Efficient use of space. There is no room for a closet, yet you are able to hang your clothes outside the bathroom.

I found this motel through Yelp. Thank God. I used to stay at the horrible Motel 6 in Ridgecrest and am glad I found this place. I travel with dogs and I appreciate motels that don't charge me an arm and a leg for my non-shedding well behaved dogs. This place charges $5/dog. As others have noted, the room is small but it's very efficient. There's no closet but they've created a space to hang your clothes. The bed was nice and firm--no sagging mattress here! I appreciated the welcome basket that contained bottled water because it's hot out in the desert! The room was very clean and the shower flow was good. If you're sitting on the toilet you might think that they forgot to include a toilet paper holder. Close the bathroom door and you'll find it behind the door. That's a little quirky. This place is quiet and the clientele was fine. I felt safe. There's a cute dog in the reception area to greet you and strong coffee to wake you up in the a.m. The one thing I'd change would be to get rid of those plastic enclosed pastries. If I ran this place I'd be baking big batches of homemade muffins & keep them in the freezer to put out in the morning. I guarantee people would remember the Passport Inn and stop by again for another restful night and a delicious muffin in the a.m. UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2019: the motel has stopped accepting dogs. This is very unfortunate for responsible dog owners who leave their room in the condition they found it. However, it's understandable because the proprietors have been abused by irresponsible owners who have left dogs cooped up in the room and not taken out to relieve themselves. The ensuing stench meant that the room could not be rented for several days. Perhaps they could institute a system whereby credit cards were charged, say a $200 dog deposit up front, and upon inspection of the room at check out, the deposit could be reversed or left in place, depending upon the condition of the room.

Great motel, small rooms but clean and cost-efficient. The motel is clean, the owner is friendly and it is a pleasure to stay here.

There was some confusion because I didn't know I had to manually cancel my reservation on Airbnb, but they were very accommodating, and facilitated a date change to this past weekend. The room is cozy and cute - very clean, with a Keurig that was thoughtfully pre-filled, and plenty of coffee pods and tea. There is also a fridge and microwave in the room, and a couch that looks like it pulls out to sleep two more people (in addition to the queen bed). 4 people to the room would be...really cozy. I could have done it in my 20s, but probably not now. LOL. Check-in process was very easy, with the key in a hideaway with a code that was emailed to me prior. Overall, it was a really lovely stay, and there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the main lemon house, as well as the random fun sculpture peppering the property.

Been driving this corridor for decades and over the last ten years have driven by this place often and always comment on the lemon house. Who doesn't.!?! Looking back at the old pictures confirms what I felt while there. This family cares about their property and are constantly improving. Smooth cement and lots of outdoor lounge space is available. Gas grills for BBQing and the one even has an oven. Plenty of parking just don't be ridiculous like me and get stuck on a tree stump! But not to worry they removed it that night... haha Stayed here a few times now and the family that runs this has been amazingly kind and accommodating!!! We will always be back.

Now specifically about this property, it was not just clean with warm customer service, but you can tell that the owners really thought about the comfort of the guests. I was welcomed with a cookie, the room came with ear plugs (so thoughtful) and blackout windows that worked well, and a few other details where you felt like the owners were really thinking about the guest experience. They have only one set of washer and dryer, but they worked well. Will stay here again if I am in the area

Starting around 10 PM there was constant pacing back and forth across the room until about 2:30. It sounded like someone walking across the room, flipping a light switch on and off, then pacing back again. It was pretty bizarre and woke me up about a dozen times, and I'm normally a heavy sleeper. When we checked in they asked if we wanted an upstairs or downstairs room. In hindsight I wish I had chosen upstairs, because the sound insulation between floors is very minimal. If you stay here, I would strongly recommend requesting an upstairs room. Breakfast was worse than average. The hard boiled eggs were wrinkled, the bananas were heavily bruised, and the other options were very processed. My daughter grabbed a muffin and we ended up leaving. I usually like Best Westerns and this property would have been perfectly fine for a quick stopover if not for the noise issue.
