We could still walk to sears side by the old UA theaters. Coffee cart, Taco Bell. Pretzel maker and naiya cuisine were open. Summer 2024 - coffee cart only option for food or drinks. Hello, I hope this email finds you well. I was in the Sunrise Mall today, 12/8/25 taking a walk around 1pm in the afternoon and window showing, when I was approached by one of the security guards. He demanded that I do not come again because he had already seen me in the mall earlier in the day. He had assumed that I was there to get "Pokemon Cards" of some sort; when in fact, I worked in the area, and I came into the mall to do my walks, as part of the "mall walkers." I am unsure why he approached me in such a hostile manner as I am just minding my business and walking while on my phone. I did not harass or disturbed anyone or business; nor do I even talk with anyone. Please take corrective action against that security guard, train or inform them that fellow patrons like myself should be welcomed and not harassed. Thank you for your time. read more

Several of the stores had already gone out of business It was a delight shopping in this mall during the holidays. The parking lot is plentiful and the only traffic I experienced was the drive here on Sunrise Ave from Roseville. I've not been to this mall in a long time... like many moons ago. I only came to the mall because the items I purchased in Macy's online directed me here for pickup. This mall is pretty much dead. Many stores have closed and the two anchor stores are only Macy's and JCPenney. But despite declining sales and a climbing vacancy rate in the past decade this mall still manages to remain open. While I was in line in one of the stores ready to pay for my purchases the customer in front of me said she was from Roseville and I said I was from Roseville too... she said she loves shopping here because there is never a crowd. Truth! The Galleria in Roseville is a nightmare during the holidays. Traffic is so bad getting in and out of the mall and once you're inside the parking lot there will be traffic controllers guiding you through the congestion. Came here to get some Sees candy since I knew there was a location got here about 10:30 only to find out nothing in here opens till 11! So I decided to take a loop around and slowly walk what's left of the mall. Not much but there are still a few stores in here and not sure how they make it. A few places I thought would still be here have cleared out and now I'm just waiting for them to open. You immediately realize there is no heat and an employee said yeah the mall Does not provide heat so we use space heaters where we're at since our doors are open to the mall the heat just escapes. Would give it zero stars if I could. None of the vending machines work, the drinking fountains don't work either. Not a single food place left inside. Almost every store is closed and gone and map hasn't been updated so it shows stores where there haven't been in years. The website is out of date. There are homeless people living inside the abandoned store spots. I heard there is black mold that the owners were finally fined for. Supposedly the city gave them a million dollars to turn it into a hotel, but there is no sign of construction anytime soon and no notifications of changes "coming soon". Only good for getting your steps in. Used to be the place they would train service dogs in, even after it started falling apart, but now there's not enough stores or people to simulate public so they moved on. Most of the time only one entrance is unlocked, I guess they don't bother to unlock the other 2-3 entrances. More security than necessary most days. Can't really deter theft if there is nothing to steal. I recommend avoiding this place as it is and probably always will be a safety hazard. Tillys pulled their store out of this place because the employee bathroom inside the back room was inoperable and the owners said they weren't going to bother fixing it. I'd be surprised if there was any functioning bathrooms for the public. A few years ago they had to fire their Santa for being a pervert. I guess nobody does background checks. Stay safe. A few are hanging on but plans are to tear the mall down and redevelop the whole block so its time is limited now. About two-thirds of the storefronts are empty and the whole mall smells like mildew. The food court is all closed up with just one coffee shop hanging on for dear life! This review is for the Kids Play Area by Macy's North Men's & Home location. We came to the mall on Saturday 10/6/18 with our granddaughter and thought it would be fun to check out the play area. When we arrived there were several kids of various ages playing on the soft animals figures and parents seated playing on their phones and a few actual watching their children. There is a sign posted that gives the 4 times a day they close the play area for 15 min so they clean the toys through the day. So that's nice they clean several times a day. They do offer a hand sanitizer station but it was either empty or not working when we were there. Luckily grandma always has some in her purse. To clean our little ones hands before and after playing. I was alittle worried to be honest to let her play when we first came up as some of the older kids that looked like they were within age limits but they were were jumping on and off the animals and running around between them. The parents never said a word to them. There were 2 other smaller babies also playing close by their parents so I decided I would let her play. I followed my grandbaby to make sure the other kids don't run into her and she had a blast. Once the older children left it was nice only the little ones were left to walk or crawl around area. The animal figures are soft so if someone falls they won't hurt themselves on a hard surface like at playgrounds. We chose to come by here as it was windy outside and wanted someplace we could take our granddaughter out to play safely. Plus we had some shopping to do. Overall I would definitely come back here to let her play she had a good time and so did we. read more

