This was my second time visiting Nojoqui Falls. There wasn't much water this time, but the lush green surroundings still made the waterfall feel beautiful and peaceful. The hike itself is short, easy, and refreshing about 1.3 miles round trip. You can finish it in around 15 minutes, but I took my time (about 30 minutes) enjoying the breeze and stopping for photos and videos. I definitely recommend it if you're visiting Solvang. It's very close to downtown, has plenty of parking, and even a playground for kids perfect for a quick nature stop. read more

Two friends recommended a stop to stretch the legs on a road trip at Nojoqui Falls. I'll recommending you do the same. Pulled in around 1pm on a Sunday and was able to secure parking in the shade. Lots of good signage marking the way, many advising caution, but it's an easy hike. There were a fair amount of people enjoying the space. I'd love to comeback early in the morning after the rain and just hold space in solitude with the falls. It seems like a very sacred space and would love the silence of just the falls and the song of the wind dancing through the trees as it meanders through the canyon. This is an easy 10-15min walk/hike starting from the trailhead to the waterfall which is mostly shaded and along a little river. It can be a little muddy or have loose gravel and rocky in some areas. The paved walk from the parking area is an additional 10min plus walk depending how far you park. Overall this is an easy enough trail for kids, is pet friendly on leash, and is only mildly accessible if you're bringing a stroller, walker, or wheelchair until you reach some steps that are towards the mid-end of the trail (I did see plenty of people trying the trail with these devices). So it's easy enough to be enjoyed by most and at least get a look at the waterfall from a distance or up-close depending on your mobility. It tends to get busy on the weekends but there's plenty of parking and plenty of clean and fully stocked restrooms with plumbing. I noticed a total of three with, I'm assuming, old plumbing or repurposed water as this was yellow. There are also plenty of grilling and picnic table areas which can be reserved for $15 or others on a first come basis. read more

It's been raining for days so what better time to visit a park to see a waterfall? Someone was telling their friend that Nojoqui Falls in Santa Barbara County Park was really flowing but that it was really muddy. Fortunately, the trail wasn't terribly muddy so we managed to hike in and out while staying fairly clean. There was a little bit of traffic on our way in which was perfect for us to get lots of photos. As we hiked out, there were far more visitors starting out on the hike. We would definitely do this hike again and would be interested to see if there are any alternate trails we could traverse here and any other parks in the area. You'll definitely want to visit if it has been raining so you can see a beautiful waterfall! read more

My husband usually finds hiking spots when we're on getaways and he stumbled upon this area while researching. It's a pretty easy hike and mostly flat terrain and minimal incline. Other hikers were there too but it wasn't crowded which is a plus. The falls wasn't huge but still a good amount of running water. It was beautiful and relaxing soaking in some mother nature. Keep an eye out on the entrance from the road, we missed it the first time and had to back track. Other than that, once you enter from the road, it's for the most part straight forward to the entrance of the hike. read more

I was on a website on Solvang area and found this beautiful place. There was plenty of free parking and tent camping area with picnic table playgrounds, and volleyball court. There were bathrooms on the grounds. So back to the Nojoqui Fall Park, the hike to the falls was about 20 minutes with steps and bridge to see the waterfall. The way up was not good for wheelchairs or stroller. As we got closer to the falls that the walking path got narrow and would have to pull over to let people by you. When we made it to the falls it was beautiful and worth the hike. I would definitely recommend to visit this park. read more

Very easy and smooth trail. The waterfall is about .5 miles from the parking lot making it a total of 1 mile short hike. Totally worth coming and checking out. Beautiful place! Great spot to park under a tree and spend a few hours. Clean bathrooms, plenty of bbq grills, and a nice, easy walk to the falls. Currently (end of May 2025) the waterfall is flowing down the rocks, enough to get you wet if you stood under it. But it's not rushing, so keep that in mind. The creek is also pretty slow, but still a lovely walk. Perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon. read more

This was an easy trail up to the waterfall. Parking was plentiful on a Monday morning. Sadly, the waterfall was slim which wasn't surprising at all bc we hardly got any rain this year but it was still a peaceful walk. It was shaded from beginning to end which made it very enjoyable. I just wished the trail was longer in distance. I would definitely come back when I know for sure that the waterfall is plentiful. What an awesome little scenic hike and waterfall. We decided to stop by after our trip to Solvang which is about a 15 minute drive. Just follow your GPS and you will get there .. It is located off the 101 take the exit and the back paved road. You will take a nice little drive in the middle of farms and in about 5 minutes you will end up in a big nice park with plenty of parking right next to beautiful mountains. We parked and took about a 10-15 minute walk and arrived at the water fall. The trails is very well kept and it has a little stream running next to it. There is only one trail so you will not get lost. We were the only ones there during the weekday so I am not sure how crowded it gets during weekends. If you are in the area this is a must especially because you will see a waterfall within a short distance. We took pictures and took the view in and headed back. There were wood peckers just pecking at one tree making little holes everywhere. I hadn't ever seen a real life one except for the one on TV. This place should be on your list if in the area or just passing by. read more

