Sweet potato sauce
Selenia M.

I spent the day in Philadelphia and this was one of my targeted spots to visit. I couldn't leave without trying the oxtail lo mein. I was very pleased to find that there was ample parking available on the street. I placed my order online, and by the time I arrived, I had a very short wait. Very clean establishment. I believe there are a few counter stools available to sit at. I was taking my order to go, as I had to commute back to Connecticut, so I did not get to eat my lo mein right away. I also ordered a jerk chicken egg roll and the Crab Rangoons. I didn't get a picture of the jerk chicken egg roll because it vanished pretty quickly. It was perfectly seasoned And very convenient to eat while on the go. The Crab Rangoons were delicious, probably the best I've ever had with the pimento cheese addition. It comes with a sweet potato sauce. The sauce had good flavor, but the Crab Rangoon were great on their own. I finally made it back to Connecticut several hours later and needless to say after that trip, I wasn't hungry. But the next day when I reheated my oxtail lo mein it was absolutely phenomenal. The portion is very substantial so much so that I had more than next day. The flavor nor the texture were not compromised. It was everything in one, effortless oxtails, pulled from the bone and noodles in a very savory gravy. Highly recommend. If you're looking for a new take on Chinese Food, Soul food and Caribbean food fused together, I highly recommend if you are in Philadelphia.

Chinese Food/Black American fusion Jerk Chicken Skewers (3) - $13.50 4/5 stars Great flavor, really enjoyed the rice and cabbage. This felt like it was priced appropriately for the portion size Oxtail Rangoon (5) - $13.50 2/5 stars Not enough oxtail (surprise surprise), too much gravy and overall wetness. Rangoon didnt hold up, wasn't crispy but instead soggy Overall - Super cool concept and definitely some other menu item menus I'd try!

This is a neighborhood take-out spot that makes a fusion of Soul & Chinese food. Very yummy but you need to have time to wait for your order. They have seating outside and some seating inside. The chicken wings were tasty, even without a sauce, and the oxtail lo mein and salmon fried rice are delicious.

Love the concept and relatable relevance to black culture! I throughly enjoyed waiting for my food while reading all the Black American proverbs. I'm very intentional about supporting black-owned businesses, circulating the dollars and bringing awareness to our creativity. So grateful I was able to support and share this business. This location is a way away from me so I won't visit frequently but I'm glad I did this past weekend. The menu items are very creative and the vibes are chill. Stop by if you're in the area and in the mood for Chinese food with a soulful flare.

I visited Black Dragon a few weeks ago. There were about eight people ahead of me, and I waited over 30 minutes outside in line. Once inside, it took another 30 minutes to get my food. I ordered the fried chicken fried rice and sweet potato donuts. The portion of chicken was generous, with good flavor, nicely seasoned but not overdone. The rice, however, was decent but lacked flavor and wasn't particularly memorable. The sweet potato donuts, while large and reasonably priced, could've been sweeter. I decided to give it another try. This time, there were only a few people ahead of me, and I went inside since no one was outside. After a few minutes, one of the workers asked three of us, including myself, to wait outside because there were too many people in the building. However, there were no signs or staff outside managing how many people could enter. I didn't want to wait in the heat, so I left.

My brother waited in line at Black Dragon for nearly 2 hours eager to try the Jerk Lo mein; while I opted for the Collard green fried rice. I was highly anticipating writing something nice however, was extremely disappointed. My food was soooo salty I couldn't consume.

Went on a Saturday afternoon and was able to walk right in and order. I ordered the man man noodles and peach cobbler wontons. Both were good. I'd order the peach cobbler wontons again. The man man noodles were good but so greasy! Like oil leaked from the container to the bag greasy! For that reason, I wouldn't order them again. The portion size was good and the prices were reasonable. Looking forward to trying some other menu items.

Food was DELICIOUS!!!! Went on a weekend and the wait was a bit long but I'd do it all again. The service was fine, girls gave good recommendations. Not a lot of seating inside except bar top, so don't expect to eat inside, but plenty of seating outside. Seen reviews about pricing which is fair, it was a bit pricey, but I think the food speaks for the dollars! Definitely a must try.

Pleasant atmosphere and pleasant hospitality. Food was amazing. Highly recommended to anyone who wants some good food.

Ayo! Maaaaaaaan listen! The Black Dragon is the definition of OFFICIAL! This Black-Asian fusion concept is what's needed in your life. Trust. Everything we ordered was delicious! I personally copped the Yaka Mane. It's beef, noodles, and shrimp with ginger. Incredible. If you find yourself in Philly definitely fall through.

Oxtail Lo Men

I had the oxtail lo main which I wanted for the longest but I go get it and taste it it's not oxtails but beef stew I knew I wasn't tripping I had other family members try it and they said the same thing so idk why charge oxtail price when it's not even oxtails you are serving

Collar green and other Egg rolls were great! Oxtail Lo mein was a bit too soupy, noodles were broken, but the flavor was incredible!

Salmon Cheesesteak Eggroll (1)

Disappointed... dark bruised chicken fried feathers still in tact salmon cheesesteak roll taste like canned salmon mush

The foodie in me couldn't say no. So I went. The ambiance is very casual, with indoor seating. But I took it to go. The service was pretty good. The cheesesteak was DIVINE! The portion was filling. I couldn't eat all in one sitting as I had already eaten half of a cheesesteak elsewhere. But it was absolutely worth the trip. If I remember correctly, it was cash only. I definitely want to go back and have another cheesesteak from Max's.

But the others did and they were treated disrespectfully by the bar made this evening which was Saturday JANUARY 10TH 2026 . I BELIEVE the bar person at that time name was KeKe not certain but she was rude and because one of our family members was sitting at the end of the bar she asked why as if it was an inconvenience for her to walk that far to set e him he said he waited approximately 10-15 minutes before she even reconized him or asked him want he wanted to drink as if it was a issue that she had to walk so far from the rest of the bar area where she seemed to have her particular people sitting and gave them more attention. Once 2 more of us arrived to the same end of the bar it was still a mess the service was not what we where used too especially at Max's even though it was only our 2nd time being there on a Saturday which we were informed was her usual day. Needless to say the rudeness and irritation by her continued she argued with another patron about his drink order, cursed that she did not have to F.....deal with another paying customer who was as also in the same area, and took order from 2 person shot was with his wife and took even longer after they paid for their drink to bring the change back uni she again attended to her patrons at the other end of the bar. She acted as if we were not even worth her time or our money was not the same color as her other patrons who she catered to for most of the evening we where there. Since I work for the City of Philadelphia I would say that this was a blatened sign of what people who visit our city say that Philadelphia is NOT a friendly place!!! My family is from the City of hospitality and this was by far the worst experience for them since they have arrived. The Barmaid seemed to just NOT GIVE A DAMN period. Sincerely, A Regular weekly visiting customer during the week. Thank you,
