I've never left a yelp review before, but now that days have gone by and I've had emergency eye…read moresurgery at another location with many doctors who are very professional caring and understanding with me. I just have to leave a review about Dr. Richard Hunter OD at the Geneva Visionworks location. Especially since I explained his behavior to these other professionals and they agreed that this was very out of line for a doctor to act towards a patient that they've never even met before that was going through a very scary eye emergency. From the moment he walked through the door, he did not introduce himself, he did not ask how I was doing, he didn't even ask me my symptoms like the technician said he would. I purposely did not explain a lot to her because she told me I could "explain all that stuff" to the doctor. She did ask me if I wanted an extra test for an extra charge and I said I would rather not get tests done if they're not needed because this is an unplanned emergency thus I was not financially prepared for this so I would like to keep the charging of extra tests to a minimum until I know what's going on. She was totally ok with that stating that after I spoke with the doctor if him and I decided to do the test, then I could come back out and do the test with her. When he walked in, his exact phrase was "if you're coming in with symptoms about your vision and we offer you additional testing, it's really not smart to decline that testing." We went back-and-forth for several minutes as I explained to him that I did not deny the test, I just asked to talk to a medical professional first, so I could explain my symptoms so that we can decide it together if it was best. I also explained the process of informed consent, I did not call him doctor because he was not acting like one, I explained to him that I'm also in the healthcare field, and I also carry the title of a doctor, but I would never ever treat a patient the way he was treating me. He eventually walked out of the room without telling me where he was going and then came back in and told me to get up because he just talked to the manager and they were going to waive the fee for the extra test so I needed to go get that test for free because he decided to do me a favor I didn't ask him to do. I then felt like my no thank you to the test was not appreciated, he went against my wishes by having me do the test anyway, stating that if I did not get that test done before I walked out of there, I very quickly could lose my vision. This is very scary for someone that's only in their 30s to hear especially someone who's pretty well versed in the healthcare field and did not expect to get treated this way whatsoever at the doctors office. I was nothing but bullied and sent on my way without much help and a whole lot more fear than I walked in with. He gave me three different offices I could call that were specialists in the area that I needed and he said you better hurry and get out of here because it's about 5 PM and they're probably all closed. After telling me that I had very little time to get this fixed because it already was going on for " way too long." I explained to him that I tried calling the office closer to my home and they could not get me in for over a month even after explaining to them my symptoms. I then took it upon myself two days later to cancel that appointment and try to get in somewhere else which is how I ended up in Geneva. So for him to tell me that I already waited too long (a week) even though I was trying my best to get into offices, was just completely uncalled for. He had no idea my journey to get there because he didn't ask me a single question. He just went off the very little information that was in my chart from the technician assuming he knew everything. I do understand being worried for your patient going through a medical emergency, but he also explained to me that he sees these all day long and that he knows what he's doing. Never once did I question what he was doing until he started bullying me into the test that I asked for more information on. I was not educated at all on my symptoms or my condition. I had to look a lot up on my own. All he said to me was that if I did not go to one of those specialists asap, I very well could be blind in the next couple days. Thank you but no thanks to you Richard Hunter. I hope every patient you have stands up to as I did. No patient deserves to be bullied and shamed into receiving medical care. I hate the idea of more patients having to experience your nasty behavior. Informed consent matters most. Just a reminder from one doc to another.

highly recommend. Very professional. Dr Hunter was very through in getting to my vision issues. The…read moreprice for the full exam and glasses was very reasonable, even with bifocals and transitions. He gave me information to give my primary care physician to do a follow up for surgery.
