I got a number of quotes, and went with SHC based on the reputation of Anlin windows, and satisfaction with the way Greg answered my questions. Anlin are noted for diminishing sound, which was my goal, along with managing the heat and cold from a huge picture window in the living room. The quote was very reasonable, and I am extremely pleased with the results. I ended up adding a French door in the BR, on the advice of a designer. The look is a lot more "modern" [see photos, including where some janky shutters were removed to produce a much better look] and the difference in sound and light/heat is like--night and day. I am enjoying the new access to the patio provided by the French door. Also, all the windows work, very well, lol. The installation was easy, the windows look good and function beautifully. I have been wanting to Tex cote my house for a while now. It's basically a very thick paint for the exterior of your house which reflects the heat and keeps the house much cooler and is suppose to last a long time. My brother had a contractor install his solar panels 2 months ago and told me Sunlight Home Construction doesn't just do solar but many different energy upgrades. He was very happy with them so I decided to give them a call. A friendly guy named Jack came over and demonstrated the tex cote product, which I already knew somewhat based of of YouTube, but it was a pretty cool chemical show of the superiority of the product compared to basic paint. Jack and I immediately bonded because he was a fellow gym junkie like myself so that was a plus. He measured and gave me a price that was not as bad as I thought it would be. I knew it was going cost more then a paint job but I was not shocked with the price. Jack even gave me finance options which I didn't need for the Tex cote. Jack mentioned if I ever considered solar, which I haven't really because my electricity bills are under $200 on average. He looked at my one year electricity usage and did some quick calculations and showed that if I was to purchase solar and finance with them I would be be saving enough money which would pay for the Tex cote project as well if I included it in the finance. Plus I would be getting a large tax credit as well. This was a no brainer! Jack proposed a solution for me which allows me to kill two birds with one stone and keep the money I was going to use to pay for the Tex cote. I am extremely impressed with the knowledge and creativity Jack presented me. Most people just try to sell you something and disappear but Jack (even thou he's still selling) actually asked questions irrelevant to Tex cote and sold me something that I actually ended up needing and turned out to be an amazing solution. The tex cote took 5 days from start to finish and my house looks amazing! They replaced some bad wood around my door, which I didn't know was bad, and didn't charge me for it. I'm waiting for the approval from the city for the solar, but based on how they worked on my house for the tex cote, I have no doubt they will do a fantastic job on the solar. Asked for a quote on Yelp (which, by the way, is a great way to receive quotes from multiple vendors). Greg (the owner) replied promptly and immediately gave an estimate of how much the project would cost. The project was replacing 5 windows with high efficiency windows. I had other companies also come by the house to give us a quote and they were pushy, trying to force us to sign on the spot to get special deals. Greg was nothing like that: he explained why he though the brand/type of windows he works with are the best, he said how long it would take, and he helped with HOA related stuff. His price was totally appropriate given the competition and the quality of the product. His people came over, took precise measurements, a few weeks later the windows were ready to be installed and everyone was done within one day once they came to install them.
