It's very easy to find and within reasonable walking distance to many of the local stores and eateries of Kernville. I'm not typically one to stay in my room all day although the nice AC makes it tempting. We were able to go up to the mountains the entire day and come back and jump in the pool at Whispering Pines. The pool is very clean with a gorgeous unobstructed view of the mountains. The front office staff were very kind and friendly and quickly checked us in to our room. We stayed in room #103 which is very cozy with a kitchenette. The room was nice and clean and we even had a deck out the back door to look and listen to nature. There's no real designated parking spots for individual rooms so it's first come, first served. It gets very hot in Kernville so I would highly suggest parking in the few precious spots in front of the pool fence which give more shade throughout the day. This was a spur of the moment get away and I said to my wife let's call and see if Dee has room. The Cabin was available to we invited our younger son and his wife and kid to join us. Everything was perfect; road conditions were we good, tourists weren't a hassle and fortunately Western Divide Highway was OPENED for our return trip home...this time through Kernville. Everything about Mountain Top B&B was great. This winter brought lots and lots of snow, Dee's car was still buried and sustained body damage as a result. The Cabin easily accommodated our four adults plus a toddler. The Ponderosa Lodge (next door) offered up cocktails and grub and a fun crowd of mountain madness lovers. But as SOON as I walked into the room (#4), I was smitten. There is a palpable 'peace' here. It had everything we wanted; a CLEAN spotless room, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, peace and quiet, quality cotton sheets AND a mesmerizing 50s TIME WARP! Bottled water, and other treats were also available. There is a resident, skunk named 'Princess', who pals around with the local cats at night. She has never sprayed anyone (said the departing 'Music Club' members. . . they ought to know, right?). Then after being informed, the HIGHLIGHT of my stay, was IMMEDIATELY seeing her at the bottom of the stairs! When she caught me staring at her, she scampered under the pool fence & disappeared into the garden. . . Soooo cute! I would come back in a heartbeat. . . JUST to see Princess! ;)

Check-in was nice & smooth, all the Staff was super friendly & helpful. I told them that I liked to photograph wildlife and they were kind enough to come knock on the door when some huge Bull Elk came in the area. Our Unit was clean, plenty of space, comfortable furniture, stocked with what we needed, and everything worked. We especially loved the Fireplace as it got cool on the rainy day. We loved the area, a nice park next door, within walking distance with a pond & a playground for kids. Small town (Stallion Springs) has a gas-station with a few eateries. Tehachapi is a bigger town (about 30 mins away). Make sure to stop at Visitor Center as it will give you plenty of ideas of things to do & where to eat. If you are looking for new & fancy with stuff like a pool or attached restaurants this is not the spot for you. If you want a great week of quiet & chances to see wildlife, enjoy a very relaxing area with plenty of friendly people then this is the place for you !!! I must say this was my first time actually staying in Bakersfield and I was honestly surprised that…read morethe Marriott was completely booked! Granted it looked like all construction workers because there was nothing else but oversized trucks in their parking lot! My fiancé Googled "clean hotel without bed bugs" and Padre Hotel came up first! Their online reviews were great and we were exhausted and needed to rest! We pulled into their valet parking just to drop off our things. As my fiancé parked the car, across the street in the over night garage, I was able to get a Single King room on a Monday night for $159. As we walked into our room #701, it was rather small, but fine since it was just the two of us. As I sat on the bed, it was actually hard! Yay!!!! I can't STAND soft beds and rather sleep on the floor! Haha no joke! Then my fiancé went into the restroom and suddenly he tapped on something glass sounding as I was turning ing on the tv..... I noticed there was a curtain by the bed, so I pulled it across and lo and behold by the bed was the shower and just a curtain the person from the outside of the shower could open/close as they please..... hee. We also had a mini fridge in the room along with a desk and chair. We had planned on staying one night, but got inside LA, and we figured we'd extend our stay. Upon doing so, we went downstairs the next day and asked if there was a deal if we could stay 3-4 days, and sure enough there was!!!! It's always great to see what happens once you ask! Hee. We got a larger room with a corner room location, I forgot the room number, but the restroom was larger and had a separate wall between the toilet and shower area, so if someone was in the shower, someone else could use the toilet and not be seen. This longer hotel room also had a chaise lounge chair and a better view of their downtown area, granted a lot of the places have closed. Overall, I honestly loved our stay here! It reminded me of a county version of The Fairmont SF! They constantly played new aged country music in the lobby! Then on Fridays and Saturdays there was a live band or singer in the bar area! I love how they had a community aspect to the hotel with some local live entertainment!!! My fiancé also loved watching The Knicks play on the bar tv with other people at the bar! Hee. Oh and they had an adorable coffee shop that made Ready To Order items downstairs too! See my review at Farmacy Cafe, but too freaking too! Country SHREK! Hee We will definitely be back again!!!!!

It was not only live spiders, it was dead bugs riddled along the walls. Whether the filth was behind the bed or underneath it is semantics and just goes to show you fail to take responsibility for anything. Not only that, but Jamie received 0 hostility from our party months before the wedding. The first time we met Jamie was for our walk through in July and we certainly notified him of our walk through time. He failed to check his emails. If Ben was fired due to unprofessionalism, why did you tell my coordinator that all brides would hire him directly? I'll post that screenshot below. He must not have been that bad if you were willing to reinstate him in future packages. If your package doesn't include a coordinator then don't include it on your website. Simple. Besides all of this, we're also now finding out Jamie scheduled 2 couples to do their food tasting on our wedding day, but told the caterer he only scheduled one. When the second couple arrived, they were given a portion of OUR extra food. You guys never confirmed this with us. So not only were strangers at our wedding, you gave them our food, which according to Jamie, is customary for your venue. We've also been made aware that Jamie's real name is Tim, so for every time we thought we were communicating with you, we communicated with Jamie the ENTIRE time. I did not post a review until now because with the type of business you run, I was concerned if we left a bad review we would not get our security deposit back, as you tried to do to another bride. It's a shame that you have such a beautiful venue, because an owner like you that fails to take accountability ruins it. Hopefully whoever decides to buy it in the future will run it better. If, according to you, the brides happiness is first priority, then you've done an absolutely horrible job at showing it! I'll make sure to respect this in my other reviews as well.
