He was very knowledgeable and took me through each pretest calmly and thoroughly. I then got to see the doctor after a series of tests on my eyes. I actually saw Dr. Malara today with his assistant, Joshua. I appreciated. Dr. MaLara's candidness with me and suggesting cataract surgery. They also tested my retinas which came out fine. At the end, I met with a technician named Dawn who explained my options for eyewear and gave me my updated prescription. Krzyzak Eyecare was recommended more than anyone else, so I decided to give them a try, and I'm very happy that I did. It did take a few months to get in there initially, so if you are reading this and thinking about schedueling an appointment, plan accordingly. While I usually hate waiting, I considered this to be a good sign that people are happy here and that I was making a good choice. For my exam, I met with Dr. Michael Krzyzak, who I felt was very personable and did an excellent job explaining what he was doing and what the best options were for my situation. After the exam I met with the absolutely wonderful Alicia, who helped me pick out my new frames and was very thorough in making sure that she had the perfect measurements for my new progressive lenses. When someone knows what they are doing like she did, it adds a whole new level of value to buying your glasses in house, rather than online. And when I came back to pick up my new glasses, she made me feel like a VIP even though I am new to the practice. The whole experience was everything that I could have asked for and I'm so grateful to have found an eyecare team that I have complete confidence in and will now stick with.

I appreciated the time spent with me and taken to confirm that I had no further questions. I did not feel rushed at any time. The optician who assisted with my contacts was also very nice and patient - if you haven't worn contacts, what a task learning to put them in and out! You've been warned! An hour round trip drive and got there to find out the order was wrong and the glasses he ordered were ones we eliminated as options and not what I even chose the day before. The woman "helping" was the rudest, condescending, uncaring horrible person. She blatantly told me the things Steve told me to help make decisions about frames weren't true and did nothing to help in the selection process but then provided no useful information to help either. She was disrespectful and unprofessional. Don't be taken by the slick sales and poor customer service.

A good optometrist is hard to find - thank goodness for New York Optometric…read more I just moved to Syracuse, and I needed to get a pair of glasses adjusted - badly. I wasn't able to find an optometrist through "normal" means (ie., asking around, searching for reviews, etc.), so I went to one that I had seen in Armory Square. When I realized that said place wasn't going to work (see reviews for Spec's), I complained to a friend, who recommended New York Optometric. I went straight over and found that they were slammed. It was during lunch hour, there were three or four groups of people looking at glasses, and there were only two people on staff. Despite this, they managed to handle each customer quickly and seamlessly, and I was in and out within 15 minutes. Lou, the owner, adjusted my difficult glasses with ease, and I'm finally able to wear them. AND he didn't charge me a cent to do it (even though I had bought the glasses somewhere else). He waved as I left and said that if they didn't work, to come back, and they'd be happy to take another look at them. And one thing's for sure: I will definitely be back to New York Optometric.

Jim and Patricia make choosing your eyewear and getting you a really great prescription fun and easy, and the whole experience has been great for me and my family.
