coffee. Took so long to get the bill too. The only reason this is getting 3 stars is because of the ambiance & because the bartender resolved an issue I had otherwise it would've been 2 stars. I stay at Borgata all the time but never ventured into Sunroom until today. The ambiance is very relaxing as the room is literally a huge sunroom with lush plants, water and fire elements and has a chill vibe. It was morning so I decided to order the pressed egg and cheese sandwich that had Taylor Ham aka Pork Roll (depending on what part of Jersey you're from) on it and came w a side of hash browns. I was able to substitute fruit instead of the hash browns , but, crazy thing is the fruit never came despite the server telling me he was bringing it. The sandwich ... I am never one to complain about price, however, this was $16 and when I tell you that it was the most skimpy and sad sandwich I've ever seen in my life ... the bodega or deli or bagel shop would put this sandwich to shame and it would be $10 less. Sort of a strange little lounge area in the MGM Tower (formerly the Water Club) at Borgata. We stopped in for a late afternoon cocktail during our last visit. The ambiance was very quiet and relaxing, with soothing water features and tons of plants. It was nearly completely empty with only one other party present when we walked in. The specialty cocktail list was not terribly exciting, but their "Sunburn" was an absolutely delicious mango-forward cocktail. My wife had what was perhaps the single worst mojito she has ever had. Service was oddly slow, particularly given the lack of crowd and two bartenders on duty. They all primarily gathered around the corner of the bar and socialized with one another. I hear Sunroom is a decent place for breakfast in the morning, but as a lounge you can definitely skip it. read more

The website says the Sunroom is open until 11:00pm on Saturday night. Don't count on that. Last night, the bar was full of people watching the football game. At 10:45, the bartender shut off the TV and kicked everyone out, despite multiple patrons stating that there were only 4 minutes left in the game, and the fact it was 15 minutes before the scheduled closing time. The manager defended the bartender's actions and proceeded to laugh at the patrons who were upset. It's not so much that it happened, but how it happened. read more

Disappointing, I had to update my last 5 star review to 1 stars. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees...we never got to our entree because we left. What made below worse....we celebrated a birthday :( Truffle fries were not edible, drenched in fat. Not because of the truffle oil, as stated by the server, but because the fryer most likely wasn't hot enough & the oil was just soaked up by the fries. No truffle flavor (we know it's fake aroma, but still). No crispness whatsoever, limp & sad, seriously, the worst fries I've ever had. We waited for 30 minutes, no entree to be seen, no server either - no explanation why the entree takes so long. We wound up getting up & told our server we don't want the food anymore. We were told there's a private party scheduled for later, that's apparently why the kitchen took so long. Ok - so what? It really doesn't matter, and why the heck would you tell us that. That translates into you not caring about your regular customers, but rather a private, one-time event. At least you should have stopped by for a complimentary drink, or take something from our bill. We wanted to stop by at night for another drink, because the "greenhouse" ambiance is still beautiful, but we really lost our interest in this place. read more

The food was ok, the tempura shrimp w/ the shishito peppers were very good, but the burger and hummus platter was nothing to write home about. Tranquility in the mess that is Borgata on the weekend! We popped in here at about 9 o'clock on Saturday night and the place was fairly empty. The bartender greeted us and invited us to sit anywhere. We decided to sit towards the back next to the fire place, which was nice. Comfy lounge chairs and small tables everywhere to just relax and enjoy a quiet drink. We ended up picking up two of their signature cocktails which were somewhat pricey but also very good and pretty strong. After reviewing GZ's menu, we worked up a hunger so we gave a few things a try. For an appetizer we went with the fresh tomato and mozzarella platter. It was $15 but it was a pretty decent size and the cheese was very delicious. For the main coarse we went with the cheese burger and the truffle fries. It was $21 for the two (which is a bit much) but I will tell you that the burger was out of this world. Cooked perfectly. Great cheese. Awesome bacon. Nice avocado spread. And the fries... Wow. I could have eaten a barrel of them. So good. Overall I like the vibe of the room and the service was fine. Despite the prices (Atlantic City is still a resort I guess) I would come back just for that burger and those fries. read more

