And I also find that the reliance on automated espresso technology has resulted in poor espresso drinks across the board. I'm not even convinced Starbucks is in the business of selling coffee. I'm starting to think they make money by selling coffee flavored milkshakes in summer. And coffee flavored hot chocolate in the winter. Mostly, it's candy in a cup. HOWEVER, now that the national coffee maker has rolled out its Cold Brew iced coffee program around the country, I'm singing a different song. Yes, they still use beans that are too deeply roasted. But even still, the cold brew extraction method produces a better iced coffee than anything else I could find in the Bedford, Johnstown, Altoona triangle. If I'm missing something, please let me know. But I'll be grabbing my iced coffee here when I'm visiting during the summer. And when I'm in town over the winter, this will be where I get my blonde roast fix.
