Honestly feels incredible in there. I moved to the area a year ago or so and was looking like a crazy person for a new tattoo place to frequent. Well, I found it. Amanda is super rad and amazing at her job. I gave her a description of what I wanted to get and she drew it up for me. She asked me if I wanted to make any changes to her design, which I thought was great because she wanted to make me feel completely satisfied. I can't say enough great things about the piercing done at Sunken Ship. I took my daughter there (no kids under 9, I like that they have that rule... must be tough and responsible cookies!) and Heidi took special care to make her comfortable. Pricing was better than I expected and she did a beautiful job! I have friends with horror stories from the mall (don't take your kids to Claire's!) and I have no worries about her piercing and feel well equipped to deal with any issues. Set up an appointment to get my tattoo about three weeks in advance. During the interaction the gal up front gave me the info and tool my deposit. After submitting my artwork and getting everything all arranged, I show up for my appointment. While filling out the paperwork, the first question is asking me to state whether I have diabetes or not. This was NEVER addressed prior to my appointment. I was so taken off guard that I had to ask why this wasn't brought up before. Now it was out in the open and I couldn't take it back. My mistake for trying to be honest. Guess I won't be doing that again. I'm not pissed at the artist or the policy. I get it. Not really happy about it but I get it. What I am incredibly pissed about us not having this information before making the time to come in. read more

Had my navel piercing done here about 1.5 years ago, well the darn thing wouldn't heal because my kids kept hitting it. Finally just decided to take it out and let it close up. Had it redone about a month ago and it's great! She does a really good job at making sure it's even to your body. Staff is incredibly rude and thought it was appropriate to laugh that my teenagers ear piercing was done at Clair's poorly. I was simply asking for clarification as to why additional identification was needed. I've only ever done tattoos and piercings for myself in other states. Yes I am aware nobody should lose their license, I was simply trying to understand the difference and was spoken to condescendingly about "putting a needle through someone's body." The defensive interaction was uncalled for and inappropriate. I will happily provide the necessary documentation but at another location. I only came here because reviews stated they were friendly, precise and clean. Reviews failed to mention what jerks are on the staff. I was excited to meet them too because I was interested in finishing my sleeve here. Shame on you for your crappy attitude and lack of self awareness. read more

Kali is the best! I originally got my nipples pierced somewhere else and had one of the piercings go through my areola, not my nipple. I went to sunken ship and Kali confirmed my suspicions and took the barbell out for me, but I still chose to get it redone at the original shop because they wouldn't offer me a refund and offered to redo it for free. Once again, I had a feeling my areola was pierced. I came into sunken ship again and Heidi, who was also great, also looked for me and confirmed that my areola, not my nipple, was pierced again. They were both super welcoming and happy to look at my piercing without charge. After healing, I decided to say goodbye to the money I wasted at the original shop and get it redone for the final time at sunken ship and it's perfect! Kali actually pierced my nipple and not my areola, she was always very kind, professional, made a comfortable environment and is clearly extremely knowledgeable in her practice. I would definitely recommend anyone to come here for piercings, Kali is great! read more

My tattoo probably should have been done by someone else, just because the art style of the artist I went with was so different than what I was expecting. I totally take responsibility for that, but the artist that worked on me had a really heavy hand and I scarred pretty badly in two sections. I still love my tattoo, and I can't wait to be able to afford getting the second section done, I just wish they had been upfront about my style conflicts and the artist's level of experience. read more

Got my second small tattoo here a while ago. Emailed them in the morning for availability and got in later that afternoon. My tattoo artist (...sorry can't remember his name!) was super nice and reassuring with my dumb fear of needles haha. Both people I had contact with there were very helpful in making sure my small tattoo would turn out nice. My 2 sisters and myself had the pleasure of getting some artwork done here last Friday by the amazing Saw Blade. We had never been here before, but had heard many great things from, "Oh I've been there it's pretty cool!" to have you seen that tattoo floating around Facebook of Kurt Cobain? The guy who did it tattoos there." Needless to say, the shop definitely lived up to the hype. You have your choice of entrance options, one being alley and the other being street. As soon as you walk in the door, you can tell it's a cool place to be. There's a thrift shop in the front of the store with super rad clothes, shoes, and hats plus some miscellaneous odds and ends. You can even have a pretty woman moment if you so choose because there's a lounge area for the changing rooms. If the crushed red velvet couch and chairs in the lounge weren't enough, the tattoo side is even better. You have a few couches to choose from to comfortably wait your turn in plus you can see an abundance of work from all the talented artists there. Let us not forget the pieces that celebrate the namesake of the shop; every ship painting, photo, do dad, picture, figurine, statue you can imagine is hanging in the walls all the way up to the high ceilings. The most important thing I can share about this shop is that it's clean, professional and awesome. I highly recommend getting work done here and I will most definitely be back. It's a very clean, open, LARGE, welcoming shop. Matt does the most amazing coverup work you'll ever see, not to mention his original art...Have you SEEN the chest piece he did for a breast cancer survivor?? Beautiful... She recommended me to Morgan Dana which was a great match for me! We set up the appointment and I got it done yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. My 10 year old daughter asked to get her ears pierced again (we had let the original piercings close years ago). We were out and about today running errands and my daughter asked when she could get them done. Well we just happed to drive by at that moment so we parked and we went in. However because we didn't have the right documents with us they would not pierce her ears. We have different last names so no proof that I'm her mom, I get it no problem so we walked to the health district and got a copy of her birth certificate. We came back and Kali pierced her ears. I appreciated that all the tools that were used were in individual sterile packages (like the ones that dental offices use). She was very patient with my daughters many questions about what was going to happen and answered them so that my daughter understood.. she was 100% there for my daughter. My daughter asked about Kali's ear piercing and Kali explained it to her. She made sure that my daughter was comfortable and that we understood how to care for the piercings afterward. Before we left she wrote down the information about the earrings my daughter picked out. I spent a lot more than I expected to BUT I'd do it again in a heartbeat for the care that was given to us by all 3 ladies we interacted with today. Great shop, great staff. Got work done by Jeff Heath there, and he did a magnificent job on my first tattoos. He made a slight error on one of them, and owned up to the mistake. He wasn't going to charge for the tattoo, feeling horrible that my inaugural ink work wasn't perfect. I talked him into taking payment for the work done anyway, but was extremely impressed that he was willing to accept fault, even though the mistake was barely noticeable (proven by the fact that the people I've shown haven't yet noticed the flub). Will definitely going back to this shop and frequenting them for future ink. He was also very communicative during the process and thoroughly went through aftercare procedures, far more in depth than my wife had received at another shop. He was honest with his opinions on what would work with the tattoos I was asking for, and suggested/modified as needed to make them work out better in the end. I've seen Matt since Sunken Ship opened their first shop. They've moved a couple times over the years and the new shop is absolutely amazing! Matt successfully covered an awful tribal band I had that I hated. I'm not sure how he did it but I'm SO HAPPY with the result. I've personally been several times and every artist I've seen has been wonderful. Matt is hands down my favorite - a true artist! My husband and friends have all been happy with every experience we've had there. Heidi is so friendly and helpful.
