Even in Northern Afghanistan, because at least in Afghanistan you'd EXPECT the motel to be, uh, rustic. But by virtue of this place being in California AND being this bad, I proclaim it "The World's Worst Motel."

There was some confusion because I didn't know I had to manually cancel my reservation on Airbnb, but they were very accommodating, and facilitated a date change to this past weekend. The room is cozy and cute - very clean, with a Keurig that was thoughtfully pre-filled, and plenty of coffee pods and tea. There is also a fridge and microwave in the room, and a couch that looks like it pulls out to sleep two more people (in addition to the queen bed). 4 people to the room would be...really cozy. I could have done it in my 20s, but probably not now. LOL. Check-in process was very easy, with the key in a hideaway with a code that was emailed to me prior. Overall, it was a really lovely stay, and there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the main lemon house, as well as the random fun sculpture peppering the property.

But as SOON as I walked into the room (#4), I was smitten. There is a palpable 'peace' here. Bottled water, and other treats were also available. There is a resident, skunk named 'Princess', who pals around with the local cats at night. Now specifically about this property, it was not just clean with warm customer service, but you can tell that the owners really thought about the comfort of the guests. In hindsight I wish I had chosen upstairs, because the sound insulation between floors is very minimal. If you stay here, I would strongly recommend requesting an upstairs room. Breakfast was worse than average. The hard boiled eggs were wrinkled, the bananas were heavily bruised, and the other options were very processed. My daughter grabbed a muffin and we ended up leaving. I usually like Best Westerns and this property would have been perfectly fine for a quick stopover if not for the noise issue.

Maybe the typical guests are more free spirited so don't mind, but this was not very good.