Blech! Not as it was back in the late 2000s. I came here after 10 years since arriving in Sacramento and it was not pretty. I was riding the Sac RT bus 23 and wanted to see if this mall was any better than Arden Fair. Little did I know it was so terrible. Lucky for me, I have seen more terrible malls in Houston and Fremont. In Houston there is this one mall that is abandoned and derelict. However Sunrise mall is no more different. This mall looks like it's almost dead because there were very little customers there. Even the small mall near my flat is better than this. However I appreciate how startup stores and ma and pa places are utilizing this place. Back in the late 2000s this was a great place for everyone now it's all gone down hill. read more

While there are lines and waiting times for anchor stores at other malls, this mall has none of that. Plenty of small businesses to support as well. The mall is very clean and kept up. The only downside is the limited food available within - a small coffee shop, Chinese food, and sees candies. That's it. I hope this mall hangs around. read more

This mall is pretty much existing as a walking dead body. I went on Friday night at around 5pm, and about a 1/3 of all mall stores were closed or did were empty and vacant. The only reason why I went here was because I know that the lids store has a machine for embroidery. Out of all the stores, jc penny and Macy's are the only ones that are big enough and open to still have the mall open. This mall needs some trendy stores, like Claire's, pottery barn and maybe even a Tesla showroom. If there is no remodeling to compete with other malls in the area, this mall will soon have the fate of florin mall. read more

Sunrise Mall is like a step back in time to when malls were sprouting up everywhere, at least in the 70's and 80's. Put in a few anchor stores and run a long corridor down the middle, and throw in a food court with the mandatory Orange Julius and you were good to go. Unfortunately, Sunrise Mall stayed in that era, and has failed to keep up with the current prototypes, and has since suffered as of recently. I call this a second tier mall as they have failed to attract top tier retailers, as seen in Arden and the Roseville galleria. In its place are more down home brands mixed in with some independents trying to make ends meet. When walking thru the mall today, and with the way the piped in music was playing, I had my mind jog a memory of a movie that I saw many years ago. No, not Fast times at Ridgemont High, but the classic George A Romero's, Dawn of the Dead. Wow, that was scary! I really hope that they decide to put some money into this mall, as to not fall into the similarities of Country Club Plaza or Downtown Plaza. For now, the $3.99 all the time movies at the cinema will still keep me coming in. read more

Is there anything sadder than a dead mall? The regular Macy's and the Macy's men's and furniture store and the JCPenney are still open, but only about 30% of the other stores in the mall are open. The movie theater looks like it it has been closed for a long time. There are only about one or two restaurants open in the food court and they aren't even running the fountain. I will say the Hot Topic was a nice store and the employees seem nice. They have some shoe stores, some jewelry stores, a Spencers, a Vans, a Bath and Body Works, and a Tillys, but not much else noteworthy. I also didn't see any garage parking so your car will bake in the sun. read more

The last time I was here, I was in the 6th grade . My aunt, who lived down in Citrus Heights at the time wanted to take me shopping for my birthday . I felt so cool ! I ended up buying an ecko red hoodie along with a ecko red backpack . Needless to say, I was one cool 6th grader ! Here we are 12 years later. I've recently moved to the area and find myself coming here a lot . I can honestly say I really like this mall. I don't find myself shopping for ecko red anymore, however , things I couldnt find at other malls and even outlets , I was actually able to find here . I think it's because no one really shops here so their inventory is always up to par. Every store I go to here has such friendly employees who make your shopping experience worthwhile ! Take advantage of the movie theater here! Sure, they play movies that have been out for a couple months now, but at only $4 you really can't complain ! I don't really pay attention to the food court but there's a pink berry and Panda Express across the street , there's also an elephant bar in the same parking lot as the mall. So, this mall is no Arden or galleria , but it's never crowded, ghetto, and parking is never an issue so I'll take it ! read more

Over half the stores are closed, the food court maybe has one thing open, the only things I can say are good about this mall anymore is the hot topic and thats a maybe... Everyone in there was nice and all but it was so overwhelming and I ended up having a panic attack. the mall is dead though, no one walking around, no one leaving or entering really... It gives me "Time life doesn't feel real" vibes. It's kinda cool now that its pretty dead but just... so dead the only people you see is whoever you came with and maybe 2 store employees. I love this mall. It's a remnant of what was once a hustling and bustling shopping center. That said, they still have quite a few good stores left. I like that it's one level and it's just a straight shot through the entire mall...you don't have to worry about getting lost or trying to remember where you parked. And that's another good thing here...there is plenty of parking. I also like the $4 movie theater that they have here. Sometimes they have really good movies and what a bargain. If this mall has a store that you want something from, consider coming here instead of the bigger malls that are packed with people. I hope this place is able to survive...it's nice to have a little neighborhood mall. read more

