This is a great park to have your kids run around when you are up in Santa Ynez wine tasting - lol. The play structures are storybook-like -- a castle, a Viking ship, a theatre for a puppet show. There are two sets of swings, benches for tires parents, and picnic areas for lunch. There is also a nice path of you want to walk your dog or clear your head. Bonus: Clean bathrooms - thank you! Pretty mosaic walkway at the entrance with animal shapes. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I wish there was a playground like this where I live!!! We were in Solvang on a rainy weekend (lucky us lol) so there was no one at the park. It had stopped raining when we got there so we had the whole park to ourselves and got to take so many amazing photos of our daughter :D the playground is so cute! This is definitely one of my favorite playgrounds I have ever been to! You can tell they got crafty with the playground with the different installations and still managed to fuse a kid-like vibe. The tires, gingerbread houses, swings and slides all are set to bring your child(ren) the gnarliest day... Guaranteed and free! Even though we're clearly adults, we had a blast... Best part was that there was nobody there! We went on a Saturday afternoon and brought our dog where she roamed freely and wildly! ;) Overall, it's a castle playground filled with fun, picnic tables and bbq grills. What's not to love?! AMAZING playground. We were in Solvang over a weekend with our dog and kids and we needed a place to take our dog. We found this park listed in some of the Solvang tourist guides, and we loved it. It has a large flat grassy area, dog poop bags, lots of parking, BBQ grill and shade for parties, restrooms, but the best feature was the playground, very big, with lots of features, quite new and just fabulous! Many cities, much larger than Solvang just do not have something like this. read more

Beautiful whimsical playground set with an awesome backdrop of rolling green hills. My kids 4 and 2 had a blast. We hit the park after visiting Quicksilver ranch and the mini horses. The road is very picturesque and would advise checking out Los Olivos at the end of the road for a quaint look back in time just with lots more wine tasting. Also a good tip is to get a lunch spread from nearby (1.5 miles east on Mission) at El Rancho Market and eat at the park. Bring also plenty sunblock and hats. The park could be more shaded so sun can be strong. Even in winter time. read more

Had great memories here as a kid and I was able to bring my 2 1/2 year old here about 20 years ago and it remains the exact same structure! It's a huge structure that offers super fun climbing opportunities. I would love to come back and bring my daughter when she's older to enjoy it even more. It was great for her even though she's 2. It depends on your little one on how active they are. She had a blast and didn't get trampled by any big kids. read more

Sunny Fields is one of the best parks that I have ever taken my children to. The huge wooden play structure, with a designated area for tots 2-5, provides endless entertainment for the little ones. My kids loved pretending in all of the turrets, bridges and house faces. There are multiple slides of varying sizes, multiple swings and lots of places to test your gross motor skills. Because it has a wood chip based, it is a little easier to keep clean. I was traveling in the area, and this was the perfect treat for the kids! I hope that we get to come again. Super fun park. It inspires the imagination. I love how it has different levels for my kids to run up and down.

Enchanting park. It's clean and well-maintained. If you have small kids and are visiting Solvang, it's worth the stop. Most of the structure is constructed of beautifully painted wood. Features includes a puppet stage, a ship, bridges, lots of climbing structures, swing areas, and toddler area. Its a bit maze-like so with small kids you do have to keep an eye on them because it's easy for them to get out of your line of sight. That said it's ideal for kids to play hide and seek and have a blast. Even the grown ups were acting like kids. Taller kids may need to watch their heads on some parts of the structure. Most importantly, nearby bathrooms are well-maintained and clean. read more

This park is gorgeous and very close to Solvang village. Kids play area is clean and bigger than your average play area at any other park. Restrooms were clean and the whole park was nicely kept. Definitely a great spot to rest for a bit and let the kids burn some energy! read more

Cute place but really just for little kids and not for 8 year old kids or older. Place is a little run down as well. Nice that the field is free and families are using it to place kickball. If you have little toddlers or want a nearby picnic area then this is for you. Otherwise not worth stopping over. If you're in Solvang with kids or just passing through driving up the coast, you must stop and visit this amazing playground. It's a wooden playground, with a playhouse and puppet theater and jumping bridges. It's so cute and so much fun. To get there, take the main road through the touristy part of Solvang and turn left at the light on Alamo Pintado road. (There is a great healthfood store in the mini mall on the corner by the way) Take that twisty road up a ways and the playground is on the right, can't miss it! read more

This place is awesome. We stumbled upon it, on our drive to the miniature pony farm. What a nice surprise. It's a fun place for all age kids and has a separate tot area. Awesome park just outside of the downtown area. Fun playground, nice picnic area, and cleanest public park restroom I've ever seen. Biggest highlight is Solvang theme playground. Only suggestion would be put a shade over it. Kids had fun but it was a hot November summer hitting close to 90 degrees that it was hot in the structure. While kids were playing we started BBQ on nice shaded structure next to the playground. Kids love it. read more

Whyyyyyy don't they have more parks like this?!? So my parents, husband, toddler, and I were in Solvang for the weekend. After a yummy brunch at Paula's, I wanted to let the little one burn some energy from being cooped up in the van for 4+ hours., I had done some research ahead of time (thank you Yelp!) and stumbled upon Sunny Fields Playground. I decided we needed to make a stop. The WHOLE way, my parents were grumbling about wasting vacation time at a playground--shouldn't we go to the zoo, or some other big activity instead?--that is, until we arrived. I swear, my son acted like he was at Disneyland. For a 2 year old, he covered the entire park pretty quickly. He ran up al the steps, went on each of the slides, ran up to the towers, etc. He had SO much fun. And of course the grandparents enjoyed watching him have fun--they even spent some time on the swings! I loved that they had a separate toddler area so in case there had been a lot of kids, he could've hidden on that side of the park and still play pretty independently--but he also got lucky and there was almost no one there for the first hour we were there. We ended up staying for about an hour and a half all together, and we had to PRY him away from the park. Definitely awesome! read more

This has to be one of the coolest playgrounds I have ever seen. Castles, gingerbread houses, barns, misters for hot days, slides, tire and traditional swings, this playground has it all. I really appreciated the hand painted detail on the make little "houses". Nice shaded spot with seating in the middle of the playset for adults or anyone needing some shade and rest. Plenty of picnic tables and grills for full day of fun. One of the picnic areas has a killer grill stocked with a pulley and enough cooking space for a whole hog...really nice to see. read more
