Spicy Teriyaki Wings
Britney P.

Nice spot. Wings taste good. They definitely give you a different version of a chicken wing. Rice was kind of plain. I would just get the wings and you can get rice from another spot. Don't forget the hot chili oil on the side.

This food is nasty I would eat here agy

Great food. Their wings are the best along with their fried rice. The City's best kept secret.

Really good wings. I was reluctant at first because of how it looks from the outside. Don't sleep. I was pleasantly surprised.

The spicy Teriyaki Wings are great. Just don't ask for extra spicy, you will regret it. The fried rice isn't bad either.

“Fried rice is a bit salty though, but you can make white rice at home and mix it together, giving you more rice.”

Bar none, this is my favorite Chinese take-out spot. Their assembly-line efficiency is a sight to…read morebehold and their food is absolutely amazing, both on its own and for the price. When it comes to Chinese food, I'm a creature of habit, because the very last thing I need when I'm desperate for a good meal is a white paper box of refuse from a soggy, overripe diaper. Thankfully, Danny's Wok doesn't deal in that kind of garbage whatsoever. What they do offer are amazing soups, a killer General Tso's, a house special fried rice that would cause hungry men to commit crimes, and customer service that doesn't even pretend to kiss your puckered starfish. I don't know about you, but I like that: we're here to trade currency for food. I don't expect more, and it's honestly awkward for me to get more. Now, this isn't to say they're not nice. I've never had a negative experience, from order to receipt at Danny's Wok. Sure, the assholes outside who want my change...they're a different story. If they could just use their words to speak real sentences, I'd be more inclined to hook them up with a little heroin change. But I don't just give away money, willy-nilly, to heroin addicts without at least a few faux-earnest words and a rehearsed tale of woe. My heartstrings are almost too tuggable, but pretty much only respond to audible English. Sorry. All that aside, the food and the place is great. I order online before I go, and as a result I never have to wait. The staples of Chinese-American cuisine are all there, and they're all better than I've ever had them...which, of course, led to some rumors a few years back that these folks were serving some--exotic--animals. Naturally, that's a complete fabrication, and I'm glad that their amazing food outlived that vicious rumor. I love this place, and consider myself a diehard fan of theirs. If they sold t-shirts, I'd buy every size so that I could still fit into one as their food makes me fatter and fatter. If a man is going to die in such a short span of time as it is, that man might as well die happy, and for me, that "happy" would be the ability to regularly feast on meals from Danny's Wok. "No bullshit, Wang?" "No bullshit, Jack." It has never been easier for me to give a place 5 stars. Yes, I'd give the same review to Danny's Wok as I would one of Garces, Andres or Flay's finest! Knowing that I have the taste buds of a 7-year-old child, I'd probably rate Danny's Wok even higher!

The Roscoe chicken was pretty good and somewhat crispy, but could probably use more cornstarch. The honey pecan shrimp were really good. I didn't realize it came with jalapeños so the kick was unexpected and could've gone without it. But I did LOVE the oranges in it, which I also didn't expect. The fried rice was also great and held well when I reheated it two days later. My friend got the lemon peppa chicken which had a delicious, lemony sauce that was better than the usual lemon pepper I've had in the past. And she also had the magnolia project beef, which she said was a little tough. The cheesesteak roll was unfortunately not tasty. But those Sweet potato donuts were absolutely delicious. My raspberry drink could've used more water--it was way too sweet and not in the good way (& I love sweets!), so I couldn't wait to get a cup of water. I wish the woman would've mentioned that the peach flavor was a tea based product because tea usually balances sweet drinks better. I do wish she had a little more customer service energy. She was nice, but a smile & a "hey, how can I help you?" goes a long way. I love the art in the restaurant and the touch of the menu that resembles the staples you see in Chinese American stores.

I think the flavor profiles are sometimes contrasting but overtime you acquire the taste and it becomes pretty tasty. My soul eggroll was awesome but I wish the meat was just a little more flavorful. So far, everything has always been good: the delivery is on time, the food is hot, and the order is accurate. I like the tikku garlic soy and original garlic spicy chicken. The seasonings are so flavorful, and the chicken is so crispy and juicy. The original garlic spicy is pretty spicy, so be careful if you have low spice tolerance. If you really like onions (I do not), go for the snow onion or green onion chicken. If you like gizzards or are adventurous, the fried gizzards are so flavorful and good. Add some pickled radish to cleanse your palette and balance the flavors - it really helps on cutting the heat if you are eating something spicy. Korean fried chicken is a bit of a splurge, but it is so good and so worth it. The chicken has plenty of meat, and you get a decent amount of food. Once you have Korean fried chicken, you may not want to go back to American fried chicken because the crispiness and flavor cannot be beaten.

Today was an excuse to check in on my old haunt and see how things were going. Ordering was fast, and the food came out quickly to our table. I ordered the garlic soy sandwich, and my friend got the tacos. Honestly the chicken quality is great here-- crunchy, moist, not too saucy, and not overpoweringly flavorful as some other places are. I cleaned that plate and ended very satisfied. There are quite a few tables around for small and large groups. Things were pretty quite here during lunch time, so it's not too busy of a place that you won't be stuck waiting or crammed in. It's definitely busier at dinner time though!

My son and I got there around 11:20pm and they were packed up and closed for the night (even though the hours say they close at MIDNIGHT). We were hungry so went across the street to Lucky Star Food Market. This used to be a 7-Eleven many many years ago. I always see this market when I'm waiting for the 36 Trolley and never went inside until now. It's a nice little market with about anything you could think of inside. They also sell cooked food. My son and I decided to give the food a try. I ordered: Cheeseburger Platter with French Fries -- $5.50 Chicken Nugget Platter with French Fries -- $5.50 3 Chicken Wings -- $3.75 My order came to $14.75 and I also purchased two TastyKake products at $1.00 each and a bag of potato chips at $1.89 The cheeseburger platter was delicious even though the burger was larger than the bun it was on. They didn't use a frozen burger. The French Fries were not fried too hard. My son loved his chicken nugget platter, except they forgot his honey mustard on the side. The chicken wings were another story. They were rubbery and hard to pull apart to eat. They didn't look right. I'll stick to getting my chicken wings from Asian Cuisine near my mother's house. My son and I agreed that we would return if we every got hungry super late at night. This place is apparently open 24 hours. It's in the hood, so be careful.

The greens lacked flavor, the blackened catfish was overly salty and heavy on the sauce, and the seafood mac & cheese was underwhelming. The mashed potatoes were okay, and the cornbread was decent. My mother ordered the chicken breast platter and was disappointed enough to send it back. On the positive side, the host was awesome, the ambiance was nice, and our servers, the twin brothers, were attentive. For the chef, I think it may be worth revisiting some of the dishes and finding a better balance and consistency in flavor that appeals to a broader audience. I likely won't return, but I'd still encourage others to form their own opinion.