I actually love this mall. Sure its old, dark and dated. But its the ease and comfort I can get my shopping done in that makes this a great shopping destination. Arden and Roseville malls are very crowded and just not easy to get in and out of. Sure they have a few more stores than sunrise mall, so If your looking for specific retailers and need specific items you may need to still go to one of the larger malls. But if you just want to shop and have a nice relaxing experience Sunrise mall has you covered. Most all the big mall stores are here and I find places like the shoe and jewelry stores have a better selection. The whole vibe in this mall and most of its stores is a relaxed one. Employees are friendly and lines are short or non existent. Parking is always plentiful and if the front lot is full the back of the mall has miles of easy free parking, so you can always find a spot close to the entrance. If you haven't been here for a while check it out again. You may be pleasantly surprised there is such a nice easy mall right here in your neighborhood. read more

So lets compare the malls in the area. Arden Fair= getting mugged and is just ghetto, and Galleria is always a cluster-you-know-what to get in and to and you cannot simply just run into that mall, well Sunrise is just right for most shopping excursions. They have an updated food court with a posh fireplace seating area, yes i did say posh. Granted you will find yourself next to every teenage mall rat that roams every mall in america, but its nice that they made an effort. They have enough eateries, cinnamon, chinese, sandwiches, etc, and the lines are never long. What I appreciate is the kid play area is separate from the food court and even that area is never too loud. The stores are plentiful, sure they don't have every store in the world like galleria, but they have the classic mall stores and department stores. We actually always prefer the Macy's here over the Macy's in Roseville (gasp!). I was able to do most of my christmas shopping here and i think the mall is the perfect size. They have a million parking lots surrounding the mall so you never have to walk far or drive in circles looking for parking. I also love its location to other stores like Barnes and Noble and Target, and will continue to come here! read more

Unfortunately this place is in desperate need of a remodel. Lots of closed stores and the ones that remain open are of questionable quality. Unless you're in the market for novelty items and cell phone covers. Granted there are a few recognizable brands ( Macy's, Penny's, Sears and Victoria Secrets) but I'd imagine they are some of the lowest volume stores in their chains and are probably on the chopping block. ( once leases expire, etc. ). Sunrise Mall is one of the best cases for shopping on-line, since the in-store experiences here leaves something to be desired. read more

I had not visited this mall in quite some time. I'm not really one to go hang out and if I have to buy something at a mall I'm usually in and out in a flash. Well I stepped in with my daughter to go to some of the stores we actually like and decided to browse a little. It looked so sad. The regulars, JC Penney, Sears, Macy's, Victoria's Secrets, Claire's, etc. are still there but there was a lot of other stuff that got a WTF out of me (in thought). They used to have nice little stores as you walked in but now the first thing I saw by the entrance I chose was this "As seen on TV" store. I'm not saying it's a bad store but it looked like something you'd see at Denio's. Just junk stacked up with no decent displays. It was like a ghost town, even for a weekend. I know the economy is bad but that never stopped people from at least looking like they had something to do at the mall. I don't get it. read more

The mall itself is almost half empty, but the stores that are left are pretty big brands (Torrid, JC Penny, Macy's, etc). It's nice to walk in and not have the bump into 12 people just to move around so thats nice. For being what it is, the facilities are actually pretty clean both outside and inside. Here's what puts Sunrise Mall apart from the other malls in the area... 1. Not in the ghetto like Arden Mall so you don't have to worry so much about getting mugged in broad daylight or carjacked. 2. Super easy to park at without having to walk forever and a day to your store like it is at Galleria. 3. Not a vacant store waste of electricity compared to Country Club (Mall?) This isn't a big mall, but for it's size it has most of what I need without making me have to jump through hoops to get what I came in for. But to be fair if Macys ever left I would be upset. Really upset. I added a star for the remodelled food court, but subtracted one for losing good stores (New York & Co) and upping the price at the cheap movie theatre without anything to justify the increase. read more

About 10 - 15 years ago this was a great mall. Unfortunately Amazon and other e-commerce sites have become popular, the Roseville Galleria opened and has a much bigger selection, and then the economy tanked in the past 5-7 years and middle/working class shoppers have become squeezed. This mall used to be popular, but now it seems to only be visited by baby momma's, bored teenagers, and old people walking around the mall looking to get some exercise when it's too hot or cold outside. The selection in the stores is actually pretty dismal. I haven't counted the merchandise, but it does seem that similar stores at the Galleria have a larger selection. There are still the anchor stores - Sears (it's a ghost town in there), Spencer's, See's Candies, JCP's I think, Macy's (not enough employees), American Eagle, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, and a few more affordable stores and a couple trinket stores. There is a discount movie theater - I've never tried it out because they never seem to show really good movies. Or if they do, I can get them on Netflix or RedBox. The food court is typical over priced mall food. Sbarro's is still there despite the fact that they charge way too much for their pizza. I recommend price shopping for soda because some of the places here make all their profit (I'm guessing) off soda. All in all, it's a pretty boring mall. It feels too empty at times - scary almost. I don't know how to describe it, but it's an odd feeling. I only come here if I'm really bored or think I can get something here and save myself a trip to the Galleria or Arden Fair Mall. read more
