Diri kole ak pwa wouj avec tasso boeuf.

Ohhh Sunrise where do I begin. Let's start with when I made my entrance inside of the establishment we were greeted nicely. But the staff was on a call with a customer and her response to the customer on the line was not friendly and showed her poor customer service skills. I for one would not be talking to a customer on the phone in the manner in front of customers she should have discussed the situation in an appropriate area. As my party of five waits to be seated a party of three strolls in and just gets comfortable and sits down at this time the host is a bit dazed and confused and is hollering at the people who just walked in and saying aren't you five come and now my friend is saying no that's us. So for visual purposes we are still at the entrance and the host/ waitress is yelling for us to come have a seat. That's not the biggest deal. What really urked me is (Danielle) the waitresses poor demeanor. When she came over to finally take our order, which felt like forever she was RUDE. One friend asked for the Saturday special as opposed to her saying we ran out she nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders and said we don't have it. My other friend asked for the pricing of the fish and she said everything is on the menu BUT if you actually took a second to glance at the menu that information was not given. My other friend then asks for kenap which is beautiful displayed on the menu and she then opens her mouth to say we don't have it. So y'all just adding photos on the menu of items you don't have. COOL One friend and I order a passion fruit with milk and my other friend said I'd like the same a passion fruit and the waitress barked at her "HOW DO YOU WANT IT." I'm sorry did you not hear her say the same way as me. Overall sunrise you never fail to disappoint me with your customer service. I mentally prepare myself for the outrageous unnecessary disrespect. As a Haitian women I make it my business to support Haitian businesses but when it comes to sitting at this restaurant and enjoying the atmosphere it does get hard when the waitress is ignorant. As for the food thank God it came out great because you can't have POOR quality customer service and then serve crappy food. Food: 4 Customer Service: 2.5

Very salty, cold, with no sweetness.

This place has disgusting service. I came here to enjoy breakfast with my fiancé and I ordered French toast. The French toast was made with a lot of eggs and was very salty with no flavor. French toast is supposed to be sweet and savory. I brought these concerns to the manager who never checked on us while dining. The manager was extremely rude and said "Well I don't know what you want to do about this, you're the first person to say something like this". I apologized to him and suggested that maybe it was just this batch of food but that I don't feel comfortable paying for the meal when I didn't eat it. He left to get us a receipt, slammed the receipt on our table and said "That's it, final!" The receipt included the bill for my meal as well. I will never go to this restaurant again. My fiancé went to the register and asked the manager he could just pay for the food that he ate and the manager started being extremely rude to him and tried to force him to pay the full amount with a tip. I felt necessary to start recording the interaction for our safety.

Griot, rice & beans, plantains

I still love Sunrise for Haitian cuisine. I have always had friendly service (whether I'm with Haitians or on my own) and the food has always been good. Today, I ordered the griot platter, which I had not ordered before. The griot was crisp and tasty, which means the accompanying pork fat was tender. The pikliz had a nice bit of heat and as usual, the plantains and rice & beans were good. Also, it appears they now have pâté, but were out at the time I was there. Hopefully, they will have it next time.

There is no point of calling in for your food. It will not be ready, but the cuisine is wonderful. I wish they move a bit faster.

I often gauge the attention to detail with an establishment by the cleanliness of the restroom. Theirs was absolutely spotless and even smelled fragrant! That's a great indicator. Furthermore, anytime I get Jamaican cuisine it's like a good Italian restaurant with a litmus test. For Italian, it's calamari; for Jamaican it's the jerk chicken. Mama Mia did they hit a homerun. However, I also got an order of the curry chicken for a rounding of the flavor bases. PRO TIP-get the traditional rice and peas, ask for the ox tail sauce over the top. NEXT LEVEL! Both chicken dishes were slow cooked and maxed out with flavor. The heat level of the curry was actually a little more than the jerk. Regardless, they both hit the mark. Highest recommendation! Bon appetite! PS-super friendly service and staff.

The rice was flaky and not over cooked, the chicken was seasoned very well, the cabbage was my fave, cooked perfectly and sweeeet. And last but not lease the plantains was overripe, which is PERFECT. This price range is more close to the city price range. The lamb shank is flavorful, the salad that comes with it is fresh and the dressing is on the sour side, which is appetizing. The conch fritter came out hot and the batter is nice and not greasy. The ambiance is ok, with some jazz music playing in the background. I appreciated how much this place leans into both cultures from decor showcases both cultures to their balanced menu featuring dishes from both. There is ample seating at this place and dont let the construction outside deter you because they are open. We ordered the cheese manakish to start, and this might have been my favorite dish. Balanced with two types of cheese with a light airy texture to it kept it from feeling too dense. The pita its on is crunchy and thin, and theres a drizzle of sauce, likely some form of pesto, that cuts the flavor making it a truly enjoyable dish. We also ordered the chicken kebabs and roasted jerk chicken. The kebabs were a great portion with tender chicken, some greens, and grains. I personally could have used more tzakai, but thats a personal preference. Overall though, the meal did not feel heavy and I left feeling full but not overtly stuffed which I was happy with. My husband's jerk chicken was a sizable dish. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone, and the pilaf had a nice flavor to it. Overall we really enjoyed our meals. The service can take some time, but its a super small staff so just be patient.