So pretty! We arrived early, before the crowds at 8:30ish. Parked in the lot closest to the trail head. This is a beautiful and fairly short walk to the waterfall. Not a whole lot of water but still beautiful! Make sure you protect you and your pups from ticks, pulled a couple off my dog after the hike. Continue on Alisal road into Solvang, a much less traveled "backroad" into town and on your way back stop at the adorable winery and farm for some delicious wines!! read more

Located right off the 101 is Nojoqui Falls. When to turn in, a park and bathrooms on your right, go straight and plenty of parking by another park area and the Nojoqui Falls. Such a cool place to visit. 15 minutes from downtown Solvang and has a large parking lot. The "hike" (it's really a walk) to the waterfall is about 1/2 a mile and it's beautiful. Follow a scenic trail with lots of beautiful trees and a small creek to the waterfall. In November, there wasn't a huge waterfall, but it was still beautiful. Sun 3/10/24 went to Nojoqui Falls County Park to check out their waterfall. No parking fee. There are separate men & women's bathroom, flushed toilets , sinks with hand soap. It's a 10 min walk to the waterfall, 0.9 miles total. Trail is official closed due to storm damage. There is a small wooden fence that we all went under to see the waterfall. There is a big tree down, but easy to get over the branches. Why the park can't cut the tree and open up the trail I don't know! Waterfall is beautiful land running nicely. Worth a short visit. They have benches along the way and a picnic table. Lots of picnic tables near the parking lot too. read more

Beautiful hike but in need of major maintenance. This is why there are signs that say the trail is closed. There are at least 2 major trees that have fallen on the trail blocking passage. You can get around them but you have to be agile to do so. Also the trail is not safe at all certain point near the waterfall impeding the path to the base of the waterfall. We stopped around here when the ground becomes a slippery ledge. No thanks! You can see the waterfall partially as the trees are obstructing the entire view. The waterfall was plentiful as there have been recent rains hence the fallen trees. Parking at is the upper end. Restrooms available at the trailhead. read more

Follow the GPS down tiny roads to get to this really nice park! There are multiple play structures, big open grassy areas, LOTS of parking, and a hike back through the trees to get to the Nojoqui Falls. For the hike, it is NOT recommended for anyone who is not sure footed. The park ranger we talked to said to make sure to be out way before dusk because the canopy keeps out all light and the temperature drops dramatically quickly and the gets very slippery. He said many people have slipped and broken legs on the rocks. (So don't climb on the rocks at the bottom of the falls!) The hike is completely shaded as the tree canopy on either side touch on the top. It's a beautiful and quick walk/hike next to the stream. read more

Nojoqui Falls County Park is a short trip south of Solvang on the 101 South. Be sure to use a maps app to get there as there is a small road with just a few turns you need to take to get there from the freeway exit. Its easy with an app, but you are likely to get lost without a map. There is ample parking in the lot at the very head of the trail near by the park/kids play area. There are picnick tables near the parking by the park/kids play area. If you go in the morning you may see deer eating in the field beyond the kids' park. You may also see birds (some kind of duck?) and lots of squirrels depening on the season you go. There are bunnies in the general area around Solvang, but we have never seen any on this trail. Do not feed the wildlife--just take a picture. The trail is combination of an asphalt road and a dirt path that is well marked and easy to walk on. It is kid friendly. However, you do need to make sure they don't run off the trail into the river/stream bed or the surrounding forest. (We may be mistaken, but we do not believe there is any posion ivy/oak on/near the path.) There are interesting trees along the trail. If you go after a rain, then the stream and waterfall will likely be running. We have gone a few times and this last one was the first time we saw them. There is a (new) sign/barricade telling you not to go all the way to the base of the waterfall, but many people just jumped it to go look. We did not. You can see the waterfall from the barricade, but I'm sure its a nicer view closer up. You should always obey posted signs, but if you decide not to, then I would not take your kids with you to be sure they are safe and just show them a photo. The whole walk back and forth is probably about 30-45 min max depending how fast you walk and how many picures you stop to take. The whole trip from Solvang and back is probably about 1.5-2 hours so that you will have time to do other things during the day. Tips: (1) Try to go after it has rained to see the stream and waterfall. (2) Do not go during the rain because the park may be closed due to flash flooding and falling rocks. (3) During hot months go in the morning and during cold months during mid day for the best temperatures. Depending on the weather, you may still need a light jacket or sweatshirt in the morning during summer. read more

