Needed an emergency furnace repair and called Sunrise to come out and fix it. Chris, one of the owners, was very prompt and replaced the blower motor. However, something was off the next day and I called them to come back. Chris came back and adjusted something saying to call if there was another issue. A week later the furnace had an issue and wasn't working again. Called and spoke to Linda who said she'd call back with a time someone could come out. She called back six hours later to say they wouldn't be coming and didn't offer up another day for them to and fix the furnace. I had to call another repair man who came out to fix the issue. Apparently Chris had installed a motor that was too big for my furnace and ruined the blower which needed to be replaced. I showed up to their office with the broken motor Chris had installed to show them what had happened, requested a partial refund for the cost of the new blower motor I had to purchase. I thought this would be a reasonable thing to ask this was a mistake made by Sunrise. I've gone in twice to the office and all Linda can tell me is that Chris is aware. Spoke to women who assured me I was getting kerosene delivery because I have an outside tank that was on 12/9/25 that tank was problem free, called for another delivery on 1/30/26 that tank IMMEDIATELY jelled, had to call my furnace guy to try and get heat back, he changed filter and immediately it jelled right back up, he asked what I got said kero same as last delivery as thats what they said I had he said this is NOT for outdoor tank, its immediately jelling up filter, I had to add 20 gal kerosene from gas station, 6 bottles of 911 rescue, 4 bottles of additive with cetane boost and put a hairdryer that blew into an insulated contraption to keep heat through the-16 temps, called them because its cost almost $500 to fix this, she told me if I wanted an additive I should have asked, deliverys are same as you set up at beginning, I said in your notes it doesnt say I have an OUTSIDE tank, I explained in detail for first delivery, and you told me I was getting kero and that tank didn't immediately gel, was fine through these same ridiculous low temps, why would he even deliver stuff NOT made for outside tank in -2 that it was when he showed up? Well hes not just going to put something your account isn't set for, asked how it would be set for that in an outside tank?? Well everyone makes mistakes. I said ANY credit with you guys I want immediately refunded and account clossed, gave me attitude and how they dont usually return credits. Told her was OBVIOUSLY never using them again and close my account and give my money back. She then asked me if I was sure I didn't want one of their techs to come to me?. No! My landlord owns our tanks but gets service through Sunrise Fuel. They told me if I wanted to start service I would have to pay a $430 deposit to even get service. When I asked what happens with the deposits, the woman said I would get it back when I moved out. I said I never heard of a fuel service requiring a deposit, she said it was THEIR policy for renters. Mind you the whole time the woman I was speaking with was rude, abrasive and unhelpful. I refuse to call back and set up service with them. Not because of the ridiculous deposit, but because of how this woman spoke to me. If you don't want to be in customer service, don't do a customer service type of job. read more

I wanted to give a shout out to Linda who has been my primary contact for nearly a decade at Sunrise. She has always been friendly, professional and informative. The public may not like understand the constrictions of rural living when they relocate or visit from metropolitan areas, but they need to educate themselves before posting the lowest ratings possible. Okay, that would probably be good advice for voters too :) National and International corporations have an unlimited appetite for profit and automation, but rural businesses have to rely on finding people that want to work. Generational Government Dependence has become huge intentional weak link. I appreciate everyone who has not become a victim of it. You can report concerning "facts" to the proper organizations. You can call or write the company with suggestions to improve service. It sounds like requiring an address label on the tank cap and an email or phone confirmation of the delivery, account and address would also prevent some of the mix ups that have been mentioned. I wouldn't recommend this company even to my enemies. We called a few weeks ago for a delivery we drove up from Queens New York only to find out that the girl in the office put the wrong address and at that point all the drivers were done for the day. Their response was it was anew girl and no apologies to us was made . Just called again today for a delivery and we were told none available . When I mentioned what happened last time all the rude woman would say is well I can't change what happened . I suggested they train employees better and her response was I won't stay on phone and be insulted . She then hung up. I guess they don't need or want new business . After reading the one star review I have to say I experienced nearly the identical situation. Driver filled neighbors tank and I was billed. Passive aggressive customer service experience, Tank allowed to drop below recommended levels with autofill and then told no one can come out for six days. Six days when 4 weeks earlier I called for a delivery and was told they would not fill the tank when the reading was 25 to wait until 20. Now 15 and they haven't come out and won't for six says. Do not recommend this company. They do not care about the customer or their employees at all. The owner only cares about making money anyway he can and doesn't care about who he screws over to make a buck. They fired an employee when he was quarantineing for covid that he got from the owner, and it was right before Christmas. Really disappointed in my recent service. They claim to be 24/7, but they couldn't come out to me until 2 days after I called. This was MDW, so I understand the holiday delay, no bid deal, but the disappointments continued. Once the tech made it on Tuesday, he said our propane would be delivered Friday, even though their website says they have radio dispatch for their propane deliveries so that they are prompt. Not only was I annoyed that I had to wait four days for propane, they didn't deliver until four days after that! I was in the cold for over a week. Additionally, the tech said the propane deliverer would check to make sure the furnace was working and would light the pilot light for us- the deliverer never even knocked on the door or said one word to us. Now two weeks later I receive a $95 invoice for the tech visit that was less than 5 minutes in length. I am a new client and this is my first time dealing with this business, but I can only hope the quality of service improves from here.