This place has a beautiful decor and the perfect spot for a relaxing brunch or lunch. With their pretty plants, sky lights letting in plenty of natural light, and wall water fall, you feel like you are on a tropical vacation. I cannot remember what I ate the first time, that was two years ago, but I remember leaving pleased. This time I had the eggs Benedict that I thought was great. One friend had the omelette which she enjoyed. My other friend had the stuff French toast that was stuffed with a jam and fairly large. There was lots of sugar in this dish so be prepared for that. The only thing that disappointed me was that the tea I got tasted more like water. They said it was fresh brewed from loose leaf tea, and there were bits of tea at the bottom of the tea pot, but they took the tea leaves out before serving it. I'm not sure if they just did not steep it long enough or what, but it was not good. Regular readers know that when the GF and I are looking for a quick getaway, a good bet is that we're at the Water Club. It's easily the best hotel in AC, with a bumping outdoor pool area and great dining options as well. In fact, even if you're looking for a quick bite, Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian has got you covered with his elegant creations at the Sun Room. There isn't an abundance of seating here as it's more of a lounge area to grab a drink and small bites. It's beautifully decorated though with streaming lights among the trees and a fireplace out back. The perfect spot to start your night out. Sunburn [$12] Absolut mango, Grand marnier, canton de ginger The sunburn was light and citrusy, with a subtly boozy undertone from the vodka. Easily quaffable. Tuna Tartare [$19] Avocado, grapefruit, edamame, shallot sofrito The tuna tartare came a bit soupy for my liking, but the sweet acidity of the grapefruit was a wonderful pairing for the nicely chopped tuna. The shallot sofrito added savoriness, with texture coming from the edamame. The Tollhouse crackers threw me for a loop though, downgrading an otherwise elegant dish. Rock Shrimp Tempura [$18] Shishito peppers, chili sauce, sea salt Nothing wrong with the rock shrimp tempura though. Lightly crisped, the shrimp had a wonderfully snappy texture. The shishito peppers had great depth that paired wonderfully with each bite. A must order. Maine Lobster BLT [$19] While there was a bit too much mayo in the lobster salad, the crisp bacon paired well with the sweetness of the crustacean. This was all housed within a nicely buttered mini brioche bun. Lobster Mac & Cheese [$21] Maine lobster, elbow pasta, farmhouse cheddar If there's lobster mac on the menu, you know I'll order it. While I could have done with a bit more salt in the dish, I enjoyed the creamy, sharp cheddar base and tender lobster chunks amidst the al dente noodles. While there were some minor issues with execution (likely due to the fact that Chef Zakarian isn't usually at this casino-based lounge), it's clear that the Iron Chef has left an impressive imprint on the dishes he's created. It's a far cry from most of the food you'll find on the strip, that's for sure! read more

The execution of the menu was lacking - I had the eggs Norway which was a smoked salmon eggs Benedict, very little salmon and a stale under toasted but greased up English muffin, the wife had the pressed egg sandwich, A version of pork roll egg and cheese and it stated cheddar on the menu but crappy American cheese was used. Service was slow because the restaurant was under staffed, it seemed like more people came into work but that was already one hour after they should have been there to help our poor running server. For the price it should have been better. 65 with tip for two entrees and two coffees, one cappuccino, one orange juice. With all of that said I would still go back. Beautiful area located in the water club. One of the only venues where you are actually exposed to the outside sun. We came for dinner and drinks. I had a very good cosmo and the bf chose the ginger rum drink (which as forewarned, was very gingery). Next we ordered some food. I chose the lobster roll and a side of truffle fries. The roll wasn't as expected, but actually 3 sliders all filled with fresh, delicious lobster. I guess that meat was about equivalent to one lobster roll. The truffle fries tasted very good, but were greasy and not very crisp. My bf ordered the burger and guacamole with chips. Unbeknownst to us, the burger came with fries (greasy!!!) The guacamole and salsa was good and my bf enjoyed his burger. We were only a few of the people in the restaurant and it was very loud from the 4 people at the bar. Would imagine that it would be really too loud at capacity. Service was good, but I can understand where the others could complain. I've been to Sunroom 3 times, from ambience to cocktails to delicious foods, Geoffrey Zakarian (judge on Chopped, Iron Chef and co-host on The Kitchen) does not disappoint! Definitely a little pricey but a great location for a date night! Zakarian is known for his cocktails and he delivers here. I'm a big fan of Moscow Mules in general so I really loved their skinny version! As far as the food goes, the pressed taleggio & prosciutto is a knock out! It's like the best version of a grilled cheese you could ever dream of! The cheese is pungent and melty, the prosciutto provides a perfect salty bite and a wonderful fig mustarda adds sweet/acidic notes to cut through the richness. I also tried the tuna tartine, it was pretty good, nice and lemony tuna on toast, but it doesn't hold a candle to the pressed taleggio. read more