When in Solvang, what other outdoorsy thing to do? This was a hiking spot with a waterfall! Couldn't turn that down. Directions: It's pretty self-explanatory. You'll be in a park and once you see a map it'll show you the directions. to the waterfall. Hiking Difficulty: Easy. Nothing treacherous, just check signs or research if rocks are falling or if it's bear season. The path is relatively paved and unfortunately, access to the waterfall is extremely limited. Overall: 4 stars. Not THE hike to be or do but it's still an enjoyable hike. If you want to get away from the charming town of Solvang this is a nice outdoorsy experience. Great for a nice morning stroll. I enjoyed the trees, rocks, and how the sun lights pierces through the forest. Lovely! The trail to the falls is closed, so I did t go up it. That would be wrong. But my cousin Throckmorton did, and he wanted me to share what he found. The hike time of ten minutes is pretty accurate, even with a meandering toddler in tow. The initial section is wide, slightly muddy. The middle section is where it starts to get sketchy, with lots of signs about falling rocks and the primary danger across the whole trail, a soft, non-railed edge above the stream. The drop is no more than a five to eight foot tumble into shallow but rocky water. There is a foot bridge that is barred at the far end, though not difficult to duck through. From the bridge you can get a keyhole view of the falls and watch the tumbling stream flow beneath you. Scenic. Peaceful. A pleasant stop. The final stretch of path is the most clearly unsafe, according to Throckmorton, who is a rebel, unlike me, a rule follower. The path is more narrow with that sliding drop off much closer. The path is blocked by a downed tree, but weaving through the branches isn't all that difficult. Arriving at the falls, the view is gorgeous but all surfaces are wet, muddy, and a bit slick. For us strait laced types, this is a no go. But for rebels and mavericks like Throckmorton, a well know skateboarder, this an easy, lovely outing. read more

This place is amazing! We found this place on accident literally looking for things to do near Solvang as we were driving up from LA and this locations popped up. We did come right after a huge rain storm so not sure if it is always this nice but the water fall and water flow down the stream was incredible! Location: Very easy to drive to right off the highway. The roads are nice and not a difficult drive at all. Parking: lots of parking both right at the start of the trail (spots are bit off road so it might make your tires a bit dirty) or just maybe 20 feet further down with paved parking spaces. Either way there is plenty. Trail: Very easy maybe 7-10 mins slightly uphill with some stairs. There was one small spot which was a bit muddy as it just rained but otherwise it was a clean, well maintained trail for all ages. Bathrooms: plenty of restrooms at the beginning of the trail which are pretty clean. Lots of trash bins as well if you plan to eat in your car. Please keep the trails clean and I saw some trash on the trail near the waterfall. The waterfall itself is incredible and fierce. Its so easy to get to and the water flow was amazing to see. The waterfall has a stream all the way to the bottom of the trail so the entire trail itself is entertaining as you follow the steam up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, I highly recommend this trail. It's easy, clean and lots of facilities. My apple watch said less than 1 mile there and back (~0.8miles total). read more

Beautiful park and waterfall that's easy to access and get to within a short amount of time. This was the shortest hike I've been on in order to reach a waterfall! I came about 45 minutes before sunset, since the park closes at sunset on our way to Solvang. Parking was free and there was a restroom located in the parking lot. The whole "hike" to the water fall took about 20 minutes and there were a lot of cute bridges along the way and benches that you could sit at to just enjoy nature. The park itself is nice, clean, and quiet. Nice to hear the air flow through the trees and greenery. The "hike" to the waterfall is easy and takes only 10-15 minutes. It's about 0.7 miles roundtrip in and out same way. There can be a crowd or two hanging out by the waterfall so it can be difficult to get a clear picture. The flow of the waterfall depends if there has been rainfall recently so I suggest going within the same month it rains otherwise it'll be dry. There's restrooms at the park but the water is yellow so I wouldn't wash my hands in the restrooms. Parking is easy and free. Dog friendly as long as they stay on leash. read more

If you are driving from Santa Barbara on the 101 to Solvang (or vice versa) or Monterey, you can stop here to take a break, 15-20 minute dirt hike one way to the Waterfall from the free parking lot. IMPORTANT: 1. NO working restrooms here. Go somewhere before turning off the 101. 2. NO Digital Cell Coverage here. (No ATT or Verizon) 3. We used Car Satellite GPS to locate. School groups come here during the week. No guarantee water will be flowing at the fall. Easy hike with some steps and loose gravel. Best to wear hiking shoes with grip. It was a memorable stop but it's not a place you would go a second time--not that compelling. read more
