Most recently, I'll admit I missed checking the tank (apparently we've been very enthusiastic gas users). So I called Suburban Propane to schedule a refill. The automated system told me the wait would be 30 minutes, so I requested a callback at 5:30 PM. That callback came... at 10:30 AM the next day. So much for urgency. Ironically, the only way I managed to get someone out within seven hours of my original call was by reporting a gas leak. That's not a workaround customers should have to discover. They proudly advertise customer service and satisfaction, but my experience reflects the opposite, slow responses, poor communication, and urgency only when safety is on the line. If reliability matters to you, I'd strongly recommend steering clear of this company. ***UPDATE*** Want to make it abundantly clear that the actual service team, "Jeffrey and Braleo" were excellent, and the reason I changed the rating from one star to three.

They said they delivered two tanks in November, charged us for two, but we only received one. We had to order another one in January (per our normal usage of one tank every two months). They will not fix their mistake. They also often push us out from our original delivery date and you just have to hope you don't run out of propane. We will be going elsewhere for our propane needs!

While there were some communications challenges throughout the installation process, the overall professionalism and competence of staff is very good. In my recent interactions, they have demonstrated that they do care about customer service and satisfaction. Their billing invoices are still somewhat confusing and vague, but they are working on making them better. I would like to publicly acknowledge two people on our job that went above and beyond. First was Jose who did the installation, he identified that the lines didn't have to run the attic and other site survey errors that saved us time and pain. He was personable and professional and took pride in his work. The other was Tara who assisted us in identifying and rectifying billing errors and took the time to call and discuss each of my concerns in detail.

The reason I choice Propane Ninja was because they have their own meter monitor the propane gas tank. They have better rating then their competition and I don't need to worry about looking at the meter each week. Scheduling a delivery is automated. In addition, using their app I can see the % of gas remaining in the tank and because I know the gas level, I can be assured there are no leaks and if there are they will fix it as part of their small monthly fee.

Suburban Propane is facing, not only public outrage but, class action lawsuits regarding overpricing, fraudulent practices, lack of communication, and poor customer service. I received a bill on 7/24/24 for propane priced at $8.099 a gallon! That's almost twice the price of the listed price by the EIA (Energy Information Administration). This has been an ongoing nightmare for many US citizens trapped within the market with tank rentals and few alternative providers. Not to mention the cost of changing or replacing equipment for electricity. Enough ranting, but I feel this is an important educational opportunity for all of you that have been feeling abandoned. Today I called (800) 776-7263, which is the corporate 24/7 service line. Angela was extremely polite and very respectful. All I said was that I received a bill that was too high and and she placed me on hold for about 2 minutes. When she returned she lowered my price per gallon to just above $6.00 a gallon! She then stated she would review our family's account for average usage and would see how they could adjust accordingly in the future. This type of interaction is very rare in our current economy. I would like to offer, at this time, maybe Suburban Propane is changing their practices. If you are a current customer I would recommend questioning your next bill if it seems unreasonable. If you need a tech - ask for Josh - he is a younger guy who is very knowledgeable, experienced, and willing to go the mile for his customers. Outstanding customer service skills. In addition, Northside delivers Propane gas - my delivery guy was "Tim" who was on Tim and very knowledgeable and friendly.