So the Sunroom exists INSIDE a casino. So, BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT, you're getting casino prices for anything you order. Now that we've cleared the air, this is my favorite BAR to go to if I'm looking for a quiet night to have an espresso martini. The night bartender does this so well by the way. It's a tapas bar, so small plates. It's perfect for breakfast too, or so I heard. If you're okay with dishing out casino priced cocktails, and want a quiet, romantic, casual place for a drink; the sunroom IS IT. It's also non-smoking, so boom; won me over already. (did you know there's a FIREPLACE?) The perfect place for a pre-dinner snack, post-show night cap!! I stick to the charcuterie, cheese board and Mediterranean platter for sharing. Everything else, in my opinion is too pricey and I just don't want it. But the atmosphere and service provided is worth the check I'm paying. The atmosphere is great. Not so much the food. We passed an acquaintance in the lobby and told her we were going to have lunch. She recommended the Sunroom and said they have a terrific lobster roll. We went in and sat next to the gas fireplace which was nice. My wife inquired about the lobster roll only to be informed that they had a lobster BLT but no lobster roll. My wife who loves lobster couldn't resist. I ordered mediterranean platter hummus | baba ganoush | doma | olives | tabouleh | warm pita Needless to say we were both disappointed. My wife said her lobster was not fresh and my pita seemed old as well.My wife tasted the olives and she was not happy. So when we told the waitress she just shrugged. Two stars for decent food. The service we experienced was nothing short of terrible. We started at a table near the fireplace. The young female server quickly took our coffee orders. We realized the sun was in our eyes, and sought a spot out of the direct sun. We moved to an empty table next to the bar. A new server came over to our table to take our orders. I explained that we had been seated in another section. "What?" I restated we had moved and explained why. "Well, I guess I'm your server now." It was clear he was not happy. I do not understand why he was angry. We all ordered. To be candid, we should have walked out. The service never got better. He was doing us a favor by waiting on us. We asked for hot water three or four times. A cappuccino was brought to the table and slammed down. My cousin can't tolerate caffeine. She asked "is this decaf?" The waiter snorted, "I don't know, what did you order?" Really? That's a nonsense answer but it was typical of all other encounters until he brought us our check. That was the only time he was pleasant. We all have bad days. I understand that, but I also don't have the tolerance for people who are selectively rude. We watched as our waiter was pleasant to other tables. My family eats breakfast in the Sunroom often. We have had this waiter before without incident. I believe that we were a table of youngish girls, and he felt he could get away with treating us like garbage. Sorry, that's unacceptable. Being a huge fan of "The Next Iron Chef," I was delighted to find out that Geoffrey Zakarian had a place at The Water Club. I thought it was fate because my fiance and I had planned to stay at The Water Club for my extended birthday weekend long before we finished watching the latest season and became fans of Geoffrey. Although the Sunroom was beautiful and the waitress was just the right amount of polite and friendly, the food was not what I would imagine to be Iron Chef worthy. I ordered the burger medium rare/medium and it came medium well & dry with soggy fries. I sent the burger back & it came with a new set of fries that weren't as soggy. The second was redish inside & dry. The outside was so charred that I just tasted ashes. I didn't say anything about this burger because I felt that saying something would just be useless & ate half because I was starving. I am still a fan of Geofrrey and hope to try more of his food again. read more

