But everyone was super nice and they brought us a menu that had what they offer in a blackout. With the flashlights we looked over the menu. They had probably about 8 customers not including the 2 of us. So they were trying to accommodate. I got the watermelon tomato gazpacho and the chick pea caesar salad. Both were very good. On the gazpacho I wish there was a bit more watermelon flavor and chunks. The salad was good. Very hearty. My friend got the mushroom po boy. She liked it as well. The server was very nice and attentive. The lights eventually came back on about 3/4 the way through our meal. So now we could see. The place is cute and the fans were welcome on a humid evening. You have to pay to park. And the restaurant is all the way down on the right. The area is very cute and kinda touristy. The only down side besides paying to park are the prices. Just because it's vegan doesn't mean it's cheap. It's not. Prices are higher. Just for my soup and salad my dinner was $28. I guess that could be standard but I got soup and a salad. But it was good. The biscuits comes with 4 different spreads (fig jam, peach butter, strawberry butter, and a brown sugar butter). The biscuits were a good size, and my favorite spread was the fig jam. I wish I could have put some in a jar. The mimosa flight flavors are so fun. I was not a fan of the soursop but the lychee and passionfruit are really good. For the main dish, we tried the chicken & waffle and the tres leches French toast. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and was crispy. The French toast was actually on a croissant. The exception is Grounded for Life, which offers delicious breakfast and lunch options that are thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and satisfying. Their extensive, all vegan menu offers breakfast options such as bagel sandwiches, burritos, toasts, and more, and even their coffee is surprisingly good! I have also enjoyed their wraps, bowls, and sandwiches. And they even have burgers and hot dogs, too. GfL is my new spot for takeout (order ahead online to save time!) before heading to the airport. The chunky chicken wrap saved me when my flight back to the West coast (already a long journey) was delayed by several hours and I was starving. The cafe also has a number of yummy desserts displayed in the case that are great to-go. GfL also offers a "Meal Prep" option where you can order food on a weekly or monthly basis. Service is friendly and efficient, but they are sometimes understaffed. Try to be patient and nice, and your tasty food will be out soon enough. The cafe itself is pretty small with just a few tables indoors. The outdoor patio is more expansive, and I recommend enjoying your food and drinks outside if the weather is decent.
