There's two entrances to the SERA parks and I was directed to the athletic fields first. Go down a little ways past that turn, and you'll see the spray park. Lots of parking. Not shaded though, so prepare for a hot car when you're leaving. This place is awesome for toddlers. The spray park is pretty big and there's a bunch of water features. Some weren't on for some reason, but I'd say about 90% of them were. Most of them weren't too intense for my daughter, and the only one she steered clear of was the bucket dumping one. That probably wouldn't wiped all 18 pounds of her out. Off to the side of the spray park there's a brand new playground (or it looks to be). It was too hot to play on the day that we were there, but I definitely plan on coming back with my kids on a more mild day so they can enjoy that part of the park too. Bathrooms on-site that also looked new. Not a ton of shade here, mostly just from the trees, so be prepared to bring your own or snag a spot under the limited tree spots. Picnic tables also available. Recommend if you're looking for a free spot to keep your kids cool!

The grounds were super neat, they have life vests of all sizes from infant to adult. There was a slide, a grassy area for additional seating, lawn chairs and it's perfect to host a birthday party. The session times were the perfect amount of time and it was inexpensive. The only thing in is the line is long but it moves. I can't wait to go next summer. I prefer it over wild waves any day. Cons: the lazy river I sustained an injury from because I was holding in the outside of my daughter's tube and my foot hit a large metal grate at the top.It hurt so so bad and I was limping after. When I came and told the staff they iced me up and wrapped up my toes. So that is something to definitely be careful of.

Unlike the other ice rink Sprinker Recreation Center in Tacoma, the Tacoma Twin Rinks are located…read moreconveniently close to I-5. As the name suggests, there are two ice rinks at this location. We normally come here for hockey games. There is an upper view area for us to watch the game from the upper level, which is nice. However, there's no heater for the audience, so it's super cold at this location. You will have to dress like skiing, or you are likely to be frozen here. The rinks are still new, but the maintenance work hasn't been done well. Why? We came here for a state development hockey for the entire weekend, from 8 am to 8 pm daily. When I went to the bathroom in the morning, everything was in order and in good condition. But when I visited again in the afternoon, it became a messy place. Some stalls even ran out of paper! We couldn't even find any staff member at the rink. Per my hockey players' report, the ice quality of the rinks was just okay. The locker rooms for the hockey teams were kind of small. Not sure if there's any other shower place for hockey players, but I do see a shower inside the women's restrooms. Only one shower probably won't be enough for hockey players who play as a team. Apparently, whoever designed the Twin Rinks had no clue about what ice hockey players would need. Overall, if you want to skate, I still think it's a good place.

We have had a great experience at Tacoma Twin Rinks so far. It is not the cheapest place to skate…read morein the area, but it's better than the local competitor when it comes to lessons. At TTR they do not allow walkers (which we prefer) and they have smaller classes and the coaches take time to work closely and at exactly the kids speed. To by honest, once we got to the rink, our 6 year old broke down in tears afraid of falling and didn't want to skate... the coaches were amazing and assigned an older, experienced kiddo to hang out with her and just let her play and get comfortable on the ice, which involved a lot of sitting and scooting for the first 20 minutes. Haha. She eventually DID stand and was skating slowly by the end of the lesson... then she was begging to return and we have been back twice this week just for open skate to practice. I'd say 4.5 stars only because their website is tough to use, though once you get signed up and figure it out, it is fine. Also, we paid $16 for 90 minutes of open skate tonight and the guys prepping for hockey practice shirked the schedule and the kids had to leave the ice 15 minutes early so that they could Zamboni. I'll mention that to them when I see our coach tomorrow... probably a miscommunication. I'd prefer to talk to them first before assuming it was intentional negligence. Overall, great experience and we'll continue as long as our kiddo is interested!

There are two permanent indoor courts and 6 beautiful outdoor courts. During the winter, 4 of the 6 outdoor courts are put under bubbles for 6 total winter courts. Membership is capped so that court availability is excellent (thus, the waitlist). The pool is very nice and surrounded by nice gas grills and tables. During the summer, everyone grills and enjoys the pool and the weather. There is a dedicated Pickleball Court, a playground, and a full gym, which currently includes a club Peleton membership and two Peleton bikes.. The people at TLTC are great. I've made great, lifelong friends since we joined in 2017. TLTC has USTA tennis teams at just about every level and frequently sends teams to Sectionals and, sometimes, Nationals. The club supports these team, paying for team away court fees to encourage participation. The club also has a rich history. The club was originally formed in 1890 and has been at the current location since 1903. The old photos as you walk in make you feel a part of something special. If you're looking for a club in the South Sound and are considering TLTC, don't hesitate. The waitlist can be long, but the wait is worth it!

The clubhouse at Tacoma Lawn is nice, and the locker rooms look great. But the rest of the club is…read morebelow average. It survives because it's the only higher end tennis facility in Southwest Washington. They have 4 indoor courts, 2 of which are in a bubble. The lighting is good, but you can find much nicer at equally priced clubs. So, it's really only worth the money in the summer when you can use their outdoor courts. By comparison, the club I joined also has a 4 court facility. It also has much lower initiation, but still maintains decent membership cap to ensure court availability. Tacoma Lawn has a gym and much better locker rooms, but the club I joined has nicer courts in every single possible aspect. It also has as nice an outdoor pool. So compared to tennis clubs in Bellevue or Seattle, Tacoma Lawn falls way short. For the price of initiation and dues at Tacoma Lawn, you could join Bellevue Club, and have significantly nicer everything (huge indoor pool, much nicer indoor courts, awesome basketball courts, a more modern gym, cooler member facilities). But since Tacoma Lawn only has to compete against Lakewood and Sprinker, it has a market for itself. Also, in my opinion, the people at Bellevue Club are nicer and more laid back. If I lived in Tacoma, I'd just play at Sprinker on weeknights, and use the money saved from dues to drive up to Boeing Tennis, or a better club in Bellevue.