Needing a break from the winter blues and also too early to check in, the mad Russian and I were hungry from our ride down to Atlantic City. We had had brunch in the Sunrrom and wanted a repeat of our last experience. Located in The Water Club, The Sunroom is the closest thing to having breakfast or lunch in the spa you'll ever encounter. Visually it is beautiful. A thirty foot high and thirty foot wide cascading wall waterfall and lush vegetation everywhere, take you away from whatever was ailing you beyond the doors of the restaurant. Bromeliads adorn the planters that separate the patrons in small groups of tables in little alcoves. and tall bamboo trees complete the oasis-type effect. Service came quickly and within moments, Domingo brought us a pair of delicious cocktails. I had a Bloody Mary that was just spicy enough to let me know that the bartender cared about plying his trade. While I opted for the lobster and bacon omelet, the mad Russian chose the smoked salmon pizzette. Both meals were delicious, even though on the first try, they had forgotten the salmon on her salmon meal. Definitely not a place to go if you're in a hurry, The Sunroom allows you a chance to unwind and relax during a meal that is both visually appealing and inexpensive ( in as much as you are in Atlantic City at a world class resort). The Sunroom in the Water Club was the chosen rally point for everyone attending my friend's surprise birthday party. The Sunroom is a small, aesthetically pleasing, well-lit, well-foliaged lounge off of the main lobby. It offers the full range of bar service as well food to include small plates and even breakfast! The gf and I were the first to arrive so decided to have a drink while we waited. Things got off to a shaky start as the two males bartenders ignored my girlfriend as she attempted to order our drinks at the bar. Their loss...we tip well. We saw a table open up and grabbed it and looked over the wine list for a couple glasses of wine. Our attentive and very friendly cocktail waitress Jordan, an attractive, Emmanuelle Chriqui lookalike, took our order and graciously offered to keep an eye out for our group and direct them our way. I had the Chateau Tanunda Shiraz from Australia's Barossa Valley ($13). First off, I received a very healthy pour, which wouldn't have been that big of deal had it not been for the truly satisfying, bold, full-bodied flavor of the wine. The value to price ratio was clearly in favor of value as it was a very enjoyable wine. Needless to say, I ordered a second glass. Before my second glass arrived, so did our friends...and the party began! The Sunroom may be just a "hotel bar", but it does a good job at it with its wine selection and pours. Jordan took great care of our party of twenty, keeping our drink orders and bills straight, and doing it with an upbeat attitude. The Sunroom is very bright and pretty. It's definitely a nicer option for breakfast than the buffet or the Metropolitan, but the service and food were both only ok. I had the eggs hollandaise, which was so bland, I asked for extra sauce. The waitress didn't bring it until we had all finished eating. The French toast was bizarre. It was very hard, like it hadn't been soaked in egg so it was basically two slices of bread with berry jam in the middle and syrup on the side. Everybody agreed the best meal was the avocado toast, which was very tasty and we were all jealous of. The restaurant is very long and there only seemed to be one waitress working, so I can't really blame her for not being attentive. We decided to come by the Borgata for lunch during our visit to AC that being for Memorial Day weekend. None of the places we wanted to try were open early we checked the menu here seems like they were serving brunch so we figured why not give it a try. Nice space , small bar & comfy seats , with plants & a waterfall that is way too soothing that after a few drinks I swear I was ready to knock out at the table. Once seated we started with some drinks , Heineken beer & a Very Berry Mojito. Can't go wrong with beer this was good , I had the Mojito this was great nice taste with plenty of alcohol. Looking at the menu it was not the brunch menu we initially saw , not a big deal in the end since we just needed some food by this point. Appetizers we started with the Rock shrimp w shishito peppers this comes in a chili sauce very good dish , good shrimp. The peppers surprised me didn't think I would like it but it was good. Main dish we both decide to go with the Grilled organic chicken sandwich & an order of the Truffle fries. Chicken sandwich was very good , good seasoned chicken bread was also very good nice & soft. I've been to the Sunroom two times during two separate visits to the Water Club and I would say it's great for a quick drink and lunch. not too overly priced (what else can you expect- you're in a hotel). The second time around, when I heard that it was chef zakarian who was the chef, i was over delighted with joy and couldn't wait until I could have some lunch there! I got the cheesesteak and it was delicious. An opened faced sandwich with lots of flavor from the fried onions, this was a good meal. It was, however, extremely oily and greasy and very heavy, I wished my meal was a little healthier! Good meal, not great- but still a nice atmosphere. I don't like the waitresses there as both times i went they were dressed very..well.. unclassy.... but hey, i guess we're in atlantic city. I don't mind the way that they're dressed, but their professionalism when it comes to being a waitress was lacking and the service was very slow. Lovely oasis in The Water Club for both cocktails and breakfast. The cocktails are definitely not watered down (almost too boozy). The mixed nuts and rice balls with cheese were delicious. Breakfast was very good too. Delicious lobster/bacon omelette that was filled with a lot of lobster. Delicious salad and breakfast potatoes. The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was delicious too. Generous amount of smoked salmon. Coffee was delicious.
