I saw some of their work online and I was sold but, forget the tattoo for a moment. I am impressed by the level of service. These guys are so professional and they are so welcoming and they more importantly they listen. Matt is super cool and professional, knows his stuff and is a great artist. He's booked out quite a ways, so get in where you fit in. I just finished my second session with him, and you can't even tell that he did a cover up, it looks like a brand new tattoo. I've been here for a couple of tattoos in the past and all were pretty great but my latest experience here was definitely one to write a review on! The artist I originally wanted wasn't able to get to my tattoo appointment (which is fine) so the receptionist (never got her name but it was the one who has black hair) really went out of her way to try and figure something out so I'm not sitting at the shop for a few hours doing nothing. Eventually Kayla was able to quickly design the tattoo I wanted and I was able to get it within a few hours! My friend and I went in for ear piercings and Kali helped us out. It was my first cartilage piercing and she explained things very well as far as what she was going to do and the after care. My anxiety was flaring up and she talked me calmly through the whole process while doing it. As for the actual piercing, it barely even hurt and was done quickly and perfectly! I'm new to the PNW and so finding a good local artist was a little unnerving but this place is awesome and put me right at ease! Walked in to smiling faces at the desk and then was quickly given over to Preston to see about getting me in that day. Sure enough he had time and did some great work with just a simple pic I had on my phone. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the prices are very reasonable. Preston himself was fun to talk to and made me feel very comfortable, I found myself laughing with him the whole session. So- my best friend and I came here on a total whim, wanting to get a daith piercing each.. and we received EXCELLENT service. Our piercer (Heidi) had a supremely soft touch- and was so quick in getting the job done. She was knowledgeable, skilled and it looks SO cute. However, not only that- but I had an older piercing (NOT done by Sunken Ship) that had sort of gone awry, without me actually knowing it. My ear was actually growing around the jewelry I had in (I know, super gross). However, Heidi helped me out, and made sure to fix me up before it got worse. She was gentle, informative and was SO sweet, and no, she did not charge me an arm and a leg to fix my old piercing :) When I left- I left feeling great knowing that I had the very best care taken of me. The shop is super clean, tucked inside a cute vintage store. For any other piercing needs, I am DEFINITELY going back to Sunken Ship. If you are questioning giving them a shot- DON'T. I brought in a picture of my grandfather's sail boat asking if they could draw up a tattoo of the boat. It came out great! The staff was also very relaxed and reassuring. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I had them write the boat's name on one of the sails, which the letters got a little mushed on. However, it was a VERY small spot so that's a bit of a lesson learned for me. Overall I am happy with the tattoo and the service. :) read more

Very impressed with Sunken Ship Tattoo and it's staff! They are friendly and just great people to work with. From Taylor at reception (she's so fun to talk to!!!) to Miguel the tattoo artist who my siblings and I got matching tattoos of our grandparents signatures. The shop is clean, well lit, and spacious. Each artist's booth reflects their personality and showcases their artwork beautifully. I had my appointment scheduled at 4 but got there half an hour early and was able to get in sooner. Love that! Miguel was very easy to work with from beginning to end. Very enthusiastic and takes pride in his work. The line work is beautiful and it is the only tattoo I have that healed perfectly! I have very sensitive skin and tend to scar easily but this tattoo had no problems healing! Now they have opened up a Beautiful shop on Hewitt Ave. The owner Matt Sawdon has done several Gorgeous pieces on me but I have to say, he finished my sleeve in the last 6 months and it is GORGEOUS!!! I can't go day without someone asking who did the work! I get the biggest compliments! I wouldn't let any other shop touch me. I have given so many of his business cards out. He and his wife run a clean shop and only employ the best! If you haven't checked out the Sunken Ship on Hewitt, you are definitely missing out! If I could give more stars I would! Brian McCormick is my new tattoo artist and I am happy and sad it took me so long to find a guy like this. His lines are clean and the time it takes for my tattoos to heal and how long it takes for him to stick me is so fast! I have now had 3 sessions with him and plan on doing more. Even with a small time mishap he was able to get me in! I couldn't be happier, I hate that he is in WA and I'm in CA but I will fly to him and I'm bringing friends with me next year to get work and my Mom just made the decision to get another tattoo because of him!!! I came here to get my first tattoo in June of last year, with Morgan Dana. It was a simple minimalist design that I drew, with a few modifications from the artist. When I had my initial consultation, the receptionist was very helpful with matching me with artists, and Morgan was perfect. I must say, I was really nervous as it was my first tattoo, but I'm happy to have had it done here. Morgan had cute art and flash at her station.
